I love stained glass.

This was largely inspired by this collection of photos; I'd been wanting to do a redraw of an old stained glass founders drawing from a while back and it was such a perfect reference I knew I had to give it a go. It kinda fits into my medieval au, although it's a lot more extravagant than is probably realistic lol.

Some fun things to note:

It's based off of the ending of The First Battle with the founders swearing their devotion to Starclan. It's more supposed to depict how the modern clans (or kingdoms) remember the mythology rather than being an unbiased depiction of events.

It's displayed at four trees, hence the oak leaves bordering each window.

When Sky's Kingdom left the forest Cloudstar broke Skystar's window in anger. Rather than repair it the other monarchs just removed the window entirely.

The two skeletons represent Jackdaw's Cry and Falling Feather; I imagine they're remembered as a cautionary tale about the dangers of sharing blood across kingdom borders (as well as representing the mass grave buried beneath four trees)

Storm is remembered as the first angel of Starclan and is said to be the one who covers the stars and moon with clouds to show Starclans anger.

Some time ago, I've stumbled upon posts made by @skinwretch and @blimbo-buddy about an au there Bumble is a daughter of One Eye, and my own ideas spiralled out of control. So, Flower Bumble AU! Star Flower and Bumble are born and raised as a part of the proto Sisters group. One Eye, their father, lived with his own rouges amoungst them, and had quite ambitious goals for Star Flower, seing her as the next leader for his group or the Sisters. I feel like the siblings have a very strong bond, despite Star knowing that Bumble left mostly to escape the influence of her father. Bumble worries a lot about her sister, but Star always reassures her that its the live that she wants (despite having very complicated feelings about being held up to such high standarts) The plot of this au mostly goes as in canon, except the fact that Bumble can freely see ghosts without a proper ritual. Star Flower comes in the area as a scout of her group, and decides to stay with her sister for a bit, and, oh, she has a roommate! What's a "clan" though? ...Bumble, what do you mean theres been more ghosts in the area?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN SOMEONE KILLED A CAT AND TOOK HER CHILDREN??? So, yea, Bumble and Star Flower are weary of thouse "clan cats" coming into their territorry, surely nothing bad will come of it, right?

A Forest Divided

I'll be honest, I liked Slash better as a villain this arc than I did One-Eye. Slash had his reasons, but One-Eye was just an asshole for no reason? Unless there's something I'm forgetting. Too bad One-Eye as a design concept is super badass. This book was boring other than the parts with Star Flower in it, so I didn't really know what to draw.

My most outlandish Warriors headcanon is that the reason we don’t see openly queer cats in the clans is because they’re a fundamentally closed and conservative society, and the cats showing signs of being queer are intentionally shunned, outcast, or leave on their own. Outside of the clans, there are tons of queer cats living their best lives.

My supporting evidence is the closest we get to queer clan cats (and the only ‘canon’ gay relationship) all take place outside the clans. Ravenpaw only found himself in the barn with Barley and the other local barn cats and kittypets. Tallstar found Jake and was able to explore that side of himself before committing himself fully to the clans. Popular fanon ships (Moth/Leaf) involve cats who are already shunned for not conforming to the conservatism of the clans. The enemies of the clans with unique family and relationship structures (not the “nuclear family” equivalent of the clans) are portrayed as evil and unusual.

Time and again, we see that nonconformity with clan culture results in cats being wholly cast out and severely shunned. Outsiders aren’t welcome in, so the clan cats get no alternative perspectives and have no language for what they might be feeling. Instead they suffer through relationships they don’t want, end up in the medicine den for life, or run away.

So, yeah. That’s what’s in my head about WC and queer rep.
