The Division: Tips/Things that aren't immediately obvious in the Incursion

Blue drones = shock locked. They should be the main target when they're out.
Thanks to /u/compassghost: Flashbang sticky bombs will disable drones for quite a bit. This is really helpful!
Red restock is limited to only be opened once but resets every few waves. So no infinite restocks. If a teammate opens one it will drop ammo for all. The crate upstairs behaves slightly differently than the 2 in the center of the map. Also note that once you go downstairs you can't go back up. Ammo stations make this a breeze.
Waves spawn when EITHER you kill all enemies or if enough time has passed. You do want to be quick as enemies can pile up if you're not keeping up with the timer.
The center of the map is definitely the safest place to camp out. Grenades can't hit, the missiles can't hit, drones won't go down there, enemies rarely drop down AND you can put your supply station completely out of sight of enemies. It's also pretty close to where you need to put the explosives.
Thanks to /u/cirquemedia: If you're having issues in the center of the map with shotgunners. the area behind the two generators (on the right side of the map when you drop down) another easy place where the ACP and turrets can't hit you.
Thanks to /u/morepandas: For every new wave, have your team clear out the "back" close to the spawn so that you dont have to fight enemies at every angle. They typically come straight out that door and are very easy flashbang fodder.
Faye will not shut the freak up if you do not place the explosives quickly after it drops.
Double revive still works and is so helpful.
2 set pieces drop the first time you do it per week, one from weekly and one from the boss. The piece that is your weekly completion reward is NOT tradable. Every time you do it after that the boss will drop one gear set item. This IS tradable. You can run this as many times as you like and still get the boss drop, much like Challenge mode.
Thank you to /u/jasonneal1: As of right now if you have already received your weekly reward but join a party where the host HAS NOT then you will receive a new reward if you complete it with them.
Gear set pieces drop 2 HE materials versus 1 when dismantled.
This is absolutely doable with 3 people. It's not hard at all once you get the rythm but it IS slow and grindy. Be patient and you'll get it done.
FREE REVIVES! If your teammates are dead on explosive rounds and you successfully grab, plant and defend the explosives they will be brought back to life.

Thanks to /u/GunBrothersGaming: Throwing a turret after round 11 will result in the turret being hacked within 5 seconds.
Every bomb wave, not just 15 will respawn enemies if you don't plant the bomb in the allotted time. Any enemies killed will respawn. Wave 4, 8, 11, and 15 are bomb rounds
This is actually super helpful in round 15 because it also means that enemies despawn as soon as the "boss" dies. My group only kills the bomb carrier on the last round and then just runs it to make it faster.
If you see the red laser above the stairs in the center (or wherever you may be camping) do your best to avoid it. The turrets hurt and make it very difficult to move.
There are two panels that temporarily disable the turrets. There's really only enough time to use it to get in there and plant the bombs and then re-activate a second time to escape back to your hiding place of choice.
Thank you to /u/Motojoe23: EMP grenades work on these turrets but for a short time, about 3 seconds. This can be used when you want to run to disable them without the hassle of tanking them.
Thank you to /u/Hyde_Train: One person can successfully run the bomb. Have someone throw a turret in front of the apc, the turrets will aggro on it but can't kill it.
The missile are a grenade-ish sized AoE but really hurt. Even tanky mammoth's can be one shot. When you hear the beep-beep-beep, run out of the red ASAP.
Pick off a few enemies at the start from the top, but don't stay there too long. That AoE will become really tiring really fast. As soon as you feel confident your group can survive a sprint, run to the center of the room. Don't wait for the second wave to spawn in, it'll just prolong things.
If you're scared to run the explosives/not quite tanky enough, it's really easy to leave someone in the center, out of harm's way with a res signature skill up. If people drop, pop the sig and save a wipe. Only 3 people are needed to run it anyway.
Challenge mode and hard mode have the same mechanics. The enemies are simply tougher in challenge mode and can start adding up quick if you don't kill them fast enough.
There is a weekly bonus for each level of difficulty.

Humans are weird: Plant the flag: A story from the glorious adventures of the mixed species 17th Engineer Battalion

“Here are the latest base reports, sir.”
Commander Zavar opened his eyes and saw the stack of files the clerk had laid on his desk. It was easily the length of his arm and contained every detail of events for the last week on his base. He sighed loudly and dismissed the clerk as he reached to the bottom drawer of his desk and pulled out a bottle of Nebulion liquor.
The bottle had been given to him by his then commander as a congratulation gift for being promoted to commander and given command over this military base. Zavar had told himself he would save it for a special occasion, but now with the bottle half empty it was the only thing keeping him sane these last few months.
It had been nearly two months since the “human” reinforcements had arrived to reinforce his base for the upcoming offensive. Before they had arrived his weekly reports could be summarized on a single page of paper. With the human mixed species battalion roaming his base the list of reports and incidents had grown to what he now saw dominating his desk.
He poured himself a glass and began to casually go through the reports; his glass needing refilling after making it every three or so reports in.
A report from the base head chef making complaints for the food requirements for the Drone warrior named “Dro”, with a citation of an incident were the head chef forgot to lock the meat locker and returned to find Dro devouring some twenty pound of frozen meat.
A report from the supply officer reporting an increase in missing equipment and supplies from the depot with a notation that they believe the Globnites are responsible. The supply officer entered the human contingent barracks and found several of the listed missing items, yet the human forces claim no knowledge as how they arrived there.
A report stating one of the unused training areas had been converted into a Combra battle pit and that several Combra soldiers held routine bouts against any challengers. Numerous humans have been seen congregating around the area and have begun placing bets on matches.
A report from the Valmorian medic requesting more medical supplies to treat the injuries from said battle pit fights.
A report comprised by several of his own officers refusing to deal with the Flinchestet communication specialist of the 17th citing numerous instances of unfruitful discussions that devolve into the Flinchestet mocking them for their “underdeveloped minds”.
Zavar read report after report after report, slowly chipping away at the contents of the bottle, until finally the bottle ran empty and the commander shoved the pile of reports off his desk in a loud clutter.
Ever since the human contingent of soldiers had come to his base it had been a never ending series of headaches. It was true that the engineers had expanded the base and reinforced it heavily with new perimeter walls, turrets, trenches, and automated drone alert systems; but for every improvement they made the battalion itself made two more problems. Worse still was the friction that they were creating with his forces. It was taking all of his command training to keep his own forces in line from turning their weapons on the human contingent.
The Galaxian’s were largely a conservative species preferring strict discipline within their military ranks. So being forced to operate alongside the mixed species battalion the humans had sent them, with their wildly different traditions and practices, they were put under a daily mental strain.
He had previously called in the human contingent’s leader, the Kliptec Lt. Colonel Reginal Seth, but their discussions over the matter were anything but fruitful.
“The human government has recognized all the traditions of its citizens,” the Lt. Colonel had begun when Zavar had called him into his office to discuss the seemingly out of control behavior of their allies, “regardless of if the genetics of said citizen.”
Zavar rubbed his eyes to ease the pain of remembering the meeting. It had been like talking to a brick wall.
“Your soldiers are out of control.” Zavar had stated bluntly. “Either you need to rein them in or I will be forced to do so.”
“You lack the authority to issue orders to me or my men.” The Lt. Colonel countered. “We may be allies here, but as I stated on the landing fields when we first arrived my battalion only takes orders directly from our government.”
The Kliptec could barely fit inside his office at the time. Though their upper humanoid body remained in front of his desk, Zavar had noted with mild interest that the lower reptilian portion of his body had continued to slide back and forth across the floor as if it couldn’t be bothered to hold still. It was frankly a disturbing and insulting.
“In the spirit of our alliance I will do better to, limit, my soldiers interactions with yours to prevent further conflict.” The Kliptec remarked dryly, “But understand that should you or one of your officers attempt to order them around I cannot guarantee that things will end well for you.”
He looked Zavar directly in the eye to show that he was deadly serious. “That drone that unnerved your men before, Dro, he in particular is not fond of strangers and I would hate for one of your men to be mistaken for lunch by him.”
That had been the last official face to face contact that Galaxian had held with the human contingent leader. True to their word the interactions between the human contingent and the Galaxian’s had diminished, but the friction was still there.
“Human contingent” Zavar thought to himself in disgust. What a confusing notion.
One would believe humans would use humans as their primary soldiers, and Zavar had heard many a tale about their professionalism. Yet when he was given reinforcements from humanity they turn out to be alien species that had settled in human territory and gained citizenship.
Instead of professionals he had been given squabbling children. Instead of discipline he had been given chaos in a bottle. Instead of-
“Commander Zavar, urgent message from Galaxian command.”
His clerk’s voice cut off the drunken spiral of depression and the base commander straightened up. “This late?” he asked as he pulled himself together and tried to shake off the grogginess.
The holographic projector built into his desk activated and commander Zavar listened with a dread he had not felt in some time. --------------------
The first signs Lt. Colonel Reginal Seth knew something was wrong was when he was awoken by the sounds of warning sirens going off around the base. The second and more obvious sign was when the door to his quarters was suddenly kicked in by his second in command.
“The Galaxians are up to something.” Colonel O’Brian stated as Reginal blinked his eyes clear. “They’ve not said anything to us but every one of them is assembling on the landing fields right now.”
Turning to see his clock listing it far too early in the morning Reginal let out a long sigh as he untangled himself and donned his uniform.
“I swear if this is another drill meant to show off Galaxian superiority I might just tell Dro to eat him.” This got a stifled chuckle out of O’Brian. He had served with the Lt. Colonel since the battalions founding back on earth and though he had been hesitant to take orders from a non-human the prejudice and suspicion gave way to trust and loyalty.
The pair left the officers barracks and went to the landing pads. Reginal was surprised to see O’Brian’s statement was far from an overstatement. Nearly every Galaxian on the base was seemingly standing at the ready on the landing pads while their commander Zavar was marshaling a series of ground transports loading up hardware.
Reginal tapped O’Brian on the shoulder and pointed towards the Galaxian commander and his second in command pulled the vehicle up alongside them.
“Commander” the Lt Colonel greeted as he exited the vehicle and snapped a quick salute. The Galaxian returned a quick salute but otherwise failed to respond in any other way.
“Would you mind telling me what is going on?” Reginal asked again, this time louder to be heard over the roaming transport vehicles passing by. Commander Zavar turned to Reginal, his face grim.
“Within the last hour I have just received intelligence that our enemies have broken through the front lines and are sending several military contingents to capture this base.”
Another transport drove by and Zavar waited before continuing. “I have been ordered to evacuate all military personnel and material to a safer location.”
“You do not intend to defend the base?” O’Brian asked. “What the hell was the point of our being here if not to hold this base?”
It looked like O’Brian was about to go into a further heated triad when Reginal forestalled him. “We have not received any such orders or intelligence with regards to these new developments.”
“Our intelligence network is superior.” The Galaxian commander stated much to the ire of everyone else present. “And since we do not share the same chain of command there was no need to share such information with you at this time.”
Reginal bit back a rather unbecoming remark at this.
Turning to O’Brian he gave the order for the entire battalion to assemble on the landing fields as well. ------------------------
Roughly two hours passed and both the Galaxian forces and the 17th Engineer Battalion were now both assembled on the landing pads within the base. Each eyed the other with a mixture of distaste but remained silent until Reginal stepped before his men.
“I imagine many of you are wondering why we are here right now.” The Lt. Colonel began as he addressed his men.
“Late last night Commander Zavar received a priority transmission stating that enemy forces had breached the frontline and were making for this base to capture it.”
This drew several murmurs within the 17th but Reginal held up for silence as he continued.
“In response to these recent developments Zavar has been ordered to abandon the base and retrieve as much military personnel and property as he can back to a safer location.”
It was here that the reptilian commander paused. He looked out over his men; soldiers he had known for some time now yet had never graced the fields of war in true fashion. Until now……
“We of the 17th will be staying.”
This drew several gasps from both contingents and Zavar made to step forward and openly question the Lt. Colonel’s decision but was blocked by a waiting O’Brian.
‘We have received no new orders from command, and so we shall continue with our original order to defend and hold this base until such a time as ordered otherwise.”
Reginal motioned to one of the soldiers in the front ranks holding the battalion colors. Zavar saw it was the Draxic who had originally been carrying the heavy weapons unit across his shoulders as easily as a child holding a frozen cone when the 17th had first arrived at the base.
The Lt. Colonel nodded to the Draxic who then took the flag pole, raised it high into the air, and then brought it down with such force that the pole broke through the landing pad concrete. The sounds of the impact made many of the Galaxian’s jolt in surprise while the 17th contingent looked on in silence as their commander spoke once more.
“There is a story of the first battle the 17thengineer battalion ever fought in that I wish to share with you.” Reginal started. “They had been surrounded and cut off from their allies. Their commander saw the shadow of defeat slowly creep in and so ordered their flag be planted into the ground that they stood upon.”
“He said to them “So long as this flag does not touch the ground we are not defeated. So long as this flag flies high our enemies will know the folly of their failure to think they could defeat us. I look out at you now and in every man here I see a hero ready to strike down a hundred men before they should fall and send the planet trembling with their passing.””
‘I look out to you all now and though many of us are not human I still see the heroes our forbearers spoke of within each of you. I see warriors gathered from across the stars from a dozen different worlds that can shatter mountains and move rivers with a brush of your arms. I see heroes ready to carve their names and deeds into the heart of the galaxy itself.”
“So we shall stay, we shall meet our enemy head on and not flee, we shall shatter them upon our defenses, and we shall emerge victorious and show them that the soldiers of the 17th Engineer Battalion are mother fuckers not to be messed with!”
A thunderous chorus of cheers came from the soldiers of the 17th. The Galaxians watched in disbelief as the voices of a dozen different languages cried out for the prospect of the coming annihilation as if it was the greatest moment in their lives.
Commander Zavar watched and grunted. The fools would be dead by weeks end.

“Oh christ, here he comes.” Duck mutters to Indrid as he pumps hazelnut syrup into a cup, “the one I was tellin you about.”
Indrid, stationed at the counter, tilts his head as he watches the windows, “would he be the one that looks like a lumberjack or the one who looks like a secret agent?”
“The second one. I dunno what it is, but his order drives me fuckin nuts. It’s super specific; dark roast, single origin only, heavy cream until it turns about that color” he points to the wall, “with a half pump of caramel and a half pump of vanilla. You’re gonna be that specific, just make it at home.” He’s busy putting a lid on the drink and therefore misses Indrid’s hand waving.
“I do, and it’s not that hard.” A deep voice makes him turn; the lumberjack, looking more amused than annoyed.
“And since you know my order so well already” the other man, smile, tight lipped, at him before turning to Indrid, “one of those and one large, black coffee.”
Duck starts the drink, making it as fast as he can so he can slink off into the back room. Shit, if the guy rats on him he could get in trouble, he’s already on thin ice after throwing out some rich kid for harassing the staff.
Indrid takes the drinks, mouths, “go” and heads around the counter while Duck makes a bee-line for the supply closet.

Indrid sets the cups down in front of the two men, then slides a plate with a large, hot monster cookie on it between them.
“On the house, as they say.”
“This an apology cookie or a ‘don’t give us a bad review’ cookie?” The lumberjack smirks.
“Both.” Indrid says mildly, smiling and returning to his post.
As he walks away he hears the deep voice whisper, “wouldn’t kick that one outta bed for eating crackers.”
A soft laugh, “Agreed. Pity his friend is an ass.”
When Jake and Hollis arrive a few minutes later to take over for him and Duck, he finds his boyfriend clonking his head into the wall by the break room.
“Don’t worry, love, I smoothed things over.”
“Thanks. Just feel like a dipshit. Both for gettin overheard and complainin in the first place.”
“I assumed it was stress from waiting on interview results.”
“Yeah.” Duck pulls on his jacket, “still feel shitty though.”
“Come, let’s go home. I have some ideas for relaxation.” He purrs, kissing Duck’s cheek.
“How may of ‘em are fuckin’-based?”
“Half.”
“Good, gives us some variety just in case.”

“We’ve paired you with another duo, if that’s okay?”
“Sure” Duck smiles at the Escape Room employee, takes Indrid’s hand as they follow him down the hall, “Aubrey says these are more fun in a group.”
“I look forward to--oh dear.”
Duck turns to see the pair from the coffee shop last week. The lumberjack looks about the same, but the secret agent is dressed more casually than usual. His black hair is loose rather than slicked back, and he’s in jeans and shirt that reads, “Champ” with a dark outline of sea monster on the front. He almost looks cute.
“You’ve been trapped in the lair of hostile, highly intelligent space aliens. You have an hour to escape. Good luck” The employee shuts the door, leaving the pairs to stare at each other.
“Uh, hi. Again.” Duck waves awkwardly
“Hey.” The lumberjack waves back, “so, uh, this is hella awkward, right?”
“Yes.” The other three respond.
“Cool. Look, I dunno about you but I don’t wanna get dissected by aliens. So, bygones?”
The others nods and he smiles, “I’m Barclay, this is Joseph. My, uh, my boyfriend.” It’s distinctly odd watching such a large man blush like a schoolgirl. Joseph smiles, kisses his cheek, then looks around the room.
“Alright, we need to find the four symbol code to enter onto that pad. Spread out and look for places symbols might be hidden.”
They find the first one easily. Indrid’s eye for color and patterns helps them locate the second, and when a clue points to the third being high up, instead of having to construct a makeshift ladder or step-stool, Barclay simply reaches up and grabs it. It does not escape Duck’s notice that both Indrid and Joseph get appreciative looks on their faces when Barclay then moves a “cloning pod” out of the way all by himself.
“I suspect the last symbol is hidden one something that is in...that hole.” Joseph points to the newly revealed wall lined with several cubbies, one of which has danger signs written all around it.
“Not it. Too close to a garbage disposal, and I have nightmares about putting my hand down that at the wrong time.” Barclay shudders.
“I would also prefer not to be the one to reach in; such elements often have a loud noise gimmick and I do not enjoy that.”
Joseph glances at Duck, blue eyes glinting with a not-entirely-friendly challenge.
“Fuck it, I’ll do it.” Duck steps forward and cautiously slides his hand in. Indrid’s instinct was right, as the whole starts vibrating with a loud, grinding sound. Indrid yelps, grabbing the other two men, who in turn jump and scream in surprise. Duck grits his teeth, fights the urge to pull back, and finds a smooth tile waiting for him. When he removes his hand the noise stops, and he grins, triumphant, as he shows off the last symbol.
“WHOO!” Barclay cheers and high-fives Duck as Joseph punches in the symbols, stopping the timer on the wall, “shit, that was wild man, scared the living hell outta me and I wasn’t even the one doing it.”
“Mmmm, my brave hero.” Indrid drapes his arms over his shoulder, kissing him.
“Sap.” Duck teases, kissing him back.
“You know, we make a pretty good team.” Joseph brushes stray hair off his face.
“Yeah. Would, um, would you guys like to go grab coffee or something?” Barclay looks genuinely hopeful, which is why, ten minutes later, Duck is sitting across from Joseph in a dark-wood coffee shop. Indrid has excused himself to wash his hands and Barclay is outside taking a phone call from someone named Mama.
Duck sips his coffee (black) as he watches Joseph measure cream into his mug.
“That explains it; guys who drink black coffee are always weird about guys who don’t.”
“Don’t Barclay drink his black?”
“Only when we’re out, when we’re at home he’s always making fancy coffee. Trying out new recipes. It works well. Or, um, mostly well. There was a green tea cherry espresso that was not his finest.”
“Eech. Heh, that reminds me of the time ‘Drid was so groggy he poured strawberry syrup into his coffee instead of caramel. Didn’t phase him one bit, but I felt like I was kissin a berry patch the whole day. Swear the man’s half moth or some shit from how much sugar he drinks.”
Joseph snickers, “sorry, imagining Indrid as a mothman is a funny image.”
Duck pictures it and giggles, which makes Joseph laugh harder. When they recover, he scratches the back of his neck, “Look, I’m sorry I was a dick about your coffee order. Just havin one of those weeks where everythin got on my nerves.”
“It’s alright. I’m not all that bothered by it. Not intellectually, anyway. Being particular or precise is something people have been, um, less than kind to me about in the past.”
“Nothin wrong with knowin what you like.”
Joseph glances out the window at Barclay, “No, no there’s not.”

It becomes a weekly arrangement; the four of them meet for some kind of activity, then go to lunch or dinner. Duck learns many things over those weeks; that Barclay can figure out how to reverse engineer Indrid’s favorite cupcakes from a local bakery, that Joseph has a worryingly deep yet very endearing knowledge of bad horror movies. That while Joseph is terrifying during a trivia match, Duck can still wipe the floor with everyone when it comes to the science categories. He learns that Joseph is trans, like him, and that Barclay and Indrid actually went to the same high school but were two years apart and thus didn’t know each other.
Right now, he’s learning that he’s not as good at laser tag as he thought he was.
They went during the cheaper hours, mid-afternoon on a Sunday, and while all four of them are on the same team they’ve gotten separated in the neon-tinted darkness.
He can tell the enemy team has spotted him, and is moving as fast as he can out of range, when a hand reaches out of a darkened turret and pulls him in.
“GAHoh, phew, scared the hell outta me Joe.”
“Sorry, it was safer than calling out.” The space is small, built for kids rather than two twenty-six year olds, and so Joe is pressed right up against him as he watches the door. He might be the only guy Duck knows who wears honest to god cologne, clean and minty smelling, and the scent wraps around him when Joe pulls him back against his chest to hide them from passing opponents.
“Fuck, that was close.” He whispers.
“Don’t worry” Joe murmurs in his ear, voice huskier than normal, “you’ve got me to look out for you.” He breaks away as if nothing happened, pulls Duck’s body out into the glowing chaos, while his mind stays in the little room, wondering what the fuck that was.

“Can’t believe we got our asses handed to us by a bunch of eleven year olds.” Duck groans as they sit, licking their wounds along with soft-serve from a tiny shack that Barclay swears by.
“That one blonde girl is gonna grow up to be a sniper.” Barclay offers his cone (chocolate and sour cherry) to Joseph, who takes a prim bite.
“It may run in the family; I think her dad was the one with the ‘Go Army’ shirt.”
“Oh, were we not supposed to be going easy on them?” Indrid cocks his head. The others stare at him in mute shock.
“I’m kidding; I was utterly outmatched in there.” He grins before dragging his tongue up his cone (pineapple and marshmallow). When he reaches the tip he opens his mouth wider, taking it all in with a satisfied moan. He pulls off, stray ice cream dribbling down his chin until Joe hands him a napkin. Indrid thanks him, then proceeds to do the exact same thing, over and over, and Duck realizes neither of the other men have looked away from his boyfriend. Barclay’s legs are now crossed, and Joe’s cheeks are pink. Duck can’t really blame them--he knows exactly what Indrid can do with that mouth--but what’s stranger is he doesn’t feel jealous or annoyed. He knows Indrid sometimes struggles with looking, in his own words, “offputting.” It’s nice to see two other people catch on to just how hot he is.
Then again, he kind of wishes Joe would stop staring and eat his own cone; he wants to see what his tongue can do, too.

“Watcha drawin’?” Duck slides onto the couch next to Indrid.
“Just random images.”
“That us with Joe and Barclay?”
“I, ah, yes it is.”
“Like it a lot. Christ you’re talented, it’s like how much you like us is comin’ right off the page.”
“Is, ah, is that so? I hadn’t noticed, ah, oh dear, I just remembered I need to go call Jake about covering my shift.”

Duck: That new barcade is finally open, wanna come with us on Saturday?
Barclay: Wish we could, but we got a friends birthday that night.
Duck: No big, let us know if you want to catch a flick on Sunday
Barclay sets the phone down, not remembering it’s a group text until Joe pokes his head out of the bedroom.
“Shit, whose birthday is on Saturday? We need to get a gift.”
“Oh, uh, no, no one. Just, uh, didn’t feel like going out but didn’t want them to think I was, like, angry or something. Sorry, shoulda asked if you wanted to go without me, shit, that was rude.”
“It’s alright, I don’t mind time that’s just for us.” He crosses the living room, fiddles with Barclays hair, “but let me know if you want to see a movie Sunday, I’m happy either way.”
“Uhuh, will do.” Barclay nods, not really paying attention, as he imagines silvery hair in the dark theater and holding slender, cool fingers in his own.

“Why do I get the feeling you don’t actually have that DVD to loan me?”
“I do” Duck shuts the apartment door behind Joe, “but we got some things to discuss first.” He waits until Joe is sitting next to Barclay (lured here by the promise of cookies) and across from Indrid (lives here, not that hard to lure).
“Look, I don’t think I really gotta point out how weird it is that we went from hangin out every week to not seein’ each other for near a month. But what I do gotta point out is why it’s happenin’.”
“We’ve all been busy?” Joe hazards.
“Yeah, but we all were busy before and we made time for each other. Now we, myself included, are cancelin shit.” He takes a deep breath, “Barclay, Joe, you both got a thing for ‘Drid, don’t you?”
Joe nods while Barclay blushes and mutters, “yeah.”
“And ‘Drid, you got a thing for both of them?”
His boyfriend shifts nervously in his seat, but nods all the same. Barclay looks genuinely surprised.
“Well, you three ain’t the only ones realizin’ you want more than you got. Joe, I, uh, I really like you. As in wanna date you. So, uh, that’s where we’re at.” He sits down next to Indrid, who instantly takes his hand.
“That’s...wait, don’t we all want the same thing?” Joe looks between them, puzzled.
“You’d really be okay with me dating Indrid?” Barclay asks softly.
“We’d both be dating him. And I’d be dating Duck as well as you two. Assuming that was alright with Indrid?”
“....You know, I think it is.” Indrid squeezes Duck’s hand, “I was afraid to admit how I felt; I didn’t want to come between you and Barclay, because you clearly love each other, and I couldn’t bear the thought of losing Duck. But I’ve also seen how happy he is around you, Joseph; there is no reason we could not all work things out to be happy as a, ah, polycule? Is that the term?”
“Think so.” Barclay relaxes, “fuck, I felt so bad thinking that wanting Indrid would fuck everything up, don’t know what to do with my self now that I’m not stressing about it.”
“I propose we order dinner and just...talk.” Indrid rests his head on Duck’s shoulder, “I think that will help us sort out where to go from here.”
Duck orders takeout from the Chinese place down the block as Indrid and Joe arrange the living room into a place where they can all sit together comfortably and Barclay grab drinks. Soon they’re gathered on the floor, working out logistics and boundaries and hopes and fears between bites of fried rice and chow mein. Joe keeps notes, curling closer to Duck as the evening goes on.
There’s a part of him that wants to jump straight to sex, to pin Joe to floor and fuck him while his other boyfriends do what they want to him, to Duck, to each other. But this thing between them is a new leaf in spring, vulnerable and just beginning to grow.
So, after dinner, they cuddle up on the couch and floor to watch the midnight movie on local T.V, hands tentatively finding each other and bodies gradually resting closer together in new configurations.
He falls asleep on the floor, Indrid spooning him and Joe resting his head on his belly. Wakes up with Joe curled around him and Barclay cuddled up to Indrid, snoring softly.
Duck slips out of the configuration, pads into the kitchen to start coffee. When Joe sneaks up behind him he gasps, snickers as the taller man kisses him good morning. Then he grabs two mugs, smiling to himself at his luck as he opens the fridge. After all, he already knows just how his new boyfriend likes his coffee.

The free version only gives you a taste of the gameplay reserving the campaign and multiplayer for a $6.99 in-app purchase. Gameloft did something a little differently with the pricing of Starfront. A rich storyline, intricate 3D visuals, an awesome interface, and tons of replay make Starfront an RTS achievement. With no official Starcraft for iOS, Starfront is the next best thing. Whatever game mode you select, the action is intense and smooth even with dozens of units at play. There are five different multiplayer maps for up to four-player battles online through Gameloft’s service or local via wifi or bluetooth. In skirmish mode, you can create your own single-player battles, and the different multiplayer options give you unlimited replay. Gameplay extends well beyond the extensive campaign. Unfortunately, Starfront is not native to the iPad-a major oversight by Gameloft in my opinion. Touch screens are made for RTS games, and once you’ve learned to use more than one finger, you’ll be tapping your units around the maps with the greatest of ease. You can hide and reveal menus as you need them freeing much of the screen for the impressive visuals. Starfront does an excellent job by giving you instant access to necessary controls and status information. RTS games often succeed or fail based upon their interfaces, and the small screen on an iPhone or iPod touch makes this an extra challenge. You’ll mine minerals to construct buildings and train armies with whom you’ll accomplish your objectives-usually defeating the enemy races. The gameplay, despite being on a mobile platform, is also typical of RTS games.

Practice 1: Development Project 2 - Stylized Tank - Technical Development
- From zero to h... semi-competent -
As mentioned the goal of this project was to get stuck in with Zbrush, after watching and following along with the tutorials mentioned in my 3D printing weekly challenge post I was able to get to grips with the camera controls and basic UI. I felt as if I were ready to start sculpting, but with a lack of knowledge as to how to achieve the stylized look I was hoping for. Stylized Station is a well known YouTube channel providing many different tutorials and other content in regard to stylized art.
"The Ultimate Intro to Stylized Sculpting - Tips & Tricks for Beginner" published by Stylized Station in late 2020 this tutorial goes over a variety of brushes used to create stylized edges, as well as how to use them effectively, and using alphas to project detail onto the plain surfaces. I found this tutorial extremely helpful, upon completion I was able to get stuck right into sculpting my model, learning and improving on the way.
Using Zbrush's Dynamesh feature to acquire the geometry density that best suited my sculpting and a combination of the Trim Smooth Edge brush and Flatten I was able to create the same effect I had achieved in Blender.
Michael Vicente, a Senior Artist at Blizzard Entertainment has created an "Orb Brush Pack" available for free download of Gumroad. This pack offers a variety of brushes to help with stylized art, including the Orb Edge Flatten and Orb Metal Hammered Brushes. Which I used extensively throughout this project to help create those stylized edges and break up the empty open spaces.

Along with Black Diamond's "20 Stylized Metal Alphas" Pack, providing a variety of metal damage alphas.
And finally I also used Piotr Bieryt's "Welding Brushes for Zbrush" pack, providing tools to create weld marks on an object.

With a combination of all these different Brushes/Alphas I was able to create and effect which I was happy with. As this object was rather large, it did take a long time to sculpt all of the detail, below is an example of the final result from the tanks turret.
Using a mixed of stylized edges and semi-realistic damages I created a style that I was happy with.
There where a few other skills I learnt within Zbrush which are worth mentioning, such as:
Zmodeler - for low poly creation or manipulation
Polygroups - for isolating parts of the object when sculpting
Dynamesh - for retopologising the asset when more detail is needed
Zremesher - for retopologising and decimating an asset for export
My skills within Zbrush have come leaps and bounds since the start of this project, and I am extremely happy with the results I have so far been able to create.
- Low-poly and UV mapping -
The final result for the low-poly asset came out at just under 45k Polys, a respectable number for a Hero vehicle. This could be optimized down further if this where a foreground or background prop. The asset is split into 3 UV maps, with the tracks and wheels sharing an identical map on either side.
Baking and texturing was completed inside Substance Painter and will be showcase in the next post. Once again I have made fantastic technical and creative progress with this development project setting my path for the future!

Borderlands 3 Vault Cards Borderlands 3 the Director’s Cut will come with 3 Vault Cards. These cards will provide you with different challenges. By completing these you will earn XP that also goes towards your Vault Card. By doing so you will be able to unlock unique cosmetics and exclusive gear. There will be over 100 different challenges for you to complete. Daily challenges are easy to complete while weekly challenges are challenging to complete. Daily Kill a specific named enemy Kill 30 enemies with a vehicle Complete Slaughter Star 3000 Weekly Kill 300 enemies with a specific elemental damage type Kill 5 Raid Bosses You will find these Vault Cards in your menu as they will get a dedicated tab. The theme is great and I love everything about it! Now I’m curious what those new legendary weapons will do. If you don’t know what to do during the endgame of Borderlands or are looking for specific challenges to complete these Vault Cards provide you with a goal. Now I’m curious what the theme is for the other 2 Vault Cards.

Over time, we have added many mobility options, both itemized and map-based. We feel that Season X is better experienced with a reduction in mobility. As with all changes, we’ll keep a close eye on how this affects the player experience.

Missions
Missions are a series of thematic objectives that grant rewards. As you complete these objectives, you'll earn Battle Stars, XP, and exclusive cosmetic items.

Limited Time Missions
Limited Time Missions are available to all players.
Daily Challenges have been replaced by Limited Time Missions.
Each Limited Time Mission contains Objectives that unlock over the course of a week.
One Objective unlocks each day, even if you don’t log in, and the Mission expires after 7 days. So make sure to finish all your Objectives in that Week’s Limited Time Mission before the 7th day ends!
A new Limited Time Mission is available each week.
NOTE: Any Challenge that previously required Daily Challenges to complete can now be completed with Limited Time Mission Objectives.

Auto-fire system improvements:
We’ve re-tuned Auto-fire for every weapon with this update and would love specific and detailed weapon feedback so that we can continue to improve it.
If you want to try it out and don't use Auto-fire already, go into your HUD settings and enable Auto-fire.
Added a new setting: Tap to Search/Interact for Controllers.
Added a message for devices on Android that have the Sensor Pressure settings (S8, S8+, S9, S9+, and Note 9) to inform players about the settings being active.
Players would unintentionally return to the Home screen due to this setting being active.

Keep Calm and Carry On: Britain’s stately homes on lockdown
Britain’s stately homes were forced to close their doors during the recent lockdown. These ancient walls are used to surviving against the odds – but how have they coped in the current crisis?
On 3 May 1950 Alnwick Castle opened its doors to visitors for the first time, and 100 eager tourists queued up to buy a ticket in the first hour. Britain’s second-largest privately inhabited castle (after Windsor), home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, it has come a long way since, with soaring visitor numbers boosted by appearances in the Harry Potter films.
But this year on the 70th anniversary of Alnwick’s opening, the famous gardens lay quietly deserted and the castle’s 150 rooms were eerily empty of visitors. High above the historic battlements a blue NHS flag fluttered from the flagpole.
Alnwick has stood for over 900 years, witnessing wars, famine and disease. But like Britain’s other castles and stately homes it was abruptly forced to close its doors to the public this spring due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Most of Britain’s best-known ‘statelies’ are owned and cared for independently, rather than by government or national charities. They are hugely expensive to run, and in most cases, visitor numbers are the key to survival. In response to the pandemic, tickets and tours were hastily cancelled, tearooms and gift shops closed. Income for these historic houses was reduced to zero overnight.
Day-to-day management was another complication. In bygone times, a vast team of ‘downstairs’ staff would have bustled upstairs at the ring of a bell to attend to their master’s and mistress’s every whim. Chambermaids and scullery girls are hard to come by these days, but modern-day stately homes still have an army of staff. Their job, by and large, is to look after the house rather than the family within – from gardeners that tend the prize roses and farmers working on the estate to the curators that look after precious art collections.

With staff sent home, in many cases owners found themselves managing vast estates single-handedly, and in sole charge of houses with hundreds of rooms. Despite the challenges, the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ spirit prevailed. The houses united to show their show support for NHS key workers: as the nation joined in with the weekly ‘clap for carers’ from their doorsteps, stately homes and castles lit up their facades in blue, hoisted NHS flags from historic battlements or planted avenues of blue lavender in their gardens.
Chatsworth House, in the Peak District, rose to the challenge by supporting local communities. Following the house’s closure in late March, the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire donated 240kg of chocolate eggs intended for the annual Easter egg hunt to local food banks. The house also offered holiday cottages on the estate to frontline NHS workers to stay in for free, while the chefs in the restaurant kitchens turned their hands to preparing meals for those in need in the community.
Down in rural Berkshire, Highclere Castle – unmistakeable, of course, as Downton Abbey of the ever-popular TV series – serenely surveys 1,000 acres of Capability Brown parkland as it has done for centuries. Ordinarily, the arrival of warmer weather would see streams of visitors, but this spring, when the wildflower meadow and ornamental Monk’s Garden burst into bloom only the lord and lady of the manor were there to see it.

Hosting visitors being out of the question, technology gave Highclere other ways to connect. “We were 100 per cent not virtual,��� says Lady Carnarvon. “We’ve tried to turn ourselves around.” Lady Carnarvon’s new podcast (with her husband the Earl as the first guest) is now available, while the Highclere Instagram account shared glimpses of lockdown life with its legion of fans; posts have included Lady Mary the lop-eared pig’s new litter of piglets, daily walks with the dogs, virtual cocktail parties and cookery lessons from Lady Carnarvon’s kitchen.
In Scotland, on the shores of Loch Fyne, romantic Inveraray Castle stands in spectacular isolation – a state shared, during lockdown, by the family that live there, the Duke and Duchess of Argyll and their three children. Overnight, the Duchess tell us, she became “the cleaner, mender, teacher, gardener, tidy-er.. Same as most people but probably in a bigger house!” The castle is part of a small remote community, which pooled resources during lockdown. “I have been growing lettuce and herbs, someone else has chickens, someone wants flour…”
Inveraray, whose architecture mixes Baroque, Palladian and Gothic styles, is the seat of Clan Campbell. It is full of treasures, and the castle’s closure gave the family a chance to explore its hidden corners: “For the first time since we inherited the house we’ve had time to go into every nook and cranny. Find the damp patches and leaks for ourselves, clear attics and find some historical gems, from a piping banner that would have been carried into war to letters from various generations.”
Down in Hertfordshire, Knebworth is a lavish Tudor manor, home to the Lytton family for over 500 years. If it looks familiar, it may be because Knebworth appeared as Balmoral in The Crown – though its facade, covered with turrets, domes and gargoyles, may trump even the Queen’s Highland home for architectural splendour.
Playwright and politician Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton – author of the ominous line “It was a dark and stormy night” – lived here in Victorian times; the pandemic has surely been Knebworth’s ‘darkest night’ of all.
“Having to shut our House, Park and Gardens was devastating to us,” says Martha Lytton Cobbold, who lives at Knebworth with her husband Henry. The house is particularly in demand as a film location and is world-famous as a festival venue – a reputation cemented by the Rolling Stones’ iconic concert here in 1976. Most of this summer’s events had to be cancelled in light of the coronavirus crisis.
Happily, Knebworth and other historic houses, symbols of permanence and resilience in a topsy-turvy world, have weathered the storm, recently reopening their doors to the public.
“It was very strange being closed,” says Martha. “It’s not what [the house] was designed and built for, and we felt much happier when visitors were able to come back.” For now, visitor numbers are capped and a one-way route has been devised around the house, in accordance with government guidelines.
“We have to adapt to survive,” she adds, “and this is what we have done for centuries.”
