What if Sam was Danny's bully and not Dash

So I've been thinking lately about how Sam is a character who is often treated like a "princess" — someone who can do no wrong and always holds the moral high ground. I don't like that. Not that there aren't parts of Sam's character I like — I do appreciate that she's supportive of animals, cares about the environment, and is a vegetarian or vegan. I also think it's interesting to consider why she made those choices. But the way she's portrayed feels like she's put on this pedestal, and I wish her character had a little more depth.

Sam has a lot of interesting traits that I find compelling. Her activism, especially around environmental issues and animal abuse, is a big part of her character, and I think that's great. But I wonder: why does Sam get to be Danny's "friend" instead of his bully? It would make more sense if Sam were the one bullying Danny, not Dash. Let me explain.

Dash is definitely Danny's bully, but there's no clear reason in the show for why Dash hates Danny. We never get a flashback or any real explanation. It just seems like Dash hates Danny because... he does. One assumption might be that Dash resents Danny's parents because they're ghost-hunting scientists, and nobody believes in ghosts until Danny activates the portal and gains his ghost powers. But that explanation feels shallow. That could be part of the reason, but it doesn't seem like the main one. Why does Dash bully Danny? Maybe it's his home life, or maybe he's hiding his sexuality, or there could be other reasons. Some fanfics and Tumblr stories explore these aspects of Dash's character, which I think makes him more interesting and well-rounded.

For example, in my headcanon, Danny is really good at academics. Maybe he even participated in a mathlete event or something and did really well. Dash's father might be really into math or be a competitive math professor, and he resents that Dash doesn't care about academics. Maybe Dash's father has said something like, "I wish you were more like Danny Fenton. He's good at school, even though he's not great at sports." That could be one of the reasons Dash hates Danny — Danny got his father's attention by excelling in academics, while Dash struggles in that area.

There are a lot of possibilities, and I think Dash's character could be more complex if we explored his background more. Maybe his parents are homophobic, and Dash is secretly gay but can't come out, so he takes his frustration out on Danny. There are plenty of ways to give Dash more depth, making him less of a one-dimensional bully and more of a character with a backstory that makes sense.

This leads me to think that Sam could have been Danny's foil or his bully at Casper High. Danny's low status at school doesn't seem to make much sense. If it's because of his parents' reputation, okay — but Jazz has a really good reputation at Casper High, so why would Danny's reputation be so low when his sister is popular? You could argue that Jazz worked for her reputation, but couldn't you also say the same thing about Danny, especially in terms of academics? He doesn't get the same respect that Jazz does, even though he works hard, so what if Sam, instead of being Danny's "friend," was actually his bully?

If Sam weren't part of the trio, she would totally be the antagonist in Danny's story. Think about it: most of the trouble Danny gets into is because of Sam. If she wasn't coded as the "princess" of the show, why not make her the "princess" of Casper High and make her the one who's bullying Danny?

If Sam weren’t Danny’s friend and was just a background character in Danny Phantom, people might not like her as much. She might even be seen as Danny’s bully, compared to Dash. This idea is something I haven’t seen a lot of people explore, or at least not enough. Let me explain.

Imagine if Sam had been a background character. People would probably dislike her a lot more, and they might even see her as Danny's bully, which would make her more interesting. You could still have Danny be friends with Tucker, as they’ve been childhood friends, and maybe Danny and Sam were friends at some point, but it didn’t work out. Sam could then have made social suicide by distancing herself from her old friends, positioning herself as the moral high-ground "princess." This could open the door for new characters — whether it's Valerie, Paulina, an OC, or another character to join the trio. It would create a really cool dynamic.

I’m not saying I hate the trio of Danny, Sam, and Tucker — I think they’re good friends, and there are aspects of their friendship that make sense. But personally, I’d like to see more stories where their friendship falls apart, especially if it’s not because of a relationship. It seems like, in most stories, their friendship dissolves because of romantic drama, and I’m just not that interested in that. What if the “forever trio” wasn’t so permanent? What if Danny had different best friends? It could be Danny, Tucker, and an OC, or maybe even a character from another franchise or media property. You could also do Danny, Tucker, Dash, or Danny, Tucker, Valerie, or even Danny, Tucker, Paulina, or any variation. There’s so much untapped potential, and I don't see enough of it.

I’ve been thinking about this idea a lot lately. Maybe it’s because I don’t see many stories where Sam is the “bad guy.” I feel like, without her "princess" treatment, Sam would be a much more flawed individual. She often thinks she’s right when, in reality, many of her decisions cause problems for her classmates. But because she’s treated like this perfect person, no one calls her out on it. I’d be frustrated with her, but at the same time, I’d be rooting for her downfall, almost like the character of Kushida from Classroom of the Elite. Kushida has two personalities: her bubbly, friendly side, which is just a facade, and her true, manipulative nature. I feel like Sam would have a similar dynamic — not exactly the same as Kushida, but something in that vein.

I don’t know if people agree with me, but I wanted to share my thoughts. Maybe I’m just feeling curious, especially since I’m struggling with Part 9 of my fanfic, Gotham Baby Mystery. It could just be me, but I’m curious if others think along the same lines.

Elrond and Elros

Random thought...

Elros is just a random human child that Elrond adopted as his brother. They were both just playing on the beach, and the Feanorians attack, so Elrond just goes 'welp you're now my brother, just run with it'. And with the help of his Maia witchery, Elrond makes himself look similar enough to Elros that they're basically twins. (He also connects them together with said Maia witchery, but that's accidental).

Elros is probably a distant cousin of Elrond's (but then again, who isn't??) but he's def not Elrond's brother. But he also doesn't want to be abandoned and left to die. So he goes with it. And the two of them grow at relatively similar rates (cause Elrond is half-Man), so no one questions it.

And then Eonwe conveniently gives Elros an out when he offers Elrond the Choice (which Elros never gets, but no one else knows that). And after Elros leaves for Numenor, Elrond slowly starts removing the Maia witchery thing, and then it's completely removed about 400 years later, and that's when Elros dies (cause he's no longer connected to Elrond, who was keeping him relatively immortal)
