Cake Quest was truly fantastic. Remember Gertrude?
I adored dog craft as a child as well as many of Stacyplays other series especially cake quest. So I naturally asked for the rest of the Wild Rescuers series for Christmas. Since despite it being years since I bought and read the first book I only recently learned how many more books there were in the series.
Let’s just say I reread Guardians of the Taiga and finished Escape to the Mesa plus another book I got for Christmas. And I’ve read them all in the past 3 days. And I’m probably going to finish reading the rest of the series within the week.
All I have to say is that I have fallen in love with Stacy’s writing yet again.

Stacy's dynamic with the wolves in Wild Rescuers is so fascinating to me in that it's nebulous. She describes herself as being raised by them, and Everest is described as both her best friend and throughout the whole series acts lowkey parental towards her. (Addison also acts sort of parental. In fact, they seem to be the "makes decisions about Stacy's upbringing" wolves. Like in Escape To The Mesa when they look at each other and are the ones who decide whether to go to the Forest of Perpetual Darkness.)
At the same time, though, Stacy is definitely sort of "in charge." She's uncertain whether Everest or she herself is the alpha at the beginning of Guardians of the Taiga, lectures Wink and Addison (who taught Stacy to do math), and plays fetch with Everest. Basil seems to think Stacy can get her "in trouble" when Basil steals the camera. Stacy ends up making a lot of "calls" (like, are they going to go into the dangerous cave, or no? Are we gonna leave for a different biome, or no?) The pack treats her as an authority in many matters.
BUT the wolves are also protective of Stacy, usually walking in defensive form around her when they're out and about and especially when they're on a rescue mission. Stacy says in Expedition on the Tundra that they (roughly quoting) "take care of her in almost every way" and are shown keeping her safe (like when they held Stacy back from the water when Noah went to get her charms from her bracelet for her.)
It's an interesting power dynamic, because Stacy may be in charge as co-alpha, but at the same time she is sort of their child.
I also find it interesting how, even though Stacy is one member out of seven, the wolves adjusted everything to accommodate to her. Changing their sleep schedule, adapting to eat less meat, (presumably) having furniture in the cave, going on animal rescues.
And then there's the fact that Stacy herself starting leading the pack out on animal rescues because they inspired her. She says in Guardians of the Taiga that she knew "[And] how wonderful it was to be rescued," and thinks to Everest, "I have to rescue these animals, just like you and the other wolves rescued me."
All in all, Stacy's found family with the wolf pack is unconventional in their dynamic, and I love them for that. Rescuing someone that then joins their family is done several times in the series, namely with Stacy's pets (and of course Stacy herself) and it's a really unique and sweet take on the found family trope. So often found family tropes start assigning characters to places like "mother of the group" or "little brother of the group," but, though Wink is kind of like Stacy's annoying, silly little sibling, I will die on this hill Stacy's family with the wolves remains sort of hard to describe and really loving without being traditionally sorted into parent-and-child roles, ending up with a give-and-take dynamic similar to the whole "taking turns with the braincell" dynamic. It's compelling and fun to read.

do you think stacy’s mom gave the wolves a scientific name? Heck, are they even considered part of the canis genus? It’d be really interesting if Stacy’s mom did right a scientific description of them (if they got persecuted at some point, getting them on the red list would mean the difference between extinction and survival)
That's a really interesting question, actually. I do think the'd be canis--they definitely have a lot of wolf characteristics and behaviors, so despite the whole magic thingy (and the unique diet they adapted to) I think they'd count.
For scientific names, I'm thinking canis magicae or something like that. "Magic canine." I don't know if there's a Latin word for superpower, google translate isn't really helping lol. Or if she were looking for something a little more discreet to hide their powers, maybe canis speciale or canis habillis (which ((I think)) means adaptable, since the wolves are so, well, adaptable) or something. Or even canis familia because they're family if we want to go in the sentimental direction.
Feel free to give me any other name ideas!
(I mean your username explicitly states you don't do that but feel free. /jk)

So remember the runes on the ice spike? I don’t think they were meant to be translated, but I still translated them. but anyway, they translate to: wolves, before, from, elders, toward, go, lore, ancient, the, seek, who, set.
Not exactly in that order, BUT WHY WAS THAT HIDDEN FROM US.
(P.S, if you want to chat about this, please just reply to this ask on your public page, and we can chat in the reblogs or reply section. I don’t feel comfortable using private chat with people I don’t know on the internet)
How did I lose this in my inbox for so long???
thank you so much for the translation (and for being patient), this is very interesting new-old information. Where to begin? I think the "before" and "from" might refer to the tundra being the birthplace of Stacy's pack, originally, where they were from before. "Elders" and "wolves" are pretty self-explanatory. "Go"...to where, I wonder? Referring to Stacy's pack going to the taiga? To Stacy's parents plan on going to the mesa? The world may never know. "Lore" might just be author Stacy messing with us because we're finally getting the story's lore. "Ancient" is actually very, very intriguing. The oldest wolves we've seen so far are the taiga pack's parents (I think. correct me if I'm wrong. I really need to reread the series.) Does this go back further??? How long have these mysterious wolves been a part of the world??? "Seek"...hm...Seek out animals to rescue??? Seek out Ames, who went missing??? Maybe????? "Who" and "the" are just kinda. there. not sure what to make of that. And "set" could mean, like...a set of wolves? A set of runes?
I loved analyzing this so so much thank you thank you for the ask it genuinely made my day. Lesson learned, I'll be checking my inbox more frequently from now on T_T

Tried to draw Stacy and Miriam from the Wild Rescuers and Rescue Tails series! I'm not much of an artist, but this fandom needs some FANART! So I'm being the change I want to see in the world. This is set around the time of Wild Rescuers: Expedition on the Tundra.

Welcome to the Wild Rescuers Fanpage!
"Wild Rescuers" and "Rescue Tails" are book series written by Stacy Hinjosa, aka StacyPlays on YouTube. Wild Rescuers has four books, and Rescue Tails currently has two. They exist in the same universe and Rescue Tails picks up the story from where Wild Rescuers leaves off. It's about a girl who lives with magic wolves and rescues animals. I was disappointed when I didn't see much online fandom for it, and decided to change that!
Things to do here:
Submit a post! It can be fanart, fanfiction, an analysis, a theory, rambling, incorrect quotes, anything you can conjure up. If it's family friendly and related to Wild Rescuers, I'll be ever-so-grateful. (I also just reblog anything Wild Rescuers I find)
Talk! Going insane over a book series is more fun with other people. Chat about the series, send me your headcanons, etc.
Ask me questions! Don't understand something in the series? Curious about reading it? Want to test my knowledge, maybe? I'll do my best to answer.
Scroll. While I'm extremely happy to receive contributions, you can also just enjoy what's already here.
Rules:
Keep it family friendly. This is a children's series and we are in their space, so make sure to keep it family friendly. (Plus, StacyPlays is a family friendly youtuber.) If you're submitting an incorrect quote with swears, simply change them to non-swears.
Stay on topic. Try to focus on Wild Rescuers. The series is very linked to Dogcraft, so the two subjects may overlap occasionally. Plus it's okay if the conversation leads to Stacy's minecraft videos. Who am I, the fun police? But Wild Rescuers is the main focus.
Be respectful to everyone. Lots of people can like a book series. Respect differences and enjoy Wild Rescuers, and maintain and respect boundaries talking to your fellow fans.
WARNING: This blog will almost certainly contain spoilers!

The runes from Wild Rescuers, StacyPlays's books! They first appeared in Wild Rescuers: Expedition to the Tundra and we got the key for it in the beginning of Wild Rescuers: Sentinels in the Deep Ocean. They were used by Stacy's mother in her journal, and Stacy began to use them in her own journal afterwards. Now StacyPlays fans have our own secret language.
(Petition to put this on Google Docs)

all right!!! Finally getting around to this.
What REALLY interests me is that these runes are giving directions for wolves. Meaning: wolves were EXPECTED to show up. Stacy's pack coming here wasn't a surprise, someone predicted it and made a PLAN for it. Someone who could carve runes into ice--either a human (Stacy's dad, perhaps, since he was a sculptor and might've worked with ice?) or a very precise wolf with a writing superpower.
Also the way it's phrased--"wolves who seek the ancient lore"--is very...all-encompassing? It implies that the wolves showing up could be any old magic wolf, not necessarily ones the direction giver knows personally. Which implies, well...that there are more wolves with superpowers than just Stacy's pack and the mesa/ocean pack. Some other pack seeking knowledge, or a wolf we've never met who wrote these runes, even. Have these directions been used before? Are Stacy's pack the first to journey to the tundra seeking enlightenment or have there been others?
In turn, that also implies that this tundra is the ancestral homeland of not just Stacy's pack, but all super wolves. Which is interesting because the only ones Stacy's mom's journal reported living there were Diamond and Ames!!!!! Were there more she simply wasn't in contact with? Were they the last in their homeland?
I'm having toooooooo much fun--
