The Evolution of Hacking: From Cyberpunk Fantasy to Real-World Reality
Hacking has been a part of internet culture for as long as there’s been an internet to hack. For some, it’s a rebellious act—tearing down the walls built by corporations or governments. For others, it’s an artform, a way of playing with systems, seeing how far you can push boundaries. But what does hacking really mean today? And why does it still capture our imagination?
Historically, hacking has been portrayed as a dark art. Think back to movies like The Matrix or Hackers—hackers as antiheroes, taking down the system from the inside. But while these portrayals are often exaggerated, they did reflect a truth: hacking represents a desire to reclaim power and control. In a world where tech companies and governments collect personal data and monitor our every move, hacking is one way to level the playing field.
In the real world, hacking has taken on many forms. There’s ethical hacking, where people are hired to test systems for vulnerabilities, and there’s black-hat hacking, which involves illegal activities. But even those who engage in illegal hacking often see themselves as part of a larger rebellion against control and surveillance.
It’s easy to romanticize hacking, to see it as this cool, underground world of rebellious acts and revolutionary potential. But the reality is more complex. Hacking today isn’t just about taking down the man; it’s about finding flaws, building something new, or even just learning how things work beneath the surface. It’s about pushing boundaries, challenging authority, and questioning the systems that run our world.
And perhaps that’s the real reason hacking still resonates with so many people. It’s not just a skill or a rebellion—it’s a form of empowerment. It’s the ability to break free from the constraints placed on us, even if only for a moment.
In a world where everything feels so rigid, so controlled, hacking is the ultimate act of freedom. It’s a reminder that the digital world is malleable, that we can create our own paths through it, and that the rules are often made to be broken.

This will probably ruin the look of my art blog but I think this might be helpful. Yes, yes, I know most of you are tech savvy but I had some friends who struggled with it.
So, if you happen to struggle too then maybe these might help?
1. Tired Eyes
Tumblr media
For fellow bespectacled mutuals and otherwise, if your eyes are tired from looking for typos or grammatical errors, then go ahead and make use of the Read Aloud feature. You can adjust the pace of reading. I often find myself catching all errors on the first go. Of course, you have to be patient enough for it. This is not for everybody.
2. Copying and pasting from a pdf gone wrong
Tumblr media
You probably tried that and the sentences appear like the ones in the image. Select the sentences that look like that and click Ctrl + H.
Tumblr media
A dialogue box like this appears. Insert "^p" in the Find What box. And then click on Replace All. The sentence look like a normal paragraph.
Tumblr media
When this itty bitty baby dialogue box appears. Click NO. Or it will mess up your other paragraphs, much like a toddler on the loose. :P
That's it. Bye bye!

Hey everyone it seems there a malicious individual trying to hack the sims cc community again and fill it with malware you need to stay vigilant as a creator and a downloader so
i have some tips for both to stay safe while downloading:
1- sims cc file extension is always .Package never download anything that is .exe
2- do not auto unpack zip files and rar files into your mods folder directly, open each zip or rar individually check the file extensions and drag them to your mods folder one by one
3- the only mods that have a .ts4script extension are ones that affect gameplay or how the game works, understand that if you are downloading cas or bb items you shouldn't have a .ts4script file
4- if you are downloading gameplay mods that do have .ts4script make sure that A) the creator hasn't announced on their pages that its infected B) you are downloading from a link provided by the creator of the mods themselves not something off of google or a link you got sent and make sure dates of upload match dated of announcements
5- if the mod or cc creator has retired and hasn't posted for a while LOOK AT THE DATES OF THE UPLOAD if it has been "updated recently" after the creator has left the community its most likely re-uploaded by a hacker and infected
6- download mod gaurd by Twisted mexi and keep it updated and keep your windows defender or malware detector Program up to date and always running do not disable it
7- make sure everything you download comes from a direct link from the cc creator, in this day and age do not trust link shortners, adfly, linkverse, etc get the universal bypass extension and ublock extension to stay safe but genuinely NEVER CLICK ON THOSE no matter how much the creator reassures you its safe it. is. NOT.
8- this is more of a general saftey precaution but, create a system restore point weekly before you run the game with new mods that way if anything happens you could have a chance to restore your windows to an earlier date before you downloaded anything.
9- BACK UP YOUR SHIT im serious right now either weekly or monthly put your files somewhere safe like a usb a storage card a hard drive even an online cloud if you dont have any of the previous.
10- files you should back up are your media from games and media everything else, any mods, games saves, work files, passwords, saved bookmarks, any documents txt files word files pdfs, links you saved, brushes or actions for Photoshop if you have any, any digital bills or certificates if you have any, and keep a physical list of all programs you have installed and where you installed them from
11- turn on any 2 factor authentication and security measures for any account you have
12- google and firefox have the option to check your paswords and emails against any data leaks USE THIS FEATURE and change any leaked passwords
13- regularly check your logged in sessions to make sure all the logged in devices or computers are yours and log out any that aren't and any old devices or unused sessions do this for every website and app you have an account on if available
14- change your passwords often. I know this is a hassle i know its hard to come up with new passwords but changing your passwords every few months will help you against anything mention previously that wasn't detected.
15- and as a cc creator check your cc and the accounts you host cc on and its uplaod and update dates make sure nothing has been changed without your permission :(
16- generally try not to get swept up in the "i must get it" fever you do not need to "shop" for mods weekly or monthly you do not need to download everything by that one creator you do not need to download new cc everytime you want to make a sim, im guilty of this so i know how hard it is to resist but take a breath and think "do i want this or do i need it" before downloading.
These are prevention methods i cant claim they are 100% will prevent any hacking but its better to be safe than sorry and these do keep you safe so
Brought to you by someone who has had their laptop ruined and data leaked from downloading cc once upon a time

An adversarial iMessage client for Android
Tumblr media
Adversarial interoperability is one of the most reliable ways to protect tech users from predatory corporations: that's when a technologist reverse-engineers an existing product to reconfigure or mod it (interoperability) in ways its users like, but which its manufacturer objects to (adversarial):
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/10/adversarial-interoperability
"Adversarial interop" is a mouthful, so at EFF, we coined the term "competitive compatibility," or comcom, which is a lot easier to say and to spell.
Scratch any tech success and you'll find a comcom story. After all, when a company turns its screws on its users, it's good business to offer an aftermarket mod that loosens them again. HP's $10,000/gallon inkjet ink is like a bat-signal for third-party ink companies. When Mercedes announces that it's going to sell you access to your car's accelerator pedal as a subscription service, that's like an engraved invitation to clever independent mechanics who'll charge you a single fee to permanently unlock that "feature":
https://www.techdirt.com/2023/12/05/carmakers-push-forward-with-plans-to-make-basic-features-subscription-services-despite-widespread-backlash/
Comcom saved giant tech companies like Apple. Microsoft tried to kill the Mac by rolling out a truly cursèd version of MS Office for MacOS. Mac users (5% of the market) who tried to send Word, Excel or Powerpoint files to Windows users (95% of the market) were stymied: their files wouldn't open, or they'd go corrupt. Tech managers like me started throwing the graphic designer's Mac and replacing it with a Windows box with a big graphics card and Windows versions of Adobe's tools.
Comcom saved Apple's bacon. Apple reverse-engineered MS's flagship software suite and made a comcom version, iWork, whose Pages, Numbers and Keynote could flawlessly read and write MS's Word, Excel and Powerpoint files:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/06/adversarial-interoperability-reviving-elegant-weapon-more-civilized-age-slay
It's tempting to think of iWork as benefiting Apple users, and certainly the people who installed and used it benefited from it. But Windows users also benefited from iWork. The existence of iWork meant that Windows users could seamlessly collaborate on and share files with their Mac colleagues. IWork didn't just add a new feature to the Mac ("read and write files that originated with Windows users") – it also added a feature to Windows: "collaborate with Mac users."
Every pirate wants to be an admiral. Though comcom rescued Apple from a monopolist's sneaky attempt to drive it out of business, Apple – now a three trillion dollar company – has repeatedly attacked comcom when it was applied to Apple's products. When Apple did comcom, that was progress. When someone does comcom to Apple, that's piracy.
Apple has many tools at its disposal that Microsoft lacked in the early 2000s. Radical new interpretations of existing copyright, contract, patent and trademark law allows Apple – and other tech giants – to threaten rivals who engage in comcom with both criminal and civil penalties. That's right, you can go to prison for comcom these days. No wonder Jay Freeman calls this "felony contempt of business model":
https://pluralistic.net/2023/11/09/lead-me-not-into-temptation/#chamberlain
Take iMessage, Apple's end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) instant messaging tool. Apple customers can use iMessage to send each other private messages that can't be read or altered by third parties – not cops, not crooks, not even Apple. That's important, because when private messaging systems get hacked, bad things happen:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_celebrity_nude_photo_leak
But Apple has steadfastly refused to offer an iMessage app for non-Apple systems. If you're an Apple customer holding a sensitive discussion with an Android user, Apple refuses to offer you a tool to maintain your privacy. Those messages are sent "in the clear," over the 38-year-old SMS protocol, which is trivial to spy on and disrupt.
Apple sacrifices its users' security and integrity in the hopes that they will put pressure on their friends to move into Apple's walled garden. As CEO Tim Cook told a reporter: if you want to have secure communications with your mother, buy her an iPhone:
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tim-cook-says-buy-mom-210347694.html
Last September, a 16-year old high school student calling himself JJTech published a technical teardown of iMessage, showing how any device could send and receive encrypted messages with iMessage users, even without an Apple ID:
https://jjtech.dev/reverse-engineering/imessage-explained/
JJTech even published code to do this, in an open source library called Pypush:
https://github.com/JJTech0130/pypush
In the weeks since, Beeper has been working to productize JJTech's code, and this week, they announced Beeper Mini, an Android-based iMessage client that is end-to-end encrypted:
https://beeper.notion.site/How-Beeper-Mini-Works-966cb11019f8444f90baa314d2f43a54
Beeper is known for a multiprotocol chat client built on Matrix, allowing you to manage several kinds of chat from a single app. These multiprotocol chats have been around forever. Indeed, iMessage started out as one – when it was called "iChat," it supported Google Talk and Jabber, another multiprotocol tool. Other tools like Pidgin have kept the flame alive for decades, and have millions of devoted users:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2021/07/tower-babel-how-public-interest-internet-trying-save-messaging-and-banish-big
But iMessage support has remained elusive. Last month, Nothing launched Sunchoice, a disastrous attempt to bring iMessage to Android, which used Macs in a data-center to intercept and forward messages to Android users, breaking E2EE and introducing massive surveillance risks:
https://www.theverge.com/2023/11/21/23970740/sunbird-imessage-app-shut-down-privacy-nothing-chats-phone-2
Beeper Mini does not have these defects. The system encrypts and decrypts messages on the Android device itself, and directly communicates with Apple's servers. It gathers some telemetry for debugging, and this can be turned off in preferences. It sends a single SMS to Apple's servers during setup, which changes your device's bubble from green to blue, so that Apple users now correctly see your device as a secure endpoint for iMessage communications.
Beeper Mini is now available in Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beeper.ima&hl=en_US
Now, this is a high-stakes business. Apple has a long history of threatening companies like Beeper over conduct like this. And Google has a long history deferring to those threats – as it did with OG App, a superior third-party Instagram app that it summarily yanked after Meta complained:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/02/05/battery-vampire/#drained
But while iMessage for Android is good for Android users, it's also very good for Apple customers, who can now get the privacy and security guarantees of iMessage for all their contacts, not just the ones who bought the same kind of phone as they did. The stakes for communications breaches have never been higher, and antitrust scrutiny on Big Tech companies has never been so intense.
Apple recently announced that it would add RCS support to iOS devices (RCS is a secure successor to SMS):
https://9to5mac.com/2023/11/16/apple-rcs-coming-to-iphone/
Early word from developers suggests that this support will have all kinds of boobytraps. That's par for the course with Apple, who love to announce splashy reversals of their worst policies – like their opposition to right to repair – while finding sneaky ways to go on abusing its customers:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/22/vin-locking/#thought-differently
The ball is in Apple's court, and, to a lesser extent, in Google's. As part of the mobile duopoly, Google has joined with Apple in facilitating the removal of comcom tools from its app store. But Google has also spent millions on an ad campaign shaming Apple for exposing its users to privacy risks when talking to Android users:
https://www.theverge.com/2023/9/21/23883609/google-rcs-message-apple-iphone-ipager-ad
While we all wait for the other shoe to drop, Android users can get set up on Beeper Mini, and technologists can kick the tires on its code libraries and privacy guarantees.

TW: cussing, early seasons Daryl, angst, descriptions of walkers (Zombies) , firearms, mentions of dealing with hunted animals, kidnapping, mentions of unalived character, canon level racism.
Part 11
Dead Weight - Part 12
The prison corridor echoes with the newborn's cries, piercing through the concrete walls like a beacon to the dead.
You stand in the doorway of the cell block, watching as Daryl cradles Lori's baby in his arms with surprising gentleness.
His rough hands, calloused from years of surviving, look almost delicate as they support the tiny head wrapped in a makeshift blanket.
Your chest tightens at the sight.
"She needs formula," Hershel says from his seat, his voice grave. "Soon, or she won't survive."
The weight of his words hangs in the air. Another loss so soon after Lori would break what little remains of Rick's sanity.
He'd been gone for hours now, disappeared into the depths of the prison, hacking away at walkers in his grief-stricken rage.
Tumblr media
The leaves on the trees beyond the fence have turned vibrant shades of orange and red, nature oblivious to the apocalypse unfolding beneath it.
The walkers at the fence snarl and reach through the links with decaying fingers, drawn by your movement.
"Take the bike," Daryl says to Glen, handing over the keys to his motorcycle. A gesture that speaks volumes about the urgency of the situation.
Glenn nods, taking the keys. "We'll be back before dark."
"Y'better be," Daryl muttered, his eyes briefly flicking to you from under his fringe before returning to Glen.
Glen and Maggie saddled up for the run. It was supposed to be quick—check the town over the ridge, grab baby formula, and be back by midafternoon. Daryl had even muttered that it was probably a waste of gas.
“Ain’t nothin’ left in that dump,” he said, but there was tension in the way he checked the fuel twice anyway.
You stood near the gate as they left, arms wrapped around yourself. Glen had promised he'd grab something sweet if they found anything. Maggie smiled, hopeful, tired.
You watched until their silhouettes disappeared down the road.
Daryl didn’t watch. He just clicked the gate shut, jaw tight.
Glen feels Maggie's arms tighten around his waist as he navigates around a small cluster of walkers on the highway. The motorcycle's engine growls beneath them, loud enough that he winces at the attention it might draw.
Tumblr media
But they need speed now more than stealth.
The landscape blurs around them—abandoned cars with open doors, scattered belongings that tell stories of panic and flight, the occasional corpse that hasn't risen. The road ahead is relatively clear, a small mercy in this world of endless complications.
"There!" Maggie shouts over the engine, pointing to a green sign indicating a shopping center at the next exit.
Glen nods, slowing as he takes the exit ramp. They're entering a small town now, buildings lining either side of the main street. The streets are eerily empty save for a few walkers that turn at the sound of the motorcycle.
"Let's try there," he says, pointing to a small grocery store with its windows intact. "Might have a baby section."
He parks the bike behind the building. The silence after cutting the engine is jarring, making every small sound—the distant moan of walkers, the rustle of leaves, their own breathing—seem amplified.
Maggie dismounts first, drawing her knife. Glen follows, taking his gun from its holster but keeping it lowered. Bullets are a last resort these days.
"Stay close," he whispers, moving toward the back entrance of the store.
The door is locked, but a broken window nearby offers entry. Glen climbs through first, glass crunching under his boots as he lands in what appears to be a storage room. He helps Maggie through, their hands linking together.
"We get in, find the formula, and get out," he says softly, before bringing her hand up and pressing a kiss to her knuckles before dropping it again.
"No detours, no matter what we see."
Tumblr media
Maggie nods, her green eyes serious in the dim light filtering through the dirty window. "For the baby."
They move cautiously into the main area of the store. The shelves are mostly empty, picked clean in the early days of the outbreak, but some items remain scattered on the floor—canned goods dented and forgotten, packages of dried pasta, a child's stuffed animal stained dark with something neither wants to identify.
The baby section is partially intact. Glen feels a surge of hope as he spots several containers of formula pushed to the back of a shelf, as if someone had been interrupted while taking the ones in front.
"Got it," he says, reaching for the containers and stuffing them in a stray shopping basket. "Let's see if there's anything else—diapers, wipes."
Maggie keeps watch at the end of the aisle as Glen gathers what they need. Her posture is tense, one hand wrapped around her knife, the other ready to draw her gun if necessary.
"Glen," she whispers urgently. "We've got company."
He turns to see three walkers shambling toward them from the front of the store, drawn by their voices or movement or simply by the presence of fresh meat in their territory.
"Back the way we came," he says, zipping up the backpack. "Quick and quiet."
They retreat toward the storage room, but a crash from that direction freezes them in place. More walkers, coming through the broken window they'd used to enter.
"Front door," Maggie decides, pulling Glen toward the main entrance. "Run!"
They sprint past the approaching walkers, dodging grasping hands and snapping teeth. Glen slams his knife into the temple of one that gets too close, the blade making a sickening sound as it penetrates the rotting skull.
The front doors are chained shut from the outside, but a large display window beside them has been shattered. They climb through, careful of the jagged glass edges, emerging onto the main street just as more walkers round the corner of the building.
"The bike," Glenn gasps, pulling Maggie toward the alley. "We need to—"
His words cut off as they round the corner and come face to face with a man standing beside Daryl's motorcycle. A man with a metal apparatus attached where his hand should be.
A man Glen recognizes instantly.
"Well, well," Merle Dixon drawls, a slow smile spreading across his face. "Ain't this a surprise."
Glen instinctively pushes Maggie behind him, his gun coming up to point at Merle's chest. "Stay back."
"That any way to greet an old friend?" Merle asks, stepping forward despite the weapon aimed at him. His own gun—secured to his metal stump in place of a hand—rises to match Glen's. "Especially one who you folks left for dead."
"You left us no choice," Glen says, his voice steadier than he feels. "You were out of control."
Merle laughs, a harsh sound that scrapes against Glen's nerves. "That what Officer Friendly told you? That what my baby brother believes?"
"Daryl went back for you," Glenn says. "We all did."
"Not soon enough," Merle snarls, all pretense of friendliness vanishing. "But that's water under the bridge now, ain't it? 'Cause I need you to take me to him."
Behind Glen, Maggie's breath quickens. The walkers from the store are approaching from behind Merle, drawn by their voices.
"We need to go," Glen says, gesturing to the approaching dead. "All of us. We can talk about this somewhere safe."
Merle glances casually over his shoulder at the walkers. "Don't think so, Chinaman. You're gonna take me to my brother now. Drop the gun."
"I'm Korean," Glen mutters automatically, not lowering his weapon. "And we can't. We have to get back—there's a baby that needs this formula."
Something flickers across Merle's face—surprise, perhaps—before it hardens again. "Well now, that complicates things, don't it?" He aims his gun at Maggie. "Drop it, or your pretty girlfriend gets a new hole to breathe through."
Glen's heart pounds in his chest. The walkers are getting closer. They're running out of time and options.
Glen slowly places his gun on the ground.
He gestures with his gun toward a vehicle parked further down the alley—an old pickup truck. "Move. Both of you."
Tumblr media
As they're forced toward the truck, Glen catches Maggie's eye. Her expression is a mixture of fear and determination, and he knows she's thinking the same thing he is they need to find a way out of this, not just for themselves but for the baby waiting back at the prison.
Merle binds their hands with zip ties he produces from his pocket, shoving them into the back of the truck. As he starts the engine.
"The formula," Glen says as Merle begins to drive, the walkers falling behind them. "The baby will die without it."
"Should've thought of that before you left me chained up on that roof," Merle replies coldly, turning onto the main road and accelerating away from the town.
Glen looks at Maggie, silently promising her they'll find a way out of this. She nods slightly, understanding the unspoken communication born from months of surviving together, of building a life amid death.
What neither of them notices is the figure a few blocks back, a hooded woman with a sword strapped to her back and a gunshot wound in her leg, watching as the truck disappears around a corner.
The woman staggered her way to the prison, her dark eyes wary but determined. Blood trickled from a wound on her leg, and her breathing came in labored gasps. Yet she carried herself with a warrior's pride, a katana strapped to her back glinting in the fading light.
Tumblr media
As soon as you saw Carl take off you followed him, detriment not to let him shoulder more adult responsibilities then absolutely necessary.
Daryl passed 'Lil Asskicker' to Carol before shrugging his crossbow onto his shoulder following after both of you.
Carl had already reached the inner gate, gun drawn. "Who are you?" he demanded, voice cracking with the effort to sound authoritative.
The woman regarded him with surprise, clearly not expecting to be confronted by a child.
"I saw your people," she replied, leaning heavily against the fence. "Asian guy and the girl."
Daryl pushed past you, his body language instantly aggressive. "Where are they? What'd you do to them?"
The woman's eyes narrowed. "I didn't do anything. They were taken."
A cold wave of dread washed over you. "Taken? By who?"
"A man with a metal thing on his arm," she answered, gesturing to her own arm.
The cell block was tense with whispered conversations and fearful glances as you helped Beth prepare a bottle for the baby form the formula the woman, Michonne had brought with her.
She sat, albeit reluctantly on a metal bench while Hershel tended to her wounds.
Her story had come out in terse, clipped sentences: a place called Woodbury, fortified and led by someone called the Governor.
"Your friends were taken there," she explained, wincing as Hershel cleaned a particularly deep gash on her leg. "It's about eight miles from here."
"And they just let you go?" Carol asked skeptically, cradling the fussing infant.
Michonne's expression darkened. "I wasn't with them. I was... leaving Woodbury. Saw the abduction from the woods. Followed your people's trail here."
"Why?" You asked, although there was nothing accusatory in your tone as you measured baby formula carefully. "Why help us?"
Her eyes met yours, filled with a pain that went beyond physical wounds. "The Governor... he's not what he seems. And those people, your friends, they don't deserve what's coming to them."
The implication hung heavy in the air. Daryl, who had been pacing like a caged animal, suddenly slammed his fist against a table, crossbow still strapped on his back like it was just another part of him.
"We gotta go get 'em," he growled. "Now."
"We need a plan," Hershel cautioned, finishing the bandage on Michonne's leg. "Rushing in will only get more people hurt."
In the dimly lit interior of the truck, Glen watches the passing landscape through the small rear window, trying to memorize landmarks, turns, anything that might help if they manage to escape. Beside him, Maggie remains tense but calm, her eyes occasionally meeting his in silent communication.
Tumblr media
Merle whistles tunelessly from the driver's seat, seemingly unbothered by the tension thick enough to cut with a knife. The metal contraption where his hand should be taps against the steering wheel in an irregular rhythm.
"Must say, I'm surprised my baby brother took up with you people again after Atlanta," Merle says conversationally, as if they're on a pleasant road trip. "Always was too soft for his own good."
"Daryl's not soft," Glen retorts before he can think better of it. "He's survived just like the rest of us. Better than most."
Merle chuckles, a sound devoid of actual humor. "That right? And I suppose he's all domesticated now, playing house with Officer Friendly and his band of misfits?"
"He's respected," Maggie speaks up, her accent thickening with emotion. "He's a valued member of our group."
"Bullshit," Merle scoffs. "You mean the same group that left me chained to a roof?"
"You were out of control," Glen repeats his earlier assertion. "And like I said, we went back for you."
"Too little, too late," Merle replies, his voice hardening. "But water under the bridge now, right? We're all gonna have ourselves a nice little reunion."
The truck turns onto a road lined with tall pines, the branches creating a tunnel-like effect that makes Glen feel even more trapped. He tests his bindings subtly, but the zip ties are secured too tightly to offer any hope of slipping free.
"Where exactly are you taking us?" Maggie asks after a stretch of silence.
"Someplace safe," Merle answers, his tone mocking. "Walls, electricity, running water. Regular paradise in this shithole world."
"And what happens when we get there?" Glen presses.
Merle glances at them in the rearview mirror, his eyes glinting with something that makes Glen's stomach turn. "That depends on how cooperative you decide to be. Governor's gonna have questions. About your group, your numbers, your weapons."
"Governor?" Glen exchanges a look with Maggie. "What kind of place is this?"
"The kind that's gonna survive this mess," Merle says with conviction. "The kind with rules, order. The kind that's building something while the rest of the world burns."
The trees begin to thin, and ahead, Glenn can make out lights in the gathering dusk—actual electric lights illuminating what appears to be a massive wall constructed from salvaged materials. Guards with rifles patrol the top, their silhouettes visible against the darkening sky.
"Welcome to Woodbury," Merle announces as they approach the fortified entrance. "Home sweet home."
The gates swing open as the truck approaches, revealing a street that looks like a snapshot from before the world ended—clean, orderly, with actual working streetlights.
People—living, breathing, uninfected people—move about with a sense of purpose that seems alien after months of desperate survival.

Fic Fairy Fiday: Jason and Tim part 2
Tumblr media
Behold the brotherly nut shot! After Titans tower Jason honestly deserved that. I was looking for a comic image of these two for this post and couldn't resist this one lol (it's from Teen Titans 47, I think)
If you missed part 1 of this list, you can find it and all my other fic rec lists here: The Fic Fairy Friday Masterpost
Anywho, happy reading!
Warm My Heart in the Sun by SilverSkiesAtMidnight
Summary:
The valet opens the door as he places a ticket under the windshield, a hot breeze lazily snaking its way into the backseat. Then, he climbs out and shuts the door behind him, and the air falls as still as a crumpled quilt. He doesn’t so much as glance at the backseat window as he walks away, leaving Tim alone to wait. And that’s… that’s probably fine! His parents did say that going to a gala with them was something for big kids to do, and he already knows big kids are supposed to be able to be able to be apart from their parents without throwing a fit, so maybe this is why. Maybe waiting like this is part of every grown-up event, and that’s why he needed to be a big boy before he could come with them. So yes. He can be a big boy. He can wait, alone. It’s even kind of exciting! He’s not sure he’s ever been completely alone, without even a nanny nearby. He just… well, he wishes they could have left the AC on while he waits.
Momo's Notes: TRIGGER WARNING for a small child having to saved after being left in a hot car. An 11 year old Jason is sulking about Bruce dragging him to a freaking WINE TASTING of all things when he notices some movement in one of parked cars. This is just a oneshot but my hope springs eternal that the author will one day decide to continue this. Poor little Timmy and Jason did NOT deserve this trauma but I'm hopeful it means a swift adoption. 😭
Hero on a Pedestal by Ktkat9
Summary:
Jason returns to the cave one night to find that Tim has been hit by a magic spell and is now ten. Old enough to recognize Jason as his favorite Robin but not old enough to remember the night Jason had tried to kill him.
Momo's Notes: It's been years since Titan's Tower and Jason has reached a fairly comfortable antagonistic friendship with Tim. But when rogue regressed Tim to the age he was before Jason's death. Jason struggles with guilt and self-loathing at those adoring blue eyes looking up at him. Baby Timmy and Jason's heart to heart in this had me tearing up. Bonus points for Duke and Damian being good brothers and trying to protect both Jason and Tim's feelings.
Borrowed Time by A_Canceled_Stamp
Summary:
Save one person. Batman’s voice rumbles in Tim’s ears. Whoever is up there, even if it isn’t Robin, needs help. And while Tim's just...Tim, he isn’t useless. He can help. He has to.
In The Ground by A_Canceled_Stamp
Summary:
In the corner of his eye, a blurry shape rests on a bed. Jason sees a tangled mop of black hair poking out of the white covers. He sees the shadow of an open mouth, the tube that snakes up the boy’s chest and disappears down his throat. He wants to look away. He can't.
Momo's Notes: These two are one story so I just threw them both up together. It's an AU where Tim was adopted not long after Jason (As far as I know Ethiopia never happened in this AU). Tiny Tim isn't supposed to be involved in the vigilante shenanigans but he was worried so he hacked the batcomputer to warn him if anyone's emergency beacon goes off. It's sheer bad luck that Jason Wayne is kidnapped on a day that Batman and Nightwing are on a mission out of the city. Tim decides he has to rescue his brother himself and everything goes horribly wrong. Part 2 is Jason attempting to cope with the aftermath. This one battered my heart. These poor babies. Be aware this one is a lot of hurt and very little comfort.
The Next Life by spqr
Summary:
“I don’t need an exorcism,” Tim says. “I beg to bloody differ,” Constantine mutters. Nobly, Tim elects to ignore him. “I want you to teach me.” “Teach you what? Manners?” “I already know manners,” Tim says, then barrels on as Constantine snorts in disagreement, “what I need to learn is necromancy.”
Momo's Notes: Another great fic with kid!Timmy. Tim idolizes Robin, so when Robin dies and Batman starts going off the rails he decides there's only one way to fix this: learn Necromancy from an expert and bring Jason BACK. Constantine doesn't want to teach this kid to throw his life away but he needs the money and the brat is clearly not going to give up and go home so it's better he learn from him than someone who will teach him wrong. Despite the best magical education money can buy, though, Tim is still just a kid in way over his head and children have never been great at ensuring a fair deal.
Unexpected Guest by Jazzymin97
Summary:
Jason is rudely awoken by one Mr. Timothy Drake on his doorstep, looking exhausted and barely holding himself up. Jason wasn’t sure what he was expecting Tim to say, but “i didn’t know where else to go.” Surely hadn’t crossed his mind much less with the kid passing out on him. This’ll be a long night. ——— Or Tim shows up at Jason’s door, battered and bruised and desperately needing his big brothers to help him feel safe after some harrowing issues come to light about his father. Mature rating because of themes and Jason’s language. There are not graphic depictions of the rape/non con. Despite the way the writing leads and tags— there is no incest.
Momo's Notes: TRIGGER WARNING! This fic deals with Tim dealing with the trauma after a sexual assault. There are no graphic depictions but he is understandably traumatized and both Dick and Jason are trying to help him. Also includes abusive Jack Drake. These are heavy topics so please skip this one if it will harm your mental health. This is a hard one to read but I do enjoy the enemies to caretaker relationship that develops between Jason and Tim as well as the brotherhood between Jason and Dick as they try their best to help their baby brother even as their own traumas weigh on them.
the capillaries in my eyes are bursting by Scarlet_Ribbons
Summary:
Bruce grunts, standing up. “Jenkins said the same. What about what you weren’t told?” And without dissembling, Jason says, “I think they fucked that kid up, B.” [Jack and Janet die. As things get weirder and weirder, it feels like Tim might be at the center of the unfolding conspiracy.]
Momo's Notes: TRIGGER WARNING for abusive Drakes and one potentially triggering scene of binge eating. Robin!Jason and Batman investigate the violent murder of Jack and Janet Drake. Their young son was witness to the whole thing but Jason gets the feeling there was something VERY wrong with this case and this family. Only a heavily traumatized Tim holds the answers.
A Pitter Patter Bitter Batter Brother by a_silly_gander
Summary:
Tim is Robin to pull Bruce back, that is his objective. Not to be a partner—not to be chosen—but to be a warning light. To be a roadblock. So, right now, he has to get between Batman and the Red Hood.
Momo's Notes: This is an alternate take on Red Hood and the Outlaws #25 where Jason appeared to kill Penguin and Bruce freaking lost it and nearly beat his son to death. Fair to say this is bad dad Bruce. In this fic Tim sees Bruce going nuts and rushes to get Bruce off of him and Jason somewhere safe where he can heal. Cue the enemy to caretaker bonding with Tim as the caretaker for a change!
oh brother by Tisane_Tea
Summary:
young Justice was on a mission when they found a scene that should have been nothing more than typical. Case the place, find the bad guy, and turn them in. Unforchantly, Tim recognizes this pattern, he really wishes his older brother had better luck with warehouses because this is not going to be easy to explain.
Momo's Notes: I've read this fic SO MANY times! It hits so many happy spots for me. It has caretaker Tim, good mom Talia gets a mention, Tim and Jason being genuinely close, Young Justice always having each other's backs, and the most amazing drink in the world... TEA! Seriously tho this one has become a cozy read for me so I highly recommend it. Bonus points for Talia deciding all the Wayne kids that have League of Assassins training are HER kids now along with Damian (so Jason, Tim, and Cass)
Into the Deep Dark Night by siren_of_the_ocean
Summary:
Timothy Jackson Drake drowns in Gotham Bay with not a bang, but a whimper. Luckily...or not, Gotham isn't quite ready to give him up yet. “Spirits of children and women drowned, my child. They live in the ponds that glisten like tar. The Rusalka."
Momo's Notes: Tim dies cold and alone but wakes up two days later still breathing at the bottom of the bay. Jason can see something is very wrong with his little brother and tries every way he can to help Tim before it's too late. God but the creature lore for the Rusalka in this is so cool. And Tim's little tiff with Constantine was so petty, I love it. Bonus points for Young Justice being chaotic menaces but ride or die as usual.
wither on the shore by Scarlet_Ribbons
Summary:
“Replacement.” Tim freezes, gaze still locked on Jack’s prone, silent form sprawled out on the floor, and pulls the phone back to look at the number. It’s kind of funny, he thinks hazily. Of course he would accidentally kill his dad and then mistakenly call Jason, of all people.
Momo's Notes: TRIGGER WARNING for discussion of child abuse and human trafficking. Nothing graphic tho. His father's body is on the floor and Tim put him there. Panicked, Tim tries to call his big brother for help only to realize too late he called the wrong one. I love the protective big brothers Dick and Jason in this. Poor Tim is having a REALLY rough time of it but at least this whole thing is mending the burned bridges between him and Jason.

God, the end of support for Windows 10 will be such a fucking bloodbath. It’s coming a year from now, 14 october 2025 and it will be a disaster. The one Windows version supported by Microsoft will be Windows 11, and its hardware requirements are like the rent, too damn high.
Literally most computers running Windows 10 can’t upgrade to Windows 11. 55% of working computers aren’t able to run windows 11 according to an analysis. A man quoted in the article argues even that is too optimistic considering how many older computers are still used. He thinks even an estimate of 25% of win10 machines being able to upgrade to win11 is too high an estimate, and frankly he sounds reasonable.
This will probably lead to two things.
Number one is a mountain of e-waste as people get rid of old computers unsupported by microsoft despite the hardware working fin ,and buy new windows 11 machines. It’s the great Windows 11 computer extinction experiment, as writer Jenny List called it. And when you buy a new computer with windows pre-installed, the windows license fee is baked into the price. So a windfall in license money for Microsoft, and the real reason why they are doing this.
Number two is a cybersecurity crisis. A lot of people will keep on using Windows 10 because “end of support” doesn’t mean it will stop working on that date. But the end of support means the end of security updates for the operating system. That will make those systems very unsafe, if they are connected to the internet. Security flaws and exploits for windows 10 will be discovered, problems that will never be patched because win10 isn’t supported anymore and they will be used against systems still running it.
Apparently a lot of people don’t understand this so I’ll try to explain this again as simply as I can. No human being is perfect, and accordingly nobody can write the perfect software that is safe from all cybersecurity threats forever. Security flaws and exploits will always be found, if the computer running that software is connected to the internet, which means it can be attacked by every bad actor out there. This is especially true if that software is as complex and important as an operating system, and it’s also widely used, which is true of Windows. But if the software is supported, the people who design and distribute that software can write patches and send out security updates that will patch the exploits that are found, minimizing the risks inherent to software, computers and the internet. It’s a constant race between well-meaning developers and bad actors, but if the developers are good about it, they will stay ahead.
But when support for the software is dropped, that means the developers will no longer patch the software. And that’s what happening to Windows 10 in october 2025. Any new exploits for the operating system that are found, and they will inevitably be found, won’t be patched by Microsoft. The exploits will stay unpatched, the system will be old and full of holes and anyone using it will be unsafe.
We already have this problem with people who are still using Windows 7 and Windows 8, years after Microsoft dropped support, often because their computers can’t upgrade even to windows 10. They are probably a disproportionate amount of the people getting hacked and their data stolen. From reading what they write to justify themselves online, my impression is that these people are frankly ignorant about technology and the dangers of what they are doing. And they are filled with the absurd self-confidence the ignorant often have, as they believe themselves to be too careful and tech-savvy to be hacked.
The problem will however explode with windows 10 ending support, because the gap in hardware requirements between win10 and win11 is so large, as already explained.
(sidenote, running unsupported operating systems can be safe, as long as you don’t connect the computer to the internet. You can even run windows 3.1 in perfect safety as long as its kept off the ‘net. But that’s a different story, I’m talking here about people who connect their computers to the internet)
So let’s imagine this very common scenario: you have a computer running Windows 10. You can’t upgrade it to windows 11 because most win10 computers literally can’t. You want to keep the computer connected to the internet for obvious reasons. You don’t have the money to get a new windows 11 computer, and you don’t want to throw your old perfectly useable hardware away. So what do you do?
The answer is install linux. Go to a reputable distro’s website like linuxmint.com, read and follow their documentation on how to install and use it. Just do it. If you are running windows 10, you have until October 14 2025 to figure it out. And if you are running windows 7 or 8, do it now.
There are good reasons for not using Linux and sticking with windows, linux has serious downsides. But when the choice is literally between an old unsupported version of windows and Linux, linux wins everytime. Every reason for not installing linux, every downside to the switch, all those are irrelevant when your alternative is literally running old unsupported windows on a machine connected to the internet. Sure linux might not be user-friendly enough for you, but that’s kinda irrelevant when the other alternatives presented is either throwing the computer away or sacrificing it to a botnet. And if you believe yourself to be too tech-savvy and careful to ever get pwned (as some present-day windows 7 users clearly believe themselves to be), that’s bullshit. If you really were careful and tech-savvy you would take the basic precaution of installing a supported operating and know how to do it.
I don’t think everyone can just switch to linux, at least not full time. If you need windows because your work requires it, frankly your only realistic option is to have a computer that supports win11 when october 2025 rolls around. If you don’t, either you have to pay for it yourself or ask your employer to supply a work computer with win11. Just don’t use Windows 10 for work stuff past that date, I doubt your co-workers, your employer or your customers will appreciate you putting their data at risk by doing so.
The rest of you, please don’t contribute to the growing problem of e-waste by throwing away perfectly useable hardware or put yourself at risk by using unspported versions of Windows. Try Linux instead.

“The 2024 Election was hacked at the tabulation level.
I am a leader in hacking and counterhacking for over 25 years. I'm well paid for it.
Here is what you are seeing. The Tabulation Systems at the County level were hacked far in advance of the election. The hack was probably written into the code even before the code was installed. It will have a WHEN function and IF/THEN functions to have the machine force balance to a given outcome within a specific window of time. You could test the machines 1000 times before election night, and the result will be correct. If you run it during the time window, the force balancing will be turned on and regardless of inputs you will get a programmed output.
It is very simple to prove this. Take the two most outlandish precinct results from any county and just hand-count the ballots. They won't match the tabulation outputs. From what I am seeing, you will find 8-11% avg. shifts from Dem to Rep. Be sure to check heavy Red areas, easier to cover up a run up of the score.
That was how it was done in Ohio vs. Kerry - GOP flips in already highly red areas.
Now, why the Bomb-Threats? The threats were NOT to help hackers gain access to the machines. The programming was already in place, they were to break Chain of Custody and produce legal grounds to not trust a recount.
Every place that GOT a bomb-threat is a place the courts will now have to consider the factual argument of whether the ballots COULD have been tampered with while the evacuations were going on. They weren't. But that is the argument the GOP will make to prevent recounts.
Now that a full blown #fascist takeover is underway, and they did it by hasecking the tabulation machines as described, please engage. I will lend any expertise if asked.”

Autistic!Bucky Barnes Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I lowkey went wild with these this is a YAP fest 😝 autistic Bucky I love you 🙏
🩶 Bro actually went his whole life undiagnosed because he learned to mask VERY well VERY young, and because in his early life he didn’t require a lot of support! He did eventually get diagnosed OFFICIALLY around TFATWS cos of his therapist, but everyone including him had pretty much accepted/agreed he had it way earlier than that
🌹 His special interest WAS birds he collected all things birds ! And he liked to watch them early in the mornings and all that jazz, but then it got lost after everything that happened
🪩 When he got out of HYDRA and was finally living on his own, it was VERY difficult for him to adapt to the change and figure out who he was. There were a LOT of sleepless nights, meltdowns alone in his apartment, confused days. Kid was actually struggling so hard 😭
📌 His support needs sort of skyrocketed after that due to all those changes and stuff, and even though he didn’t show it, part of him was thankful to see Steve in Civil War. After that, Steve became one of his main support systems, knowing exactly how to help him ! :)
“C’mon, Bucky, deep breaths. Just take your time, nobody’s mad at you. I know we said training at 11, but everyone’s running a bit late, so we’re gonna go ahead and move it to 11:30, that’s all. You and I can end 30 minutes early to keep your mental schedule correct, I promise.”
📎 When he gets overwhelmed/overstimulated, he tends to subconsciously go back to heavily shutting everyone out and putting on a cold front. All he’s ever known is the winter soldier, and all he’s ever known was ignoring his needs.
“It’s okay if you’re overwhelmed, Buck. Let’s get out your communication cards so we can meet in the middle. I won’t make you talk, but I also won’t let you shut me out. I know, you think they’re silly, but they help, and that’s all that matters.”
♥️ His bird special interest DID stick around, and that’s actually something that really grounds him during meltdowns/flashbacks. It reminds him of home, reminds him he’s not being hurt anymore. Tony actually installed a MASSIVE window outside his room at the compound and planted big trees right next to it, adding bird feeders that are always freshly stocked.
☕️ He often forgets to eat, because of how he got food and nutrients while he was the Winter Soldier. Steve needs to remind him almost daily, and he’s still overwhelmed by all the choices most of the time. So far, he’s remembered that he really likes peaches and HATES Brussel sprouts !
“Bucky, you didn’t eat yet, did you? Let’s go make some sandwiches. I’ll even get out those canned peaches you like and we can sit by the window.” Steve says with a big smile on his face like once a week, and then makes peanut butter and jelly
🖍️ ^^^ He will NEVER admit it because he thinks it’s stupid but he secretly really likes his sandwiches cut in half rectangle style and Steve quickly picked that up, so he always does it without Bucky asking for it.
🩶 Don’t say it to his face but he’s lowkey a Velcro when it comes to Steve. Bucky’s following him around on bad days, just going where he goes with a pair of little headphones on, listening to his favorite familiar 40’s tunes
🌹 He feels oddly content around Peter especially when he’s having a verbal shutdown. Peter will always check on him when Steve is distracted, and will always talk his ear off as if he’s actually responding. The kid makes him feel normal, and he likes that :)
“And so basically Ned and I were like, ‘we gotta catch this guy, he’s stealing stuff!’ and so we hacked the suit Mr. Stark made for me and while they were all at the decathlon I snuck away… well not very well ‘cause they caught me… and basically…” Meanwhile Bucky’s just sitting across from him nodding even though he has NO IDEA what Peter’s talking about 😭
🪩 Oftentimes he will mask and mask until he genuinely can’t do it anymore. He doesn’t like doing it, but he hasn’t quite worked out how to stop. He’ll just keep everything bottled up until he inevitably has a big meltdown and then feels guilty and embarrassed about that, too.
“You’re gonna have a bad day today, huh?” Steve asks and Bucky will just sigh and defeatedly nod. “That’s alright, Buck. Hot cocoa? We can watch that good bird documentary you like, I’ll grab your weighted blanket. It’s always okay for everything to be a bit much.” And he just lets Bucky sit with him in the dark until he FINALLY cries and just finally gives up. (Lowkey might turn this into a fic)
