Gossip is known to fly like the wind. Yet it passes even more swiftly along Oxenfurt's thoroughfares. In one instance, there were rumors of a vampire roaming the city streets. Folk wisdom on one's best defense against a bloodsucker has long been passed down by word of mouth. Debates continue over the relative merits of a stake through the heart versus a swift blow with a wagon axle to the demon's head. Oxenfurt's chefs proved particularly ingenious at one point when they opted to take matters into their own skilled hands. Following another well known superstition, they added vast amounts of garlic to their menus, creating distinctive, memorable dishes. My personal favorites include a filling fish soup served by a chef who runs a kitchen down by the docks. Made with onion, carrot, parsley, and celery, heavily enriched with aromatic garlic perfectly complementing flavorful tomatoes, this simple soup requires no straining thanks to the inclusion of filleted fish--a trick the resourceful chef had learned from an herbalist he had met in Dillingen.

This is a great cookbook. I only started watching The Witcher series and reading the books after buying this cookbook. Funny way to discover a new series/universe heh! Now, I always name my void chicken 'Geralt' as a Witcher tribute in my SDV saves. My favourite recipes are the Svorlag Trapper Meat Patties & the Roasted Chicken Drumsticks 👌

This is why we need local bookshops. Nothing beats casually trawling through a bookshop and being able to pick up a book and flick through it. So many gems found this way.

I wanted to try a recipe from the Witcher Official CookBook and hear me out - it's amazing. I'm a disaster in the kitchen and I was able to make those.

So... Happy (and tasty!) Fat Thursday!!

Geralt's Omelet For Yennefer

Today, I decided to prepare a dish from Kaer Morhen, home to Witchers, which stands as a symbol of resilience and tradition in a hostile world. This omelet is made with eggs, mushrooms, red bell peppers, onions, butter, cheese and herbs. In the cookbook, it says Yennefer's cravings made him try something different, while Geralt himself used to eat scrambled eggs at taverns or soft-boil eggs, half the time he even forgets to add water!

I must admit, it was EXTREMELY DELICIOUS. It seems Yennefer has great taste when it comes to food! The omelet was between fluffiness and creaminess, with caramelized onions, bell peppers and mushrooms fried in butter. The cheese made it even better! It can be enjoyed with hunks of bread, but I ate it on its own. With only two eggs per person, as it’s quite filling, I found it thoroughly satisfying! I’ll certainly prepare this dish more often, it’s absolutely splendid!

I would like everyone to look at my surviving sour dough starter from my batch of four I'm baking tonight alhamdulillah. He got moved into Geralt's old cleaned out jar after Geralt died and we almost killed Vesemir and ESKEL but have successfully revived both of them. Lambert is ready to be baked and is currently rising! This entire journey was documented in @hanzajesthanza's server and the recipe used is included in the new official witcher cookbook for temerian sourdough. I am not using the seeds in this batch but maybe a future one will!!!

Creative project for today. Let's count it as birthday baking already.

Might post an 'expectations vs reality' comparison later. Might be funny or sad, as it already didn't go as planned at the mixing level.

and i can't really describe it, but a throng of merchants and travellers,

it reminds me of this very nice metaphor in lady of the lake when geralt is incited to take action

Quick OOC post

To those who were interested in me reviewing The Official Witcher Cookbook; it will be released around the end of November, guys (after some consideration, I preordered the English edition as opposed to originally wanting the Hungarian translation). So, we've got to wait... I hope it's worth it lol.
