I'm working on a season 1 version of John based on my past drawings of him. I like how this is turning out! I love him being a tornado of shadow matter/tentacles (:

how does one go about choosing what kind of onion they want to use? i'm at that stage of cooking where i feel comfortable freehanding stuff but i don't have a decision process for white/yellow/red onion beyond what's already in my fridge, lol.
Yellow Onion: Good all-around, general use onion. Good for Caramelizing, and just about any onion need.
Sweet Onions (Vidalia): A particularly mild version of a yellow onion, grown around Vidalia, Georgia. Crunchy and sweet! Walla Walla is another brand of sweet onion, grown in Washington, USA. Can be eaten like an apple tbh. REALLY GOOD for people who are sensitive to the strong flavor of onion.
White Onion: A little sweeter and milder than the yellow onion, but not as sweet as a sweet onion. Good for dicing and serving raw if you don't have red onion. Yellow and White onions are pretty much interchangeable.
Red Onion: Great Raw! Have a bit of spice to them, and make a very interesting savory flavor when cooked. (Red onion skins can be made into a dye!)
Green Onions/Scallions: Immature onions with white bottoms and green tops. Usually diced/sliced and used raw as a garnish or a mild raw onion flavor. Can be used to replace raw onion in bulk for a milder alternative.
Chives: Tinier, punchier alternative to green onions/scallions. While in the same Allium family as the rest of these, they never get bigger than their little grassy figure. Teeeeny tiny! Great for adorable garnishes and just a hint of onion in a salad. Not good for cooking with, they get bitter fast.
Shallots: Garlicky! Kinda a halfway point between 'onion' and 'garlic'. They stay small when fully matured, and have quite a bite when used raw. Cooked, they become mellow and have a less-intense garlic-onion flavor. Often used in sauces where you want a little onion and garlic flavor, but subtly. They're REALLY good roasted.
Leek: Basically like a giant green onion, except they're always like that. Can be used in place of Onion in nearly any recipe that doesn't require caramelization. Fun slice shape! Gentle onion flavor without a lot of bite. Best when cooked, not raw imo.
Kurrat (Egyptian Leek): Like a stronger, punchier version of the leek. Excellent roasted, sauteed, used in soups - very strong flavor and KEEPS its flavor, so its usually used in smaller quantities than other alliums.

contents; pure fluff <3 high school bf suguru, gn!reader, syrupy-sweet summer festival shenanigans. wc; 2.6k
Tumblr media
The crowds are especially bad, this year.
All around you are hands, blurry faces, bodies dolled up in silks and sashes. Taiyaki and takoyaki stands emit the scent of freshly-made food, small children giggle around a pond of koi right by the temple gates — a multitude of sensations, swarming you, so overwhelming you could lose him in it.
Fortunately, Suguru doesn't seem willing to let go of your hand.
"Stay close to me," he murmurs, right against your neck. Hot air, sending a tingle down your spine. He's got you tucked in, hip to hip, but he's still being cautious, guiding you through the rabble of locals and tourists enjoying the summer festival to the fullest — until you make it out on the other end, to bushes and plum trees and sweet cicada cries, free from the stalls and the people lining up for them.
Free to gaze up at the vast, starry sky, twinkling like shards of glass at the bottom of a riverbed.
(A sky soon to light up with colour.)
"Hah… Are you alright?" his voice is low, saccharine, as if he knows that your ears are still ringing from the noise. You think he's half tempted to cover them himself, with the way his hand ghosts against your neck, tipping your head up to look at him. "I think I gripped your hand with a little too much force… I'm sorry, baby."
You can still feel his warmth, phantom heat against your fingers. The crisp midnight air fills the crevices with pleasant coolness.
His palm rests against your nape. You lean into it, vacantly, unaware of the way his lips twitch into the beginnings of a smile — cupping such a tender area of your body, feeling it relax, melt against his touch, the comforting weight and callouses on his fingers. Smooth, soft skin beneath them. You exhale a sigh, and the summer air courses through your lungs, a hint of fruit-rot from the grounds beneath the trees.
He's holding onto the bear that he won for you, tucked between his rib and bicep, yellow fur to match his outfit. Wearing a stylish yukata, the fabric black and gray, a golden obi belt below his waist. He's got his hair tied up — to be expected — bangs swaying softly with the breeze, his eyes low-lidded with sleep soon to be lost. It's late, but he insisted on doing this. Just the two of you, this time, no Gojos or Shokos to pretend-barf when he holds your hand or sneaks a kiss against the soft skin of your temple. He's smiling, dimly, the amber of his eyes gleaming when it sees your gaze sear into him.
You inhale, softly, then exhale again.
Honestly, isn't he way too handsome?
"No… I'm fine," you answer, mustering a low-curved smile. There's fatigue beneath the words, but you do your best to conceal it. "You kept me steady… Thanks, Suguru."
A flicker of pride, like the twitch of a dragonfly, something content in the way he shuts his eyes. He's smiling in a way you think is rather fond, though the smugness still shines through. Does he realize, you wonder — that his boyishness shows when you're alone with him? Does he notice the way summer nights seem to soften him?
"… Good." He doesn't give you any chance to prepare or escape; leaning down, to smear his lips against your cupid's brow, ever so gentle, yet unmistakably deliberate. Your skin heats up, as he mutters, ruefully: "If I had known it'd be even busier than yesterday, I would have brought Satoru as a meatshield."
Laughter bubbles up from your throat, seafoam-like. It makes his eyes crinkle at the corners.
"… Are you having fun? You seem a little tired, sweetheart."
His palm smooths a path from your neck to your temple, his fingers curling around the locks of your hair. He lets them rest there, absently.
"I'm fineee," you echo, struggling to withhold a yawn. "… Still wide awake."
He breathes out a chuckle, curved with something raspy. The quirk of his brow lets you in on his feelings, what you know to be doubt. "Alright, alright," he croons, so soft you wouldn't hear it if he wasn't close enough to touch. "Just making sure."
When he raises his head, you lose track of his scent — soft, warm notes of amber and osmanthus, laced against his neck with sinister intention. He knows it makes you dizzy, knows exactly what it makes you want to do to him — chew at his collarbone, sniff at his skin, press your greedy fingers against the base of his throat as if hoping that he'll pop, that golden flowers will bloom out across the expanse of his chest.
Your boyfriend is many things. Considerate, composed —
conniving, most of all.
"The fireworks should start soon," he mumbles, slipping his hand into yours again, a kind of safety net. "Though we won't be able to see them very well from here."
He's right. Above you are thick branches, curling themselves together to obscure the sky; dressed in weighty, flourished leaves, purple splotches hanging off them and waiting to be plucked. Before you can reach for one, eyeing the twig nearest to the ground — Suguru has already raised his arm and done it for you. He hands it to you, seamlessly.
You mouth a silent thank you.
"We could try for the top of the hill… but I doubt we'd make it in time," he hums. "I suppose heading back into the crowd would be our best bet. Do you want to risk it?"
Sweet, succulent nectar dribbles from between your teeth, clings to your bottom lip before trickling down, and down, smearing your chin with mellow gold. Suguru gazes at the mess, when you part from the plum, mouth full of fruit flesh.
Intently.
His thumb catches the droplet, and brings it to his mouth. You see the pink of his tongue glide against it, cleaning it up — and note that your throat feels rather dry.
Gulp. You answer, before taking another bite, careful not to meet his gaze. "Okay."
That same thumb glides across the seam of your lips, suddenly, as if greedy for more, and you can't help but yelp, the cadence of a mouse caught between the snap of two steel jaws slammed together. Your face feels hot, as you whip your head away from his touch, and Suguru must be trying very hard not to embarrass you more because you only hear him exhale. Amused, naturally. But not mean-spirited.
(Never with you.)
"Sorry," he croons, spit-slick honey flowing from his mouth, filling the crevices between his breaths. "I was feeling a little hungry, suddenly."
"… We just ate."
"Haha… Hungry for you, I mean."
"…"
You raise your hand — managing to twist one of the thinner branches, hanging low enough for you to hear the clean break of bone as you secure a set of small, barely ripe plums. Suguru lets out a low noise, somewhere between fondness and reprimand.
"… Here," you exhale, your voice a little shaky. "Just eat these, instead." You press the branch against his chest, slipping your now-clammy palm from his grasp. "We can't miss the fireworks, Suguru…"
A soft, bubbling laugh. His brow is raised, dark, thick, curved in a way that makes you feel like you're about to be scolded, the way he sometimes does when you throw soda cans at Gojo's face ("You can't entertain him, when he gets that obnoxious. You need to be the bigger person, okay?") or zone out during class ("I don't mind taking notes for us, you know that. Still, you should aim to be a good student.") or try to leave his room before nightfall on weekends after a mission has kept you apart ("Yaga-sensei won't check. I want you in my arms tonight, angel. You can break the rules just this once, right?")…
It makes you feel small. Not exactly in a bad way.
Gently, his fingers curl around the rust-coloured branch. He plucks a plum from the cluster, wipes his thumb against the cloudy coating of bloom. Your eyes don't leave his hand, as he brings it to his lips, sinks his teeth into it. A soft, wet, crunching noise — squelching with plum juice — resounds, faintly.
Behind you, the echo of voices. Laughter. But here, now, in the narrow space between your bodies —
Only your soft breaths, and his measured chewing.
Suguru is smiling. Eyes sparking, fondly, a prelude to the orange bursts soon to light up the sky. He licks his lips, then presses the barely-eaten plum into your palm.
"Thank you, baby." He purrs, half-wicked, soft around the edges. "I'm all full."
It shouldn't fluster you. The smile on his lips, the teasing glint in his eye — a firefly flickering, stuck inside his eye-socket. The cool skin of the plum, the saliva that sticks to your thumb when you trace the indents left behind by his teeth, baring yellow flesh. You should be used to the intimate intensity he's so fond of.
But you aren't. Can't think of much to say, only stand there with your heart right below your tongue. Beating, faintly, pulsing against your throat.
Suguru seems to take pity on you; facial features softening when he sees the shy ducking of your head, as if worried that he might have gone too far. He lets the fruit branch fall to the ground, reaching for your fingers, tangling them with his own. The plum follows suit, clattering onto the uncut grass below. When you meet his eye, he's smiling, something light and breezy — his hand twitches, idly.
"… So cute," he exhales, faint enough that you just barely hear it.
(… Nevermind. He doesn't feel sorry at all.)
"Hmm… although," he sighs, casting a glance behind his shoulder, towards the golden lanterns and crowded cobblestone pathways of the festival; "— if we go out there now, holding hands might not be enough to keep us from getting separated."
You hum. From here, the crowds of people forming by the temple gates and roaming between the food stalls look like a cluster of storm clouds — or a parade of yōkai, catching goldfish and eating cotton candy, trading meaningful glances and hushed giggles. Everyone is getting ready to see the lights, securing spots where the skies will be most clear.
It's only a matter of time, now.
"… I have an idea."
When you drag your gaze to meet your boyfriend's, he's holding out the fuzzy bear he got you; black, marble-like eyes, its mouth carved into a small smile. You take it into your arms, blinking up at him.
"Why don’t you ride on my shoulders?" he asks, already in the process of pulling up his sleeves. And if he hadn't done you in enough, already — the glimpse you get of his biceps before snapping your gaze back in place certainly does the trick. There's a boyish kind of playfulness in his expression, but his voice is warm. "That way, I won't lose you in the crowd. I'm sure your feet must be getting tired, too."
"You're sure?"
He nods. "Super sure."
Suguru lives to please. If you said it out loud, you're sure he'd have some complaints — half-hearted, if even just a hushed whisper not to say it in front of anyone else, since it's only for you to know — but everyone is already more than aware, whether he likes it or not. You think he mostly does. You think it must scratch some corner of his brain, to be so put-together and dependable, to be the one others turn to when they need a helping hand.
As a boyfriend, it must be something of a narcotic.
"… Okay," you murmur, just to see his eyes curve up, citrine crescents. He wastes no time in crouching down, the expanse of his back on display — white stripes on pitch-black fabric, a night sky tapestry — careful not to let his yukata touch the ground.
"Come here," he urges, a coaxing hum. "We don't want to miss the main attraction, do we?"
You don’t.
The bear stays pressed to your chest, as you hike your legs over each of his shoulders. You're careful, if not a little hesitant, but Suguru is still. Steady, like a big rock. When both of your thighs are ghosting his neck, the fabric of your shorts tickling his skin, and your arms are wrapped around his head — the bear tucked safely beneath your chin —
Suguru rises to his feet. Two big, warm palms resting on your calves.
He exhales a breath, audibly content. You're high up, ripe plums within reach at all sides, seated on your 6'3 mountain of a boyfriend, and he's carrying you as if you weigh no more than the stuffed bear you're clutching. You duck your head, cheek smushed against his hair. Inhaling the lingering hints of lavender shampoo.
"Careful," he lulls, softly, beginning to move. "Watch out for the branches."
A nod. Suguru carries you forward, out of the thickets, leaves brushing against the nape of your neck and the skin of your arms until you're back to where you started, surrounded by children, adults and elderly alike. Golden lanterns, colourful garments, the signature scents of summer engulfing your senses — from the mild, dew-like midnight air, to the steam of grilled squid and simmering pancake batter.
At once, you feel overwhelmed. Suguru must notice — or know, simply because he knows you — because he gives a tender squeeze to your legs, wading through the crowd with calculated ease, even though you're sure it must be difficult to walk with your thighs sandwiching his windpipe.
(He's in heaven, he thinks.)
And that's when it happens.
Your ears ring — and the sky crackles, above you, sparks of pink and gold, like early daybreak showering the stars. Gleaming, bright and shimmering — explosions, one after the other, from warm hues to cold hues, reddish pinks and purples bleeding into oceanic blues and greens. The people around you all have their phones out, capturing the firework display, lips parting in sweet, silent laughter. You clutch onto Suguru's head, breath hitching at the back of your throat, as the sky paints itself in your favorite colours.
Like this, there's no need for you to bend your neck backwards, or stand on your tiptoes. You already have the tallest seat. You see them better than anyone.
Suguru lets out a breathy, delighted noise.
"Honestly, I wanted to see you in a yukata." It's faint, like a breathy whisper, though you're sure he's speaking as clearly as he can, for you to hear him over all the noise. "But now I'm glad you didn't. Makes it easier to carry you, like this."
His warm palms cradle your ankles, safe and secure. He won't let you fall.
Your head slumps down, to whisper in his ear.
"Err.. should I wear one, next time?"
A humoured exhale, smooth as silk. "Only if you want to," he assures you, loose bands swaying with a passing breeze. The fireworks are still going off. You're sure that if you just got the angle right you could see them — blurry yet dazzling — reflected in his eyes. His voice is bright, when his lips part. "How's the view, my little love?"
Warmth, like a thread of gold, seeps from your chest to the tips of your fingers.
You cup his face with both palms, and smear a kiss against his temple.
"Stunning," you half-grin, molten at the corners. Suguru goes quiet.
He doesn't say a word. Only a squeeze, to your calf, a take of breath you do not hear.
(If you could just get the angle right, you'd see sparks of pink and tangerine reflected in his eyes — plum-red and cherry-pink, at the seashells of his ears.)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
It started in April. You remember because the daffodils had just come in, their yellow heads still stiff from the cold. You’d been wiping down the counter, lost in your routine, when you first noticed him— standing across the street, his eyes fixed on your window. He wasn’t a regular, not even someone you’d ever seen around town, but something about the way he stood there, hands buried in the pockets of his worn coat, made you pause.
He hadn’t come in that day, just lingered for a while before moving on. But the image of him stayed with you long after—broad shoulders, sharp features, his face caught in the shadow of his collar like he was hiding something.
That was six months ago.
Tumblr media
Now, it’s October. The light is thinner, weaker, as you arrange chrysanthemums in small clusters. You catch sight of him again today, across the street like always. It’s not every day, but often enough that you’ve come to expect it. Sometimes, you wonder what he does in the moments between his appearances, where he goes. Why he always walk past but never stops.
You try to shake it off, focusing on the customer in front of you. An older man, looking for a dozen roses, but his words don’t quite register. You’ve seen the way Sergei watches the shop, the way his gaze follows people inside, lingering too long when you talk to other men. You shouldn’t care, but the thought of it—of him—sends a strange warmth flooding through you.
The old man clears his throat, and you snap back to reality, managing an awkward smile as you finish wrapping the bouquet.
“Thanks,” you mumble, handing it over.
Outside, Sergei is gone.
Tumblr media
It’s three days later when the bell above your door finally rings, and he steps in. The air shifts with his presence, something heavy and deliberate in the way he moves toward the counter. He doesn’t smile, doesn’t soften the rough edges of his voice when he finally speaks.
“Do you have anything that lasts longer than a week?” he asks, his gaze holding yours in a way that makes it hard to breathe. His accent is faint, buried under years of elsewhere, but it’s there, just enough to make the question sound more like a demand.
You blink, trying to remember what he said. “Uh, the lilies,” you manage. “They—um, they hold up pretty well.”
He nods, eyes shifting to the bouquets behind you, though you can’t shake the feeling that he’s still looking at you, not the flowers. He doesn’t say anything. he just lets the silence stretch between you until you turn to gather a few stems. Your fingers tremble slightly, and you hope he doesn’t notice.
“You’re here a lot,” you say quietly, not sure why you decided to speak now, but needing to fill the space. “I mean… passing by.”
Sergei’s lips twitch, just enough to show the hint of a smile, but there’s nothing warm about it. “I walk this way often.” You nod, though the answer feels hollow, like it’s only part of the truth.
As you wrap the lilies, you feel his eyes on you, studying you, and something about it is thrilling in a way you don’t want to admit. When you finally hand him the flowers, your fingers brush his, just for a second. His skin is rough, cold, and the touch leaves a shiver running up your spine.
“Thank you,” he says, but there’s something strange in his voice, like the words are unfamiliar to him. Then, without another word, he’s gone.
Tumblr media
By November, you’ve almost convinced yourself that it’s nothing. Sergei’s just a quiet man, someone who happens to walk by your shop. You try not to think about him too much, though that’s easier said than done. The men who come into the shop are kind, sweet even. You’ve gone out for coffee a few times, tried to meet their eyes, and pretend you felt something for them. But it never lasts.
None of them leave you breathless like Sergei does with just a glance.
And that’s the problem. You don’t know him. You know nothing about him, except the way he makes you feel—on edge, watched, but also... wanted. It’s confusing, this push and pull, this desire for someone you barely know. And it doesn’t help that, whenever you catch his gaze, there’s something dark in it. Something possessive. Something that makes you wonder what he’s thinking when he sees you talking to other men.
it's like you already belong to him; and you know it.
Tumblr media
It’s late November when it happens again. The first cold snap has set in, the chill making your breath cloud the window as you adjust a vase of poinsettias. The shop is quiet, and you’re alone, lost in thought, when the door opens and Sergei steps in once more. His presence fills the space, the air somehow feeling heavier, and for a moment, neither of you speak.
“I’ll take the white ones,” he says, gesturing toward the lilies. His voice is lower this time, rougher, like he’s been thinking too much or not sleeping enough.
You wrap them in silence, aware of his eyes on you again. The tension between you feels thicker today, almost unbearable. As you hand him the bouquet, you can’t stop yourself from asking, “Do you ever buy these for someone?”
Sergei’s eyes flicker, narrowing slightly. For a moment, you think he won’t answer, but then he leans forward just a fraction, his voice low and controlled.
“No."
It’s just a word, but it wraps itself around you, a confirmation of something unspoken. You look down, feeling heat rise in your cheeks, and when you glance up again, he’s already turning to leave.
“See you soon,” he mutters before the door closes behind him, and you realize that you want to.
Tumblr media
It’s late December now, and the snow has started to fall, gentle flakes that coat the windows of your little shop. The poinsettias are in full bloom, their deep reds and whites filling the space with a festive calm. But your mind isn’t on flowers today. It’s been difficult to focus lately—especially after last week.
That was the day Sergei saw you cry.
You hadn’t meant for anyone to see. The shop had been empty, the late afternoon light casting long shadows as you sat on the stool behind the counter, head in your hands. You’d just finished arguing with Mark, a guy you’d been seeing for a few weeks. Nothing serious, but you thought maybe it could be, until he said something that cut deeper than you expected. Something cruel, dismissive, about how you were "too quiet," how it was "hard to keep a conversation going with someone who never has anything to say."
You hadn’t even responded, too stunned by the way he looked at you, like your softness was some kind of weakness. So you let him leave, biting your lip until the door closed behind him. It wasn’t until later, when you were alone, that the tears came.
Sergei must have been watching from across the street, unnoticed as usual, though this time he didn’t just walk by. You hadn’t seen him enter, hadn’t heard the bell chime, but suddenly he was there, standing in the corner of the shop. Silent. His eyes were on you, sharp and steady, watching the tears slip down your cheeks.
For a moment, he said nothing. Didn’t ask if you were okay, didn’t offer any words of comfort. He just stood there, his expression unreadable. But something about the way he looked at you made you shiver—not from the cold, but from the feeling that he liked seeing you like this. Vulnerable. Soft and broken, just for him to witness.
You’d wiped your face quickly, embarrassed, pulling yourself together before he could say anything. And then, just as silently as he’d appeared, Sergei had left, the door closing softly behind him. You didn’t know what to make of it. The way his presence lingered after he was gone, like a shadow that clung to the edges of your thoughts.
It wasn’t until a few days later, after another argument with Mark, that things turned. Mark had come back, all apologies and excuses, but something about the way he spoke to you still felt off. He’d asked you to meet him after work, so you did, more out of habit than desire. The conversation hadn’t gone well. He was frustrated, saying things he didn’t mean, but the look in his eyes as he spoke made you flinch. It wasn’t until he grabbed your wrist—harder than he should have—that the tears started again. This time, not out of sadness, but fear.
What you didn’t know was that Sergei had been watching. He always seemed to know when you needed to be seen, always appeared at the edges of your world when you thought you were alone. Later, you would wonder how he knew where to find Mark. Whether he followed him, waited, or if it was just luck that they crossed paths that night after you’d gone home, shaken and silent. All you knew was that Mark never came back.
You didn’t see the violence, didn’t hear the crack of bone or the dull thud of a body hitting the ground, but when the news came days later—a body found in the river, no suspects—you felt the air in your lungs freeze. You tried to convince yourself it was a coincidence, tried to push away the gnawing suspicion in your gut. But when Sergei came into the shop the next day, silent and cold as always, you couldn’t shake the feeling that he knew. That he had done something.
Tumblr media
It was snowing again when he walked in, the cold biting at the edges of the door before it clicked shut behind him. You were alone, rearranging the poinsettias for the third time that day, trying to distract yourself from the unease settling in your chest.
“You alright?” His voice was low, almost a growl, breaking the silence. His accent was sharper today, more pronounced, as if he was trying to draw you in with the weight of his words.
You didn’t look up right away. “I’m fine,” you whispered, though it didn’t sound convincing even to your own ears.
He took a step closer, his boots heavy against the wooden floor, and you felt the tension settle over you like a second skin. When you finally met his gaze, there was something in his eyes that made your breath catch. A darkness. Something more than just quiet observance. Something possessive.
“Mark,” he said slowly, testing the name in his mouth like it was something he had already chewed up and spat out. “He won’t bother you anymore.” You blinked, confused, the words hanging in the air between you like a dense fog. He wasn’t asking. He was telling you. And in that moment, you understood. “What did you do?” Your voice was barely a whisper, but you couldn’t tear your eyes from him.
Sergei didn’t answer right away, just watched you in that way he always did—intense, unblinking. When he finally spoke, his voice was softer than you expected, but no less terrifying.
“I did what needed to be done.”
Your heart raced, the realization sinking in. You should have felt scared, horrified even, but instead, you felt... safe. Like, in some twisted way, Sergei was protecting you, looking after you in ways no one else had.
It was wrong. You knew it was wrong. But standing there, in that small shop filled with delicate flowers and fragile stems, you felt something stir inside you—a recognition of the dark and dangerous things hiding just beneath the surface of his calm exterior. You should have told him to leave. You should have been afraid. But instead, you took a breath, nodded slowly, and whispered, “Thank you.”
Sergei’s lips twitched again, that almost-smile that never quite reached his eyes. Then, without another word, he came closer, the cold air from outside still clinging to him. "Is it wrong I want to kiss you right now?" he asks, voice rough, like the question wasn't even thatㅡ it was undeniable.
You couldn't speak. The words stuck in your throat as your pulse quickened. You should say something, anything. You should step back, put distance between you, but you didn't. Instead, your mind raced with a thousand thoughts, none of which seemed capable of grounding you.
Sergei's gaze flickered to your lips, his hand lifting slightly, like he might reach out and touch you but was holding himself back, his restraint barely visible under the surface. There was something raw in his voice, something that made your chest tighten because you weren't sure if it was wrong- or if it was exactly what you wanted too.
But it was dangerous. He was dangerous. You knew that now. You'd felt it from the start, Still, you stood frozen, much like the trees outside. You swallowed hard, finally finding your voice, though it was barely a whisper. "I don't know if it's wrong..."
His fingers brushed your jaw, slow, deliberate, as though testing your reaction. And then, so bitter, he murmured, “Is it wrong that… I want to see you cry, but not by the hands of others?”
The words stood there between you, filling the space with something you couldn’t quite name. Your breath caught in your throat, a sharp, involuntary intake, the meaning of what he said settled over you like ice. You should have felt fear—anyone else would have—but instead, there was only that pulse of something in your core you couldn't ignore.
His thumb traced the edge of your cheek, lingering near your lips, his eyes still locked on yours. You tried to swallow the sudden lump in your throat, your heart pounding in your chest, but the intensity of his gaze pinned you in place, making it impossible to move or even think clearly. it all felt hazy.
You should step back, should pull away. This was crossing a line, a line you hadn’t even realized existed until now. But you didn’t. You stood there, the tension between you thick enough to suffocate, his words playing over and over in your mind until he spoke again.
Sergei’s hand moved to your chin, tilting your face upward, forcing you to meet his eyes. There was a heat there, something primal and raw, something he wasn’t hiding anymore. His voice, when he spoke again, was softer, yet somehow even more dangerous.
“I don’t want anyone else to hurt you,” he murmured, his thumb brushing your lower lip, “but I want to see you break—because of me.” The confession should have terrified you, should have sent you running. instead, you felt yourself leaning into his touch, your body betraying the warning signs flashing in the back of your mind.
“Why?” you whispered, voice trembling. Sergei’s eyes flickered with amusement, as if he was mocking you. “Because,” he said slowly, his grip on your chin tightening just enough to make your breath hitch, “I want to know how far you’ll let me go.”
You could feel the space closing in, feel the weight of his words sinking deeper. It was a game nowㅡ his game, one you weren’t sure you knew how to play, but it was too late to back out. And somehow, some part of you didn’t want to.
you'd let him do it all. anything.
You stared at him, unsure of whether you should push him away or pull him closer. But the truth, the part you couldn’t admit to yourself, was that a twisted, hurt part of you wanted to let him see you break, wanted to be undone by him and only him. "Please kiss me." you manage to pull out from the pit of your soul, your senses filled by his smell mixed with the ones in your flower shop.
In one swift, consuming motion, he kissed you. It wasn't soft. It wasn't gentle. It was intense, fierce, like he'd been holding back for too long. His lips crashed against yours with a hunger that matched the heat rising in your chest. You felt his fingers thread into your hair, pulling you closer, as though he needed to feel you against him, needed to claim this moment.
And in that instant, all the fear, all the uncertainty, melted away. There was nothing left but him.
For a few seconds, he pulls away from the kiss, staring at your puffy lips and blushed cheeks, like he’s studying the effect he has on you, savoring it. "I want to have you crumble through my fingers and then build you up just to have you kneel at my feet again." It’s twisted, wrong, but it lights something inside of you, making you drip with arousal.
"You want this." he breathes against your lips, "I can see it." Sergei leans in, nose now flush to your neck as he huffs a deep inhale. "Smell it." you can feel him smile against the skin of your shoulder, palms riding down to cup your hips, grip not easing. "Feel it." he draws a long strip from the crook of your neck up to your ear, earning a soft moan from your parted lips. "Let me ruin you."
It wasn't a request but a demand, one that you were far too deep to deny him. the panties you had on were already soaked, and your hair stood up on end as Sergei trailed his calloused fingertips down your back. "Please..." it sounded so pathetic, weak, but that made him desire this even more. he listened to your pleads in no time, practically ripping the clothes off of you. the cold air hit your body, making it sting, nipples now pebbled. this was never something you imagined could happen, you fully naked and him fully clothed, scanning you as if you were his next full course meal.
"Kneel." this catches you off guard, but he's quick to notice the lack of response so he takes it in his own hands to make you obey. He roughly pushes you down to your knees, tapping the top of your head to look up at him. he's fast, unapologetic and carnal. he's what you're notㅡ what you need.
"Say you're sorry." The word cuts through the air, sharp and commanding, but you couldn’t understand why, it left you dumbfounded and for a split second, you just stare at him, breathless, unsure. "F-for what?" Sergei, ever attuned to your hesitation, doesn’t wait for you to respond. His patience isn’t one of his virtues, and you’re learning that quickly. he tuts, rolling i strand of your hair through his digits. “What do you mean ‘for what?’” he repeats slowly, his voice dripping with disdain, as though you should already know. “How many guys have you seen since you met me?”
Your stomach tightens at the accusation, the memory of each fleeting, empty attempt at connection flashing in your mind—Mark, and the others who never seemed to fill the space Sergei occupied without even trying. He leans down, his voice dropping to a near whisper, but there’s nothing soft about the way his words cut into you. “Even though you knew—felt—that you belonged to me?” it makes you realize you’d never stood a chance.
"Say it." you can feel the truth claw its way out. “IㅡI’m sorry.” a satisfied gleam flashing in his eyes. But the hunger remains. He isn’t done, not yet.
“Good girl,” your tummy flips as he says those words, a soft smile creeping upon your face. that feeling dissipates quick as you hear the buckle on his pants come undone and with a swift motion his zipper coming down.
"Show me how sorry you are." Sergei bites, taking out his hard-on and letting it spring free. your eyes widened at the sight. you'd never seen something so bigㅡ it was intimidating, but the churn in your stomach pushed you closer, slowly wraping your rosy lips around the tip. "yeah, like that. i wanna see you choke on my cock, c'mon." he says before thrusting deep in your throat, "Maybe if you weren’t such a needy whore.." he drags out "I would've fucked that pretty pussy like you wanted me to. But you don't deserve it. Not yet. You need to know who you belong to." he snaps his hips, the tip of his dick promptly hitting the back of your esophagus, drool and tears already dripping down your face.
for a moment he stops, and you feel him pull out a little bit, leaving only half of his shaft inside of your mouth, two of his fingers pinching your nose, cutting off your air supply. he was toying with you. "what if i keep you like this? make you sit like this, unable to breathe at all, with my cock down your throat... get you all dizzy and stupid." it was so sweet the way he said such bad things.
tears well up in your eyes, mind spinning as your heartbeat picks up, yet his hips don't budge and the pinch on your nose strengthens. "Look at me." and you do, all teary eyed and fucked out. Sergei's chest heaves up as he mutters a low 'God.', his other palm coming up to wipe your tears away. "You're so pretty like this." he lets go of your nose and you finally take in a big gasp of air just as he pulls back and burries his cock deep in your throat again making you gag. "So pretty when you cry."
his moves are deliberate, large palms on both sides of your head as his hips snap. drool pools from your mouth, falling onto your exposed thighs. you try to hold onto his legs for a little stability, but it was all too disorienting, so you were left at his mercy. with a few more harsh thrusts, he comes ropes down your throat and onto your tongue with a loud groan. "Swallow. All of it." You obey, the salty liquid now all gone from your mouth.
"Bend over the counter." you swiftly comply, scrambling to your feet. obliging his orders, you bend over the counter that still had a few petals scattered here and there, bare ass and cunt on full display. "mm.." sergei licks his lips before palming the small of your back "so pretty for me."
you completely shattered under his touch, his fingertips drawing small fires that spread through you in clusters, desperate whines escaping past your swollen lips. "please..." he roughly grabs you by the back of your head, leaning in to talk directly into your ear. "did i say you can talk?" you shake your head no, shuddering as you feel Sergei's beard rub against your pebbled skin.
pushing back your hips in gripe, you manage to get your face unwaveringly pressed to the countertop. "Don't be greedy now." With that, he nimbly plunged two fingers into your mouth, making you gasp. "Suck them like you did my cock." that's all you needed to hear, fleetly wrapping your lips around his thick fingers, sucking and swirling your tongue around them like there was no tomorrow.
pushing the fingers deeper, he wins a muffled gag, your tongue pressed flush against them. "yeah, good little whore." your walls were twitching around nothing, that familiar warm wetness spreading between your thighs that were parted by Sergei's knee. "Need'a prep youㅡ"
"No! pleaseㅡ hurry.."
he laughs, almost mocking you. "fuck, I'll tear right through you, little flower." Without any warning, he flips you over, fisting his shaft, aligning it with your fluttering entrance. "Filthy girl." inhaling a sharp breath, your muscles tense up as he plunges inside of your wetness all at once, with no warning. you writhe in pain for a bit, tears already spilling from the corner of your glossy eyes.
"Look at you swallowing me in." he groans, sinking his fingernails into the plush of your skin "c'mon, tell me you're sorry for being such an attention whore. apologize so i don't kill every man who looked your way." it was all so wrong, so dirty and vile, but it was making your tummy churn in excitement and blood pulse through your veins like nothing else. you felt so insane for liking the ideas Sergei put into your head, but you loved feeling insane as long as it was for him.
"I'm sorry, I'm so s-orry, pleaseㅡ" you moan as he drills deep into you, back flush to the cold counter. "Look at me. Look me in the eyes and apologize." he was so stoic, like he wasn't even destroying your insides right that moment. more tears fall from your eyesㅡ pleasure, fear, actually apologetic tears. you didn’t know which it was. but they fell like pearls. "I'm so-rry, 'm sorry, so sorry.." you were breathless, repeating those same words over and over again, as Sergei sped up his movements, your legs now closed together over one of his shoulders as he fucked into you with no remorse. "Shitㅡ fuck, 'm gonna come. gonna come so deep inside and make you keep it there, make you go to work with my come inside of you, fuck, you'd like that?"
"P-lease...pleaseㅡ! " With a loud plead, you reach your high, walls tightening around Sergei's shaft, causing him to growl. you were left shaking, thighs uncontrollably wriggling in the mans tight hold. with a few more pumps, he paints your walls with warm, white ribbons, panting soft 'you're mine's into the crook of your neck.
you cling to him, breathing in his scent as his seed slowly drips out from within you. you hear him hum before placing a soft kiss on the crown of your head. "my little flower."

My friends showed me the Descendants movie for the first time, and I am very clearly not the target audience for this franchise and that's fine lol.
But for fun, I wanted to do this redesign if I were tasked with imagining the Descendants characters. I personally don't dig the modern setting, so I would've leaned towards a fantasy aesthetic closer to something like The School for Good and Evil.
I knew I wanted Mal to have her mother's (and father's) unnatural complexion, and yellow eyes from both. I also wanted to give another small nod to Hades with the blue flame (if she were to use ger spellbook, the magic from it would manifest in blue flames). I gave her little purple baby horns that would turn black as she got older. I also put hints of red in her outfit, which I wanted to be her main color (especially for her coronation look at the end of the story) later on instead of just purple and black like Maleficent, to reflect her slowly coming into her own. Overall, my goal was to push her look to be a lot more witchy and supernatural looking.
I'll likely redesign the other villain kids as well. Let me know if you'd like to see them too!

Honey love, dark eyes

♡ Chapter four ♡
Summary: Halloween night arrives at the Hoffman barbecue, and you find yourself masking feelings again.
Word count: 8.5k
A/N: Oh, i'm not over... - thank you for your comments, they're so fun lol you all make me laugh !! <3 Hope you enjoy this part.
October 31st. You let your feet drag across the cool bathroom tile, feeling every step. There was something comforting in that small heaviness, your body still lulled by the weight of lunch, and your mind restless, carrying the remnants of memories you'd been revisiting all afternoon. You turned on the shower, waiting a moment before stepping in, the heat closing around you like a second skin. As your fingers combed through your hair, scrubbing it softly, your thoughts slipped forward, out of your control, toward the evening ahead, as inevitable as the pull of gravity.
Last year felt impossibly far away. Sarah had wanted to be a vampire. You’d found her a set of plastic fangs, which she wore with a grin that pushed her cheeks high up on her face. Her cape was metallic, shiny as foil, falling past her shoulders, and she looked so delighted, bouncing on her feet in front of the mirror. You'd managed to take more photos than you ever needed, laughing at her exaggerated grimaces and capturing her tiny poses. Joel had been there, too, playing along, wide-eyed with pretend fear, leaning away from her “fangs” in a way that made her giggle. Every single picture was still on your hard drive—photos from a time you could hardly believe was only a year ago.
This Halloween was different. Sarah had decided on her costume weeks back—an astronaut. You’d spent the better part of September helping her piece it together, and she was beyond excited. She’d be with her friends tonight at a “scary” sleepover, which she’d told you about, bright-eyed and practically bouncing with anticipation. It was strange that she wasn’t here. It felt like there was a piece of Halloween missing, but she hadn’t felt it that way at all. To her, this was the most exciting plan in the world. You’d felt it too, in her voice, like a little pinch in your chest.
This would be the first Halloween in years you’d spend without her, alone at the Hoffmans' barbecue. And without Sarah, Joel wouldn't come either. His attendance at these neighborhood gatherings had always been more about you than the event itself, which you’d always appreciated without needing to say it out loud. You could picture him, standing with a beer, blending into the background, jokingly complaining about the crowds. He’d said he didn’t care for the noise, the small talk, and the endless kids weaving through adults like they were on a secret mission. But you’d noticed the way he’d watch Sarah, his face softened as he looked on, his attention lingering in that way that showed he didn’t mind being here, really, because it was with you and her. And the two of you—Joel and you—could talk about anything. He made everything feel like a continuation of one long conversation, like you’d just pick up right where you’d left off, glancing at each other and knowing what the other meant without even saying it.
You could also picture Clara, who’d come over to him every year, her voice lilting as she placed her hand lightly on his arm, her laugh soft and maybe a bit forced. She had that amused smile, that slight lean toward him whenever she spoke, and you couldn’t resist teasing him about it later. He’d always looked so puzzled whenever you brought it up, though you were sure he knew exactly what you were hinting at. She’d been living in the neighborhood for years, a few houses down, in that bright yellow house, and you knew she’d nursed a quiet crush on him for a while. And Joel, for his part, never seemed to notice.
The thought made you smile, picturing him in that moment, eyes narrowed, brows creased, looking at you as if to say, “Why would she be interested?” But as soon as you felt the smile, the weight of reality caught up. Joel was no longer in your life in the same way. He wasn’t “your” Joel anymore, the friend you’d poke fun at and swap knowing glances with. He wouldn’t be coming to the barbecue this year. With Sarah gone and things fractured between the two of you, he’d have no reason to come.
Maybe this would be the year he’d finally spend Halloween as he’d always said he wanted to—in the quiet of his house, watching a horror movie, the occasional interruption of trick-or-treaters breaking the silence as he handed out candy. The picture of him there, his small, self-contained world entirely separate from you, felt like an ache that had been growing for a long time, quiet and steady.
You missed him. And it made you furious to feel it, like he had somehow taken something from you by hurting you, even though you knew, rationally, that wasn’t true. Still, the feeling stuck, simmering somewhere in the background. You hated that you missed him at all.
*
Your steps matched Travis’s as you left the house, his voice filling the space around you, his hands carving shapes in the air with his animated gestures. The crisp October air wrapped around you, a lingering autumn sun casting a warm, golden wash over everything—the leaves curling on the trees, the lawn stretching out beside you. You hugged your flannel a little closer, fingers brushing over the thick fabric. It was just the right layer—a deep green fleece, oversized, over a worn black T-shirt. You were warm, content, happy even, if only you could hold on to that feeling.
Beside you, Travis was recounting a work spat, his colleague’s tone and insults reimagined in Travis’s flurry of hands. You caught the edges of his words, murmuring a few responses that seemed to satisfy him. By the time you reached the Hoffmans’ house, you were both following the gentle glow of orange lights strung across the yard, stepping into a scene that felt dreamlike, suspended in that late afternoon haze. There was a large oak tree strung with little yellow lights, glowing faintly in the dying sunlight, the whole place set up in the same meticulous, festive way the Hoffmans always did.
Every corner had been turned into Halloween, with cobwebs woven over bushes and pumpkins large and small lining tables, some carved and flickering with candles, others untouched, casting shadows across the tablecloths. Guests mingled at scattered tables, warm drinks in hand, their voices and laughter filling the air with a kind of warmth you hadn’t known you’d needed. The grill added a woodsy scent, smoky and rich, mixed with spices that made your stomach hum with anticipation. A few feet away, kids dressed as witches and monsters zoomed around, their laughter spilling into the light breeze, punctuating the chatter of the adults.
It was the kind of evening that felt ripe for sinking into, letting go of all the worries that had weighed on you lately. You wanted to let yourself simply be here.
Travis glanced at you then, his gaze softening in that way he had, his question as warm as his smile. “I’m heading for food—want anything?” he asked, eyes moving from you to the spread at the far end of the yard.
You pushed yourself up from the table, your hands planted firmly as if grounding yourself.
“I’ll come with you—this is the best part, right?”
The food was better than ever. Tender, perfectly cooked meat, salads piled high, and a sense of community humming through every bite. You found your spot at the table again, balancing your glass of beer on the edge, the faint strains of music drifting from the outdoor speakers blending into the buzz of voices around you. And then, like some personal invitation to memory, you heard the familiar intro; Eyes Without a Face, by Billy Idol, that unmistakable beat curling around you.
Your shoulders started to sway, almost without permission, and then there he was again—Joel. Just like that, back in your mind, as clear as if he were standing beside you. You could picture it—two years ago, slightly tipsy, singing that song in his living room, his hand on your waist, both of you spinning each other slowly to the rhythm, his head tilted back in a deep laugh, voice just slightly off-beat, and you trying and failing to contain your own laughter.
“You okay?” Travis’s voice pulled you back, concern lacing his tone as he looked at you. Your gaze had been locked on some invisible point on the table, your head leaning slightly, reliving a memory that suddenly felt all too close.
“Oh—yeah. It’s nothing. I just love this song.”
He smiled, nodding knowingly. “It’s a classic,” he said, his fingers tapping along with the beat.
You looked up and there, just beyond Travis, the Hoffmans’ glass door slid open. You stopped breathing for a second. Joel stepped out, looking like he’d walked out of some old photograph, hair a bit damp, dark jeans and a gray and black flannel layered over a plain white T-shirt, a pair of black converse grounding him to this moment. He moved toward one of the tables, brushing his chin absentmindedly, his lips moving in time with the music, glancing around as if he were taking it all in for the first time.
And then his gaze found yours.
You held your breath, as if that could somehow make you invisible, as if that would erase this moment. But his eyes stayed on you, unreadable, a half smile on his face or maybe just a neutral expression—some mix of familiar and distant, like he was watching you from a place you could never fully reach. You swallowed, shifting your focus back to Travis, who had his eyes on his phone now, idly typing something while he continued to eat.
“I should’ve dressed up tonight,” you said, your voice intentionally light, trying to shake the weight that had fallen over you. “I don’t know what I’d be, but still. It would be fun to pretend for a night.”
Travis chuckled, leaning in closer, but you could still see Joel over his shoulder, that steady gaze, watching from his own table.
“I know a party tomorrow night—my friend’s hosting, if you want to go with me. We can pick out costumes tomorrow morning, make a day of it.”
You smiled, surprised at how genuinely it formed, pushing your hands together in excitement.
“Really? I’d love that! I haven’t dressed up in years.”
Travis’s face lit up. “Then it’s a date. We’ll figure out the costumes in the morning. Anything you want.”
For a moment, you let yourself lean into that feeling, that lightness in his offer, something to look forward to. Your gaze wandered to Helena and her little daughter by the pool, her laughter carried to you on the breeze, her face illuminated in the soft glow of fairy lights. You patted Travis’s hand and stood up, gesturing for him to follow. He caught on, falling into step behind you as you made your way to greet them.
But as you moved, you couldn’t shake the feeling of Joel’s eyes on you, lingering there in the space between.
It had been more than a month since you'd last seen Helena. She had traveled back to her home country after her father’s death, sorting through family matters, settling things that couldn’t be left undone. Now, with her daughter Iris perched on her lap, she looked better, lighter even. There was a calmness in her eyes that hadn’t been there before, her fingers tracing gentle circles over Iris’s shoulder as the little girl, dressed as a bumblebee, poked unenthusiastically at a slice of pumpkin bread. You sat next to her.
“Hey,” Helena said, catching sight of you with a warm smile that seemed to melt away everything around you—even the awareness of Joel, somewhere behind you, his gaze like a whisper you couldn’t quite shake. “It’s so good to see you. How are you?”
“I’m… fine,” you answered, hesitating as your eyes drifted to Iris, who looked up at you with a shy, dimpled smile. “When did you get back?”
“A few days ago. I was actually planning to stop by tomorrow,” Helena replied, brightening as she added, “I thought we could have dinner, get the girls together, and our guys.” She gave a little chuckle, nudging Iris lightly. “Paul would probably love having Joel around too. The poor guy spent the entire trip surrounded by women—my sisters are wonderful, but you know how it is. It was just him and my dad with all of us, and now…”
Helena had three sisters, each one of them stunning, with the same striking green eyes and dark hair that she had. When you’d met them last Christmas, it was as though you’d stepped into some enchanted fairytale—they moved with an effortless grace, magnetic and ethereal.
Helena’s eyes twinkled as she turned toward Travis. “You should come too, Travis,” she said, a mischievous glint in her expression. She shot you a knowing wink, which Travis, ever polite, caught with a smile.
“Sounds great,” he replied with an easy grin, though you felt a twinge of discomfort at the mention of “our guys,” the thought of Joel slipping into your mind unbidden. Trying to brush it aside, you nodded and shifted the conversation.
“Is Paul not coming tonight?” you asked, hoping to keep things light.
“No,” she sighed. “He’s been swamped at work, trying to catch up after our trip. But I really can’t complain. He was so great, staying home with me all this time, so I told him tonight he should just take his time.”
Suddenly, you heard a familiar voice.
“Helena, it’s so good to see you!” Brenda, always the life of these gatherings, came over with her usual warmth, her gaze lighting up as she reached out for Iris.
Brenda’s costume was a striking homage—her spiky orange hair and dark lipstick made her look both bold and playful. She wore a white shirt stamped with slogans in block print, a chunky pearl necklace framing her smile. As she was sitting in front of Helena, she caught your eye and grinned.
“I'm Vivienne Westwood!” she announced proudly, preening a little under your gaze.
“You look amazing,” you said, meaning it. “And the food is, as always, incredible. You outdo yourself every year.”
Brenda gave your hand a squeeze in response, her gaze softening, but just as she was about to respond, her attention shifted beyond you, a pleased expression lighting up her face. “Oh! Joel, come over here!”
Your body tensed at the sound of his name, feeling as though the space behind you had just closed in. He was there, his footsteps echoing toward you until he was nearly at your back. You wanted to stand up, to avoid the moment entirely, but it would have only made things worse—too obvious, too awkward. Brenda couldn’t have known. Joel had always been a fixture in your life; it wasn’t strange to see him here, even if, for some reason, it felt like he was moving in a world that was no longer entirely yours.
You glanced up, catching sight of Joel as he leaned down to kiss Brenda’s cheek while she patted the seat next to her. His smile was casual, easy, as he greeted the others with a nod, his eyes lingering just a second longer on you and Travis than felt necessary. He looked completely at ease, unbothered by the tension knotting up inside you, sitting comfortably in front of you.
Brenda’s hand rested on his arm as she looked up at him with a fond smile. “Where’s your Sarah? I haven’t seen her all night.”
“She’s at a friend’s sleepover,” Joel replied, a hint of concern threading through his words, though he tried to disguise it with a smile. “So I’m here on her behalf, I suppose.”
“She’s growing up so fast,” Brenda said, her tone nostalgic as she gave him a soft smack on the arm.
Joel shook his head slowly, a bittersweet smile flitting across his face before his gaze moved to Iris. “Tell me about it. I remember when she was this little…”
Helena’s hand drifted over her daughter’s hair as she smiled back at him.
“It all flies by, doesn’t it?” she said, her voice soft. “We really have to hold on to these moments.” She turned toward Travis, and he nodded, a gentle look in his eyes as he watched Iris.
“How old is Sarah now, Joel?” Travis asked, and you noticed a subtle shift in Joel’s expression, a kind of hesitance before he replied.
“Twelve,” he said, his voice quieter, his gaze falling briefly before meeting Travis’s, smile dissapearing.
“Twelve?” Brenda’s tone was incredulous. “I still remember the day you moved in, Joel! She was so little then, a perfect little angel! And you—how old were you then?”
“Twenty-seven,” Joel answered with a wry smile, a hint of nostalgia in his tone.
“You were just a kid yourself,” Brenda replied, shaking her head. “Always working, always rushing somewhere. And always putting your baby first.”
Joel’s smile softened, his eyes meeting Brenda’s with a warm gratitude.
“I couldn’t have managed without you,” he said simply, as though she understood all the years of support and help she had given him.
Helena glanced over with a thoughtful look. “Didn’t you just have a birthday, Joel?” she asked, her voice casual, but the question landing with a weight that made your heart leap.
“That's right,” he murmured, looking down at his hands as he fiddled with his fingers against the edge of the table. “September twenty-sixth.”
“Hey, happy belated birthday then,” Helena said brightly, her smile lighting up the words. “Did you have a nice time?”
Joel looked at you briefly, and something flickered there, like he was turning over a memory he hadn’t expected to find. He shifted his gaze back to his hands. “It was good. Full of… surprises, I guess. Pretty sure Sarah told you all about it, huh?” He shot a glance at Brenda, as if grateful for a way out of the conversation.
“Oh, I heard all about it from Sarah,” Brenda said, grinning, her gaze settling on you with a warmth that made you blush. “You’re a lucky guy, Joel, to have two sweet girls looking out for you like that.” She patted his arm. “I’ll make up a little bag of candy to take home to her, all right? I know she loves the caramel ones.”
You smiled, trying to ignore the prickle of Joel’s gaze on you. And then a feeling dragged you back to years before, to when his Sarah was just three. You could pictured her as a toddler with wide eyes and a toothy, mischievous grin. Joel had shown you those old photos once, and you remembered how adorable she looked, her tiny hand clutching a toy tightly. Sarah had his smile—that same easy warmth, with eyes that crinkled and all but disappeared whenever she laughed. That gesture was even present in Tommy, now that you thought about it. Maybe it was purely a Millers thing, but it—
You realized Brenda was talking to you and straightened up, feeling your cheeks warm.
“Sorry, what?”, you asked.
Brenda chuckled, looking at you with a soft smile. “I was just asking, how old was Sarah when you first met her?”
“She was eight,” Joel answered before you could, glancing at you with a faint smirk.
"Yeah, eight," you echoed the number, ignoring the way his gaze moved over you, lingering with a warmth that felt almost invasive.
At that moment, Helena called Brenda’s attention back to a conversation about Christmas and Iris’s upcoming birthday, but Joel’s eyes stayed on you, searching your face like he was looking for something only you might understand. You tried to keep your own expression neutral, feeling Travis’s hand come to rest on your knee under the table, giving it a gentle squeeze. The warmth of his touch helped you to breathe a little easier, though Joel didn’t miss the gesture. His gaze hardened as he glanced down, the line of his jaw tightening slightly.
Clearing his throat, he leaned forward, finally addressing Travis. “So, how’s business going, Travis? I heard something about real estate taking a hit. Times are rough, aren’t they?”
Travis, completely unfazed, nodded, his hand still on your knee. “It is. At least for now things are still good, but of course, I can speak for myself.”
Joel gave a slow, mocking nod, feigning an interest he didn’t feel. “Well, you seem quite competent. I have no doubt you sure are handy with business. Is your dad still running the company?”
Travis smiled, oblivious to the subtext that hung in Joel’s question. “Yep, still going strong, but I think he’s planning to retire soon. My old man is tired, I think.”
Joel raised his eyebrows in a mock gesture of understanding. “Makes sense. I’m sure you’ll do fine. You seem like the kind who’s got a knack for that… you know, the charm. Every successful businessman needs a little bamboozling spark, don’t they? And I... I think you fit the role.”
“Joel,” you warned quietly, hoping to temper the tension you could feel growing at the table. But Joel merely looked back at you with a faint, defiant smile, ignoring the caution in your eyes.
Travis, patient as ever, simply shrugged. “I appreciate your good faith, Joel. It means a lot coming from you, I know what a hard worker you are.”
The kindness in his tone, the sincerity in his eyes—it made your heart soften. You turned to look at him with a warm smile on your face, how was he immune to the sharp words of the man in front of him? And Joel had a special talent for formulating painful and provocative sentences, but apparently Travis was not the easy guy to gnaw on. And you were grateful for that.
He turned to you, his eyes warm as he pressed a quick kiss to your cheek. “I’m going to get us some drinks. Need anything, beautiful?”
You shook your head, managing a small smile. “I’m good, thanks.”
As he rose and walked away, he gave your shoulder one last affectionate squeeze. You noticed Joel watching Travis’s every move, his expression darkening, and once Travis was out of earshot, Joel’s gaze returned to you. He didn’t bother to hide his irritation, his eyes narrowing in an almost accusatory way as they moved over your face, searching.
“Joel, really,” you whispered, leaning in so only he could hear. “You don’t have to treat him like that. He’s never done a thing to you.”
A smirk flickered across his lips, and he leaned closer, eyes dancing with a kind of challenge. “Treat him like what?”
You shook your head, pulling back to put some distance between you, but Joel’s gaze followed, steady, like he was waiting for you to react, hoping for it even.
Murmuring an apology to Brenda and Helena, you stood, slipping away to the table by the big oak tree where your empty plate and half-full glass still sat. You picked it up, taking a long drink, grateful for the quiet moment, even as you felt his eyes on you from across the garden.
Travis appeared in front of you, a warm smile on his face as he handed over a small plate with a chocolate cupcake, topped with a dollop of cream shaped into a ghost and dusted with coconut. The sweet smell hit you right away, and you leaned in, inhaling the scent, your mouth already watering. You took a bite, savoring the rich chocolate—it tasted like all of Brenda Hoffman’s best baking, delicious and indulgent.
“Maybe after the barbecue, we could head back to my place for a while,” Travis said, his expression slightly tentative, as if he wasn’t entirely sure of your response.
“That sounds perfect,” you replied with a small smile, trying not to feel self-conscious. As you savored another bite, you glanced toward the pool where Joel was still deep in conversation with Brenda, Helena, and Iris. A moment later, you noticed Clara, all golden hair and easy confidence, sliding into the seat you’d left vacant. She placed two plates on the table, one for herself and one for Joel, who glanced up as she settled in, looking pleased.
Travis followed your gaze, then turned back to you with a knowing look.
“He hates me, doesn’t he?” he said, sounding almost amused, though his eyes held a faint hint of confusion. “I think I might understand why, i mean, i think i know why but…”
You blinked, feeling that all-too-familiar twinge of guilt.
“No, he doesn’t hate you,” you said, brushing off the thought. “He’s just acting… well, like a jerk.”
Travis nodded slowly, digesting your words, but then his eyes softened with curiosity.
“You don’t have to answer this if you don’t want to, but… what happened with you two? Weren’t you best friends? I remember you two were always together, but lately…”
You sighed, feeling the tension build as you searched for a way to answer. Travis didn’t need the full story, not yet.
“Like I just told you, he's acting like a jerk,” you said, and it didn't take long to sense that Travis wasn't satisfied with your answer.“Honestly, we just… had an argument a few weeks ago,” you said, carefully choosing each word. “It’s been weird between us since then, I guess.”
Travis seemed to sense that you didn’t want to go deeper, and thankfully he let the topic slide, moving the conversation in a new direction as he began to tell you about the last book he’d read.
“I just finished The Red and the Black, actually,” he said, his gaze turning thoughtful as he picked up his fork, poking at his plate absently. “I didn’t like Madame de Rênal. I thought her choices were a bit… unconvincing.”
You laughed, covering your mouth as you swallowed the last bite of cupcake. “Well, we're talking about revolutionary and passionate times, you know. I mean, Stendhal had his characters reflecting all that intensity. Have you read Goethe’s Werther?”
Travis smirked, shaking his head. “Ah, yes, the Werther book. The one with the famous suicide, right?”
You grinned, raising an eyebrow. “That’s the one. The famous suicide and the iconic outfit. I know it gets heavy, but I’ve always liked it.”
He chuckled, nodding as if to humor you.
“My sister made me read it as a teenager, actually. I thought Werther was too… sentimental for my taste.”
You tried not to smile too widely, picturing a young, disinterested Travis, brow furrowed over Goethe’s verses.
“I get it. I was probably more sympathetic to Werther than I should’ve been. I’ve always been a bit of a romantic myself, so maybe it made sense to me. Though I’ll admit, he does get insufferable.”
“Definitely insufferable,” Travis said, still amused. “I’ve always been more into horror anyway.”
The comment made you smile—Travis had a whole shelf at home stacked with DVDs and old VHS tapes of classics like Nightmare on Elm Street, Cujo, and The Birds. You’d teased him about it, of course, but there was something oddly endearing about it too.
As the conversation flowed, a faint twinge made itself known in your stomach, and you shifted in your seat, trying to ignore it. You’d had a glass of beer and two tall glasses of water before coming over, so the feeling wasn’t exactly a surprise.
“I’ll be right back,” you murmured, excusing yourself as you rose from your spot.
In doing so, you glanced over Travis’s shoulder, only to catch sight of Joel and Clara by the pool. Brenda had moved elsewhere, leaving Clara at Joel’s side, closer than casual. She was leaning into him, her hand resting against his shoulder, tucking a stray curl behind his ear, her laugh light and flirtatious. Joel didn’t seem uncomfortable with her proximity. In fact, he was smiling back at her, his gaze locked on hers in a way that made your heart sink just a little.
You looked away, feeling a strange pang that you couldn’t quite justify. Had he been ignoring Clara before simply because you were there, next to him? But now, alone with her… he didn’t seem to be ignoring her at all.
As you headed toward the house, you forced yourself to shake off the thought. You slipped through the door and let out a sigh of relief, the cool interior air calming your nerves. Walking quietly down the hallway, you reached the bathroom and knocked gently to check if it was free. It was unoccupied, so you slipped inside and closed the door behind you. You paused by the mirror, glancing at your own reflection, almost surprised by the tension in your eyes.
What was Joel doing, looking at Clara like that? Wasn’t he still with Sienna? And what would she think if she saw him now, flirting? It was hard not to wonder if Sienna was like Clara, someone completely different from you.
Clara was a flash of brilliance, a woman who looked like she’d walked off a magazine cover, golden curls that fell like soft waves of sunlight, her skin bronzed from Texas summers, her green eyes glinting with a brightness that made her seem almost elemental, like an extension of the sun. Her voice was soft, delicate; every word felt chosen, measured. She was flirtatious, always laughing, always seemingly content with the way things were. You could almost imagine that Clara might be Joel’s type—a vibrant, sunlit presence. It would make sense; he was her opposite in every way. When you thought of Joel, you thought of nighttime, the murmur of crickets outside a darkened window, strong coffee and smoky whiskey, a deep, hidden undercurrent.
And you? You weren’t sure what you were. You weren’t quite the night, nor the day. Maybe you were something in between, or maybe you were just… undetermined. You wanted to think you had some affinity with the moon, but even that seemed too defined.
You sighed, breaking your gaze from your reflection as you felt an urgency to finish up. A moment later, you were washing your hands, the warm water and lavender soap grounding you a bit as your mind drifted again, wandering along with the suds down the drain. You dried your hands with a soft cotton towel, inhaling the fresh, clean scent.
But when you opened the door, you froze in place. Joel was standing there, leaning casually against the wall, his hands tucked behind him. He had been staring at the floor, but as soon as he heard you, his gaze flicked up. There was an intensity in his expression that made you pause, waiting for him to say something, to step aside, to let you pass. But he didn’t move.
When he finally spoke, his voice cut through the small space like a slow crack.
“Are you with him now?”
“With who, Travis?” you said, sounding more dismissive than you’d intended.
He raised an eyebrow, the faintest trace of a smirk pulling at the corner of his mouth.
“Who else? Or is there another I don’t know about?”
You took a few steps closer, folding your arms, letting your expression go cold and tight, the same way it always seemed to be now, whenever you looked at him.
“I really don’t think that’s any of your business, Joel.” You lifted your chin. “I mean, last time I checked, you haven’t been all that open about your life either. So why would I tell you anything about mine now?”
Joel’s smirk twisted into something sharper. “Didn’t stop you from telling Tommy, did it?”
You shrugged. “Well, you’re not Tommy.”
Joel scoffed, crossing his arms, clearly entertained. “Telling Tommy is practically the same as telling me.”
You lifted an eyebrow, unfazed. “If it makes you feel better, go ahead and believe that.”
But his amusement faded, and he looked at you with something almost searching, like he was trying to find a trace of the way you used to be with him—kind, understanding, open in a way that had made him comfortable. You saw the shift in his face, in the way his eyes flicked between yours, like he was looking for some doorway back to that version of you. But she wasn’t here. Or maybe she was, just not for him anymore.
Then he leaned forward slightly, his voice dropping lower, almost a whisper, as he asked, “Did you sleep with him?”
So you simply met his gaze, letting silence serve as an answer, your lips lifting in a faint, cryptic smile. And then you saw the moment he believed it: his jaw tightened, his breath went shallow, and his eyes seemed to darken, hardening.
The question hit you, and you stayed silent, unsure if an answer would expose the bitter knot you felt at your center. You hadn’t slept with Travis, not yet anyway. But Joel didn’t know that, and you found a petty thrill in letting him wonder, letting him believe what he wanted—that other hands, other lips had erased him from your memory, replaced every touch. That he had no longer been the last man to touch you.
It was pathetic, you knew it, but the curiosity to see his reaction was stronger than anything else. So you decided not to answer, to let the silence lie for you.
“Like I said, none of your business,” you finally said, feeling something small and satisfied flare inside.
Joel chuckled, but it was a grim sound. He looked down briefly, and when he looked back up, there was an almost cruel gleam in his eye.
“Did he know where to touch you?”
You scoffed, turning the question back on him. “Do you really want to know?”
The moment the words left your mouth, you regretted them. You knew Joel well enough to know he would go there if he could. But you couldn’t let him gain the upper hand, not here. If anything, you needed to keep him off-balance, keep him uncomfortable.
“Oh, I’m all ears,” he replied, his smile gone now, leaving only a hard, steady gaze that felt like it was drilling into you.
You felt your cheeks flush, but you held his gaze, determined.
“He was the best I’ve ever had,” you said, letting each word hang in the air, daring him to question it. You tilted your head, feigning a fond, private recollection. “Gentle, but rough when I wanted him to be. And you want to know the best part?”
Joel’s throat bobbed as he swallowed, and for a moment, his expression softened. The dark look in his eyes deepened, his smile long gone.
“Afterwards, when I woke up,” you went on, drawing out each word, “Travis was still there.”
Joel’s head dipped, his eyes dropping to the ground, and you took a brief, selfish moment to take in the sight of him, almost broken in front of you. But something twisted in your chest; the satisfaction felt hollow, quickly replaced by a pang of something closer to pity, almost regret. You had an impulse to reach out, to tell him you hadn’t meant it, that Travis wasn’t even in the picture, that he hadn’t been the best or the first or anything. But you couldn’t allow that.
You had to remind yourself why you’d stopped letting Joel in—how he’d left you out in the cold, how he’d made your feelings seem like nothing, as if they didn’t matter enough to consider. You had to remind yourself of Sienna, this woman who felt like a ghost, hovering between you and Joel, even though you’d never even met her. And if he was really with someone else, what was he doing here, pushing and prying, acting like he had the right to know these things about you? Why was he acting like he cared if you’d moved on, or if you were with someone else, when he was so openly flirting with Clara just a few minutes ago in Brenda’s backyard? Had he become a complete asshole, or had he always been like that and you were just now realizing it?
As the memory of it all flooded back, the tenderness you'd felt earlier drained away, replaced by a familiar, suffocating anger. It surged up from somewhere deep inside you, visceral and sharp, and before you could stop yourself, your body moved instinctively—stepping back, away from him—until your back hit the cold wall by the bathroom door. The impact was jarring, but it felt like a small, needed separation.
Joel didn’t speak right away. He stood still, his eyes shifting downward, slowly, moving over your body, before meeting your face again. His expression was unreadable, like a mask he didn’t quite know how to remove. It irritated you, this silence, this uncertainty that hung between you two like an unwelcome guest.
Finally, you broke the tension, pushing yourself off the wall and stepping back, away from him. But just as you tried to distance yourself, his voice vibrated through the air, low and deliberate, cutting into your thoughts.
“That’s mine,” he said.
“What?” you managed, almost gasping, your eyes darting between his face and his hands, as if looking for something—anything—to explain this new, impossible tension.
Joel didn’t move. He was still, a presence that loomed larger by the second. His gaze was steady on you, tracing your body and your face, slow and deliberate.
“The flannel,” he repeated, his voice dropping lower, rough around the edges. “It’s mine.”
You looked down at the fabric, the soft, familiar warmth of it, and felt a sudden jolt. God. He was right. It was his. But it had been yours for years. You'd worn it so often, so comfortably, that you'd forgotten it ever belonged to anyone else. Maybe he'd lent it to you once, a lifetime ago, on one of those cold nights when you both sat under blankets. But he’d never asked for it back, had he? He never seemed to care, and you never thought to return it. It had just... stayed with you.
When you lifted your eyes back to him, Joel had moved off the wall, stepping toward you with slow, deliberate steps, closing the distance between you. Too close. He was too close, and you could feel the heat radiating off his body as his presence engulfed you.
“What happened?” His voice was soft, but there was a simmering undercurrent, a teasing tone that made your pulse quicken, though you weren’t sure why. “Did you forget to include it in your little box when you gave everything back to me?”
You felt a bitter chuckle bubble in your throat, an angry little sound that you couldn’t quite hold back. You shook your head slightly, irritated, your chest tight as you opened your mouth to speak, but he interrupted you, his words coming fast, sharper than before.
“Doesn’t your little boyfriend mind you wearing another man’s clothes?” he asked, his voice dripping with something like disdain, like he had been holding that question inside for far too long. His eyes darkened, gliding down to the fabric again, then to your body, before he reached forward, his fingers brushing the edge of the flannel as if testing the boundaries. “Or does he already know this isn’t the only thing of mine that’s wrapped around you?”
A shiver ran through you, a mixture of anger and something else—something hotter, something less easy to define. You didn’t want to feel it, but it was there, and it was impossible to ignore.
No. This wasn’t about that. This was about him—how dare he?
In a sudden movement, your hands moved to the buttons of the flannel, fumbling with them in a rush, eager to take it off, to rid yourself of him. But as you tugged the fabric down over your shoulders, you felt Joel’s hand close around your left wrist, his palm warm against your skin, halting you, slowing you down. The touch was too familiar, too intimate, and it sent a jolt of something you couldn’t quite identify straight to your stomach.
“No,” he said, his voice suddenly low and commanding, like he was trying to anchor you, like he was trying to hold you in place. “It’s yours. Don’t take it off.”
You snorted, a dry, incredulous sound, and with an almost violent motion, you yanked your hand away from his, finishing the job of removing the flannel with a sharp tug.
Joel’s jaw tightened, his eyes darkening further, and for a moment, you could see the effort it took him to stay still. His eyes lingered on you, tracing your every move, as you held the soft fabric against his chest. You could feel the air shift, feel the weight of his gaze on your skin, and your heart beat a little faster.
You looked up at him, the anger suddenly spilling out of you. “No. You’re right. It’s yours. I should have given it back to you a long time ago.”
His hand moved up to his chest, over yours, taking the fabric from you with a slow, deliberate motion.
“Put it back on,” he said, his voice softer now, like he was trying to smooth over something that had frayed. "It's cold outside."
You wanted to fight it, to say something sharp, but your irritation bubbled up before you could stop it.
“Good thing I live across the block, then,” you blurted, the words coming out thicker with frustration as you pulled your hand free from under his, feeling the heat of his fingers linger on your skin.
Joel's patience was running thin. His hand shot out again, grabbing the flannel in a fist and pulling it closer to you, the fabric stretching between your bodies.
“Stop being so stubborn and put it back on,” he said, his tone more demanding, more urgent. His voice had a sharpness to it now, almost like a warning.
Something inside you snapped. You shoved his hand back hard, with as much force as you could muster, pushing him away—not enough to hurt, but enough to make your point. His body didn’t move, though. It stayed solid, unyielding, the broadness of his shoulders making you feel small, like you were being swallowed by his presence.
Frustration bubbled inside you, gnawing at your chest as you turned sharply on your heels, determined to leave. Your steps were quick, purposeful, as you made your way toward the hallway exit, the air heavy with everything left unsaid between you and Joel. But then, a firm grip wrapped around your wrist, dragging you back to him. You pivoted on instinct, meeting his gaze with eyes darkened by anger, sharp and focused.
For a moment, your mind flashed with the impulse to tear his hand off your wrist, to wrench it away and walk out of this whole mess. But you let it go. Instead, you locked eyes with him, your breath catching as your irritation turned into something more potent—exasperation.
“Enough, Joel,” you said, your voice cutting through the tension like a blade. “I'm tired of fighting with you.” The words spilled out before you could stop them, and inside, you couldn’t help but wonder how it had come to this—how two people who once fit so easily together had ended up here, so broken and scattered.
“Then let’s not fight,” he said, his voice softer now, almost like he was pleading. There was a quiet desperation in his words, a slight hitch, as if he was offering a fragile truce. “We can—”
“I’m afraid that’s impossible,” you interrupted, your words sharp and cold, the bitterness clinging to every syllable. “I can’t stand you anymore.” As soon as they left your lips, you realized how hard and cruel they sounded, but you didn’t care. You were exhausted. Tired of the games, tired of the back-and-forth. The anger inside you surged again, hotter than before, as his fingers tightened around your wrist, forcing you to feel the weight of it. Desperation.
“Don’t look for me,” you continued, the words raw and unrelenting. “Don’t talk to me anymore. Don’t look at me. I don’t want anything to do with you. I’ve had enough of all of this. If I could go back in time, I’d change everything, I’d avoid all of this shit.” The heat in your chest built as tears threatened, burning behind your eyes. “But I can’t. I can’t do anything about it, and neither can you, so leave me the fuck alone for once. Avoid me if you can and I’ll avoid you. Pretend I don’t fucking exist. I don't know. Just stop it, Joel.”
The impact of your words hit him like a physical blow. You saw the flash of pain in his eyes, the way his mouth twisted, his face contorting in a wince. Something inside you sank, and for a moment, regret pierced you. But then, the anger pushed the guilt aside. He hadn’t been considerate of you before, had he? And that thought, that realization, let the remorse slip away.
His grip loosened just slightly, but he didn’t release you. Instead, his fingers trailed down to your palm, stroking it gently with his fingertips, his breath shallow and measured, like he was holding himself back from saying something more.
For a moment, you both stood still, suspended in that space, him looking at you, and you trying not to look at him—waiting, anticipating what would come next. What was the right thing to do now? You should walk away. Right now. Now.
But then his voice, quiet and soft, cut through the air.
“You don’t need me anymore?”
“No,” you said, the word escaping before you could stop it. The lie tasted bitter on your tongue, and the second it left you, you could feel it: the squeeze in your chest, the twisting of your heart. It wasn’t true, not really. But you wanted it to be. You wanted it to be true more than anything.
Joel’s eyes flickered, just for a second, like they were searching for something in your face that wasn’t there. His expression faltered, his hand falling away from yours, his gaze dropping to the floor, as if the weight of your words had crushed him.
“I know that’s not true, baby,” he whispered, his voice rough with something you couldn’t name, but it was too much. You couldn’t bear to see it.
You shook your head, refusing to let the crack in your own resolve show.
“Maybe not, yet,” you said, your voice colder now, harder. “But I’ll do whatever it takes to make it true.”
With that, you turned away before you could second-guess yourself, before you could see his reaction and let the guilt undo you. You didn’t want to stay. Not now. If you stayed a moment longer, you knew you would apologize, you’d cave, you’d let him back in. But you couldn’t. You couldn’t keep doing this.
You walked quickly back to your seat, each step carrying you farther away from him, from the tension that had become unbearable. You barely noticed Travis’s worried look when you sat down next to him.
“Are you all right?” he asked, his voice laced with concern. “You were gone a while.”
You nodded, forcing a weak, half-smile. But inside, it felt like everything was crumbling. Your bones felt brittle, as if they might snap with the weight of it all. Your body had turned to lead, your muscles drained of all strength. Your eyes, heavy with unshed tears, were a reflection of the ache in your chest.
You just wanted to go home, crawl into your bed, and never come out. The lump in your throat grew larger with every second, and the cold air stung your neck, making you shiver.
“What happened to your shirt?” Travis asked, noticing the way your body had become tense and cold.
You didn’t answer, relieved when he stood and came to stand beside you. You watched as he shrugged off his jacket, his movements gentle, as he draped it over your shoulders and helped you tuck your arms into it.
Once you were warm, Travis slipped his arm over your shoulders, pulling you into him, his soft kiss to the top of your head offering a fleeting moment of comfort. You couldn’t help but lean into him, resting your head on his collarbone, inhaling the familiar scent of his perfume. For a moment, you allowed yourself to feel the comfort of being held, the peace of someone who wasn’t trying to tear you apart.
But then you heard it—the sliding door opening. And you knew.
When you opened your eyes, you saw him. Joel. Walking out of the house, his pace slow, deliberate, as he clutched the flannel shirt in his left hand. His eyes were cast downward, but when he looked up, they locked on you. His expression shifted, something unreadable in the way he looked at you, and your stomach dropped.
He walked toward his table, his fist clenching the fabric so tightly that his knuckles went white, his gaze never leaving you. You couldn’t look away either. It was like a magnetic pull.
At his table, Carla was waiting, her eyes fixed on him like a hawk circling prey. You felt an involuntary surge of disgust. You wanted to stand up, to march over there and shake her, to tell her to leave, to stop, that she was being pathetic. But then, the sharp, bitter truth hit you: Carla wasn’t the problem. You were. She reminded you of yourself—the way you’d clung to Joel, the way you’d let him define you.
Joel spoke, his voice angry and loud enough for you to hear from where you sat.
“I’m going home,” he said, his eyes cutting through Carla as he raised his head to her height. Then he pulled back, holding out his hand. “Y'wanna come with me?”
And there it was—the knot in your chest tightened. Carla nodded, flushed with a victorious smile, and took his hand. The same hand that had held yours just minutes before.
You closed your eyes, sinking further into Travis’s embrace, the ache in your chest spreading, overwhelming.
You couldn’t leave now. Not with him walking out, not with her next to him. What would you do? Cross paths with them on the way out? Watch them walk away together? The thought was unbearable.
“Can we go to your place for a while?” Your voice was small, almost breaking as you whispered into Travis’s chest.
“Sure thing, honey,” he murmured, the warmth of his body offering a small, fleeting comfort against the storm of emotions inside you.

Steddie Halloween
Halloween after 'Spring Break' must be such a hard time for Steve. This is the guy that regularly hosted costume parties at his house during his King Steve era. And at some point probably hosted more laid back ones for the kids and Robin.
But since the Russian bunker he just... can't.
He has regular and more frequent night terrors of torture that had him and Robin shivering and holding onto one another like buoys. He's been dragged down into the depths of lakes by unseen monsters that left all kinds of scars. He gets migraines from moving too quickly or seeing strobing lights.
He carried Eddie's body out of the upside down, hands slippery in blood. He did CPR and felt Eddie's ribs crack under his hands. He looked at Eddie handcuffed to a hospital bed while doctors said we just don't know yet. Had to watch his Uncle, his father, sit by Eddie every day, rarely leaving his side, staring at his chest like he was grateful for each breath his boy took.
So. He's not really able to do Halloween anymore. And that's hard for him.
But whatever. He'll survive. He's fine to sit on the sidelines if it means the others will have a good time.
At this point, Steve was already coming to terms with his bisexuality. He'd already done a speed run through the Coming Out stages and walked out the other side with the eerie confidence only Steve Harrington could muster. This is a dude who has decided that he's going to flirt with Eddie until the other realizes and gets with the program. He knows Eddie likes him. He's a pro at dating and relationships and crushes. He just needs Eddie to figure out that the not so subtle hints mean something.
And then came Halloween.
He'd already told Eddie during a movie night about how much he missed the spooky season.
(And yes, he did discuss it while openly combing Eddie's hair back from his face and absolutely relishing in the way the other boy was turning all kinds of pink under the glow of the TV. Yes, Eddie was taking his time to catch up but no one said Steve couldn't have fun while he waited).
"Aw man. That sucks." Eddie barely managed to boot up his brain again to answer.
"It's fine," Steve would say, even though it wasn't.
And then, on October 31st, Steve wakes up to a maze in his backyard.
It's not a very good maze. It's mostly just tipped over pallets taken from behind Melvalds as the walls and tarps as the ceiling to block out some of the light. But it's so clearly meant to be some kind of a haunted hallway.
Steve is in boxers and a ratty Hawkins Swim Team t-shirt. He didn't take time to put on shoes, so he's walking across the cold concrete and the dewy grass in tube socks.
There's a sign posted on a piece of cardboard at the entrance.
ENTER IF YOU DARE
He stands there, shifting from foot to foot in his rapidly dampening socks, not quite sure what to do but intrigued nonetheless.
There's whispering and hushed voices from inside. And then Dustin is stomping out from around one of the pallet corners dressed in a suit that's clearly too small for him.
"Come on, dude. Can't you read? You're supposed to enter."
"It says enter if I dare."
"Yeah. So enter."
"What if I don't dare?"
Dustin rolls his eyes hard enough to make them stick, and honestly this kid and his tone.
"Can you just-" He groans. "Look. Eddie set this thing up and he and Robin dragged us all out of our beds at ass o'clock in the morning to put on these stupid haunted house costumes and wait around for you to wake up. So can you please just dare?"
Steve blinks. He looks at Dustin's suit. The tie is a little crooked and he's wearing bright yellow socks with his dress shoes. "I thought haunted house costumes were supposed to be... yunno... scary?"
"Yeah," said Dustin, gesturing to himself. "I'm the corporate grind."
And Steve can't do anything but laugh.
He goes through the little haunted maze. El was apparently having the time of her life and waves at him from a dead end, decked out a dress she made out of bits of stapled paper. "I am very frightening," she assured Steve. "I am overdue bills."
"That is very frightening," Steve agreed and ruffled her hair before going down another short hallway.
No one jumps out. There are no bright lights. Will had drawn decorations that they'd taped to the inside of the recycled plywood warning him of imposter syndrome and sleeping past your alarm and girls. Lucas at least put in a little more effort as a basketball player, though he had his knee wrapped in a bandage they must have picked up at the pharmacy and explained to Steve that the true horrors were being benched all season.
Max had refused to put on a costume and declared that she was scary all on her own.
Even Robin was there, waving at him. There was a cooler besides her. "This is the checkpoint," she said. "All the best haunted houses have checkpoints."
Apparently, the checkpoint included his migraine medication that he'd coincidentally forgotten to take that morning and a takeaway cup of lukewarm coffee.
"I tried to keep it warm!" She flapped her hands, waving them at the cardboard cup. "I literally held it between my knees and everything. But I had to help Eddie out last night to start building and-" she paused. "Shit. I wasn't supposed to tell you that. Forget I said that! Just- drink your coffee! Or don't! Is it warm enough? It's probably not. Fuck."
Steve is always shocked at how much more he loves Robin every day.
"It's good," Steve assured her, taking a sip. "Much scarier this way. Nothing scarier than a cold cup of coffee."
When he finally does make it to the end of the maze, Eddie is right there waiting. He's dressed as a vampire, with the stupid fake teeth and blood drawn down his chin with lipstick.
"You escaped the haunted maze!" Eddie put on a show of acting shocked, horrified, angry. His speech comes out garbled from behind the plastic teeth so it sounded more like you ethcaped the ha'ted mathe! It was endearing. Charming. Perfect. "My evil plan is foiled!"
Steve smiled. He looked back at the tarp and plywood and cardboard and duct tape. "You put this all together?" He turned back. "You built me a haunted house?"
Eddie's posturing paused. Despite how much he tried, there was little Eddie could do to hide the way he turned almost shy. He took out the teeth. "Uh. Yeah. But it's no big deal."
"It's kind of a big deal."
"It's really not," said Eddie. "Just- yunno. Figured you should be included." He brightened. "And this isn't everything! We've got a party planned at Joyce's tonight. Low music, we'll keep the lights on. Kids even picked out a movie, but I can't attest to the quality."
"You built me a haunted house."
"I... did." Eddie cleared his throat. He shoved the teeth back in. "But just so you know, it was all part of my evil plan. Which you foiled, My Liege!"
Steve stepped forward. "What was it?"
Eddie paused.
"The evil plan. What was it?"
"Oh. Uh." Eddie swallowed. "Keep you in my evil clutches forever?"
Steve beamed.
Robin had to usher a group of jeering kids away from the Harrington house. It was apparently too much for them to see Steve grab Eddie by the edges of his stupid vampire cape and tug him into a kiss.
"Dracula doesn't swoon," Dustin shouted back at them, covering his eyes.
"This one does," said Steve happily, before going back to work on a very shocked Eddie.
In the end, it did take Eddie a minute to catch up. Once his brain rebooted and he was able to comprehend that he was kissing Steve Harrington, the boy he'd loved since long, long ago.
He spends that night at the party sitting on the couch with his face buried against Steve's chest while the movie played. "You'd been flirting with me?"
"Mmmhm," said Steve, popping a candy corn into his mouth.
"This whole time?"
"Yup," said Steve.
"I wasn't imagining it?"
"Nope," said Steve.
"This is real?"
"Yup," said Steve, and dropped a kiss onto the top of Eddie's head.
"Okay," rasped Eddie. "Just checking."
"Learning how dumb you were being was the scariest thing this entire halloween," Dustin mumbled from the floor.

sticky fingers ellie williams
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
read this
synopsis: you and your best friend got popsicles on a hot day, but ellie finishes hers first.
cw: swearing, dialogue heavy at first, homoerotic friendship i fear, hinted themes, dirty minded hoes who act oblivious, a whole lotta mouth and tongue but no nothang but slighhhhhttttlyyy nsfw.
a/n: idk what this is it just came to me as i had a popsicle in the morning lmao... i js missed writing.
you're walking home with one of best friends, ellie, after a day at the park. it was a boring and oppressively hot day. you had bought yourselves ice lollies to help survive the sultry weather.
"is it good?" ellie speaks, pointing to your yellow popsicle.
"yeah, ellie, it's good." you say, matter-of-factly.
"i love pineapple." she looks away from you as you come closer to the crossing, both you looking to the sides of the road in sync.
“i know, me too." you reply shortly, not giving her the time of day, rapidly crossing the street. ellie stays silent, but not for too long.
"well..." she mutters when she catches your trail.
"yes?" you know what she wants but you still play dumb. you're not gonna give it to her.
“just a taste—" she starts whining, and you cut her off.
“nope." that's all you say in response.
you turn the stick horizontally as you get to the middle of the ice lolly, you suck on it and she's snorts heavily. she seems to drag her feet along the sidewalk.
“please, it's so hot out here.” ellie insists on the subject.
"it’s not my fault you fucking gobbled yours." you giggle, flicking her forehead.
she lets out a cartoon-like ‘ouch’ and she pushes your arm.
"bruh, it was small." ellie complains before wiping sweat off her nape, where strands of hair stuck onto.
“doooon't caaaare.” you smirk.
you bite the ice off the stick and she looks like she's mourning its loss. ellie loves pineapple artificial flavoring, despite choosing not to eat too much actual pineapple because when you two ate a bunch of pineapple slices together, you ended up with prickled tongues and mouth ulcers. it wasn't fun.
you can read her expression well enough to let out a chuckle, almost choking on the juice that pools inside your mouth. she clicks her tongue at the sound of slurping coming from you, she focuses on the noise of lawn mowers on your neighborhood instead, but they're just as annoying.
"ellie." you mutter with a heavy breath, she can hear what remains on your tongue moving. she hums in response.
you know ellie's annoyed. you were friends, but you were afraid that you had spoiled her. whenever you denied her anything, she'd catch an attitude. and you liked teasing her. you thought she looked cute when she'd look away from you with a serious face over something so small as a popsicle.
“lukami.” you say, he contorts her face in confusion, and you slurp at the juices to clear your words.
“look at me." you repeat, now coherently, grabbing her cheeks.
“yeah? what do you want?" she looks at you, and you take a disgustingly loud and final slurp.
ellie knows the pineapple stick is gone now, and she didn't even get to taste it. she pictured herself tasting it off your lips, or even your tongue. she wondered if she'd able to feel the refreshment if she sucked on your tongue after all the sucking you did on that popsicle.
“guess what?” you smile, she takes a little too long to answer and you wonder what goes through her mind.
but well, she's nasty, isn't she? she wanted it, no matter if it meant licking around one of her best friend's mouth. she's upset, but she knows it's silly.
“what?” she shrugs.
"i have popsicles at home.” you say excitedly and you look giddy, your sugary fingers still on her face.
“whatever," she looked away, forcing away from your hold. "get those sticky fingers away from me."
"that's a great album, by the way." you ignore her demand, chuckling.
you mess with her cheeks, smearing her with the syrup on your hand. you left a spot on her lips, she licked it. finally, she knows what it tasted like and she yearns for more.
“you're so messy, ya know?" she smiles wide.
you look at your hand as she grabs and holds it where it was, against her lips. you stop on your tracks completely, feeling her tongue stick out of her lips and coming in contact with the pad of your fingers, it tickles. you giggle.
she hums at the sweetness of it and looks up at you from your fingers, what a kid!
"ellie, please, what's wrong with you?" you laugh, and she does too. sugar puts her in a good mood.
“should've just let me taste it.” she speaks.
you would've thought she was done but ellie takes your index finger inside her mouth for shits and giggles, her warm as the day tongue massaging your finger as she sucks on it.
“you're so stupid.” you say, using minimal to no strength to push her face with the hand she entrapped. she smiles around your finger.
you feel the desire to slide your finger further into her mouth to wipe that shit-eating grin of her face. you imagined how ellie would look when she gagged on it, the shock in her eyes would be amusing, you assume. these thoughts run around your mind.
you think she might have an oral fixation by the looks of it,you look around, making sure no one was watching this seemingly obscenity.
"god, ellie.." you sigh in defeat when she flutters her eyes shut. you watch, mind running around her soft features and braking on her pursed lips, tainted red from her late watermelon popsicle.
then she releases your finger, after god knows how long (now that your fingerprint is practically part of her tongue’s muscle memory). you snap back to reality, freshly cut grass smell hitting your nose and unbearable sun hitting your skin.
ellie looks proud of herself.
"it really was good. what flavors you got at home?" she asks and starts walking again. you clean your now spit dirty fingers on your shirt and walk with her, enumerating the flavors of popsicles your dad had bought and stacked in the freezer.

suna rintarou x f!reader — 18+ only, 1.3k, piss kink, fingering, unprotected p in v, creampie, roommate!suna, perv!suna, based on this drabble
Tumblr media
Rintarou wants to laugh at the irony of it—what’s currently staring back at him from your laptop screen.
He covers the bottom half of his face, hot breath curling against his palm as he lets out a ragged exhale of disbelief.
The thing is, he’s found plenty of things that have left his cock twitching eagerly with interest since he adopted this fucked up habit of perusing your incriminating porn tabs of choice whenever you forget to close out your silly little incognito browser window.
It’s like a game of roulette, the way his thumb hovers over the touchpad before clicking over to the next tab to see what else could have possibly contributed to draining your vibrator battery last night.
Spitting in her mouth!!!
Anal sex (no lube just SPIT)
I choked him and he came untouched??
If Rintarou was a good roommate and friend, he would have immediately closed the browser window full of filthy porn tabs the first time he went to borrow your laptop and found them staring back at him.
hot wet messy snowballing
Edging her till she’s begging for it (three orgasms)
Or at the very least, he wouldn’t have made a goddamn habit of it.
FIRST TIME SQUIRTER HUGE MESS!!!!!
But it's been fun, all of these little discoveries. The things he’s learned about you through clicks and keystrokes. Because Rin’s seen the guys you’ve brought home before—
—and he’ll bet his own goddamn balls that none of them has ever grabbed your face and made out with you after busting a hot load of cum in your pretty mouth.
Amateurs.
But this—
This.
This is…
Rintarou weakly rubs his fingers over his eyes, like it’ll somehow change the one and only tab that was waiting for him on your screen today.
And in the back of his mind, idly, he wonders if you closed out all the rest and forgot to dispose of this final piece of evidence.
Or if this video alone was enough to get you off that quickly—
(And it’s dangerous, that thought.)
He slowly closes your laptop.
—-
Rintarou’s calm, mature decision to turn over a new leaf and stop fucking his fist like a pervert to the knowledge of what gets you off lasts approximately four and a half minutes.
Four and a half minutes, and he’s in his room with his boxers discarded somewhere between the bed and the door, flushed, leaking cock gripped tightly in his fist.
Two strokes and his balls are already seizing up.
Suna Rintarou’s dick is twitching between his fingers on a hair trigger—
and you—
you—
—you have a piss kink.
His mind is already far beyond the memory of the two faceless participants in the video you’d been watching. Miles and miles past SHE PISSED ON MY DICK (huge cumshot!!).
Rin doesn’t give a single fuck about whatever else he missed out on in the remaining five minutes of the video that he promptly closed out of.
Because all he can think about is you.
You and those flowy sundresses you like to wear as soon as a hint of warm weather hits the forecast.
You and those lacy little white panties that you sometimes forget in the corner on the bathroom floor after showering.
You and your abysmally small bladder.
Rintarou’s mind is caught in a hazy fantasy, one that finds two of you making out in his bed. You’re wearing that yellow dress that he really likes, and the thin material slips up your thighs like butter when he grasps your waist and pulls you on top of him.
Your lips slide against his, soft moans slipping up your throat as you straddle him, his sweatpants doing absolutely nothing to obscure the sheer amount of blood that’s rushed to his cock in the time since the two of you hit the mattress.
And then you giggle, murmuring something shyly against his lips about how wait, wait, you have to pee.
Logically, because you live together and you share a bathroom and Rin knows you, he should offer you a slightly dramatic, put-out sigh, hands resting behind his head as he waits for you to return.
But Rin’s so goddamn hard and your cunt feels so warm grinding against him, even through your underwear. And he honestly doesn’t really care about these sheets or this mattress.
Rintarou doesn’t give a fuck about much of anything besides the thought of how it wouldn’t just be warm, but hot if you—
“Just go.”
You laugh, gentle and amused. Like he’s joking.
Like he didn’t just ask you to piss on him.
“Rin—”
He pushes up the skirt of your dress, exposing those white panties and the obvious wet spot of arousal that’s already soaked through the material that hugs your swollen folds.
You blink down at him, breath hitching in your throat.
“Rin, I really have to—”
He brushes a finger down your slit, featherlight, not missing the full-body shiver that courses through you.
You whine.
Hooking a finger in your panties, he tugs them aside to expose your cunt.
“You have to what?” he asks calmly, pressing his thumb into the puffy, throbbing button of your clit.
You exhale silently, eyes falling shut for a moment like it’s taking everything in your power to keep holding it in.
“I have to pee.”
Rintarou uses his free hand to push down his sweatpants and boxers, letting his cock spring free. He stares up at you.
“Prove it.”
Your eyes go a little wide, bottom lip getting caught between the trap of your teeth as your thighs tremble slightly.
“I can’t—”
Rin traces your fluttering entrance with the pad of his middle finger, and your hips stutter as you bite back a moan.
“Why not?”
He slides a finger in, and fuck, fuck, fuck you’re so wet for him.
Your pussy clenches around the digit.
“We’re in your bed. It’ll…it’ll make a mess…”
Rin smiles, because this is just some fucked up fantasy he conjured, and he can buy a hundred goddamn beds for you to piss all over if he wants to.
“And?”
Two fingers.
“Rin I’m—”
A warm trickle slides down his knuckles. He slowly pumps in and out of your pussy.
“Do it.”
More drips out.
He pulls his fingers out of you and rests his palm flat over your bladder.
“Oh—”
Rin pushes down at the same moment that he slides his hard cock lengthwise down your wet slit.
And all at once, you release.
Hot piss floods out of you, spraying all over his cock.
And Rintarou groans, gasping at the sensation, at the feeling of it coating his cock and dripping down his balls.
You’re still pissing when you start grinding your cunt against his dick again, desperately, frantically, whining like you’re about to—
You come hard, shaking and sobbing his name against his chest, and Rin’s already halfway to stroking his piss soaked cock to his own completion when you gasp, “Fuck me, Rin. Fuck me. Please fuck me.”
It’s obscene how wet you are, how easily he pumps his cock right into your dripping hole. Rin flips you over onto your back, fucking into your pussy with uneven, shallow strokes because it’s all he can manage before blowing his load.
And because Rin’s a filthy pervert—
“That’s all?” you weakly laugh into his shoulder as he collapses against you afterward, softening cock still nestled in your cunt.
Rin mouths at your collarbone.
“Just say it if you want it.”
You sigh.
“Rin.”
Hand drifting to the base of his cock, he rubs his fingers against the place where it meets your fucked out folds.
He lets out the slightest dribble, just enough to have you gasp with awareness.
“Rin please.”
He shifts, mouth slotting against your lips, tongue lazily sliding into your mouth as a hot flood of piss floods your cunt.
(You’re a filthy, wet, needy mess of cum and piss when he’s finished finger fucking you over the edge of another orgasm.)
Rintarou wakes up to the sound of the heavy front door to the apartment closing, your shoes clicking across the laminate flooring down the entryway.
His hands are sticky with dried cum, sweatpants damp and soaked through with more than just his seed as they cling to his thighs.
He's already hard again.
"Fuck."

Massive kudos to the South of Midnight team for the attention to detail in environmental storytelling and character design! I know there's still a ton of stuff I can't even begin to guess at, but I've been able to glean a good amount just from the trailers, and it's all got me itching for more.
Some things I've been able to spot, just from these two screenshots:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd already kinda gotten the impression from Hazel's tattoo choker necklace and Lisa Frank-esque dolphin-rainbow tank top...but after seeing Lacey's half of a "best friends" heart necklace and jean jacket? I'd be shocked if this doesn't take place in or around the 90s. (Which is a solid choice, since it's a good way to limit having to worry about the question of cell phones.) Plus, if you take a look at their fridge, you can see magnets of the primary mythical creatures we'll run across! I listed most of them in the alt text if you can't tell what they are, but if I had to guess at the mystery cut-off one in the second screenshot...I'd say it's the Altamaha-ha from the announcement trailer. (Which I think is also maybe the purple-pink aquatic creature you can see for a split second near the end of the story trailer.) And...well, it's not visible in these screenshots, but in this scene Hazel also accidentally knocks a handmade mug off the counter. That mug has a bottle tree design on it, as featured in the game's logo and as important in-game magical elements!
Also fun is some of the detailing for Shakin' Bones:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His guitar has a Prospero license plate near the bottom (also seen on a half-sunk taxi that Catfish swims past in the gameplay trailer), which says CROS RDS (or "crossroads"). Below his arm you can see his name "Bones" carved into the face of the guitar, flanked by a couple Fleur-de-lis, and in a couple spots there's decorative blue paint (haint blue, I'd bet). Plus some short bits of bone (femur, at a guess), for both the bottom strap button and the tuning knobs. There's also a broken, rusted sawblade for a pickguard...which curiously has an elegant leafy design carved onto it. There's a similar leafy design carved along the top side of the guitar, too. Bones himself has a lot of different flora growing on him...at least two different kinds of leafy plants (small round leaves on his shoes, larger pointy leaves on his arms and neck), and some small brown mushrooms. And while I don't know enough about plants to recognize what those three might be, I'm pretty sure the flowers on his neck and side are swamp lilies. (The flower on his side is visible near the start of the announcement trailer, when you see him from behind. I'm also pretty sure I spotted some swamp lilies growing around Rhubarb's house in the story trailer, in their standard cluster form vs. Bones' unique singular flowers. Fun fact: for folks who play Secret World and remember a particular painting of some import in the Franklin Mansion, you may be amused to note that one of that flower's colloquial names is "seven sisters.")
There's also...well...these are a bit more spoiler-y, so I'll put them under a cut and try to keep it vague. But there's visual clues hinting at some secrets a few folks seem to have...
Less overtly secret, but still some story spoilers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The most obvious thing at first glance in the first screenshot is the presence of Huggin' Molly's red yarn inside the broken wall. At second glance, and double-checking the start of the trailer to confirm the yellow paint and window style matches, this appears to be Hazel's house. But looking more carefully, one might notice that the exposed inner boards of the wall seem to have a little faded blue paint...suggesting that the house was protected with a hidden layer of haint blue (possibly in addition to the indoor wall paint that also appears to be blue), which wards off nasty critters. And with that ward literally broken, and Huggin' Molly being known in her real-world mythology to go after folks late at night, well... (Bonus fun fact: Secret Worlders may also be amused that the time on the clock in the first screenshot of this post is 10:10, as with Kingsmouth's clocks. Probably specifically 10:10 pm, not a storm-dark morning.)
And finally, a particular someone who seems to have deeper secrets:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I linked the story trailer earlier, but the second screenshot is from the half-hour-long documentary.) The subtitles tell us this man is Laurent, and I'm curious about how significant his ear and nose piercings might be, given that he otherwise seems to be giving off airs of "responsible adult" (which typically does not permit such things). I have no idea who he is, exactly...yet his clothing choice and sense of decor are reminiscent of another design, which has shown up in the trailers and some promo/concept art that's been shared by the devs... But I'll let you dig up that connection on your own, if you're inclined to hunt down a bigger story spoiler.

hellooo, i don't know if you do requests but ive been REALLY wanting to see this fiction come to life:
frat boy suna x nerd reader. they meet at a frat party when reader joins the blunt rotation going on. as things progress, suna enexpectedly gets the best sex he's ever had after being ridden on by the reader for the first time.
me oh my, this idea has me foaming at the mouth, thank you for the request ;3
Dom!reader x Sub! Suna
CW: p in v sex, unprotected sex, smoking and alcohol, degrading (slut is used a lot), cream pie, nudes?? (reader takes a pic of suna at the end)
The bass thumped through the air, mingling with the buzz of voices and laughter. Amidst the lively crowd, you stood slightly out of place, clutching your drink and feeling a bit overwhelmed by the pulsating energy around you. As a dedicated nerd and bookworm, social gatherings like this were definitely outside your comfort zone.
You watched from a distance as a group of slightly familiar college kids passed around a joint, their laughter echoing over the music. One of your many tipsy friends giggled noticing your stare. Firmly gripping your wrist as a smile tugged at her lips, “You want a hit?” She asked playfully, forcing to two of you to the small group gathered by the sofa.
“Heyyy, do you guys mind if we join?” She asked without a hint of nervousness, while you stood there, rather awkwardly.
One of the well known Miya twins immediately began flirting with your friend making you scoff. Looking at the sea of faces, one of the guys, with a mop of dark hair who you could have sworn was on the volleyball team caught your eye.
"Come on, [Name], loosen up and take a puff!" your friend encouraged, nudging you forward. Taking the half-smoked roll into your hand and feeling its warmth, you gently pressed it to your lips and sucked in.
After inhaling deeply, you briefly shut your eyes to savor the drugs effects before reopening them to meet those familiar yellow ones through your lengthy lashes. After passing the joint to the random person next to you, Suna spoke up in his usual monotone voice.
"I haven't seen you around before. You new here?" His eyes held a hint of curiosity as he glanced at you. You shook your head,
"Nah, I'm just don’t see the fun in parties," you replied, a smile forming on your lips, but it's not the usual grin Suna witnesses on the faces of the girls he typically charms. It's the type of smile he recognizes on the court, one that spells trouble.
"I'm Suna. And who might you be, baby?" he introduced himself, switching to his typical flirty voice - the one he reserves for girls. It's a tone that never fails to drive them wild and have them begging for him to fuck them in a matter of seconds.
But you, you couldn’t help rolling your eyes at his rather forward question, tipping your head back to finish off your drink before wandering off, hopefully to find something better to do.
You glanced over to see your friend practically making out with Osamu, already feeling ready to head home since you had plenty of homework to finish. As you put on your jacket and headed towards the door, you suddenly came face to face with the familiar dark-haired boy.
"Ready to leave, baby?" he asked, his well-built figure leaning towards you. You couldn't help but let out a laugh, a faint blush appearing on his handsome face.
"Why would I ever let you near me with that over used, excuse for a dick? I have no interest in dirty, worthless sluts like you."
"What did you just call me?" However, his reply lacked any form of retaliation. In fact, he sounded rather turned on.
You flash that menacing smile once more, leaning in closer so he could catch a whiff of your strawberry perfume. Slowly and deliberately, you repeat your words to him,
"Dirty. Worthless. Slut."
You tried to blame it on the weed, you really did, but you knew one hit couldn't have caused this. You found yourself sitting on his meaty thighs, his sweaty palms gripping your waist tightly.
Your lips crashed against his, his tongue exploring your mouth eagerly. Breaking away for a moment, he panted heavily while you smirked down at him.
"You're such a slut, Rin. Are you really going to hook up with someone you just met?" You scolded seductively. The heat in the room seemed to swell, making the atmosphere even more charged.
Despite your harsh words, Suna's body reacted to your degradation, thrusting up for more friction. He had been with countless women before, he watched squirm on his cock, and it bored him. He wanted something more, you were a challenge he couldn't resist.
You laughed at his pitiful state as he whispered, "I want to fuck you so badly." He couldn’t resist the embarrassment, hiding in the crook of your neck, his breath sending shivers down your spine.
"Maybe I'll let inside me if you're lucky," you teased, feeling his cock throb against you in response. But he wasn't about to give in so easily.
"Your the one who wanted to sit on top of me!" he argued, pulling away to meet your intense gaze. His brash words causing you to clench around nothing.
"Shut up, slut. Good boys don't speak unless I say so, got it?"
Your hands moved to his belt, unbuckling it and unzipping his baggy jeans. You could feel Suna's hips twitch as your hand brushed over his hard erection through his boxer briefs. He knew he must look pathetic, his cock eager and leaking precum, but he was finally turned on for the first time in awhile, and at the mere words you spoke.
Without even bothering to remove your skirt, you pushed your soaking wet panties to the side, ready to take his aching member inside you.
"Wait," he stammered, looking up at your half-lidded, seductive gaze that intensified his desire. "Don't we need..."
Instead of allowing him to finish, you lowered yourself onto his throbbing shaft, causing him to throw his head back with a moan. You attempted to laugh, but it emerged mostly as heavy pants of pleasure.
"Hmm. I don’t know you would worry about that sort of thing, I’m on birth control." you reassured him, though it diminished him slightly. Despite this, he couldn't help but thrust into you eagerly.
You mocked his helpless state, lifting your hips before swiftly driving them back down, fully engulfing him inside you.
"Aww, my little slut, you're getting excited, aren't you?" you taunted, maintaining your aggressive rhythm, which left his knuckles white and the tops of his ears red. He had never imagined his body would respond so intensely to something so humiliating. Yet here he was, already on the brink of climax.
"Y-yours?" he questioned at the possessive nickname, struggling to hold back his pitiful whines.
"That really does turn you on. I can feel you pulsing inside me," you replied, feeling his cock brushing against your tight walls, eliciting moans from both of you.
You placed your hands on his shoulders firmly, gaining more leverage to bounce up and down rapidly.
His face displayed intense pleasure, with half-lidded eyes, an open mouth filled with drool, staring up at you desperately.
Suna's heart raced so fast that he felt lightheaded. His back arched off the bed as waves of pleasure continued to crash over him.
"Let me come inside you, please. I-I want to fill you up," he desperately begged, his voice cracking with shameless desire.
"Alright, whore, I'll spoil you today, but don't get used to it," you coo’d, coaxing his orgasm out with steady, harsh thrusts that had him moaning loudly, oblivious to the people in the next dorm trying to sleep. He was too far gone to care, the sensation of filling you up while being degraded overwhelming him. Tears threatened to fall from his lashes as he whimpered even more.
You, too, felt the coil of pleasure unwind as you rode his trembling cock, releasing sharp grunts atop him.
You let him stay inside you as he recovered from the intense pleasure that overwhelmed him. Quickly you reached for his phone on the bedside table while his eyes remained closed, unaware of your actions. But the flash of his camera made those pretty eyes snap open in surprise as you captured a breathtaking photo of the scene before you.
“Send that to me, kay?”
Maybe parties weren't so bad after all, especially when they ended like this.

WHEREIN: taehyun realizes your opposing personalities might just complement each other in unexpected ways

SEUL SPEAKS! this isnt part of the plot but i just have to say that taehyun is so literature major-coded
° ⊹.📜` read the whole collection here!
Tumblr media
you’ve always been the life of the party. vibrant, extroverted, and spontaneous, you thrive in social settings, drawing energy from the people around you. on the other hand, taehyun was the polar opposite. quiet, reserved, and contemplative, he preferred the comfort of a good book and the serenity of his own thoughts.
it was a mystery to your friends how the two of you ended up together, but to you, it made perfect sense. there was something comforting about the way taehyun grounded you, bringing a sense of calm and stability to your otherwise chaotic world.
it all started during your college years. you were at a friend’s party, laughing and chatting animatedly with a group of people when you first noticed him. taehyun was standing in the corner, nursing a drink and observing the room with a detached sort of interest. intrigued, you made your way over to him, determined to break through his quiet demeanor.
“hey,” you greeted with a warm smile. “i’m y/n. enjoying the party?”
taehyun glanced at you, his eyes flickering with a hint of curiosity. “it’s alright,” he replied, his voice soft but clear. “i’m taehyun.”
“what are you doing over here all by yourself?” you asked, leaning against the wall beside him.
he shrugged, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “just people-watching. it’s interesting.”
you laughed, the sound light and musical. “well, you’re missing out on all the fun. come on, join us.”
taehyun hesitated for a moment, but something in your eyes convinced him to follow you. you led him to your group of friends, introducing him with enthusiasm. despite his initial reservations, taehyun found himself enjoying the lively conversation and your infectious energy.
from that night on, a delightful friendship blossomed between you two. you would drag taehyun to social gatherings, coaxing him out of his shell, while he introduced you to quiet coffee shops and libraries, offering you a glimpse into his world of introspection and tranquility.
───────── ౨ৎ ─────────
one of your favorite outings with taehyun was a visit to a local bookstore that had become somewhat of a sanctuary for the both of you. nestled in a quaint corner of the city, the bookstore was an oasis of tranquility amidst the bustling urban landscape. the faint scent of old books mixed with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee from the attached café created an atmosphere that was both inviting and comforting.
as you walked through the door, the bell above it chimed softly, announcing your arrival. you smiled at the familiar sight of tall wooden shelves filled with books of all genres, the muted lighting casting a warm glow over the cozy space. taehyun, with his usual calm demeanor, seemed perfectly at ease, his eyes already scanning the shelves for hidden treasures.
you spent hours together, browsing through the vast collection, discussing your favorite authors and recommending books to each other. taehyun had a knack for finding the most intriguing titles, often pointing out books you might have otherwise overlooked.
“have you read this one?” taehyun asked, holding up a well-worn copy of a classic novel. the cover was slightly faded, the pages yellowed with age, but it was clear that the book had been well-loved.
you took the book from him, flipping through the pages with interest. “no, but it looks interesting,” you replied. “i’ll have to check it out.”
taehyun’s eyes sparkled with delight at your response. “i think you’ll like it. the writing is beautiful. the author has this way of capturing emotions that’s really captivating.”
you smiled, touched by his enthusiasm. “i can’t wait then. you always have the best recommendations.”
as you continued to explore the bookstore, you found yourself drawn to a section filled with poetry books. taehyun noticed your interest and pulled a slim volume from the shelf, handing it to you with a gentle smile.
“this one’s a favorite of mine,” he said softly. “the poems are simple, but they have a depth to them that’s really moving.”
you opened the book and began to read, the words flowing off the page like a melody. it was clear why taehyun cherished it so much.
taehyun picked up a novel he had wanted to read, while you began to delve into the poetry book he had recommended. the quiet rustle of pages turning and the occasional soft sigh of contentment were the only sounds that filled the air.
these quiet moments with taehyun became a cherished part of your life, bringing a sense of calm and balance to your otherwise hectic existence. his presence was soothing, a steady anchor that grounded you. you found yourself looking forward to these peaceful interludes, the times when it was just the two of you, lost in the world of books and each other’s company.
───────── ౨ৎ ─────────
months turned into years, and your friendship deepened. you found yourself falling for taehyun’s quiet charm. he had a way of making you feel seen and heard in a way no one else ever had. and unbeknownst to you, taehyun had also developed feelings for you, drawn to your vivacity and warmth like a moth to a flame.
one evening, you found yourself at taehyun’s apartment, a cozy space filled with books and plants. you were sprawled on his couch, flipping through a magazine, while taehyun was seated at his desk, typing away on his laptop. the comfortable silence between you was a testament to the deep understanding and respect you had for each other’s space.
“hey, taehyun?” you called out, breaking the silence.
he looked up from his laptop, raising an eyebrow in a silent question.
“do you ever wonder how we became friends? i mean, we’re so different,” you mused, twirling a strand of hair around your finger.
taehyun leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face. “i think that’s why it works. we balance each other out.”
you smiled, feeling a warm flutter in your chest. “yeah, i guess you’re right. it’s just… sometimes i wonder if you ever get tired of me dragging you to all these social events.”
taehyun’s eyes softened as he regarded you. “i don’t mind. i actually like seeing you in your element. it’s… refreshing.”
your heart skipped a beat at his words. taehyun rarely expressed his feelings so openly, and when he did, it always caught you off guard.
“thanks, tyun. that means a lot to me,” you said softly.
the evening wore on, and as the clock struck midnight, you decided it was time to head home. taehyun insisted on walking you to your car, a habit he had picked up over the years.
as you reached your car, you turned to face him, feeling a sudden rush of emotion. “taehyun, i—”
before you could finish your sentence, taehyun took a step closer, his gaze intense. “y/n, there’s something i need to tell you.”
your breath hitched as he continued, his voice steady but tinged with vulnerability. “i’ve been wanting to say this for a while, but i wasn’t sure how. i like you, more than a friend.”
your heart pounded in your chest as his words sank in. “taehyun, i… i like you too.”
a look of relief washed over his face, and without another word, he closed the distance between you, his lips capturing yours in a soft, tentative kiss. your arms instinctively wrapped around his neck as you melted into the kiss, savoring the warmth and tenderness of the moment.
the kiss was gentle at first, an exploration of newfound feelings. taehyun’s hands rested on your waist, his touch light as if he were afraid you might disappear. you could feel the hesitancy in his movements, a cautiousness born from the fear of crossing an invisible line. you responded with equal tenderness, letting him know through the press of your lips that this was something you both wanted.
as the initial surprise faded, the kiss deepened. taehyun’s grip on your waist tightened, pulling you closer against him. your fingers tangled in his hair, the softness of it sending shivers down your spine. the world around you seemed to blur, leaving only the two of you in a bubble of shared emotions.
when you finally pulled away for breath, your foreheads rested against each other. taehyun’s eyes were still closed, his breath coming in soft pants. you could feel the rapid beat of his heart against your own chest, a mirror of your own racing pulse.
“wow,” you whispered, a slight smile tugging at your lips. “that was...”
“incredible,” taehyun finished for you, opening his eyes to meet yours. there was a sparkle in his gaze, a mixture of relief and joy that made your heart swell.
you both laughed softly, the sound filled with a mix of nerves and happiness. the tension that had been building between you for months seemed to dissipate, replaced by a new sense of intimacy and connection.
the two of you stood there momentarily, wrapped in each other’s arms. the night air was cool against your skin, but the warmth from taehyun’s body kept you anchored in the moment. it was a perfect blend of the serene and the exhilarating.

CLICK TO GET ★ SCOOP ON POP DIVA. “ BADGYALRIRI” ERAS.
YEAR 1990 — MUSIC OF THE SUN Era
Tumblr media
At just 17, she burst onto the scene with her debut album Music of the Sun, embodying raw youthful energy and street-smart attitude. Her image was rooted in hood girl aesthetics—oversized jerseys, baggy jeans, and gold chains—yet tinged with innocence and a desire to be seen. Bright yellow and pink outfits became her signature colors, symbolizing her vibrant personality and youthful optimism. During this period, she was entangled in a toxic relationship with her 35-year-old manager, who kept her under strict control, limiting her creative freedom and personal growth. She was often pictured under his watchful eye, making her feel trapped but also fueling her rebellious spirit. Her music was a blend of dancehall, hip-hop, and R&B, reflecting her southern roots and street influences. Though her career was just starting, she was already a rising star with a fierce attitude, determined to carve her own path amid the chaos of her personal life.
YEAR 1992 — RATED R Era
Tumblr media
By 19, she had finally escaped her controlling manager and the toxic relationship that once defined her career. This turning point was marked by a dramatic transformation—she shaved her head into a bold pixie cut mow-hawk, symbolizing her break from her past and her desire to reinvent herself. Her look was edgy, rebellious, and unapologetically bold, earning her the nickname *BADGYALRIRI*. She began frequenting nightclubs, embracing the nightlife scene, and hanging out with influential figures like Junior M.A.F.I.A., Lil’ Kim, and Biggie Smalls. Her style evolved into a mix of gritty streetwear and high-fashion street couture—oversized hoodies, leather jackets, chunky sneakers, and gold accessories. This era was about defying expectations, challenging gender norms, and establishing herself as a serious force in the industry. Her music became more provocative and confident, reflecting her newfound independence and attitude.
YEAR 1993 — LOUD Era
Tumblr media
In her third year, she underwent a striking transformation—dyed her hair a fiery red, symbolizing her fiery spirit and passion. Her music took on a new, whimsical tone, with playful melodies and lyrics that showcased her versatility. She embraced a girl-next-door charm, blending innocence with a hint of mischief, which resonated with fans who appreciated her multifaceted persona. Her fashion was more colorful and fun—pastel-colored crop tops, flared jeans, platform shoes, and playful accessories—showing her softer side. The *Loud* era was characterized by her ability to balance her rebellious edge with genuine vulnerability, making her relatable and beloved. She became a symbol of empowerment for young women who wanted to break free from stereotypes while still embracing their femininity. Her performances radiated joy and energy, solidifying her place as a charismatic star who could do it all.
YEAR 1994 — UNAPOLOGETIC Era
Tumblr media
The innocence of her *Loud* days faded as she re-embraced her *BADGYALRIRI* persona with full force. Now at 21, her music and attitude became more aggressive and raw, reflecting her tumultuous personal life. Her relationship with Tupac Shakur made headlines—publicized and intense—adding to her reputation as a rebellious, untouchable figure. She was involved in nightclub fights, rap beefs, and headline-grabbing drama, all while topping charts with her bold singles. Her fashion became more daring—cut-out dresses, leather ensembles, and statement accessories that screamed defiance. She was unapologetically herself—loud, fierce, and unrelenting. This era was about asserting her independence, embracing her dark side, and showing the world that she was a force to be reckoned with. Her lyrics reflected her struggles and triumphs, inspiring a generation of fans who saw her as a symbol of resilience and realness.
YEAR 1995 — ANTI Era
Tumblr media
Still riding high as *BADGYALRIRI*, she launched her *Anti* album, which solidified her status as a chart-topping superstar and cultural icon. Her attitude was more refined but still fiercely rebellious—she had matured but refused to tone down her edge. Her music was anthems of independence, empowerment, and defiance, resonating with a global audience. Her fashion became more polished yet still street-inspired—sleek bodysuits, designer sneakers, and bold jewelry—showing her evolution as an artist and icon. She used her platform to challenge industry norms and societal expectations, becoming a voice for the marginalized and misunderstood. Her performances exuded confidence and authority, and her influence extended beyond music into fashion, culture, and activism. The *Anti* era marked her as an unstoppable force, unbreakable and unapologetic, cementing her legacy as one of the most influential artists of her generation and was on record her last album ever.

Twister
Wade thinks playing Twister would help with the sexual tension between you and Logan.
worst wolverine/logan x fem!reader - sexual tension, twister the game, vanessa cameo, funny, cute, fluff, wade being wade, no y/n used, no reader description
read on Ao3
“Why did I agree to this?” Logan muttered, narrowing his eyes as Vanessa held up the Twister box with a mischievous grin.
Wade clapped a hand on Logan’s shoulder. “Because, peanut, you said you wanted to have fun tonight.”
“Your definition of ‘fun’ needs a serious overhaul,” Logan grumbled, crossing his arms, though his gaze flickered over to you, a trace of a smirk tugging at his mouth when he saw you struggling not to laugh.
“C’mon, it’s just Twister,” you said, trying to keep a straight face.
“ Just Twister?” Wade scoffed, waving a finger in the air like he was about to launch into a TED Talk. “That’s like calling Monopoly ‘just a board game.’ Twister is a sport. It requires—no, demands —serious commitment. Strategy. Flexibility.”
“Wade,” Vanessa cut in, dryly, “stop pretending you didn’t pull this game out just so you’d have an excuse to ‘accidentally’ grind against us.”
Wade placed a hand over his heart, pretending to look wounded. “I am shocked. Shocked that you’d accuse me of something so—” he paused, then shrugged, “accurate. But I’m also doing Logan a favor.” He shot Logan a knowing look, eyebrows raised. “I mean, look at you two. Tell me this isn’t the ultimate icebreaker?”
You felt your cheeks warm as Logan’s gaze shifted to you, his usual cool confidence faltering for just a second. He grunted, shrugging. “Fine. But if Wade ends up on top of me, I’m out.”
“Noted,” Wade replied with a wink. He spun the wheel. “Alright! Left hand, blue.”
You went first, reaching down to place your hand on the blue dot, Logan following with a half-hearted sigh. The space was small, forcing him close enough that you could practically feel the warmth radiating off him.
“Left foot, green!” Wade called, his eyes alight with excitement as he watched you both maneuver, the proximity getting tighter with every move.
Logan grunted, moving into position just inches from you. His hand brushed against yours briefly, sending a jolt through you that had you biting your lip. He caught the movement, a flicker of amusement sparking in his eyes as he leaned just close enough to murmur, “Nervous?”
You shot him a playful glare. “Not even a little.”
“Right foot, red!” Wade practically shouted, stifling a laugh.
As you twisted to reach for the red dot, your balance wavered, causing you to press against Logan’s side. He steadied you with a hand at your waist, his fingers lingering for a second longer than necessary. The contact sent a shiver up your spine, and you glanced up to find his gaze already on you, a hint of challenge in his eyes.
“Something wrong?” he asked, voice low.
You smirked, trying to mask the way your pulse raced. “Just worried you’ll lose your balance, old man.”
Logan’s mouth quirked into a half-smile. “Better worry about yourself, sweetheart.”
“Next up—left hand, yellow!” Wade announced, practically bouncing with excitement.
As you twisted awkwardly to reach the next spot, you found yourself nearly chest-to-chest with Logan, his face mere inches from yours. The tension crackled in the tiny space between you, and for a moment, you forgot Wade and Vanessa were even there.
Wade let out a dramatic sigh, breaking the spell. “Well, well, well… seems like Twister’s working its magic,” he sing-songed, shooting Vanessa a wink.
Logan’s gaze flickered to Wade, a hint of annoyance flashing across his face. “You really thought you were subtle, huh?”
Wade shrugged, unbothered. “Hey, I’m just the referee, keeping everyone honest. Now, Logan, I think your left hand was slipping there... might want to hold onto something.”
Logan’s lips curved in a smirk as he looked back at you, his hand tightening just a fraction at your waist. “Guess I should take Wade’s advice,” he murmured, voice low, his gaze lingering on yours for a moment that felt way longer than it should have.
Your breath hitched, and you tried to keep the playful tone in your voice, though your heart was pounding. “Wouldn’t want you to lose your balance now.”
With that, Wade grinned, spinning the wheel once more, but the game had taken a backseat to the electric tension sparking between you and Logan, something neither of you was sure you could ignore much longer.

You had been dating Gojo for quite some time now, and it was heartwarming to see him step into his role as a father.
Megumi, his precious six-year-old adoptive son, had been bursting with excitement about Halloween for weeks.
After brainstorming costume ideas together, Megumi insisted he wanted to dress as Pikachu, and you both couldn’t resist his adorable enthusiasm.
Gojo and you decided to dress as Pokémon trainers to match him, thrilled to create a fun experience for Megumi and his two best friends, Nobara and Yuji, who would be joining you for the evening.
“Ready, Pikachu?” You called, looking over to your right. Megumi, wearing his Pikachu onesie and a plush tail flopping behind him, nodded vigorously, his excitement barely contained.
“Pika!” He squeaked, bouncing on his feet.
“Let’s go catch ’em all!” Gojo chimed in, his voice laced with that signature playful energy.
He stood tall beside you, dressed similarly in a Pokémon trainer outfit, complete with a red and white cap that made him look both adorable and rugged. His azure eyes sparkled with mischief as he adjusted his jacket, revealing just a hint of his toned arms.
“Are you two ready?” Yuji exclaimed, bouncing on his heels in his Bulbasaur costume, while Nobara, decked out in an Eevee onesie, rolled her eyes playfully.
“I just want candy already,” she said, crossing her arms.
“Aw, but we have to catch our Pokémon first!” Gojo teased, leaning down to ruffle Megumi’s hair, which was a fluffy mess of black locks peeking out from under the yellow hood. “Who knows what rare Pokémon we might find tonight?”
With a bright laugh, you turned the corner, leading the small group down the tree-lined street.
The houses were adorned with glowing jack-o’-lanterns and spooky decorations, creating a festive atmosphere that made the night feel magical.
As you approached the first house, Gojo leaned closer to you, whispering conspiratorially, “You know, I’ve always thought that if I could be any Pokémon, I’d be the one with the best moves.”
You turned to him, raising an eyebrow. “Oh really? And what would that be?”
With a grin that could only be described as devilish, he leaned down to whisper into your ear, “The one that really knows how to please… the ladies.”
You stifled a giggle, aware that Megumi and the others were too busy marvelling at the giant spider decorations to hear.
“That’s enough, Satoru…” You teased through your grin.
He chuckled softly in response, his eyes sparkling as his gaze returned to the kids.
Megumi and Yuji were animatedly discussing the giant decorative spider with Nobara, who was beaming in her cute Eevee outfit.
The sight of them, with their pumpkin shaped candy bags clutched tightly in their little hands and their laughter ringing out, warmed your heart.
Gojo leaned down slightly, his enthusiasm evident as he exclaimed, “Look at them! I can’t believe how cute they are! This is what Halloween is all about!”
His voice was filled with genuine excitement, his typical bravado replaced with a softer, almost fatherly affection as he watched the trio.
As they approached the first house, you could see Megumi leading the charge, his confidence growing with every step.
He was so proud in his Pikachu tail, ready to collect the first of many treats.
You exchanged a glance with Gojo, who smiled back at you, both of you sharing a moment of joy over the happiness of the kids.
“Trick or treat!” They chorused as they reached the door, bags held out expectantly.
The door swung open, and the homeowner beamed at the adorable sight before them.
“Oh wow, what fantastic costumes! Here you go!” They dropped handfuls of candy into the kids’ bags, their smiles wide as they watched the tiny trainers beam with excitement.
Gojo crouched down, letting Megumi and his friends dive into their candy bags. “Alright, who’s ready for a candy taste test? I’ll bet I can guess which ones are the sour ones just by looking at your faces!”
“Not a chance!” Yuji challenged, popping a gummy worm into his mouth and grimacing dramatically.
“Just wait until I catch you in my Poké Ball,” Gojo teased, his tone light and playful. “Then we’ll see who’s really on the menu.”
You chuckled, shaking your head at his audacity. “You’re terrible,” you said, giving him a playful shove.
As the night went on, laughter echoed in the crisp air, and the streets filled with excited shouts of “Trick or treat!” Megumi led the charge, his tiny Pikachu tail swaying with every enthusiastic step.
At one particularly decorated house, a creepy sound machine blared to life, and Nobara squealed, jumping closer to Yuji, who laughed and playfully pushed her away.
Gojo, always one to lighten the mood, casually said, “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you from the scary noises… and any wild Pokémon lurking around.”
You watched, heart full, as Gojo interacted with the kids, his teasing demeanour bringing joy to everyone around him.
“Just remember,” he added with a wink, “if any Pokémon try to jump you, I can give you guys one of my Ultra Balls. They’re great for scaring off unwanted attention, but I’m not sure if Pokemon can even use Pokeballs…Y/n definitely knows how to use my balls though!”
“Gojo!” You exclaimed, laughter bubbling up as you realized he was slipping another cheeky joke in that would fly over the kids’ heads.
Eventually, as you made your way back home with bags full of treats and memories, Megumi stopped in his tracks and turned back towards you and Gojo, his voice ringing out, “This was the best-est Halloween ever! Thanks, Dad!”
Gojo’s heart swelled at the words, and he knelt down to Megumi's level, beaming with pride.
“You were the cutest Pikachu out there! I’d say you’re a Pokémon master now,” he said, ruffling Megumi’s hair affectionately.
You watched the two of them, your heart melting at the bond they shared.
“You really did amazing tonight, Megumi,” you added, stepping closer and giving him a playful poke in the side. “I think you collected more candy than anyone else!”
“Yeah, obviously!” He exclaimed, puffing out his chest proudly. “And next year, I’m going to dress as Charizard!”
“Charizard, huh? I can’t wait to see that!” Gojo laughed, his voice full of warmth. “But remember, you’ve got to practice your flying moves. I’ll help you!”
Megumi let out a small giggle before running ahead to walk alongside Nobara and Yuji, resuming their discussion on which Pokemon they should dress up as next year.
You and Gojo walked closely together, your fingers brushing against each other, the evening’s warmth wrapping around you like a cozy blanket.
“So y/n… was that the best-est Halloween ever?” Gojo asked, glancing down at you with a soft smile, his usual cocky demeanour giving way to a moment of genuine sweetness.
“Definitely,” you replied, leaning into him as you both watched the kids chatter excitedly about their favourite candies.
“Though I think you might have enjoyed it a little more than them.”
“Can you blame me? With such cute trainers by my side, how could I resist?” He smirked, leaning in closer, planting a sweet kiss on your cheek.
The night glimmered with the promise of many more adventures together, each one more magical than the last.
And as you glanced at Megumi’s smiling face, you knew this was just the beginning of many happy memories.
