magical girls, generally, have something they fight against. this holds true in hms mg:ljga!.

heart, mind and soul fight 'Shadows', abstracted manifestations of consciousness and circumstance that have a tendency to mirror (or 'shadow') their individual and group situations. they often carry repetitive motifs or themes, functioning as tangible metaphors that must be 'resolved', much like any conflict.

the way in which a shadow is resolved varies. itd be wrong to say that there is ever one true or 'correct' resolution. rather, its a matter of what the group (or the individual,) sees as a proper ending to the matter. often, they default to violence.

it works well (or well enough...) for most shadows, as far as they can tell. its certainly easier than trying to talk it out...

Deciding that enough is enough she summons her rapier and joins the battle.

I also learned that those wooden things are coffins, not chests. I imagine at some point the Destined One and his Travel Companion had to squeeze into a coffin to get across a big body of water or whatever. Tight fit but at least take got some power naps in.

odile The Library Goer and Non-Fiction Reader deigns no explanation and would prolly be very good at humanities. isabeau, similarly, is crazy smart (even if he contorts himself backwards in his attempts to conceal it) and would destroy any logic-related questions. and siffrin is both a theatre nerd and very well-traveled - i bet there's enough space in that island-related memory-curse-addled head of theirs to fit a lot of culture facts and he can wrangle art-related questions, as long as he doesn't directly think about them too much

why bobby? Robin -> Rob -> Robert -> Bob -> Bobby

this confuses. so. many. people. who do not know the origin behind the nickname. It's the same kind of bizarre, seemingly unconnected nickname that Bruce has, where Danny calls him "Buzz."

i think childe likes to be mothered in a very concerning way. he'll want to be the man of the house while you stay at home and keep everything nice and clean and tidy and warm. he'll want to have you see him off and greet him with warm, open arms when he gets home, holding him in your embrace as he "accidentally" shoves his face into your cleavage. he'll want to have meals at the dinner table where he discusses his day and how hard it was, how happy he is to have someone like you to look after him. i can see him being pretty obsessive with you, monitoring your every interaction because why are you paying attention to someone that's not him? smiling at someone else instead of him? again? he's warned you time and time again about this, now he's got to get his hands dirty once again, but that's okay. he knows that even when he arrives home covered in blood you'll welcome him with that sweet, sweet smile, and tell him everything's going to be okay.
