City Without Walls

“He who has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down and without walls.” Proverbs 25:28AMPC

Twenty short words in our text containing miles of facts, wisdom, insight, and life. Everyone has seen over the past four years what can happen to a people living in a land “without walls.” Multiplied millions have entered illegally, murdering, raping, stealing whatever-whenever, devastation has been great.

What about in our personal lives? We all need self-control to rule our appetites for food, sex, drugs, alcohol, impulses, anger, and every form of lust. Each of us can write here the name of a person who has allowed drugs or alcohol to consume them. They have no guard against the evil coming upon them as they indulge over and over again.

At times there are demons involved with cravings. Such was what I went through with cigarettes. My addiction was so strong mentally, there was no logic, reason or recourse— until in prayer Holy Spirit showed me I had a demon of rebellion attached to me. Game-changer! I commanded the demon to leave in the name of Jesus Christ, becoming instantly free from cigarettes. To this day, if I’m thinking thoughts of rebellion, a thought about a cigarette comes to mind, giving away where the thought came from. From my own experience, I dare say 99.9% of alcohol, and drug addictions have demons associated with the cravings.

Scripture gives us an antidote “And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Galatians 5:24ESV. Crucifying our flesh isn’t easy, especially when every fiber is screaming out I want! Yet I’ve heard many say, ‘a dead man has no wants.’ If something is still yelling, it’s either not dead, or has a demonic life behind it.

A young man I know decided that he had an unhealthy appetite for food. He said, when he was full, he would eat more because he enjoyed the taste entirely too much. In order to conquer this, he would go on three day fasts of water only. (Being pre-diabetic this is too hard-core for my body.) In the meantime this young man lost 50 pounds of loose weight while picking up muscle mass in working out. His greatest gain was self-discipline and a closer walk with the Lord through prayer and Bible study.

Is there something in your life which needs to be crucified? Do you feel like a city without walls? God has an answer and a discipline for every place we are out of control. Give Him the opportunity to help you. It’s your choice. You choose.

LET’S PRAY: LORD God each of us has broken places in the wall of our lives. Help us to seek You until we get the right answer, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

I think Kim's psychological problems are so compelling to me because he doesn't even realize he has them. Like, I think Kim is extremely self aware in a lot of ways, knows where his failings are and what his insecurities are and what upsets him. I don't think he thinks of himself as perfect. But he does think of himself as normal. Healthy. He's too repressed to realize he's repressed, yknow? He tells Harry he doesn't talk to himself, he writes his thoughts down, not recognizing that that is a conversation with himself. He tells Harry it's better to focus on work, don't let yourself be weighed down by petty things like emotion, push that aside, and thinks that's absolutely the healthiest and best way to deal with difficult feelings. He knows that the RCM can be corrupt and that there are officers who intentionally abuse their power but still wholeheartedly believes in the institution -- and refused to recognize any cognitive dissonance there. I think this is a man who definitely intellectualizes his own brain and emotions, and when he can't do that, he ignores them. And then he calls that normal. Kim Kitsuragi the man that you are

The Vampire Aesthetic

Ok so Danny knows two billionaires personally and they really couldn’t be more different. Yet they had one thing in common. A vampire aesthetic. Sam is fully into goth. Spiderwebs, bats, the color black. She enjoys fangs and fake blood and the darkness of her soul. Meanwhile, Vlad is Vlad. If his name wasn’t enough, the dark clothing, pale skin, and flying around with a cape and fangs with coffins in his mansion really sells it.

Danny doesn’t know many rich people so he thinks this might be some kind of trend. (If Paulina is rich, her family likes the chupacabra) So he just thinks that all rich people have some kind of vampire thing going on.

Cue Danny somehow ending in the Wayne household. Maybe he was brought over as a friend of one of the bats, maybe rescued from a field trip/vacation gone wrong, maybe some other situation. But he is there in civilian form with civilian Waynes and Danny just takes a good long look around the inside of the mansion.

“So where’s the vampire aesthetic?

Everyone freezes.

Danny just starts looking around, checking behind paintings and feeling the walls for secret levers. Used to secret passages with Vlad and possibly Sam. The Fentons definitely had them when they were temporarily rich.

“Come on, I know you guys are hiding it.”

Cue the entire batfamily thinking that this is another Tim and that he is fully aware that these people are the batfamily. Danny hangs around the mansion more and the bats just start dropping their disguises and not even bothering to hide stuff around Danny because they assume he already knows. (Possibly even trying to recruit him to be a new bat) Meanwhile, Danny, who does not know these people are batman and his birds, just does not pick up on any of it.

He grew up in a health violation with a giant ballon observatory lab above his head and a portal to the afterlife in his basement. He is a half dead teenager who has tea with the god of time and his godfather is the other parent to his clone child. He’s used to death lazers being scattered across his home and mysterious stains on clothing.

People are weird! He doesn’t judge!

like i know of course the games industry is fucked and EA will continue to make money with impunity but i just. continue to wonder how the fuck they operate as a business if they keep getting caught setting people up to fail on purpose. from a logistical standpoint, do you not want to make money on every product you develop so it’s not a “waste of resources”? do you not understand market research and what appeals to consumers?

like we keep hearing about how they wanted to turn the franchise into something else and the fact that it “”failed to meet expectations”” because they couldn’t adequately course-correct, but i am so baffled how those expectations got set in the first place. how are you a video game company who doesn’t understand the concept of a target audience. why do you keep trying to broaden your appeal when time and again it’s proven that just alienates the people you already had. someone who plays overwatch is never going to come to dragon age for the same thing. the devs who work on it are never going to be able to make something comparable because it’s not the kind of thing they’re used to doing. like who let them think this was a reasonable thing to expect would just. happen

something i noticed is that whenever crowley and aziraphale do have physical touch it’s always ( ? ) aziraphale initiating it . it’s aziraphale who occasionally puts his hand on crowley’s chest , arm , back , whatever to guide him . it’s aziraphale resting his hand on crowley’s arm to tell him something . it’s aziraphale took crowley’s hand to dance , something crowley would have never done otherwise . but the kiss . that is the first time crowley has been the one to initiate physical contact . the first time . and as far as he knows , the last .

It has been SO long since I've done CotL art, and might I say, I forgot how much I love drawing my favorite worm! I've even messed around with his design and I'm loving it!

The context of these basically boils down to the Leshylamb au idea I have where Leshy is very much not down for the whole "kill and entire species" plan his siblings have, even setting aside that the sheep in this au are a large faction of his people and he may or may not have some blossoming feelings for a certain one (╹ڡ╹ )

I've always hc'd that the bishops all represent dualities, ya know, like famine and bounty, pestilence and cure, war and peace, and chaos and order. Now, Leshy isn't the god of fate or anything like that, but his domain is definitely tied to it with how fate and prophesy are kinda the most orderly something can be. A predetermined outcome.

Leshy tries, but he can't sway his siblings to spare the sheep and to not make their inevitable demise worse, so he instead begins plotting on a way to at least mitigate the damage. What? All the sheep have fled the towns on the edge of Darkwood? How could he have known? He's been VERY busy bolstering his following in preparation for the loss of them. I think his only act of true outward defiance of their plan would be to openly not have his people join in hunting the sheep, the rest of his and his followers' actions would be much more underhanded with lots of plausible deniability.

I dunno, just a thought. I'm not great at building stories :P Still gonna fiddle with the idea tho, maybe I'll try drafting little story snippets?

see the thing that intrigues me about sentryagent is the concept that they're so wrong for each other they're right for each other but neither of them can see past the wrong. they're staring at each other with the same yearning look of "he deserves better than me" while wishing they were exactly who the other person already believes they are
