Okay I should be crying and throwing up while studying for the bar but I’ll pop in for this

When you go to court for anything, there are costs. Every submission (motions, petitions, pleas, etc.) has a cost. Even if you’re pro se (self represented) going to trial and arguing your case can get very expensive. BUT, attorneys are expensive and charge a ton of money as well. So this usually splits into “attorney’s fees and costs”.

In civil suits, the parties will often request that the winning party receive “attorneys fees and costs” in order to put the party in the same place they would be in without the expenses. But, attorney’s fees are one thing, costs are another. Attorney’s fees in this case would be the team’s hourly billable rate (I’d estimate HUNDREDS of dollars - and they bill by .6 hours so responding to an email or answering a question alone could cost a couple hundred in atty fees). Costs would be everything else. It gets expensive to conduct discovery, and the proving party (the party trying to prove the facts in the discovery or requesting it) always pays for it. Costs include filing fees, court fees, JURY TRIAL FEES, the costs to take deposition, and any party requesting discovery usually has to pay for that. Voluminous production of files/film can often cost a ton of money to produce, which may be the case here. This racks tf up as far as money that the firm (or the government) is paying in furtherance of arguing the case.

Now, for this case, I feel like the attorneys have to take their costs from the fund. Or else it’s just money out of their pocket and sets them back. The fund would likely cover most of the costs. KFA may waive her attorney’s fees because she seems to really care about the cause and it’s kinda similar to the Menendez brothers where the attorney genuinely felt that the professional benefit of taking such a big case outweighed the cost of waiving her hourly. That’s just my opinion, but I hope it sheds some light on how it breaks down!

Also, as a professional responsibility, Dickey can’t take all of the fund without express approval from Luigi and all attorneys and probably expressed to the court (signed and sealed baby). So if that was the case, it would be a deliberate decision by everyone! But I feel like most of the team is likely waiving the attorneys fees or he has a bankroller. Either way, the fund is probably helping cover court costs which is a good chunk of expenses.

Anyone feel free to correct anything! I’m not a lawyer and could be wrong about anything at anytime (I feel like I have to say that?) This is just based on my knowledge and experience working in the law :)

I totally understand that many cannot pay for a subscription, everyone’s situation is different ofc and I have zero expectations when it comes to my Patreon. I am still shocked even more than 100 people enjoy my writing enough to subscribe(and very very very grateful💓 it means so much to me and has rly given me confidence to write what I want to write without fear).

Since it’s the New Year I’ve definitely been thinking about my goals a lot!! I’d say my main one is to save up more money and be more wise with my spending, especially since it ties to another goal that I (well we hehe) have which is moving to a new apartment!! I also want to eat out less and eat more food at home/cook more! I’m also hoping to get back into running again or maybe start a new hobby!

Trips or experiences, I’m not the kind of person who goes on a lot of trips but when I do like being able to splurge or do the things I want to do, I’m not the kind of person who tries to save money on vacation, if I’m on a trip I’m going to enjoy myself 😅

so i think fosseys employment at mann co/tf industries starts on more irregular/remote terms, being that xe starts out only being called in once a week for regular computer maintenance and number readings/the like [since this IS the 60s after all], and being home the rest of the week unless theres an emergency, in which case he's on call + will come in to help out. during her free time shes a massive shut-in, spending most of their time reading, writing and drawing [and watching tv, once they scrounge up the money for one]. im a pretty big shut-in myself most of the time and over the past year or so ive become pretty aware of just how strong my social anxiety tends to be, so i want to like. reflect this in fossey since they Are still meant to represent me at least on some level. they're afraid of the prospect of being alive around other people, and after suffocating in their old family life, they don't really know How to be around people without being scared for a while. that's a big part of why they took the computer job in the first place, since it's easier to predict the reactions of a machine than those of a person

the inciting incident that marks the beginning of the end of this shut-in lifestyle is largely inspired by look back; for a bit of context here, in some supplemental materials we've seen scout submit personal ads and the like to newspapers before, and he's also shown to have a penchant for drawing, so i think it would be funny if he did little comic strips every once in a while. nothing super crazy, it would just be like how some local newspapers will publish art/comments from readers in the area, and since scout Works For Mann Co he has a bit of an edge in there. similarly, since fossey spends so much time writing + drawing i think they would probably submit some short stories to the newspaper as well. ironically enough since scout has trouble with reading so i dont think he'd actually Read their work, but he'd see their name and be like "why is that familiar wtf" until one day pauling asks him to drop off some paperwork at their apartment, at which point they have a little "oh its YOU" moment

if we're being real, because i have a shitty sense of humor, fossey would be a fan of his comics and probably tell him as much [dangerous move. inflating this mans ego is a BAD idea], which scout would hang onto for a bit because Hoooly shit i have a fan. guys did you know this. did you hear. di

after this interaction fossey submits a drawing to the local newspaper in place of a short story one week, since theyre much more because about sharing their artwork but that interaction with scout inspired them a little bit. and luckily for them, about takes notice of this change since he cant read. and he IMMEDIATELY runs back to see their apartment like "YOU DIDNT TELL ME YOU COULD DRAW. we're going to go get food now and youre gonna spill the beans on your whooole creative process". this interaction + following instances of scout dragging them out of the apartment to just hang out would eventually give fossey the courage to try and leave their apartment on their own more often, starting with just doing more work; after being assured by miss pauling that they dont need to really Talk to anyone and they can just do their paperwork alone so long as they find a good spot to do so, its totally fine for fossey to come in and do some extra work on days they otherwise wouldn't be working [OBVIOUSLY THIS LEADS TO THEM LIKE, BEING SCHEDULED MORE NOT A WORKPLACE VIOLATION THING (though i wouldnt put that past mann co tbh)]. this then turns into "well shit but i need an office though", and then later becomes the reasoning for the calikiwi meetcute [aka fossey has to ask to do their paperwork in his camper one day because their usual spot was too noisy]. in addition scouts pattern of helping them come out of their shell slowly evolves into an annoying pattern of him randomly dragging them away from work to do stupid shit if he thinks they've been holed up in their office for too long. however since he's the one they've spent the most time with by this point they are also emboldened enough to tell him to fuck off now. so it all shakes out 👍

The currency conversion is from RM (Reichsmark) to DM (Deutsche Mark) to Euros (€ <- in case you don't know the symbol 🙂‍↕️) I've done this specifically because 1) Reichsmark is obviously not in use and hasn't been since 1948 and is hard to convert where as the Deutsche Mark is what replaced it 2) the DM was replaced with the Euro on Jan 1st 1999 so is easier to convert into modern euros 3) the RM to DM is a 10:1 which I hope I haven't fucked up here because that should be easy maths LMAOOOO

Now onto the question

A Nazi Grand Admiral made € 1329.36 a year WITHOUT bribes (they were given 26,000 RM per year aka 2600 DM) they also were exempt from income tax which was very high, senior officers got a special allowance for like food and medicine (which I am making an educated guess to be also €20.45 [400RM aka 40DM] as general admirals got €100 less like they did in wartime costs), I think they also got bday money that was the equivalent of € 12782.29 (250,000 RM aka 25000 DM) that was tax free (although the interest wasn't LMFAOOOOO) , they got about € 20.45 (400 RM aka 40DM) a month for wartime costs, they got a bribe of €204.52 (4000 RM aka 400DM) on a monthly basis as well

TL;DR - 1 credit is the equivalent of 4USD ($4) and that is currently the equivalent of €3.84 (3.84 euros)

Now converted to credits should be about:

Ofc do not take this as gospel I am tired (it is 23:36pm rn) so I could be mistaken and also it's a fantasy world so you can easily make up your desired amount especially because (in my opinion) Thrawn is the best they got so he'd probably also get several bonuses a year on top of that and even if he is underpaid because he's an alien (never forget the social factors when considering money!) he'd probably get enough bonuses to make the same or more than the human grand admirals around him !

How much do you think Thrawn gets paid? (If at all?). I'm assuming as a very senior military officer he's earning a decent wage but I haven't been able to find any source anywhere that states how much officers were earning 🤔.

Unfortunately, we have no tangible numbers to work with. We don't even know how much a Credit is worth in American dollars, even if 1 dollar = 1 credit in the Disney parks for sake of simplicity.

So I can only give you the salary of an admiral of the US Navy as of 2024, which is $18,808.68 per month for 20 years of service ($225,704.16 a year)

Of course, Thrawn was not at the Empire service for 20 years, but The Emperor is not an idiot and must have accounted for all of his military years combined.

Considering the structure of the Empire, they must mollycoddle their high officers, so I am 100% convinced he has a fully furnished big apartment as official accommodation (Non-canon, I'm going with my guts here) and a personal driver/pilot and everything.

I tried to look at the salary of an admiral of Nazi Germany (as it inspired the Empire) but Google doesn't have a straightforward answer and I can't review archived German paperwork.

Do I have a real answer? No, but he surely has the cash and could live pretty lavishly, but I have in mind that he must never leave his suite in the Chimaera.
