How does one avoid making the same mistakes as one's parents? It's a question that lingers for Ariane and Urianger, from the moment they begin talking about having a child together and long after their beloved Charlotte is born. Urianger fears repeating his parents' neglect. Ariane fears repeating her mother's overprotectiveness. And as their fears collide, both are forced to confront the possibility of overcompensating for those fears. Perhaps there will be no easy answer, but to lean on one another and to do the best they can to do what's right for their daughter.

Oh hey I missed this one.

For the Haurch Lives AU (and also my first WoLKid I made) Amelie's name honestly has the least meaning, it was just a french adjacent name that I liked.

Stella, full name Stella-Crys Raha, I put a lot of thought into since she's in my canon verse. Since G'raha himself acknowledges that he doesn't really know much or interact with tribal miqo traditions, but DID live on the First for a century, Akira (with the help of some friends on the First) thought they could instead use Mystel naming conventions to honor the city he founded and cared so much for, hence the "Crys" part of her name for the Crystarium. Stella of course meaning stars and representing where that adventure ultimately took them, and Raha of course being the traditional way last names work for Miqo on the Source.

Kore and Kytos I named originally for my Stardew Valley/FFXIV crossover playthrough by just looking up names related in some way to the greek Hades and Persephone. Kore of course is another name for Persephone (meaning maiden iirc or young lady, which I felt was fitting for a girl). Kytos was shortened from Kokytos, which is the river of sorrow iirc from greek myth (I was thinking, like, babies cry, and then I decided he was a sensitive soul). I HC that Persephone had these names in mind for if she'd ever had children, and Akira sort of "remembered" that in the Hyth and Hades Stay AU and named her kids that. I only remembered the Pandaemonium boss Kokytos later. ._. But my friends in the swap discord helped me decide the headcanon is Athena stole the name because Persephone, being the friendly person she is, told her about her baby names she'd picked in passing back in the Unsundered world.

"Look, the leaves are all yellowing! I've been checking the soil and watering and feeding it just like you showed me! I don't understand! What did I do wrong?"

"Oh sweet boy, you haven't done anything wrong."

"Then why does it look like that??"

"This is just part of its lifecycle. The leaves are sending all of their nutrients to the roots to store them for the winter."

"Like a nutkin storing seeds?"

"Exactly like that. When spring comes, it will release all of that energy back into the stalks to produce a big beautiful flower, and that flower will attract pollinators, which help the plant reproduce. Then, after a few weeks, the flower will wilt, and the plant will spend the summer soaking up all the sunlight and water and food that we give it so it can grow big and strong until the cycle begins again."

"So it isn't dying?"

"No, just getting ready for a nice long nap."

"Really? I didn't know plants could take naps... What else can they do?"

"Far more than we have time to learn today. Come on, let's get washed up for lunch. These plants aren't the only ones who need to food and rest to grow…”
