wait according to my quick research the 2016 prompts i remember reading criticisms of probably weren’t actually made by the same person as the 2015 prompts. the creator of the 2015 prompts either a) deleted all their posts after december 2015 and left, for some reason or b) fell off the face of the earth immediately after posting the wpc2015 list

more proof that december is cursed and we should do cute snow-themed photoshoots in january instead

My Work In Progress for the Winter Prince Jack Frost contest!! 

I was going to bake it and paint it this morning and submit it this evening, but unfortunately last night it toppled over and fell off my desk, smushing a lot of the details. 

 I, fortunately, took a lot of progress shots, so i could at least put these out today.

This was my very first try at sculpting a figure, so I am pretty proud of it!! I took a lot of time learning how to make figures from only youtube videos so its still sloppy, but I’m hoping to get the hang of sculpting!

As of right now, I am baking and retouching the figure and waiting to paint it!

I used Super Sculpey Polymer Clay! (Please don’t mind my messy desk space!)

I started out with a ice wire armament, wrapping the core parts with aluminum foil and establishing a heavier base

Then I started shaping the head and adding eye details

After the head is finished I wrapped the torso and legs with the grey clay and started shaping the legs

Unfortunately, my sculpture’s torso was way too long because i didn’t properly measure out the size and anatomy (which was seriously the worst), but I managed to cover it up with a slightly high waisted pants.

detailing the clothes came next, which personally was my favorite part! adding small creases and smoothing them out, I completed the shirts and pants

Next was the leg warmers! These were my favorite clothing piece to make because there were so many crease!!!

Unfortunately, I was not able to add detail to the feet because the leg support needed to be thicker for him to stand.

Now was the troublesome part, the hair. Have you seen his hair, god i wanted to cry. Started off with something that looked more like Zac Efron and slowly became a little more recognizable

By now I’ve begun adding parts of the cape and hood.

Sadly the cape was ruined because of the fall, but I tried my best to make it sort of cool. Its got a few rips and holes, but nothing too attention attracting

and thats as far as I got last night!! Hopefully I’ll have my painted figure up by tomorrow, if not the day after!!

Oh man, it's done! This is my entry for the-guardian-of-fun's Winter Prince Contest. I used a combination of watercolor, copic marker, gel pen, and other media! It's supposed to be sort of like a mobile, but it reminds me more of a dream catcher at this point?? I wanted there to be some 3d elements to this piece, so I secured Jack and the snowflakes to the moon using several chunks of cardboard to push them off of the backdrop. I then hung various blue and clear beads from fishing line, also attached to the moon. This piece is meant to hang from either ceiling or wall, as pictured!

I'm very excited about how this piece came out. Quick shout out to my mom who gave up a lot of her cool beads for this project!  The Winter Prince design was challenging and fun to replicate. What an adventure!

Honestly, I wasn't going to enter this contest when I first saw it. Like a lot of others, my initial thought was, "I won't win, why bother?" And then I saw the-guardian-of-fun's post about everyone feeling the same way, and started wondering when it was I had just stopped trying? Where was the harm in at least trying? If I didn't try, I couldn't ever win. Reinvigorated,  I went on to make this piece. I changed my mind a lot and almost thought I wouldn't get it done in time, but here it is! I'm happy with this piece, and so glad I did end up trying. Thanks to the-guardian-of-fun for saying the words I needed to hear!

Jack - Inspires the Block

This is my next door neighbors. I’ve never actually talked to them. But I came home after going to the store and saw the little girl coloring, as he father grilled.

I walked over and started to talk to them. The dad spoke first saying how much she loved the Jack Frost sidewalk art. She stood up and told me that SandMan was her favorite. She went on saying, she like him because he would fall asleep all the time. I asked her about her drawing and she happily told me all about her Hello Kitty picture. He dad drew the outlines based off her shirt. Then she told me she like cats.

I told her I really liked her art and that she was so good at coloring her. She proudly started to color her again. She was so cute! I’m pretty sure she had better chalk than I did. Her colors are SO much brighter than mine! I’m a little jealous.

The mom two doors down (seen in the picture above) watched me on Saturday drawing Jack. She took pictures all the time and kept me company asking different questions. I went to get the mail today and the mom watched me from the deck. She asked if I could take a picture of her whole family from my deck. I was like really?! Okay! The daughter, in the blue, loves Jack Frost. She said, he was her favorite Guardian. I’m so glad all the kids on my block enjoyed Jack so much.

This is why I am proud to be an artist.

Tomorrow it’s going to rain... *sighs* I’m glad I took so many pictures. n_n

FINALLY..DONE.... GOD im going to regret this in the morning... anywaYS here is my entry for the winter prince contest!!!! in my mind jack has never been much of the princely type, so i drew him struggling with his studies. all hard work and deadlines.

This is my entry for the Winter Prince Contest. It took a long time to finish because of my full of deadline summer semester. Sorry for the crown, I just added it when coloring so it has a weird shape and color...

As you can see I designed it as a movie poster. I think it’s so unfair if only Jack has a new outfit so I draw something new for everyone. My idea is an imagination castle where we have Prince Jack Frost, the Great General North, Bunnymund the Soldier, Sandy as a wisely noble, the dark scholar Pitch and the lady/princess from neighbor country Toothiana with her sister Baby Tooth. We also have The Winter Old Man as the King (of course!) and a muskox as The Ancient Winter Spirit.

Making all of these stuffs was very enteresting. I found some amazing drawing technique when painting, like you can make a snowstorm by using your toothbrush with white paint. And maybe someday in the future I’ll make a oneshot about this concept :))

It’s not about winning or lose the prizes, I enter it because my idol is the-guardian-of-fun. I’ve been following her for 3 years, even before I had my own tumblr and everytime I visit her blog, I find my love for Jack Frost keep burning strong, she always inspires me.  I hope this one of mine can give inspiration to someone who loves Jack like the way I given by her arts.

It’s dooooone!

God, this was sooo much work. A year ago I already started my first ice crown of the winter prince fanarts of > http://the-guardian-of-fun.tumblr.com/

But I never finished but the pattern was still there, and the basic and stuff. Then this fanart contest showed up and I was like. Gooood I have to finish it! And then I started working hard.

The whole crown is made out of worblas transpa art. Its really a difficult material but I somehow managed it. the nice effect: its transparent, like ice 8′D I took the pattern of the ice crown and tried to recreate it. I crafted every ice part by itself and added it to the base. Next step was adjustig it to my head, and thats the reason why it doesnt fit that good to the wighead, and why the back part isn’t together like it should be. But on my head it is! Then I added some blue highlights to give it some more living? It really looks dark on the pictures, but in real its really light and you cant see it very well. (Damn mobile phone pictures. D:)  And I am sorry for the ugly wighead. uu I wanted to take pictures with it, but no time. I couldn’t resist. I added the lights. And it glows. In the night. my whole room is glowing in the night now. But it looks so beautiful. ; A ; I hope this is okay, because its ... beautiful? /’D

My almost late entry for the-guardian-of-fun’s contest. You guy’s know me, I’m constantly redesigning outfits for Jack so the chance to draw someone else’s design plus possibly win some cool swag was a win-win for me.

I played around with a cleaner style for this as opposed to my usual, got a bit creative making the crown float and covered him with ice.

whew! painting took a lot more time and im still a little upset at it because my acrylic was cheap and clumped up on the clay.. So after a lot of retouching, and even fixing the face a little, i have my end product for the Winter Prince Jack frost Contest!!!
