ā€How strange. Was this mirror here before?ā€
Tumblr media
Pure Vanilla, now awakened, stared uneasily into the mirror as he pulled his staff close to it for some light. It seems to depict something, in long-winded hindsight, he never put any thought to discerning. Despite this strange void being all about… him in many ways, all the things in quiet forgotten corners keep pointing to Pure Vanilla himself.
ā€œJust what were you doing then, Shadow Milk Cookie…?ā€ He pondered quietly out into the dull, dim void.
< ——— > Okay okay, I wanted to play with cracked mirrors, try coloured shading with a semi-lineless style, and write a mini story with it at the same time… sue me haha!! I wanted to experiment for once. :>
The shapes formed with the cracks in the middle was half-purposeful, I just piled on a bunch of cracks in the mirror until I found a cool spot to spring the rest of this piece onto. I think that turned out well! Pattern recognising brain to the rescue :3

nothing but respect for our troops (smut writers) but listen. i dont want to be the person to tell you this, but not every character is going to be a dom or a sub. some people. and i know this is hard to hear. but some people do have vanilla sex. and some of those people might even be The Character.

Maybe I’ll try one or two of these mentioned in this reblog thread instead, considering I cannot get myself to write more than a few edits on my one WIP on GDocs anymore anyway.
So there’s… Scrivener, Ellipsus, and LibreOffice in here. Those are some neat alternatives :>

Everyone: Please please please don't write your books in Google Docs. Frankly don't use Google Drive for personal stuff.
Their terms of service say they take down stuff like content related to terrorism and trafficking, but this Google Sheet was literally a list of movies I'd watched this year and books I'd read.

Also, if you really are saying you’re ā€œā€ā€ā€badā€ā€ā€ā€ at drawing (insert blorbo here). No you aren’t. I have 10940292992 thoughts on that one guy you drew. I love it. I WILL LOVE IT NO MATTER WHAT. THAT IS A THREAT. A REALLY AFFECTIONATE THREAT. OC, ESTABLISHED CHARACTER, DON’T CARE. I WILL LOVE YOUR ART. >:3c mwahahah
youre not ā€œbad at artā€ you just need to find a character to latch onto to where you draw them 1 million times and you improve dramatically

wait do people read first person stories and think they're the ones in the story???
Saw people talking about not liking first person, which is fair, but their reasoning was like "I would not do that" and I don't understand that mindset.
First person stories are still about a character. A character making their own decisions. First person isn't about you???? At least I thought it wasn't. What am I missing? I've always seen first person as just a more in-depth look into a character's mind and stricter POV. Not as a reader stand-in.

Pros of re-reading your own fic
a good time;
Has exactly the tropes you like and the characterization you want to read;
Gratification: yes you did finish a thing and yes you did do good;
just a very fun time all around.
Cons of re-reading your own fic:
Is that another TYpO

If I sit down to write it’ll be made into history I swear. Not to anyone else but me ok the WIPs are going to get revenge on me at any moment at this rate!
Imagination really loves to spin around and dodge my every move to put onto the page so it is really a quick-time game before the imagination wins and I never get my writing done or anything!!
Um anyway don’t be me. Jot it down before imagination takes hold and makes a million branches of ideas. Write with the imaginary seedling, not the tree. Trust me, it’s much harder to write something already established, solid and unmovable in your brain before a single word comes out.
sitting down to write isn't really about creating a story, it's about getting the story onto the page before it destroys me

There was a reviewer or commenter who said "I always keep track of how many mistakes the protagonist makes and after three, I stop reading the story and never look back".
I think about that person pretty frequently. We read for our own enjoyment, and therefore there's no wrong way to read a book so long as you're enjoying yourself, but ... maybe I don't actually believe that. Maybe there are wrong ways to read a book, and this guy found one.
