july target language writing challenge: day 01/31
today’s task was to translate the beginning of your favorite book! I translated the first few paragraphs of The Dream Thieves (or Los Saqueadores de Sueños) by Maggie Stiefvater into spanish! I’ve barely used spanish since school ended so this was v fun. books are always a challenge because they use so many different tenses all at once! (those reflexives were a bit of a struggle lol)
#studyblr#writingchallengejuly#studyingsenseless#langblr#study inspo#op#i'm so excited to do the rest of this challenge bc this was a lot of fun!!

July Target Language Writing Challenge
Day 1: Translate the first few sentences of your favourite book into your language
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
MORT ET CHOCOLAT
Avant tout lescoleurs. Ensuite leshumains.
Affable.
i’m nowhere near ready to even form sentences in my other target languages.
please feel free to correct my mistakes :D

July Target Language Writing Challenge (7/31): Describe your favourite summer outfit
Translation:
The outfit I like wearing most during summer is a romper with heels. It is casual, but also pretty. Since I usually wear t-shirts and shorts, it is also my nicest summer outfit. The romper is black with light purple flowers.

July Writing Challenge
Day 1: Translate the first few sentences of your favorite book into your target language
English: "Once upon a time, before the whole world changed, it was possible to run away from home, disguise who you were, and fit into polite society. The children’s mother had done exactly that."

1st July: Translate the first few sentences of your favourite book
A Series of Unfortunate Events (The Bad Beginning) by Lemony Snicket
“If you are interested in stories with happy endings, you would be better off reading some other book. In this book, not only is there no happy ending, there is no happy beginning and very few happy things in the middle. This is because not very many happy things happened in the lives of the three Baudelaire youngsters. Violet, Sunny and Klaus were intelligent children, and they were charming, and resourceful, and had pleasant facial features, but they were extremely unlucky, and most everything that happened to them was rife with misfortune, misery, and despair. I'm sorry to tell you this, but that is how the story goes.”

july target language writing challenge - days 16, 17, 18 and 19
Day 16: Briefly describe some of your personality traits.
Day 17: What's one nice thing that you've done for someone else recently?
Day 18: Why do you want to learn the language you are studying?
Day 19: List 3 useful phrases in your language.

July Writing Challenge Day 1: Translate the first few sentences of your favorite book into your language.
My name is Kathy H. I’m thirty-one years old, and I’ve been a carer now for over eleven years. That sounds long enough, I know, but actually they want me to go on for another eight months, until the end of this year. That’ll make it almost exactly twelve years. Now I know my being a carer so long isn’t necessarily because they think I’m fantastic at what I do. There are some really good carers who’ve been told to stop after just two or three years. And I can think of one carer at least who went on for all of fourteen years despite being a complete waste of space. So I’m not trying to boast. But then I do know for a fact they’ve been pleased with my work, and by and large, I have too. My donors have always tended to do much better than expected. Their recovery times have been impressive, and hardly any of them have been classified as “agitated,” even before fourth donation. Okay, maybe I am boasting now. But it means a lot to me, being able to do my work well, especially that bit about my donors staying “calm.” I’ve developed a kind of instinct around donors. I know when to hang around and comfort them, when to leave them to themselves; when to listen to everything they have to say, and when just to shrug and tell them to snap out of it.
Excerpt from Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

Is it too late to start the target writing challenge?
I haven’t had much time this past week because I’ve been on vacation, but now that I’m back I’d like to try the July target language writing challenge
Day 1: Translate the first few sentences of your favorite book into your language.
Book: War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy, translated to English by Alymer Maude
‘Well, Prince, so Genoa and Lucca are now just family estates of the Buonapartes. But I warn you, if you don’t tell me that this means war, if you still try to defend the infamies and horrors perpetrated by that Antichrist - I really believe he is Antichrist - I will have nothing more to do with you and you are no longer my friend, no longer my ‘faithful slave,’ as you call yourself! But how do you do? I see I have frightened you - sit down and tell me all the news.’
If you happen to notice any mistakes, please let me know! It would be really helpful😊

July Target Language Writing Challenge
Day 2: If you could live in any era (i.e. the roaring ‘20s), what would it be and why?

July Writing Challenge
Day 10: How will you improve as a student next year?
