I think the r/limbuscompany situation is so hilarious.

So, the mods create a poll one day. Basically saying "we think that the sub is too horny. we're gonna hold a vote. you can choose to either have us make the NSFW rules stricter, or keep them the same"

Before this point, the rule was just "NSFW will be banned if its hornier than stuff in the game" But apparently, too many people were reporting relatively innocent posts for being NSFW, so the mods wanted to "make it easier" by just automatically banning anything in that gray area.

75% of the voters chose to keep the rules the same. And the mods totally and definitely respected their decision and NAH I'M JUST KIDDING THEY MADE THE RULES STRICTER ANYWAY

They said "we're gonna test out the stricter rules for a month" and, in my opinion, this was a ploy to make people not get so pissed about it.

People were pissed about it. People started clowning on the mods and all that. And a few things happened.

First, posts started getting auto-removed left and right because of some new automod report threshold system. Obviously, not good.

And then, someone posted This Art of Angela eating corn (originally drawn by one chitoitsu7) and got banned from both r/limbuscompany and r/theodysseyhadapurpose (the limbus shitposting sub with the same mods)

And not only that, but all their comments and posts from both subs were completely purged.

This Meme was also posted. I think it may have been posted by the same user as the one who put the corn art onto the sub, but if not, it was also posted by someone who had their account banned from both subs due to it.

At this point, people are fucking pissed. Everyone is mad. Even the people who were defending the mods over the NSFW decision were like "okay but now they have both not listened to us and started banning people who disagree with them"

And then, the person who posted the Angela Corn art got this message.

Now I don't have time to go through all the archived posts and comments by this person and point out how few-to-no examples there are of them "stirring the pot" but its safe to say that they broke no rules. At least, not enough to justify an IMMEDIATE permaban from both the sub in question and a different sub. Even the inciting art, the Angela Corn art, is not NSFW in any conceivable way unless you're either a complete degenerate or a top-tier puritan.

Everyone is mad. This message, which sounds like it was written by a 14 year old who watches too much anime and not like a simple and clear ban explanation by an experienced moderator, has been turned into one of the biggest copypastas in the Reddit Limbus community.

Where are we now? Apparently, the mods are going to make a statement soon. It seems like they may have been gaming too much and not noticed the sub bursting into flames for the past half day. Either that or the rogue mod(s?) were just too convincing about everything being fine. Either way, we'll have to wait and see.

Here's a very obscure animatronic: this is Charlie (or maybe Charley? Tragically, we don't have his name in written form anywhere) the clown, who sits inside of a prize vending machine and plays his guitar. He was built in 1987 by a company called S&A Universal Leisure, which I can't find any further information on. He's a little hard for me to understand (not sure if it's the accent, the audio quality, or both), but I love him lots!

merchant I was browsing the crk wiki at random and was super impressed at how well-researched mystic flour's entire page was. they wrote such an in-depth analysis on her personality and ended on a beautiful metaphor with how her relationship with dark cacao is: "like how a white cloud would contrast a black stone. Instead of standing as a bulwark against conflict, she envelops others in a fog of visions to obscure their path forward and render them helpless, until they have no choice but to acknowledge their own futile actions. But though a cloud can never be harmed by a stone, a stone can never be moved by a cloud in return" like holy crap I really recommend reading the entire thing it's amazingly well written. then I thought "I need to see what they wrote about the relationships between other beasts and their ancients." I got to burning spice next. scroll down. motherfucker has 2 small paragraphs describing his personality in the most barebone sense 🫠 NO METHAPHOR NO NOTHING... Smlik is better but not by much... there is clear favortism afoot in this wiki 🤨

... But yeah, Burning Spice is the middle child of the Beasts so far and it really shows lol. Both on the wiki and with Devsisters themselves. Dude didn't even get a countdown while Mystic Flour and Shadow Milk did and then some. Shadow Milk gets an hour-long commentary video, a limited edition plushie, a billion different sprites, even Devsis' avatar on YouTube is Shadow Milk's stupid, ugly clown mug. What does Burning Spice get? Not even a decent wiki entry smh

He's based on Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction. There's so much that can be said with that. There's so much that can be said about his dynamic with Golden Cheese. How they compare and contrast. How GC herself mirrors aspects of Hindu mythology, just like he does, in tandem with him. Before Pennywise by David_ginsberg (7k words)

This underrated fave is a really nice quick read that packs a punch, taking the form of several vignettes from Richie’s, Eddie’s, Stan’s and Bill’s childhoods before the events of IT 2017. It’s got brilliant outsider povs from various minor characters (i especially love this fic’s take on the toziers), super believable little anecdotes and a Doomed Yet Nostalgic vibe.

A study on blind!richie throughout his life & relationship with eddie, as he gradually loses his eyesight. It’s written with so much care & realism, focuses on self-acceptance rather than suffering, and portrays such a sweet and supportive dynamic between the losers club.

A simple yet effective teen reddie oneshot, wherein Richie and Eddie are shopping for (or rather gearing up to shoplift) movies. Teasing re Eddie’s movie preferences ensues in classic drawn-out-cat-and-mouse reddie fashion. For anyone looking for: a chance to fly-on-the-wall over these guys’ stupid conversations, 80s movie references, and characterisation so brilliant it feels like a novel outtake.

I'm just throwing out a slight assumption based on another fic that got added to TV tropes: The author mentioned getting a lot more hate and negativity after their fic was added to the TVT in the comment, like noticeably.

They explained in one of the comments to another why they had to mod lock the comments and the fic, and it was in an author's note in a new chapter they later removed. People who didn't like some of the side ships, and people who didn't like the main ships dynamic, started complaining and demanding random shit of the author. I think the AN explicitly mentioned threats and other explicitly threatening comments. It's not really a new that people coming from third parties to look at a fanfic seem to act like they're entitled to demand the author write exactly what they want or change parts of the fic, while they're consuming a story written for free.

Like, sure, you are publishing your story for any readers. But you can't deny that most fics never reach the popularity to become known outside their tag range, so most people aren't prepared nor do they expect to suddenly have to deal with people with absolutely zero interest in their writing, who're just there to insult you and your work coming in through third parties. It's kinda the same deal like with the Goodreads, you're writing for the fandom and for free, not to be put next to original works with much bigger audiences behind them and who're actually getting paid for their writing. And then recieving criticism as if the person had actually paid you.

As a fic writer the expectation is you write for fellow fans, your audience is a small part of fandom people who have interests at least partially aligning with your own. If you write original works, you write for anyone interested in what you have to offer and try to get a wider audience to get more sales and attention.

Side note: It often feels like people give writers a lot less breathing room when it comes to harassment, or having their works plastered into spaces they didn't agree to. Like, any writer complaining is told it's their own fault, and to shut up, and if they didn't want random people with no connection to the fandom or even ship to read it they shouldn't ever dare publish a fanfic ever. A writer mentioning being uncomfortable having their fanfiction plastered into spaces for professional works and with a high rate of unwanted criticism and some times really entitled trolls are expected to just "Suck it up, you knew the risk when you published your work." When they really didn't. How are you supposed to expect that amongst millions of fanfics, your little passion project is going to be shoved onto Goodreads as if it was some kinda professional publication? It also doesn't give the fanfic writers any benefits, AO3 is an archive, stats mean nothing, they're a bit of a vanity boost, but at large you don't get anything from having your work put into professional spaces, no recognition, no money, and you're forcibly held up to the standards or original fiction by entitled people. 🤷‍♀️ -Btw I know I'm a bit dramatic, and all that, but I still think it's weird how fanfic writers are some times held to standards of published original authors.

"What's an askblog?"

An askblog is a tumblr blog centered around a character or group of characters, where people can send questions to the character(s) and the mod/mun will create responses in-character! They're a little different from RP blogs in that it's up to the mod/"mun" if there will be any story elements or not, and the audience doesn't participate as "characters" in-universe so to speak (most of the time). There's a lot of different forms of askblogs, such as text askblogs which are entirely written, illustrated (like Deadangelos) which are more of a comic-form, cosplay askblogs, voice acting askblogs, and more! "If it's about Nico why is it all Jason right now?"

Deadangelos technically is only primarily focused on Nico, and other characters can be asked questions too. But regarding Jason specifically - I'm doing an event right now! Deadangelos will occasionally feature story plotlines, and the current one focuses on Jason's backstory of his experiences pre-HoO at Camp Jupiter.

"How do I catch up on what's going on?"

Currently there's not a perfect way to fully catch up on the blog other than just reading it. All events are tagged as such, and you can append "/chrono" to the end a tumblr blog's url when looking at tags to read the tag in chronological order from oldest to newest. Unfortunately /chrono tags don't work on mobile, so the best way to read deadangelos is on browser! It's all completely unexplained! (Fun to tie in with the implication that they may be immortal though!)

Teen Titans (1966) #38 "Through These Doors Pass the Bravest Titans of Them All": Explores Dick, Donna, and Mal's dreams and insecurities which is fun and it's a little funny to me that all the redheads (Lilith, Wally, Roy) escapes this exploration

The Brave and the Bold (1955) #102 "The Commune of Defiance": A story about civil disobedience portrayed in a good light where the Titans participate!! A story about improving a neighbourhood!!! It's so good I actually teared up a little. If you read nothing else, read this!!!!!!! I'm obsessed with this story actually!!!!!!!!!!

Teen Titans (1966) #41 "What Lies in Litchburg Graveyard": Another story with quite heavy exploration of the history of slavery in America. Is it accurate and sensitive enough? It's like really not my place to say but it seems to be written to teach people at that time about the impacts they have Mr Jupiter raised by a cool black lady which is cool to me!

well that’s the neat part. they’re not the same person. they’re from different timelines, except when the writers decide they are the same person anyway, except when the writers decide they aren’t the same person— don’t even fucking worry about it. it’s all net negative information.......

my thoughts are difficult to put succinctly because there's a lot of context required to explain my intense levels of frustration... i’m frankly really not actually keen to talk about ruler in general.. it's kind of a raw spot... those are all certainly reasons for disliking him, but it’s kind of just scratching the surface of a pile of proverbial straw that broke my proverbial back... you nailed the "replaceable" part, given he and other elements were written in during a later revision and implemented so poorly that people could tell even without external confirmation...

but i do still want people to understand why the bigger picture situation surrounding this character was and is such absolute shit (and how it's just one of many microcosms of fgo's egregious patterns of bold-faced shithead decision making the past 5 years), and that it was never just "lol angry that he's not an old man" or "lol can't handle another interpretation of a character you like", so i'm always open to answering that kind of stuff.

TL;DR if you made the mistake of Actually Reading the text contents of The Video Game Fate Grand Order and you are capable of remembering or caring about said text contents for more than 2 years you can just go straight to hell because this game is ruled by the whims of one parts marketing department and one parts cowboy-committee. this incident is far from the only case of that, mind you. it's just the one that was Literally 9/11 to me specifically.
