I have joined the Battery Tool group 👍

I just got this Greenworks mower and I love it. I will use it for trimming and the ditch cutting. I had also bought their string trimmer and blower. Great tools, look out yard, here I come. 😀
All we need is rain so something will grow. 😂

For some reason I was surprised when I saw a rusty post-hole digger at Goodwill Outlet.

Good morning. ☮️✌️🪻
4 April 2025

Yesterday, we spent time working in the backyard. I repaired a hinge on the back gate and mowed the lawn for the first time this year. I also trimmed around the fence until the battery on my trimmer died—I had forgotten to recharge it after its last use. In that moment, I couldn’t help but think, 'What a wonderful feature: built-in breaks! 😂' It turned out to be the perfect excuse to call it a day. Meanwhile, my wife was busy in the raised garden, planting something new. I noticed several little seed packets in the kitchen, hinting at her plans. This is the first time in years that something other than weeds will grow in the garden. I can't help but wonder what’s gotten into us—where did this burst of energy come from? Must be biorhythms at work.
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them—that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality.” - Lao Tzu

Day 4056 - Turns out that distributing the giant pile of woodchips we got from the arborists to all of the beds means chipping away at it over many many days.

I'm so sad I let my garden go to COMPLETE TRASH over the winter!
This was my wildflower patch!! It was going so well, but my dogs busted through that make-shift fence and trampled over all of my flowers!
That black box at the back is my compost mound.

My raised beds and container garden area are all so sad looking!

All my empty pots. Most, if not all, will be filled with the things growing in my craft room.

Lastly.....my greenhouse. The wind just ate it up! I bought a new clear cover for it, just waiting on better weather before I get to putting it up.

Spring 2024 is here!

Being girly while mowing the lawn before the first frost, it's amazingly blustery, the sun is going down and ohhh, you just feel cute in jean shorts and a tee as you think of one of your ships being domestic as their partner watches them do their gardening and mowing.
Fall is so the happiest season for me. 😄

Autumn Adulting:
It's like Spring Cleaning, but later because springtime at work is nuts!
(My apologies if this is a duplicate post. Tumblr appears to have eaten the first one).
There will be no Before Pictures.
It's September 2nd and Labor Day in the US, so I spent a good portion of the day doing yard work in my abandoned back yard. (This summer the heat wave started and just didn't stop. When we got a brief break for about a week, I started weed whacking and the weed whacker I got used ten years ago started smoking. Therefore, I had to purchase a new one and wait for the weather to cool again.
The good: my new electric weed whacker is more powerful than the old one and decimated the overgrowth in a fraction of the time.
The bad: it's louder, the more powerful motor made my arms ache, and it goes through string like there is no tomorrow. (Hopefully next time when there is less to whack the string will last longer). I bought a spare spool and have a small yard but only got about 2/3 done. Also, I had it positioned wrong on the first pass and ended up edging a portion of the yard down to the dirt instead of just whacking.
I don't have much upper body strength so I use the weed whacker instead of a lawn mower for my relatively small yard. It might be slower going but I end up less exhausted and in less pain.
After I ran out of string I hacked up the azalea that was trying to take over the yard again. I know it's the wrong time of year for that but it needed to be done. Hoping to get more string and try to finish this weekend.

This year, our yard is lush with mushrooms, which I'm discovering delight me. They are all so different and alien looking. I don't care if they're edible, I just want them and their weirdness to spread.

yard work
okay, so I didn't get before photos but imagine the entire yard if fill of like 3 to 4 ft tall tumbleweeds, like this shit we piled in this corner. But it's the whole yard.

My husband wants to build a garden back here. The entire yard (front and back) is just weeds, sand, and rocks. Everything is weird and lumpy so we'll have to buy dirt and level it out. He got off work earlier than I did yesterday and started clearing the weeds out of the yard. He made a lot of progress!

We still have the back and other side of the yard to go but it's looking better!! My yard is huge 🥲 the stuff in this portion of the backyard is shorter at least.
