i desperately need to be the leader of a human uprising against a world which has been largely overtaken by robots and there's one specific robot girl who's a prominent leader in the robot forces. She hates me, I hate her, and years go by as we keep fighting each other. I think we're getting closer, we have to be. We can't let those things win.

Then, finally, it comes. Our largest scale attack. We charge, all at once, on the largest base of operations for the robots, running on adrenaline and hope, desperate, desperate hope, for the future of humanity.

And they obliterate us. They obliterate me, leaving me bloody and barely alive, lying on the battlefield knowing we'd failed. Then, a figure stands over me, and as I blackout, I can feel myself being picked up.

When I wake up, something feels wrong. I'm in pain, sure, but not nearly enough for the abuse I just took, and I assume I must be dead. Then I see her. The robot girl leader, at a work table across the room. Humming a softly digital tune to herself, until I make the surface I'm on creak and she startles.

She explains that I was in critical condition. That I was going to die if I didn't have parts of me replaced, so she did it. I can't think about the disgust of being part machine now from the sheer surprise that she - helped me? My worst enemy saved my fucking life?!

Like she's reading my thoughts, she snaps at me to shut up before I can ever say anything. It's unclear what happens next. If I can leave, if the other robots know I'm here. If her goal is to torture me, so dying wasn't an option, or if there's some other strange reason she wants me alive.

I spend a few unbearably contentious nights in the workshop I woke up in, sleeping on the same table my operation took place. Feeling the machines moving inside me so unnaturally every time I close my eyes. She keeps not saying anything, only giving me glances from the side, not saying I can go but not telling me to stay, either.

One day, I move closer to her worktable. Watching the way her robotic fingers move with such grace. It's mesmerizing.

She finally speaks up to tell me it's rude to stare. But I keep watching, and she does nothing to prevent it. I swear there's a soft smirk on those grey lips of hers.

It's odd to me, how I know what she's working on. About all the devices she's always tinkering with, from all the observing I did while planning the uprising. I know so much about a robot woman I've yet to have a conversation with, at least one that wasn't yelled over the sounds of gunfire and explosions.

I can't bear the silence, nor the occasional sarcastic remarks. So I crack. "What are we?" I ask after another few days. She freezes perfectly in place, or so I think, until I notice the shake to her hand, such an oddly human response to the question. More human then most of the monsters who were willing to join my uprising.

"I'm still figuring that out," she whispers. She goes back to work. After a few minutes, she starts to hum, like I'm not here. Or - like it's okay that I'm here. I let a smile creep onto my face.

We're getting somewhere.

opinion on character: COD I LOVE HER SO MUCH. she makes me ill. she is such a lame little guy with deep relationship and identity issues. the way she is so dependent on others is tragic i truly wish nothing but the best for her (despite how many times i say i would like a comically large anvil to fall on her head) i used to heavily associate her with myself and i somewhat still do, but i really really enjoy her whole arc and character! i LOVED her whole thing with team bleh and how everything/one she has gone through shaped her into who she is today. she is seriously one of my favorite characters and nothing could change that.

1. What first drew you into Transformers? Has this draw remained the same over time or has it changed?

one thing about me is that i LOVE a longform multimedia multi-author project with no good jumping on point. if there's, like, one that's objectively the best one but that nobody wants to admit is actually the best one so they come up with about 15 mediocre-to-bad jumping on points, even better. (i will die on the hill that the g1 cartoon is the best entry point for transformers as a franchise and that IDW 2005 anything is sub-optimal at best.)

though for transformers specifically, i was about to do a fuuuuuck ton of busywork and needed something stupid to watch while i was doing it, so i checked to see if tubi had any transformers stuff because i knew some of my friends liked it. (then i got confused because tubi has a lot of transformers stuff and made a spreadsheet about it. typical niels.) (this is the spreadsheet it's "done" in that i don't think i'm missing anything but really is unfinished until i've read all that)

2. Favorite part(s) of the Transformers canon/franchise?

uh. hm! toughie! i guess i'd say my current favorite section of canon is Super Robot Lifeform Transformers: Legends of the Microns, which is what got adapted into Transformers: Armada here in the US. i haven't seen armada but i loooooooooove microns. it makes me crazy

i pick favorites easily though. i also really like john barber's work in IDW 2005 (i said it was a bad entry point, not that it was bad) and till all are one, problematic as it is. and i'm currently really enjoying beast wars.

3. Least favorite part(s) of the Transformers canon/franchise?

cyberverse. lmfao. windblade i will get you out of this cartoon for babies.

i have like 15 episodes left but for context (spoilers for the next... rest of the post). cyberverse has 3 seasons. bumblebee and windblade are the main characters of season one, taking on a primary and secondary protagonist role respectively. the basic plot of season one is them trying to reunite with the other autobots on Earth, while fighting windblade's nemesis slipstream. at the end of the season they reunite with the other autobots, yay!

in season two there's a larger cast with no fixed main character (though it's been a hot minute since i've seen the first half of season two). there's like a dozen new men introduced v three women. uh slipstream fucking dies, bludgeon (another decepticon) kills her because he thinks she's a traitor. (she basically dies in windblade's arms though. kind of a toxic yuri W.)

a few episodes later windblade goes to try and kill bludgeon about this (she doesn't have the same pacifist characterization here as in IDW 2005). she's suddenly really bad at fighting though and needs wheeljack to bail her out. in early s3, windblade and bludgeon face off again, and again windblade only defeats him with wheeljack's help. (it's much more windblade's defeat this time though. last time it was unambiguously wheeljack who saved the day. ugh.)

also in s2e16... ugh. my bitchy recap is that windblade isn't allowed to do her fucking job of being a cityspeaker, she has to be possessed by a titan. LAME. she would do all that crazy shit to help a citytitan anyways she doesn't need to be possessed. dont piss me off.

and then in s3 hot rod is randomly taking on a leadership role. i did not accidentally say hot rod instead of rodimus btw he is doing this shit without being a prime. "well surely he isn't just randomly a main character now-" wrong. and it's like. why couldn't it have been windblade (historically has been a leader without being a prime). why couldn't it have been bumblebee, who's barely in any episodes but is all over the branding? are you stupid? bitch?

d4dj stands for “dig delight direct drive.” there are 11 in game units, 10 of which are playable. the units are happy around (happy ara), peaky pkey (peaky p), photon maiden, lyrical lily (lyrilily), rondo, merm4id (m4), call of artemis (coa) (old women yuri), unichørd, abyssmare, a bad cynic doggo (abcd), and the last (with no playable characters) is the retired LMO (old men)

theres also EGOEGG, but thats a spinoff for digger academy (idfk what that is ngl)

to explain the lore itself, i’ll split it into a few parts.

part 1 is basically first mix/first anime; it explains happy ara’s origins and how it formed. basically rinku (blonde girl) heard a song in the cafeteria during lunch and was like “oh my gaur i love this song queen” and ran to the broadcast room and begun harassing maho (happy ara dj) and then they formed a dj group

then they were at the cafe and making flyers for their live concert and mini (bunny gal) was like “HOLY SHIT THAYS UGLY) and rinku was like “omg my childhood friend!!!” and yeah and then she joined as a vj and then they had trouble making song and then rei (long hair) was play piano and now she pianist

blah blah blah happy ara peaky p photonmaiden lyrily rondo m4 meet and d4fes party woohoo dj festival and peaky p vs coa (coa wins yay)

michiru kaibara there too she solo act yay queen

michiru kaibara going to highschool and now haooy she wants to challenge abyssmare (USA RAHHHH) at d4fes usa so she needs group so she asks vtuber lumina and two closeted lesbians to join up so they do

basically kokoa has beef with michiru bc she made a remix of a memorial song for her dead mom (to be fair it wasn’t stated it was a memorial song & michiru didn’t know)

weroelsie threatens michiru and is like “let’s go bruh” andyayay so then eventially there’s a contest thang (neo only came bc lumina was gonna face off)

so then neo has a breakdown offstage and lumina pops in and be like “gurl i a robot u daddy made me using yo dead mommas voice lol” then neo wants to kill herself but sophia (bpd girlf that’s litoly in love with her) slaps her and be like “gurl noooo” yay then yeah abyssmare wins severed tie with evil manager but they can’t leave bc usa contract still active so boo

then next arc is lumina has a lot of prototypes but they went loose and caused havoc and one of them put neo in a coma and boo so then they do some vr shit and yeah so like they go in computer and destroy lumina prototypes and then lumina explains that she is sentient ai and everyone like woAa so yeah then yeah and tysashhssjjd

then proto lumina (pumina) is nwo 2 years old baby and yeah she not evil no more yayyy

then there’s lyrily stuco arc but that’s ongoing so i’ll sum that up when it’s done
