Danny☀️

Here are some headcanons about him and other characters:

1. He spend most of his life in K’un Lun, so living in New York is big culture shock for him, feels like different universe for him and at first he was really struggling with New Yorks pace (like K’un Lun is definition of patience and peace while New York is complete chaos), he is still learning how juggle his superhero duties, training and just living in such a chaotic city without feeling overwelmed. Also the technology and social media is wild west for him, even tho he tries really hard to understand it better and is really interested in modern technology he always ends up in situarions like: ,,why is my phone working so slow?” Turns out he has open like 100 tabs… but somehow he is really good at using his mp3 player (he really loves music and has very questionable taste in it)

2. He is super chill about everything, he have that laid-back attitude and also fashion, like he wears very loose comfy clothes and tries to just blend in (he fails) and I like to think like he is popular at school but on accident and he doesn’t even realize it coz everyone just like how chill he is all the time. Most of his teammates are jealous of this and he doesn’t get why, he is just too clueless

3. Vegan (I thought this was just my headcannon but after starting S2 turns out it’s actually cannon in show too lol)

4. Danny is fist one to accept Peter as new teammate but also as friend, he is only one who has beenkind to him since beggining, they are really good friends even tho most of the time they are alone together they don’t talk just vibe together

5. Danny teaches Luke how to be more book smart and luke teaches danny street smarts, they are best bros actually and later ends up on lot of missons together. And I feel like Luke likes to joke about Danny’s fancy origins like: “Did you learned this moves while sipping on some mystical tea and writing poetry?” Danny never gets those are jokes and is always like: “yea, how did you know? :D”

6. Ava and Danny both likes to read, they both can go hours withour saying anything and just reading next to each other… others likes to point out that they are like grandparents when they do that, also I think being disturbed while reading only thing that can get danny out of his chill guy mood. While Ava does that “shhhhh” thing while being disturbed Danny just stare at them with really cold and done expression which says: are you gonna shut up?

7. Sam is the one who actually teaches Danny about modern technologies and stuff. He also gives Danny nicknames like for example Zen guy… he likes to make fun of him but he secretly admires how cool Danny can be with his whole mystical vibe around him and on the other other hand Danny admires Sam’s jokes and even sarcasm (when he finally gets the whole concept about it) and is very fast to learn those skills from him (Peter thinks Sam is ruining him lol)

8. Okay this one is bit awkward but I think lot I can’t be the only one who thought about this… so I remember during history classes it was mentioned multiple times that most monks practice celibacy and some of them don’t even come to contact with woman for most of their life’s… SO- I think that at beginning Danny don’t really think about relationships, don’t mind spending time with someone of opposite gender, he views men and women as equals and he doesn’t feel any attraction to anyone, he is very focused on training… ofc due to his “popularity” some people try to hit on him but again he is clueless about it, but at some point someone will make it very obvious that they are into him and he will do nothing about it but this moment will start his overthinking literally every human interaction phase and internal morality fight like he really would like to experience date but his mind is always like “why are you thinking about this? You are such a disgrace to K’un Lun!!!” Also he would go from talking w everyone same way to being speechless and all flustered around opposite gender… once that would happened even with Ava and her first thought about it would be something like he have some problem with her so she wouldn’t let him be until he tells her what’s wrong with him, so basically she would force him to spill the truth… then she would just laugh and make puns about it really often in front of others and he always tries to stop her so it looks like it’s some stupid inside joke of theirs which no one else gets

Hey so this is completely self indulgent and my own little spin on the dickhead redsuit Wade coz ya erm dont take this too seriously I am but a nerdy author with brainrot ya - Wade totally says chat (made a whole blog about this) basically he just refers to us, the audience as chat sometimes as if hes some livestreamer - Wade def refers to himself in the 3rd person at random (this also happens in the movie) prolly does it coz he knows hes in a story and is being written and sometimes js kinda feels disconnected from himself as a character for a moment - He changes his tone of voice A LOT, (based loosely off of the VA in the deadpool game and also how I talk irl lol) and sometimes does poorly done fake accents like british accents or etc, or in general just changes the tone of his voice to over-accentuate emotions - Changes his tone of voice but also has moments where hes js completely monotone, or a mock monotone. Again based loosely off the VA in the deadpool game (plus how I talk) mainly does this when hes bored or js :/ and starts acting super bummed coz hes a spontaneous mood swinging fuck

HATES getting talked over pitied and babied in any way. He just doesnt like being treated as a child which people tend to do because of his erratic personality and he fucking loathes it, it just makes him feel stupid and he knows hes stupid but he doesnt like hearing it from others

When I created this blog, I was in my "Jeantonio era", Jeantonio hyperfixation, if you were a CS fan in late 2022 most likely I was in your screen yapping about them and what not. Literally that was all my blog was good for, for that reason alone.

Yea, no more of that. I'm guessing the light switch turned off. I don't know what happened genuinely speaking they just aren't like..you can say I've gotten mature, when I look back at my posts I want to cry, bawl and curl up into a ball fetus position by the pure cringe of it. I don't know.

This time relationships with canon characters!!!!!

(They're all subject to change bc,,, I'm inconsistent and everything is still in development teehee)

I'm gonna kinda try to explain these btw

Toshiro! They're in class 2B, which makes then classmates with Mizuki and Toya. They've interacted with Mizuki a few times, but a little more so with Toya! Toshiro kinda admires Toya's demeanor in a way? And good grades/intelligence. Toshiro isn't the best with school, really.

He's a BIG MMJ fan actually. Like, going to all the concerts, following them on social media, absolutely fangirling over them fan. He has a lot of respect for Heruka with the way she holds herself. Actually, I think Toshiro would like to be less all over the place, so he tends to respect people that appear to be call and collected.

They met Ichika somewhere in middle school (though I didn't mark them as childhood friends, idk, just. didn't feel it) and became friends, but got really closer only in high-school, having similar interests (mainly vocaloid), and being able to share experiences and advice about being in a band! (Though I'm still not sure what exactly my Little Guys are. Are they a band..?) Anyways, through Ichika he knows the rest of l/n, but isn't close with them.

Toshiro has crossed paths with Rui, Tsukasa and Nene, being in the same school, and he pretty much thinks all of them are cool, but finds himself respecting Tsukasa's ambition a lot.

Matsu! He's in class 3C, being classmates with ruikasa. They've interacted a little, but not much. He thinks they're both kinda fun, that's about it. He's also interacted with Akito, Toya, and An, but it's the same situation, where he just thinks they're neat. Matsu had also encountered Mizuki before, and he thinks they're extremely cool and loves their style. He's also encountered Shiho in a uh. music store? instrument store? yk. He just thinks she's rlly cool.

Toshiro often drags Matsu with them to MMJ concerts and stuff (which can be a bit overwhelming, but he still likes it and has way of dealing with it pretty easily), and he found himself kinda admiring Airi for her energy! Though he doesn't care that much about the rest of the group, to Toshiro's slight disappointment. (Toshiro constantly tries to get Matsu rlly into MMJ. Matsu thinks it's fun. Maybe he will also become a fan?)

Matsu's and Emu's energy kinda match, so at some point they met and became friends! I haven't really come up with how they met though,,,, yet.

Fumi! She's not as social as the other members and doesn't have that many connections to canon characters. She's in class 2A, but isn't close with any of her classmates!

They've come across both Rui and Tsukasa while they were running away from a teacher, so. Fumi might kinda think these two are a little annoying. Which is understandable ig,,,,

With Shiho it's a similar story as with Matsu, they've seen her in a music store and the two kinda darted talking and their energy also somewhat matches, so over time they became friends! Fumi likes Shiho's vibe and often talks about music stuff with her. Overall, Fumi might be a bit judgemental, but she has her reasons. I think,,

Oh, also, Mafuyu! They've only interacted for a short period of time, but something about Mafuyu makes Fumi admire him in a way? (Though I did mark it as respect)

Finally, Seina! She's in Miyamasuzaka in the same class as Mafuyu. The two haven't interacted all that much, but Mafuyu once helped her, so Seina has a positive opinion of him.

She once came across the Shinonome siblings in a café she works at part-time (fun fact!), while they were arguing about something (flavor of cheesecak idk), and ended up having a small conversation with both after taking their order.

She's friends with Shizuku because, yea, again, somewhat similar energy, I think they'd get along. Ended up meeting the rest of MMJ through her, and thinks Haruka is very cool. When Toshiro found out Seina knew MMJ personally, he almost passed out.

Also, Seina ended up meeting Ichika through Toshiro. She thinks Ichika is sweet and whenever she comes to the Cafe Seina works at (which isn't that often, but still), she likes to chat with her a little.

I'll talk about the relationships between the unit members layer because I can literally talk about it for hours, it's a whole other thing,,

More controversial opinions from the Stephen King Anon: I think the only story of King's I liked reading is Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. On a different note, I think Michael Myers is so goddamn boring and the Halloween franchise would have been better as a H3 Season of the Witch style anthology series. Any attempt of giving Myers a character beyond just being a weird murder guy makes the movies actively worse for me. Lastly, Blair Witch Project is not a good movie. It had an effective media campaign but actually watching it is such a slog and I keep thinking about how mistreated the poor actors were.

I highly agree with the michael myers one, I always say that halloween 3 would had done so much better if they had ended michael’s store after the 1st one.

I appreciate blair witch project in the same way I appreciate saw, they’re not the best stories but they did something for the horror genre in that they either brought something back or started a whole new formula but yea the cast getting mistreated does put a damper on the movie

2024 Media Thread - #46

Touch Detective 3 (12/12/24) -  Score - 5/10

I would love to tell you Touch Detective 3 is the best game in the series. Sadly, this is not the case. That isn’t to say this game is bad. Most of what I loved with how they did 2 is back. But that’s part of the problem. 2 improved upon what 1 laid out to deliver a better and more fun experience. 3 is like “let’s do what 2 did but less interesting” and it shows. Part of the ambivalence is because of an aspect of this version of the game that is very unfortunate. 3 was the only game that hadn’t been released in English before. In fact the entire collection on switch was touted as Touch Detective 3 plus the other games. So it’s hard to argue it isn’t the main selling point of this collection. It sucks then, that the translation is…not good. Whether it’s because of a bad translation team or in the worst case scenario, machine translation for a quick cash grab (Nicalis is a company with a history of being awful for a multitude of reasons) the result is the same. Some of the lines seem fine but there are multiple upon multiple lines of dialogue that just seem off. I can tell they’re off because the translation of 1 and 2 was pretty consistent in its vocal style. I assume then that these games were the same translation they used when they came to the DS. All 3 games have some lines that are basically the same sentence. Like an easy one is when Mackenzie is explaining something to a character, it cuts to black with a line of text basically saying she recaps stuff to the characters. This line of dialogue only differs in 3 and the way it differs comes across as taking a more literal translation of what the original Japanese dialogue was likely saying. 

Now maybe I'm overreacting, you might say. Honestly, if this was the only example then yea I would be. But the script is littered with these kinds of lost in translation style of lines. At first I thought I was overreacting, but when Cromwell calls himself “this Cromwell” one moment then “I” in a different moment, then "this Cromwell" an even different moment... yea a pattern starts to form. Maybe it’s just an awkward translation but it adds up over time. At best, it’s the occasional stilted line. At worst, it’s funny dialogue being neutered due to poor translation. Some lines just made no sense in English and this wasn’t an issue I had with the first two games. It sucks because the entire core of this game is the dialogue. If the weird and funny dialogue isn’t there, why am I playing? That isn’t to say nothing funny is in this game. Some of the game's trademark humor made its way past the poor translation and what was there did make me chuckle. Nothing on the level of the second game but more than some of the lines in the first game. It helps that of the three games this is easily the easiest game to navigate. While 1 was a struggle at points to figure out what to do and 2 was much better but still had a few moments of tricky logic, 3 is straightforward as hell. You are very unlikely to get stuck in this game and on top of that some of the cases feel shorter, leading to a faster paced game overall for better or worse. In some respects this is for the worst because it feels that whether it’s due to the pace or due to the bad script the characters leave less of an impact in this one. Even the Cornstalker who was one of my favorites in the 2nd game ends up feeling like he’s barely in the game. Part of that may be that they have added too many characters. A lot of characters from 1 come back but a lot of them are just side characters. While I did complain about a lack of characters in 1, too many characters just makes the weird guys stand out. The one good thing with the generic NPCs in one is when you got a bizarre guy, they were distinct. In 2, a lot of the extras feel like just generic NPCs, making the amount of funny moments less and less.  

The bigger issue is that a lot more main characters are introduced, resulting in everyone just doing less. Daria I think is only really notable in one case and she only gets to shine there because literally most of the characters in that case are asleep. Cromwell does get time to shine in one case but it feels like he plays second fiddle in most of the cases. For example in the first game a random doctor takes over his role with him just kind of being there to be there. Chloe is probably the only old character that I think is still fairly solid. This would be fine if the new characters weren’t kind of whatever. The big new character is Norman Touche, a rival detective. Adding another friend for Mackenzie and a detective at that seems like a good idea on paper, but there are a few issues. For one, while they don’t treat Norman like he’s incompetent, he’s also not as good a detective as Mackenzie. The result is he kind of comes across as Chloe 2. And you never want to be Chloe 2. The other issue is…. he’s barely in the game. Despite being on the box art with his weird Dog/bird pet, he’s only really notable in the first case. He technically causes the plot of case 2 but he himself is barely relevant. Case 3 and 4 he’s just a background character and case 5 he only shows up at the end. On top of that they added a new villain to work with the Cornstalker, some mad half robot half human doctor. He’s…there. Like that’s really all I can say about this guy. He has a brother who's a good doctor and he’s bald but beyond that he is certainly in the video game. He makes a Banana Man, so that’s cool. But by existing with the Cornstalker he kind of takes away from him, which sucks cause he’s the better villain. So basically, the game is set at a much faster pace leading to less dialogue. This results in the characters not talking as much on top of having to share the limelight with so many other characters. And when you add in the translation issues, the characters can feel way more dull here. I should note, this game was on the 3DS. Going in I was expecting a drastic visual update but…no it looks basically the same. Part of this is likely because this is a port, I'm sure it looked a bit better on the 3DS than the DS games looked on the DS. The models are still identical though. The music does get a bit of a tune up and mostly for the better. There are a few new songs that are fun but it’s mostly the same music you know but a little cleaner sounding. 

The cases are also…fine? Honestly none of them really stand out to me, and the last case has so few characters it kind of just flies by.  It sucks because this should be the best game in the series in theory. They improved the formula so much in the 2nd game that it should have been an easy slam dunk. While the translation issues absolutely do not help, I also don’t think this game would surpass 2 even without them. It would maybe be on par with 2, but the pacing of the cases and the misuse of the characters would prevent it from being better.

I think this collection is still worth getting but if you go into it specifically because you want to play 3… honestly find a fan translation, it can’t be any worse than the official one.

Hey it’s the same day but here I am :-)

Starting with All of Us Strangers, I’d been meaning to watch it always but I very very seriously thought it was a purely “sexy” film, anticipated and lauded for its sexiness and nothing else. So today, part of my very extended long weekend, I was looking exclusively for romantic movies, something I reminded Imran of every 3 seconds as we scrolled through every streaming app… it was supposed to be Leap Year or Notting Hill, both of which I’ve seen over a dozen times and either of the two or umm literally anything else would have been an infinitely better choice for my general mood and happiness and hopefulness and sense of joy in this life and world…. By which I mean, this movie was just unbelievably and utterly shockingly depressing and needlessly so too honestly. I don’t really care about the source material cos meh idk anything about Japanese media as I am simply too intellectually lazy to engage in anything real these days so yea not knowing what the original novel (Strangers, Taichi Yamada, 1987) was about, as a movie I just don’t see why this had to go the way it did. I hate to say it of an Andrew Haigh film (when I saw his name flash across the title card I thought he had directed Lilting for some reason - which I’d loved and written about in 2015 for my IB film exam essay on intercultural male same-sex couples in movies lol seriously I love my old work ethic and curiosity and discipline!!! But anw no turns out I only know Andrew Haigh from Looking and Weekend and not Lilting) - especially given all the name drops in the parenthesis, it’s clear that I have found much enjoyment and pleasure in gay films throughout my teenage years till present but … think this movie honestly needn’t have been made if it was going to go in this direction, I’m so so so freaking serious. Just don’t fucking make it lol simple??! What’s a tale that’s completely barren of the singlest sliciest tiniest freaking speck of joy? What’s the point of it? What comes of it?????! Why the fuck do I have to sit through this??!

I’d compare it to The Haunting of Hill House in a way… in this, there were painful tragedies that spanned generations and presented with literal daily horrors in fresh ways but there was always a meaning to it, a direction the terrors were pushing our characters towards and an eventual peace amidst the shards still strewn across the ground but in Strangers lacking that, it just leaves us miserable honestly… so what’s the point? Everyone’s dead and he’s lost and alone and …? Is that life? Nah. Again, you must know how much it surprises me to say I don’t like a gay film which has not only the two main leads who did do so wonderfully and who I really like but also Jamie Bell who has had my heart since I watched the rented Billy Elliot DVD in my home like a decade and a half ago and also Claire Foy who I don’t know much but love by extension through my mother’s love for her… so with all that for me to say this film really pissed me off means so freaking much. I hate you!!!!!!!!!! Stupid depressing movie seemingly for the sake of merely depressing. Soooo cool wow 🙄🙄🙄 sadness isn’t the only deep emotion you guys know that right? Wake up la…

Actually wait as I’m typing this, I realise okay perhaps Adam (Andrew Scott)’s hopefulness in the film manifested in a way that presented itself to me as utter despair and depression but to him, perhaps imagining a full life and romance with his suicided-neighbour was indeed the equivalent of me looking for a new happy film? Do you know what I mean? What I’m saying is that perhaps I am a little wrong and perhaps the stupid idiot nonsense depressing film was intended as hopeful lol??? But in which case, it still sucks cos it wasn’t at all and IT IS DAMN IDIOT LA

I wanted to find a genuine real tangible amount of joy so I looked through yet more romance films and settled on Rye Lane which I’d never heard of:

Recognized the guy from Alien: Romulus which I’d just watched in cinemas with Jade and Imran a few months ago and which was such a nice experienceeee and this guy was so sweet and lovely in it and it seems to simply be a part of his authentic self as it transferred so well through the small screen this time around again and I love him yay!

Decided to write about these two very different films together under the header (Forever in a Day) which is my adaptation of Big K.R.I.T.’s 4eva N a Day which I just found so so so so so moving, something I used to listen to so so much years ago. Forever in a day, not and a day, because my world today had indeed just been contained within a day. Yet there has been so so so much within… the shock hurt frustration from All of Us Strangers before being followed by the genuine and surprisingly realistic mirth of Rye Lane. It’s been a lot for me on a day where I’d already been experiencing tonnes of discomfort from avoiding work and even avoiding thinking about thinking about work so you can imagine how much this world contained really.

The only thing I didn’t quite enjoy about Rye Lane was the little bit of manic pixie symptoms in the female characters writing but I think I wanted to like it enough that I was immune to it after a while and even felt rather charmed by it. And just like his Aliens character, this random actor whose name is David Jonsson for whatever reason is seriously too good la!! And I’ll use the word sweet again and again because it just seems to exude so authentically from his eyes…

Both films are very specifically London-based and London-laden and both cinematographically as well as conceptually the difference lies in the darkness (Strangers) vs bright colour (Lane), the aloneness vs the community, the stifled claustrophobia vs the expansive vulnerability most of all which had to be shared… actually im on a roll so let me present with more striking juxtapositions for the two films, not to compare them but to illustrate why the latter was so so needed for me on the same day the former consumed me: belatedness vs timeliness, post-fact reflection vs live introspection, ummmm ok wait im sure i have more genius up my sleeves… okay yes: all-consuming fear vs a radiating fear-driven gall and thrill, and stuckness vs movement.

You know the saddest thing is before Paul Mescal’s character was revealed to have been dead for 99% of Strangers without our knowledge, I was very ready to add the film into my top 30 movies of all time after a few more rewatches. I could deal with the dead parents being imagined as real and living given the whole healing his inner child plot line and I could deal with his imagined world differing greatly from reality until the fucking one singlest strand of happiness we could hold on to also proved to be mere gossamer that melted away… you know what I just realised - it’s so so so cheap and silly for Harry (Paul Mescal) to have been dead. If alive and if their relationship were “real”, was it not sad and tragic and haunting enough on its own? It was already such an insular experience, so utterly isolating even through its connectedness, so haunted by their own histories where they barely knew whether they each had the strength to even begin to want to reveal to one another. Is that not sad enough? Is that not already utterly provocative enough for audiences to connect with the deep and blue parts of our souls? Are we that simple minded that we only see sadness when Harry had to commit suicide? It’s a bit insulting actually the more I think about it. Like if sadness and grief was the goal, prettyyy sure we’re capable of feeling that from the start bruh 🙄 it was absolutely already what it needed to be before the cheap reveal imo. Seriously, Haigh got what he wanted already - we felt it along with the characters. We felt all their individual and mutual pain. Every single bit of the relationship was so so so so sad and we knew it. The movie was good guys…..but now it sucks af…..

So while neither of these two films would make it into my top favourites, they will both definitely stay with me and Rye Lane may not warrant a rewatch, it’s no Notting Hill but it was great great great fun honestly and I think finally after about 5 years of wallowing in a strange prison of predictability only (which explains my compulsion to rewatch old shows nonstop has gotten more and more limiting and unfulfilling than before), I am starting to see the beauty again in being more like the old maya who would dive in to so much so readily - knew little about these two films today, especially Rye, and hey look, it’s midnight and I’m hunched on my bed typing away to get my thoughts out so this is healthy and meaningful and much needed stimulation and I hope I hope to continue committing myself to this <3 to more movies and movies and movies and movies ahead!

I remember reading something about James (Austin's agent) only sending him scripts worth the time. I believe James is 100% looking out for Austin. If Austin is doing Heat 2, I think he's known for some time he got the part. He's just being coy about it. He did the same thing when asked about Dune (before he was announced as Feyd) "his lips were sealed". I don't know for certain about Heat 2 but all signs are pointing in that direction. So that's 3 projects at the very least.

I kinda feel like he had already been formally announced as having the role of Feyd when he was being asked about it though? 🤔

I recall him being very coy about the details of his character and what he would look like though. But I believe he had already snagged the role by the time he was being asked about it.

With Heat 2, he hasn't been formally announced. It's just been a lot of fan/media rumors swirling around. The fact that he has not DENIED the rumors however, make me go hmm.... 🤔😏

Ok so y'know that around the fandom you can find some teen MCs headcanons? (those are better than therapy yo-)

Here's my headcanon, RAD has different divisions that go from middle school to college/university (which is the brothers level of education). If the MC is still in highschool they are most likely to go with the demon kids their age, demon kids are way more open minded and friendly towards humans. since society is slowly opening up in the human world, i like to think that the same is happening with the other realms.

They see humans as more than just food, medias and fiction helped A LOT this mentality. So yea, the teen mc is warmly welcomed in their class, they might overwhelm them a little with tons of questions and might be more rough than the average highschool student but they're just curious!!

Demon kids tend to play fight or hunt down eatchother for fun so MC has to make it clear they don't want to partecipate. Also because once they came back with a few bruises because a girl pounced on them thinking they'd play along and the brothers were furious hsgdkshd.

If you thought gen z kids were the embodiment of chaos, think again. Gen z demons are WAY more chaotic. They also use human slang because they think it's cool, i can see them liking MC immediately if they quote memes and vines GSJSGS-

Can I request MC assuring Luke that it's okay for him to be a child, even if he doesn't want to believe he is one, and that he's super valid and important regardless, even if people are meanies about it sometimes? I'm so soft for that boy and I want him to enjoy his childhood more!!

Also, If Luke is ooc it's because i see him more open with MC and doesn't really notice that he's acting like the child he is!

Luke always seemed to try to act mature for his age, which is not a bad thing! But shouldn't he be enjoying his childhood while it lasts?

You often catch him looking at toys that seem to catch his eye whenever you, Simeon and him are going shopping but when he realizes you or the older angel are looking at him he would immediately scoff and deny everything.

So the following day you decided to go to that shop and buy the toys he was eyeing yesterday.

When you arrived at purgatory hall Luke was exstatic to see you, he tackled you into a hug and rambled about how he missed you and was glad that you were not followed by those mean demons!!

Then he noticed the colorful bag you were carrying.

"MC? What's inside that bag?"

You simply giggled and told him it's a surprise for him, Luke's eyes lit up in excitement and he immediately grabbed your sleeve jumping up and down like a kid on christmas.

You led him to his room and told him to close his eyes. Once you got his present you told him he could open them.

At first he's very flustered and thinks you're making fun of him, so it would take a lot of reassuring that you're not making fun of him and that you don't see him as a kid.

"MC!! Those are for children!"

"well, i'm not a kid and i'm still playing with them"

After a while he DOES start to play with the toys.

Only when he's sure he's alone or you're the only one around.

you two spent the whole afternoon playing.

Ah, Star Wars. "He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil." That line has so much to answer for.

Oh I agree, it has so, sooooooo much to answer for. Star Wars as a whole though has a fair bit of ableism problems within it that just are really gross and bad writing and it makes me sad because their is so much within Star Wars that I love but I cannot ignore the ableism that it portrays. Like how when Luke loses his hand he gets the pretty prosthetic that looks like a real hand so the audience can pretend that he never lost a limb. The other movies just don't even bring it up and I almost forgot he lost his hand until we saw him at the end of the Force Awakens. And then there's the whole Vader thing as you said, he's evil so he gets evil and scary prosthetics and he's called a machine and robotic and inhuman. People like to ignore the whole Vader thing because Luke lost his hand, but that doesn't erase the issues that how they wrote Vader present certain disabilities.

In another star Wars Media their is this whole gross arc involving Kanan from Star Wars Rebels which....oh it makes my blood boil thinking about the whole thing.....this is getting long so more under the cut also spoilers for anyone who doesn't want to get spoiled for major events in the show and the endgame for the series. I go on kind of a rant so uhhhh yea.

Now in Star Wars Rebels Kanan, a padawan who survived order 66 and was left with severe PTDS and trauma from the event where he watched his master die by his friends hands, was blinded at the end of season 2. This wasn't an issue at first. A lot of fans where excited to see how Kanan's blindness would affect him and the dynamic moving forward....only it didn't.

Kanan for the most part, navigated his surroundings with no issues, we don't see him having to relearn how to navigate or fight, hell we even see him shooting other ships with the turrets from The Ghost and I want to say he even flies the damn ship but I couldn't tell you what episode that happened in. In the first episode of Season 3 we do see he's retreated and isolating himself from everyone for....uh reasons? IRL reason is they kind of have to scramble to figure out what to do with Kanan because his VA needed time off so they kind of have to throw together a reason to sideline him but this unfortunately led to a situation where Kanan doesn't get to explore the newfound trauma from being blinded or having to adapt at all to his new blindness.

And if you thought that was bad it gets worse. So....much later on in a series of events I can only describe as a way to force Kanan into a situation that led to his death, he winds up ontop of a massive fuel container where the Empire shoots it to blow it up and Kanan stays behind to hold back the explosion so his family can escape....

Now on its own this doesn't sound to bad right? The issues are that one, Kanan was the ONLY disabled character in the show, another character who should really have suffered some sort of permanent leg damage walks away completely unharmed which is uhhhh questionable, he's also the character who has suffered the most trauma and is shown to suffer from PTSD. Worse, the force itself is shown to literally in Kanan's dying moments be given his sight back so he can see his family one last time before dying a horribly painful death. The show then further rubs salt in the wound by having the force itself for the second time intervene to ensure Ahsoka does not die which tells me the force can and will save those from death it deems worthy of living but decided Kanan dying fully able bodied was more important then him living disabled, despite Kanan doing exactly what the force told him to with Kanan knowing he would die doing it.

It's....hard with Star Wars because all of these instances of ableism technically where done by different writers but at the same time....why didn't anyone say anything? Why did so many people agree with all of these various instances of ableism within all the different medias? And I know I am forgetting some stuff because either I didn't watch it or forgot about it, but the point still remains that so many different forms of media just have blatant ableism that people happily write off because they don't want to talk about their favorite show, book or whatever have. But if we don't talk about it....nothing will ever change
