with natalie, she appreciates Maren’s quiet and her no-bullshit approach to survival. they sometimes share cigarettes or sit in silence without needing to talk. nat might say, “You’re weird, but you’re alright.”

with shauna, she doesn't really get Maren. she doesn’t dislike her, but there’s a fundamental disconnect. she’s unnerved by how Maren can just sit in the dark and stare into the trees for hours.

with van, she jokes with Maren sometimes, tries to get her to smile. She doesn’t fully trust her though, she thinks Maren knows more than she lets on.

with taissa, she doesn’t love how much influence Lottie has on Maren and how much Maren feeds into Lottie's weird wilderness cult. she doesn’t say it outright, but she thinks Maren feeds into Lottie’s delusions...or worse, believes them too.

with misty, she wants to be close to Lottie too, and she notices that Maren gets all of Lottie’s attention. she even tries to befriend Maren at first, but when Maren doesn’t reciprocate, Misty gets weird.

with mari, akilah, and gen, they think Maren is weird, like Lottie. some are afraid of both of them, especially when they do rituals together.

with melissa, she watches Maren closely, and how Maren and Lottie's relationship weirdly parallel her own relationship with shauna. Melissa starts to hate how untouched Maren is. not physically, Maren is bruised, thin, like all of them, but emotionally, she seems safe. She has Lottie’s full protection. Melissa is cold to Maren, quietly spiteful. making comments such as, “I guess some people get firewood duty, and some people just… sit in the woods drawing bones.” Lottie doesn't allow this, defending or comforting Maren in front of her, it kills Melissa.

after the rescue their ways split, just like with others. anka didn't want that, but she wasn't sure if she had a right to ask natalie to stay. then, anka found out that during her time in the wilderness, her mother died of a stroke. they never were close, not really. their relationships could be barely described as warm. and yet it made anka feel like she was completely alone in the whole world. her valued solitude became suffocating loneliness. she was broke and still woke up in a cold sweat every night.

it's months before she tries to take an overdose. but it doesn't work. not enough, or maybe wrong pills, but the next morning she wakes up. and that's when she begins to try to live again, not just exist.

anka finds a kitten on the street, the same day. fluffy calico cat who meowed loudly enough for anka to take a look in the box near the trash can.

she takes her home. small and loud. and then, anka tries to move on, but she never quite succeeds.

• phew, that was a long time since i made any kind of edits, but i think it looks... tolerable.

• anka actually has a very... interesting relationships with death. all people anka ever cared about are dead, every day she cuts dead people open and she's being paid for that, she likes to collect butterflies, taking dead ones from her colleague who keeps them as pets, she tried to kill herself twice, winning russian roulette for weeks until she didn't.

quick clear up— this is NOT my experience. (shoutout to my dad!! he’s awesome and I love him!!) please don’t read this one if there’s a possibility of it triggering bad memories. im willing to change anything that doesn’t seem necessary or feels incorrect, but this is the backstory i have created for my character and it is the one that properly contextualizes her experiences most.

happy (late because this was supposed to be done yesterday) father’s day. i hope your dad is nothing like Ivy and Lucas’s

✮ Ivy’s dad never truly treated Ivy like a daughter, even though she had his features. She was Lucas’s sister and her mom’s daughter; not his.

✮ this is because Ivy wasn’t a planned pregnancy. they hadn’t wanted a second kid, but when they saw how excited Lucas was about having a little sibling, they knew that they had to go through with it.

✮ the marriage had been strained before that— Ivy’s dad drank a lot, and Ivy’s mom didn’t like that.

✮ after the second child, he had to work more and ended up drinking a lot in the evenings.

✮ he never physically harmed or assaulted Ivy when he was inebriated. when the night drinking turned into day-drinking, he stopped showing up to Ivy’s events (he’d already stopped showing up to Lucas’s) and got far more snappy.

✮ (keep in mind Lucas is six years older than Ivy!!! he’s seen the day drinking and is old enough to know what it means and notice the difference.)

✮ one of the only good memories Ivy had of her father was when he went on a walk with her. he’d been drunk, which Ivy hadn’t noticed because she was eight.

✮ he’d taken the ribbon out of Ivy’s hair— a white one with pretty lace— and tied it around a tree “so they wouldn’t get lost”.

✮ he’d promised they’d get it when they went back around, but they hadn’t passed by it. she’d been sad about it (as an eight year old would be) and it’d started raining on their way back.

✮ she’d went crying to her mom, cold and wet, and her mom had been FURIOUS at him for not looking into the weather or even just looking at the fucking clouds in the sky.

✮ her parents had fought that day. badly. it was the worst fight she’d ever seen them have, and from the looks of it, they’d done it often.

✮ her dad had walked out into the storm after that. Ivy had ran after him, crying, screaming for him to come back.

✮ “dad! d-daddy, please, where are you going?! Dad!!”

✮ Lucas (who was fourteen) had come after her and held her in the rain while her mom retreated up to her room. It was him who’d given her a warm bath afterwards and let her sleep in his room while their mom cried.

“Don’t ask him to stay, vee. He won’t.”

“Why not?” // “Because he’s bad.”

✮ the next day, Lucas had gone back to get the ribbon. it was tattered and dirty so he’d went and bought a new one, pretending it was the same. Ivy was elated.

✮ when her dad had come back to get his things (a few months later— Ivy was nine by now) she saw him hit her mom.

✮ she’d ran up to Lucas’s room and let him hold her, burying her face in his neck and shaking.

“why’d he do that?” // “I don’t know, Veevee. I don’t know but I’ll protect you, okay?”

“I don’t think he’s coming back.” // “…yeah. Me neither.”

✮ When Ivy thought she was old enough to know what happened (thirteen), she’d asked Lucas (nineteen) about him. And he’d told her everything.

✮ it made Ivy feel sick, but she couldn’t stop herself from asking questions.

“Had he hit her before?” // “Yeah.”

“Did he hit you?” // “…only if I intervened.”

✮ when he’d told her that, she’d burst into tears and just wrapped him in the tightest hug. he’d been surprised for a moment until he’d felt her tears on his shirt and then he’d just sighed.

“I’m sorry I asked him to stay.” // “Don’t be. Mom let him.”

“But why?” // “She loved him. Or…wanted to. But he didn’t love us.”

“I’m sorry, Luke.” // “You don’t have to be.”

“You were a kid, Vee. // “So were you.”

✮ that was when he’d really stiffened, frozen completely, and then he’d crumpled and started crying, letting his own tears fall into her hair as he gave her the firmest hug he could.

“How are you so smart? You’re like ten.”

✮ she hadn’t responded. just hugged him tighter as they both cried.

✮ their dad had tried to come back a few times (because he got drunk / high…) but Ivy never knew (she wasn’t told) and he’d never asked about her.

✮ the only time she knew about this happening was when Ivy was fourteen and Lucas was twenty.

✮ Ivy had answered the door, and Lucas had been in the kitchen. He’d froze, dropping the glass he was holding, the perfect expression of controlled fear on his face.

✮ Ivy had paused, and she’d only looked back when their dad had addressed Lucas directly. Ivy barely even heard what he’d said, just caught that he’d said “scared, boy? Come here, let me get a look at you.”

✮ he’d pushed forward, and Ivy had pushed back, screaming in his face.

“No! You don’t get to talk to him!”

✮ Her dad had stilled, clearly furious. “I can talk to whoever I want. I’m your father.”

“No you’re not. You haven’t been my dad in years.”

✮ That had pissed him off, and before she could react, he’d grabbed her by the front of her shirt and tugged her close.

“Listen here you little brat—“

She could hear Lucas taking a step forward. “Get your hands off her!”

“Shut up!”

✮ Ivy had just barely managed to not flinch back at how close he was as he screamed. She just stood there and let him yell in her face, and when he was done, she just whispered “you’re not my dad. you’re a pathetic excuse for a human with a smaller dick than your brain.”

✮ Her dad’s grip on her shirt tightened. “Let me talk to the boy.”

✮ She could hear Lucas’s breath catch behind her. He’d never admit to being scared, but she didn’t have to look behind her to know he was.

“No. You don’t get to. You’re going to leave, now, or I’m going to call the police.”

“You’re protecting him? You’re protecting him from me? I’m his father!”

“No, you’re not. You’re an abusive sonofabitch, and he’s a far better man than you’ll ever be!”

“You’re just like your bitch of a mother,” he spat, shoving her with so much force it sent her stumbling backwards. “Forget it. He’s not worth it anyway.”

✮ oh, fuck no. she wasn’t going to let that be the last thing Lucas heard.

“He’s more worth it than you! He’s more of a father than you ever were and it wasn’t even his job to be. So just get OUT!! Get out and don’t come back, just fucking LEAVE!!”

✮ it took some more screaming and shoving, but he did eventually leave.

✮ Once he was gone, she shut the door and slumped against it with a sigh. she turned to where Lucas was standing in the kitchen, staring at her with wide eyes. He looked terrified, very uncharacteristically so. She could see his hands shaking.

“Are you okay?” He stepped forward, pausing a few feet in front of her, hands hovering as though he wanted to touch her but wasn’t sure if he’d be allowed.

“Did he hurt you?” // “No, I-..I’m fine.”

“You didn’t have to do that. He could’ve-...” // “I won’t let him hurt you. Never again. Not when I stood by so much.”

“It’s not your job to protect me. That should be the other way around.” // “It’s not your job either. You’re not my dad.”

“Yeah, but you deserve to have one.” // “Not if he sucks.”

✮ Ivy didn’t feel jealous of all the other girls who had good dads from then on. She had her brother— that was enough for her.

She's lauded as a celebrity when she returns and is there to greet the other girls when they're rescued. "Oh my god, hi!! Did you guys make friends with the wolves too? Lol I remember getting soooo spooked when I kept hearing this ghostly screaming sound and thought for a few seconds the wilderness was alive or something before I stumbled on some freaky frogs having sex! XD Did you guys hear that too?"

YAAY joining the DC oc club ����🏻‍♂️ meet my girl, her name is Meave Marlowe/Stardawn and if that wasn’t clear from the big ass S on her chest she’s a super skjsk

Human name: Meave Marlowe

Kryptonian name: Mea’el

Age: 21

Meave was abducted by the dominators as a newborn in one of the MANY invasions that happen in metropolis

She was experimented on and they fused her with kryptonian dna, (the aliens were searching a compatible race for it)

It was supposed to be a long time investment, they wanted to create a weapon they could indoctrinate and have full control over.

Kind of like Kon 2.0 but less impatient (Don’t ask me where they found the dna sjkks it’s not clark’s that’s for sure lol)

Superman of course saved the day and she went back in her family’s arms safe and sound.

He didn’t notice though that the damage was already done.

Her kriptonian genes stayed quiet for all of her childood and adolescence apart from random outbursts of strength or things sporadically catching fire.

She’s kinda strange and socially awkward but that’s no alien influence.

She lived a relatively normal life in metropolis and never had a traumatic event that could trigger sleeping Kryptonian genes.

That’s until she moves to gotham to study in gotham art academy!

Like every true gothamite she HAS to get mugged in a dark alley by some lowlife (meta or not doesn’t matter)

It’s a rite of passage!

The shock activated the sleeping genes and BAM she’s not entirely human anymore, oh and she’s also very much not in control of her new powers anymore

Obviously batman and robin are already on it and clark is immediately called to sedate the situation.

Clark and his family will help Meave learn how to use her powers and understand herself better.

The krypotonian name is clark’s courtesy since it’s already been a year since she came in their life and she’s basically a honorary member of the family.

Now that she has a grasp on her general powers (flying is still a work in progress) she thinks it would be selfish not putting them to good use

But she feels left behind when she compares herself to all those young heroes who are already way more skilled than her

lottie's little lamb (aka laura lee's replacement in her bed)

Lottie notices Maren following her around after her friend's death, and takes note of how she looks at her. with hope filling her eyes. Maren doesn’t talk much, but when she does it's to defend Lottie's actions and to convince the others she believes in her. When Lottie is beaten by Shauna, it's Maren who hand feeds Lottie and even hand bathes her. Lottie is possessive over Maren in a spiritual and emotional way. If anyone talks badly about her or threatens her, Lottie snaps. Maren isn't scared of Lottie, even when Lottie’s visions get intense. They sleep curled up together in the cold, often letting Lottie whisper about how the wilderness gave Maren to her.

about her: oldest martinez sibling, a little bit self absorbed, lottie’s on again off again gf, currently alive in adult timeline, tries to be positive, tries to be motherly figure to her brothers, sarcastic, protective, kind of obsessive, would listen to lana del rey if teen in modern timeline, kind of a mix of jackie, nat and lottie

pre crash (tw - sex work mentioned): 18, apart of the student council and volleyball team, dealing with undiagnosed anxiety and bpd, typical ‘overachiever perfectionist’ stereotype, had applied to columbia and got in on full scholarship, hides the fact that she’s broke from people, formerly worked at strip clubs before crash to get her family some money, had sex/relationships with a lot of shady/older people,

during crash: wasn’t as good as hunting as travis and nat but could still do it, so whenever one of them wasn’t up for it/couldn’t do it, adriana would step in, would usually pretend everything’s okay and would try and keep a smile on her face but when javi died, and travis wouldn’t talk to her, adriana started breaking down and isolating herself, sad cause she lost both of her brothers

relationship with lottie during crash: they got together between s1 and s2. once everyone started worshipping lottie, she would give her less chores and special treatment since adriana was her gf, which pissed off plenty of people (especially mari since she wanted lottie’s attention and shauna since she wanted leadership), lottie was very possessive of adriana and adriana was very possessive of lottie, but their personalities clashed often, and in between lottie and nats leadership, adriana took over after a fight with lottie, and she was one of the people who suggested the ‘drawing cards and hunting’ in the first place, so she blames herself for javi’s death, and when adriana was obviously in no place to lead, everyone suggested they follow lottie again, which is when lottie suggested they follow nat instead, which strains her relationship with nat but ultimately adriana still supports her in hopes that’ll get her and travis back together

post rescue: after the rescue, she also got sent to a psych ward, but a different one then lottie, nowhere near as exotic as in switzerland, she still gets horribly treated though, adriana and lottie don’t really keep in touch but occasionally they do get involved, she tired sending adriana money as well since lottie knew adriana’s financial situation, but adri declined, she tries and keep in touch with nat and travis as well but they’re dealing with their own problems so she’s kind of alone, found out about lottie’s death through misty separately/before the other yjs, even though she doesnt trust misty really she immediately agreed to help mistys investigation of lotties death(travnat is canon for the majority of the teen timeline but i imagine right before nats death her having a convo with adriana that implies her and misty are sort of a situationship)

★ Ivy and Jackie didn’t talk a whole lot throughout the beginning of their time in the wilderness

★ when the group was at the lake, Ivy’d been staring a little bit because, well, holy shit she was gay.

★ Britt noticed, which then alerted Robin, and they dared Ivy to go talk to her.

★ she was going to, but Jackie saw her coming over and she totally chickened out. Britt teased her relentlessly. Ivy blamed her red face on the lack of sunscreen.

★ Ivy and Jackie only really spoke in passing. Ivy asked if she was okay every so often because she noticed a slight dip in her mood. Jackie either lied and said yes or just told her not to worry about it.

★ The first real conversation they ever had was before Doomcoming. Ivy wasn’t very good with makeup and had very timidly, asked Jackie to help her, to which she agreed.

★ Ivy kind of sat there and fidgeted while Jackie worked her magic until Jackie asked “dressing up for anybody?”

★ to this, Ivy quietly replied: “Robin,” and Jackie went quiet. Ivy thought she’d said something wrong, but then Jackie had just shrugged and smiled.

★ “Good for you. Wish I had that sort of confidence.”

★ Ivy wanted to ask what she meant, but was scared to upset her, so she just flushed and looked down.

★ “You’re kidding, right? I wish I was more like you.”

★ “No you don’t, Parker. No you don’t.”

★ When Jackie finished, she smiled up at her. “Go get her.”

★ Ivy had smiled and given a little salute. “Yes ma’am!”

★ Ivy had looked a little worried at this point because Jackie had looked visibly upset. She’d tried to lessen the tensions.

★ “You look really pretty.” Pause. “Jeff’s a lucky guy.”

★ Jackie had sort of winced when she brought up Jeff. “Yeah, he is.”

★ Ivy’d felt awful, so she’d just dropped it. The two had sat in a sort of awkward silence until Jackie broke it again and asked about Robin.

★ The most notable part of the conversation was Ivy asking if she was okay again, and Jackie just shrugging it off. “I’ll be happy when I’m dead.”

★ Ivy had froze, horrified, and shed given Jackie an awkward sort of side hug before hearing Robin call her name. “Good luck with Travis.”

★ during the Shauna fight, Ivy was standing off to the back with Robin, horrified. She didn’t say anything because she was scared to go against the group.

★ Ivy could see the signs of Jackie’s depression / suicidal ideation and didn’t know what to do about it.

★ When she saw that Jackie had went outside, she was really worried. Robin and Britt had tried to convince her to go outside, but she’d just turned away.

★ “I think this is what she wants. I think she wants to be alone.”

★ when she woke up the next day and Jackie was dead, she just felt numb. She let Robin cry into her shoulder and stood there blankly for a little too long before she turned away and led Robin inside.

★ she went to the meat shed a few times, both in mourning and to avoid the other girls.

★ she’d drawn a drawing of Jackie and wrote “I hope you’re happier up there” on the back of it. She tucked it on the inside of her jacket.

★ when it came to actually eating Jackie, she could barely make herself to it. she just closed her eyes and apologized over and over and over, squeezing Robin’s hand tight.

★ she blamed it on survival. thats what it was. she couldn't blame herself for it, not when Jackie had let it happen.
