Listen-
Cell Block Tango but with female muses.
I know I voiceclaimed Abena with Deidre Goodwin (June's actress) before and I still stand by it, but her story and vocal range is also very Velma Kelly so fuckit, someone else can be June. And now I am picturing the love interests of my own muses taking on other roles.
It's okay, you can shoot Phi in the head for popping gum or Rashid having six wives or have Gio walk into your kitchen knife ten times, they won't mind, they fucking love this shit in theatre.

On radblr, in my early twenties, now what is likely 10 years ago (which, it's hard to remember when I started actually feminist positing on tumblr in earnest), I used to write about rape a lot more. I think my younger self felt invigorated not so much about the conversation of rape (of course, it's horrific), but by being angry and political about it. Being able to articulate complex, feminist ideas about rape, and have likeminded women engage. It felt intellectual and important, while a form of my own conscious raising. As I've aged, I find it harder. I can only say so many things, over and over again. It was never not hard, or depressing, or angering, but where the bad feelings once felt righteous and worth experiencing for the sake of speaking towards truth, now it can feel ineffective and exploitative.
I'm not saying one way is right, the other is wrong. I think (speaking broadly of course) that this is a part of aging. I think there is some truth about the patterns we see between young people and their thoughts and abilities, and then aging out of them. I think, speaking politically, younger and older activists need each other because two perspectives work in congress: the young passion that can be short sighted and ideological, and the elder pragmatism that can fall into complicity. These two perspectives together can be stronger than when apart. It's always more complicated than that, and each person is different, but I do think the trend of "I'm full of energy and angry and shocked and won't faulter" giving way to "I'm going to be measured and find priorities and perhaps become more lenient" is a general trend that is true. You get older and you realize both how short time is and how much longer you get to live it, and constant anger is not only exhausting, but it can be counterproductive. What's more, is that not only do your responsibilities increase, but some of those responsibilities also rub up against the very "machine" you used to rail against. You can achieve a lot with money, and to gain money you have to work. You gain money, you can start increasing your circle of influence, but then that increases the people you need to take care of. You need to take care of people, then you need to buy things. Suddenly, what seemed so easy being young and living off a shoestring budget 10 years ago seems irrational and dangerous today. I need to feed my dog, I need to help my sister, I can't expect my parents to live forever, I want to retire one day, I can bet on declining health...on and on. I'm speaking about myself in many ways, but I'm also trying to gesture to the larger trend generally. Extrapolate as it suits you, I think more of you than you realize will find yourself re-evaluating what actually isn't reconcilable as you get older. It's both hard to swallow and yet...like a toad in boiling water, you're almost not surprised looking back and realizing how much has changed and how right so many adults were when you were younger.
And so to this point, my intellectual posts about rape decreased. Never completely out of the fight, but being more specific about my time, my energy. Opting out of discussions that were too triggering, being more careful about my word choices. Understanding the harm that can come from being combative towards strangers on a public platform. Realizing that some periods of my life could be dedicated to enriching my life and creating enjoyment, and that meant certain things could be put on the backburner. Just because I wasn't writing, doesn't mean I wasn't thinking. I didn't need external validation (especially from strangers on tumblr) that my time was being well spent when it came to observing the news and thinking about it. I know what goes on in my head, putting it into a public post didn't make it more true. I'm not so sure I had the same belief at 22/23/24, etc. I think whether I would have articulated it that way, I think I felt like what went on in my head was meaningless unless it was being crafted into a message that had some sort of impact, with tumblr being my main platform to do that. I don't think that way now. I think my thoughts have value even if I keep them to myself, which means when I really have something I think is worth sharing on tumblr, I can craft it more precisely if and when I find the time. Or at least that's my goal as a 30-something, and I don't think that was as explicit of a goal as a 20-something who just wanted to get every thought down because it felt like my brain was being turned on for the first time.
But something that is coming into focus with the accusations of Gaiman that I haven't really reckoned with, or at least not as much as I have the past 24 hours & past 6 months, is that while I aged privately and passively by blog followed suit, is that the landscape of tumblr has evolved around me. I think there's a trick my brain has played on me: that at the end of the day, something of what I engaged with on radblr 10 years ago still exists. And, yes, to an extent, there are some women here I've followed for the entire time (but they have also aged...). But my followers have increased and decreased and increased and decreased with every stupid post that goes viral, and as I've aged and remained on tumblr, many many more women have aged and bowed out. It's becoming increasingly clear that I have a lot of young women following me who are not my age, and did not see those posts, mine and others. The "classics" that live large in my mind but weren't viral hits, just radblr discourses of the week. Some of these young women have a wildly different online experience than I did, and I think I knew but didn't know know the difference 10 years makes when growing up on the internet. I never had twitter, some of you are "twitter expats." I remember when youtube was people uploading 20 second home videos, some of you only know youtube as the long form video essay platform. I remember events like they were yesterday that are already erased in the public consciousness. Some of you were coming into your own during the "Me Too" movement and gave it so much credence, where I was not surprised nor expected much from it. Now I can see how we retroactively talk about it like it was such a bombshell, when most women I knew at the time, even "normie" women were, like, "yeah duh." I also haven't really reckoned with the fact that it's been long enough era of the "new algorithm" that there are (although young) full-grown adults who don't remember the internet before it.
The conversations I took for granted on tumblr are changing. To be sure, there are still a lot of women on tumblr who are likeminded to myself, making amazing posts that are good, true, & eye-opening. I'm not panicking that the "landscape" has changed so much that I can't recognize anything anyone says anymore, and that ""real"" feminism has dried up and disappeared when I stopped looking. But I want to say some things about rape that I believe are ideas that were shared between a collection of women that I deeply associated with on here a long time ago that maybe isn't explicitly talked about in these terms as frequently as I used to experience. I want to say some things that I used to say all the time that I think I assumed that "everyone knows" I say "these things" and "think these ways" - when maybe I haven't been so explicit in so long that people don't know, or haven't seen me speak these things before.
And so, some thoughts on rape:
Rape as a word is known to be an evil act, and therefore people (men and women) will speak of it as if they are against it. However, rape as it functions in our life is seen as a necessity. This is why people can speak out of two sides of their mouth about it. Rape is a concept of evil, but it is not an evil action. Why? Because women are meant to be raped. This is what's understood: women are inherently rape-able. Women are not sexual beings, they are sexual objects. They are incubators, and they create lust in men, which is what unravels the virture of men.
When a man rapes a women, the ultimate evil is that the man's virtue was corrupted, not the woman's. These ideas aren't explicitly articulated by anyone, but they are patterns at the heart of rape myths. It is a "shame" that a man "lost his will" because he happened across an "object" that "tricked him" into being "bestial", something that is ultimately excusable because man is beast. Is woman beast? No, she is not man.
If a man can resist, he is the paradigm of virtue; if he can't it's because she was too rape-able to remain virtuous. This is how men know they are rapists but don't agree they are rapists. They know they do the necessary action of raping, they disagree it's the same as the agreed upon concept of Rape. Rape that is evil is some monstrous other using these women as they are reserved for men.
When it suits men of a community, they can use this idea against other men they want to other. When it doesn't suit men, no man can be monstrous because all men are brothers, and so rape ceases to exist. You can't rape my daughter, unless you marry her, then do as you please. You can't rape madonnas, unless she is a whore, then do as you please. You can't rape my women, but if they're your women, do as you please. These ideas are not concrete convictions, they will morph to suit the man at the center of the rape accusation. A rapist who date-rapes might very well feel righteous anger when it happens to his sister. He can and will find a way to excuse whatever he did as part of some normal paradigm, a way he must act or should act, or a thing that is excusable for him. The inconsistency of this logic does not matter, because it does not suit him, and therefore does not suit male supremacy.
I say this all because, even though I'm appalled by the reaction of Gaiman's fans online, who are both men and women, and who can only fucking think of how they consume media (truly unbelievable and juvenile), I am simply not surprised. In so many ways, Gaiman's victims were rape-able, and that's why in so many ways his fans can readjust the variables of the situation and come up with some sort of conclusion of how it is rape, but it isn't Rape. Maybe she liked it sometimes, maybe she is misremembering. Maybe he was just confused on the terms of consent.
But what's more important to them is that they give credence to the idea that of course Rape is Evil, because they are good people who must think that way. What they're trying to convince themselves, and what can seem like they are speaking another language, is that this isn't Rape, this is rape. And so it's not that "she is misremembering" means she wasn't raped, but that she was raped in such a way that is the natural order of things. Man, who is a virtuous human and a beast, raped a sexual object who can only expect to exist so long in the world before tempting a man. This seems so obvious to most people. Feminists seem so intense and crazed, because they are centering something that is unnatural to most: a woman's experience as a human, not an object.
It comes natural to these fens to ask: "How can I enjoy my tv show knowing so many people think my hero is a capital R Rapist, when that's philosophical idea on evil and not a material reality, when I don't want people to think I don't take the capital R Rape idea as a serious evil." They are having two conversations in tandem. One is the idea that of course it's possible for Rape to exist, it's possible for some monstrous other to exist, but this man is not a monstrous other, because he is just a man. And men rape, that's just how it goes, because women are rape-able.
I'm condensing many ideas I have about rape into something simplified, for the sake of a tumblr post. And I got there in a circulus way, but I want to encourage the "old guard" who is still here, or women that agree with me above, that although they don't need to, if they have the time to speak more about rape as an intentional weapon against women, to do so. I think there are many ways the political conversation about rape for young women is first happening online, and I think the popular discourse is going sideways. A blind leading the blind moment. This is not a value judgement, but I'm gobsmacked at some things that are said as if they are "given" feminist talking points, that fall outside my understanding of rape as a feminist. Things like equalizing the complicity of Palmer with Gaiman's actions, rationalizing certain sexual proclivities as rooted in some innate sexuality, creating a hierarchy of which actions were worse for which victims, and so on. In many ways, also not surprising, par for the course for how feminism is generally spoken about. What is surprising to me is the confidence of speaking this way, and being convinced of their transgressive ideas. I think feminist online discourse must be so dire that the needle moving to some mid-point in a woman might convince her she's quite enlightened, when there's so much more she could learn. I think this idea that "libfems" are actually women who are clearly anti-feminist has convinced a lot of women that they are "good feminists" by engaging with ideas that are at odds at all with blatant conservatism, that it might be mystifying that they are quite centrist in comparison from many feminist talking points 10 to 20 years ago, at least as it appears to me. I'm speaking broadly, I know, but I had to get some thoughts down. Some angry part of me still exists and I do still feel the need to discuss rape, if only to show some young woman that there really is a deeply radical way you can think of rape that perhaps you hadn't thought of before.
As always, I'm open to critiques about anything in this post.

Hey, so I don't want to be that guy, but when are we going to acknowledge that Akechi was right?
No, I obviously don't mean about the things he was very clearly wrong about. I'm referring to the things he says in interviews about the Phantom Thieves. I hate how many people switch up after playing through his betrayal who previously agreed with his views, because nothing he said is wrong and nothing he did changes that fact. He speaks in the TV Station on the objective facts that he should know about, and with or without the context of his form of justice those facts stay true. It's a fallacy to claim that his form of justice being universally less approved of makes the Phantom Thieves better by comparison, or discredits anything he said. I don't think the Phantom Thieves are evil, or that they should necessarily be imprisoned, but I do think that they are not morally sound. They're kids. Prior to his betrayal I think he served his purpose well, but it's easy to disregard the validity of his words when you find out that he's a murderer. With the knowledge he SHOULD have had (and that many DID have), everything he says is true. And honestly? It still can be true for basically the entire plot of the game. Mishima's confidant tests the thieves in that way. They could have changed the hearts of anyone who's not a persona user, for any personal reason. It's a slippery slope.
I'll use these three options as an example for why he's right:
Tumblr media
"They're justice itself" is just subjective and incorrect, because justice as a concept is individualized and given how each Phantom Thief has different reasons for being one it's ridiculous for even them to say. Their first target was before they even formed a group, and Ann was ready to kill Kamoshida. The others were not even going to step in, and they were going to respect her choice either way. All the members are so different, so this is an insane claim to make.
"They're necessary" is wrong because to say they are necessary is pretty disingenuous to all "justice" that has ever happened BEFORE they existed. I don't believe that the Thieves were a necessity per say, and personally I think their actions can only be judged on a case by case basis. Some Mementos targets for example have issues that stem beyond what they have done. Now they have their desires stolen but still have the issue that pushed them to immortality in the first place, plus a shitton of guilty baggage. The Thieves only help with the atonement, but not the push. How many of those people didn't just go right back to their past behaviors? How many of them got worse in other ways? Think about Futaba, she felt so guilty for something she thought she did, she formed a palace to condemn herself to die alone. To claim the Thieves are necessary to reform society implies that their method is the most effective, and I think that's a lot to claim for something they don't understand.
"They do more than the cops" I almost agree with. Legally the police in Japan in this game anyway (yes I'm aware it extends to reality in many ways, but I'm referring to just the game right now) are corrupt and flawed for the most part, but the thing I don't agree with is that this makes the Thieves a better alternative. They're not. For the same reason Yoshizawa says later, the Thieves can only do so much as vigilantes, and to imply that society should rely on these faceless nameless flawed people to fix society is not any better than what they have now. Especially with the method being unknown, potentially unsafe, and easily exploitable. I cannot be the only one who if the Phantom Thieves were real, would be extremely alarmed by the prospect of a group of vigilantes "changing hearts" right? It's so vague, and the pattern is dystopian. At least police methods are familiar
What I'm saying is that they're kids, and it's kind of insane that this game places Akechi as the narrative foil for the Thieves in their message and then makes it so easy to disregard because "he's an assassin so how could he know anything about justice". The Thieves don't either, and Ann was nearly a murderer. If the bar is "don't commit murder when you're infiltrating someone's mind" then it's far too low. I wouldn't trust a group of adults with this power to reform society, even less a group of teenage vigilantes. I'm 19, and I find this odd. And Strikers frames them as even more righteous, and it bugs me even more in that game. At least Royal has the third semester to give a bit more nuance to how big of a responsibility Ren was given, but that's also very frequently misinterpreted.
I love this game, and I love this fandom, and I have thoughts that get weird and ranty. I apologize, but I hope you all found this as interesting as I did.

Queer folks and other minorities (including women!!) are hurting right now. You feel betrayed by your compatriots and that's completely understandable. What I'm about to say does not challenge the validity of your feelings.
Some Trump voters are racist and bigoted and that's why they like Trump. Statistics and exit polls show this statistic is lower than you'd expect with a 51% popular vote. For most Trump voters, they're voting for economic reasons. They have been lead astray by media and institutions they trusted. Their opinions have been manipulated. Their lack of understanding about economics and politics has been exploited. They don't really like the racism or bigotry but it's not a deal-breaker for them (in exactly the same way as literal genocide wasn't a deal-breaker for Harris voters).
A lot of Trump voters who don't understand Trump wasn't the reason the economy was better 4 years ago are about to get a rude shock. They're about to lose their healthcare. Their benefits. Their family and friends are about to be deported. Their daughters, wives and other family members who can get pregnant will be harrassed and perhaps even have their lives put at risk by abortion bans. They are about to discover what they really voted for.
IF YOU WANT CHANGE AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, YOU MUST EMBRACE THEM AND WELCOME THEM INTO THE ANTI-TRUMP FOLD.
YOU MUST WELCOME THEM.
YOU CANNOT TURN YOUR NOSE UP AT THEM AND MAKE FUN OF THEM AND CALL THEM STUPID BIGOTS.
One of things often cited in focus groups that turns people off the democrats is the elitist snubbing of 'stupid people' or 'uneducated people'. Uneducated does not mean immoral and bad, it just means someone who's easier to manipulate and is therefore more likely to be a victim of a manipulative campaign.
Beating facism depends on people making alliances with other people who have wronged them in the past. It means teaming up with people who are 'problematic' or don't have perfect politics.
When people start realising what they voted for, hold your nose and comfort them, and accept their apologies if they give them. Validate their betrayal, and then talk about what happens next.
Building alliances is a stepping stone in defeating fascism.

re: being "groomed" into radical feminism
i was raised by a (non-radical but shares some beliefs) feminist mom who was super anti-porn (irl porn due to exploitation) and always taught me to stand up to misogyny. throughout my life she's been the biggest advocate and protector of me through medical misogyny, ableism in the school system, and helping fight for justice against poorly handled sexual harassment reports i made against classmates who'd been inappropriate to me.
i went through puberty during gamergate, an era of "feminist cringe comps" and buzzfeed manspreading videos. i was in comp-sci and stem spaces, surrounded by these sweaty hentai addict nerds, some even grown men breathing down my neck for being a "female who plays real video games" *pushes up nerd glasses* no matter what community it was, coding, anime, furry fandom, my local gsa spaces, there was always a permeating stench of male supremacy, sexualization of women/female people, and a blatant disregard of respect for the "walking fleshlights" in the room. "what's better, tits or ass?" "oh this anime is so peak, wdym you don't like it cause there's also panty shots of underage girls in it?" "keep furry weird! the horse fursuit with styrofoam G cup breast padding is such an icon!" "terfs* can suck my girlcock" (*which i later found out meant anything from hating trans people to respecting but not wanting to sleep with them, and sometimes conservatives are labeled under this branch of "radical.... feminist?")
seeing time and time again the way women and female people are pushed aside, unconsensually sexualized, or even had rape jokes/threats made abt them, is what made me radical.
I used to think my mom was crazy. "Everyone says bitch? what do you mean it's sexist when guys call women that?" "telling a stranger to choke on a dick isn't rapey its just an insult to someone" "every male watches porn, don't they?" Sexism had stained my life to the point that there was no "safe space" for me. I could no longer keep my eyes closed to the horror that is the female experience. "Radfems won't just respect cause you have a vagina" Well talking about my breasts certainly didn't stop being misogynistic once I told you my pronouns were he/they? i don't believe what others tell me to believe out of wanting to be accepted.
when the mainstream liberal men speak over human trafficking survivors to justify upholding the porn/prostitution industry. when fandom spaces welcome child erotica with open arms under the guise of "anti-censorship for queer media", all while adults pushed the limits of "family friendly convention hours" further and further, being called a "fascist puriteen" for not wanting to see a guy in a thong and a dog mask being walked on all fours during the public pride parade at 1pm in fucking massachusetts...
i'm tired of stepping on eggshells to be the "good feminist". FOR ANYONE. i'm gonna be the most obnoxious they/he nonbinary transmasc radical feminist there ever was. i don't care i'm too "TRA" or too "radfem" to fit into your boxes. fuck your boxes dude!
Let adults make decisions about their own bodies. Call people what name/pronouns they want to be called. Trans people are oppressed and at risk of violence. Children don't need to transition to be respected. Not all trans people can/will have certain surgical procedures but are still valid. The only scenario in which asking trans ppl about their procedures is when its in a (consensually) sexual or medical context, otherwise asking ppl invasive questions abt their privates without consent for your "entertainment" is sexual harassment. Trans people aren't here to satisfy your fetish for our bodies. Making fun of trans people who aren't doing anything wrong is cringe behavior. You can't be a feminist and a conservative/trump-supporter. trans women when perceived as women face misogyny even if they weren't born/raised female and aren't effected by certain issues of reproductive rights or medical misogyny. gnc-phobia is bad even when it's against men, being gnc doesn't make someone trans
are all statements that can coexist with: Respect single-sex spaces (female only housing, gyms, DV shelters, etc. You deserve safe spaces too, but so do we. trans men and nonbinary female people benefit from female-only spaces too!). Some people are only attracted to people who were born male or female, no matter how much you transition, some people are same-SEX attracted, not just same-gender. if you are trans you need to disclose that before sex. being lgbt doesn't make you a predator, but that doesn't mean you should excuse predatory behavior from other ppl in that community (happened to me multiple times sadly, also see ava kris tyson situation/response). in US politics, abortion and reproductive rights needs to be centered more in bodily autonomy conversations, women bleeding out over a pregnancy they're forced to have is not the same as choosing to kys over surgery bans. (though suicide is bad and trans ppl should be aloud to decide what to do with their adult body) intersex people shouldn't be used as an argument point by radfems or trans people, using someones medical condition to win arguments is weirdo behavior... criticizing misogyny/rape culture/anti-female behavior in lgbt spaces isn't the same as hating trans people. misandry isn't real (at least in the USA/western culture) (men can be oppressed differently based on minority status, but men/males are not inherently/systemically oppressed the way someone is for being female. there's not a male hate movement killing and raping men like there is for incels. "misandry" is just as real as "reverse racism/racism to white people", aka bullshit)
i'm not going to go through every single post someone makes to see if they're "agreeable enough" to reblog. my opinions are my own. and i'm happy to clarify that, but does porn and rape culture stop being bad the woman speaking out against it has a wrong opinion? are you fucking kidding me?
not every radfem takes me seriously, not every trans person takes me seriously. i just left the radfem community i really enjoyed due to personal conflict (sadly, but hoping to keep in touch still on tumblr). i'm not a poor victim of the evil radfems. i'm female in a male supremacist world and i woke the fuck up.

Parallels I Noticed Between Leo and Prime!!
I've seen many people say that Big Mama is Leo's worst enemy/villain when they got upset with him being paired with one of the Sando brothers.
(Which, obviously she wasn't gonna pair herself with him, but shhhh, another time, Nerdy)
And I agree. . .sorta. She was his worst enemy/villain originally.
But here's what I see when it comes to that. Assigning someone a set villain or enemy typically means at least one of three things can be made; A foil, a connection/comparison, or a parallel.
Raph and Ghost bear? He's Raph's idol, they're both big characters, both rush in and fight, and both solve problems with punching (brawns over brain)
Donnie and Kendra? Both scientific geniuses with a love of purple, both clearly seek some kind of validation and both want their intentions to be seen (think about it- they could stop each other with a tiny robot/invisible device but they wanna be seen doing it instead of using logic :\)
Mikey and Meatsweats? Both love cooking, Meatsweats is Mikey's idol, and both of them are willing to do crazy things for cooking/keeping a kitchen
Now let's go onto the parallels!! May mental health issues ensue!! :)
Prime and Leo have waaaaay too much in common. In fact, it's kinda crazy how many similarities they have.
1- Both use strategy to keep their siblings safe without ever pointing it out
Leo knows what all his family is capable of and how to keep them out of trouble;
“Yeah, go home on a stretcher.”
“And you promised to stop eating our Halloween candy!”
“I knew we couldn't trust spider lady!”
“Hero moves are totally your style.”
And the list goes on and on. Point is- Leo knows his family and actively tries to keep them out of danger and trouble, and his family has no clue.
The same way Prime knows his siblings' capabilities and actively tries to keep them out of danger and trouble, and they definitely got no clue;
He keeps Three by his side nearly the entire length of the movie or close by
He never sends either Two or Three off to fight by themselves, in fact, the one time he has is after their super powerful ship has gotten through and his sister is in a powerful mech suit
It seems like he makes them retreat when they get injured; Two is brought back after her eye is screwed up, and he allows her to fight again only after she's got a giant army with her or her mech
He only let them fight in the first place after sealing off the boys Ninpō and fought them himself
In the bad timeline, you see this;
Tumblr media
Look closely!! Two very distinct mech suits out there. Two and Three are out fighting while surrounded by other troops, beneath the Technodrome and victory is absolutely guaranteed.
(There's also a lot more of the three being evil/laughing together in scrapped story boards, but it's too early for me to go searching for them.)
It's something they both try to hide from them/keep under cover.
Cause if they find out? How much they care. . .
What would that mean then?
In Prime's case; A sign of weakness, a way to exploit him.
In Leo's case; What if they don't trust me? What if they expect more from me?
2- Both hide behind a mask of arrogance/ego
Now, it's a bit different for them.
Leo fakes most of his arrogance/ego. Don't get me wrong, he definitely thinks of himself as the most beautiful, but the majority of his bravado is false.
In Prime's case, the majority of his arrogance and ego is genuine, he truly believes he's the best. But when he's proven wrong- he desperately tries to hide behind his typical arrogance.
Leo hides behind witty remarks and deflection, no one sees him cry or be upset. (If I'm not wrong, I think one of the only times you ever see him genuinely cry is when he's alone in the prison dimension)
Prime hides behind rage and strength when he falls/is upset. (“YOU WRETCHED, LITTLE, PEST!” “WIPE THAT GRIN OFF YOUR FACE!”)
Both want to stop whatever has upset/reminds them of their failures ASAP.
Leo rushes in to try and get the key, save Raph, and stop the Kraang. He forgets any strategy in his panic and fear to fix his failure.
Prime rushes in with ruthless blows and sharp words. Desperate to crush the pest that ruined his plans, that caused his downfall, that he was too cocky to take seriously.
Both fail because they were too arrogant.
But here's the difference- Leo stops his arrogance which leads to him succeeding, Prime's so arrogant he fails. Which is where the foil between them comes through;
Prime lost because he was too cocky to stop the sword. You can not convince me that wasn't on purpose/to mock his sword throw.
Tumblr media
Leo lost because he was too cocky (or at least trying to seem that way) to not rush in and try to get the key himself/to listen to his team
Tumblr media
The foil between them stems from Leo learning and being willing to change, whereas Prime attempts to double down on things.
And now for a comparison that's gonna rock your world :,)
3- They react the EXACT same way when they get upset/have hit their limit.
Both of them freeze when they've realized they've messed up/something goes wrong/it all becomes too much
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at that. Both just. . .froze. They both look a mix of horrified and stunned. Both just freeze to process everything, the fact that they both failed.
And when that freeze is over, they react the same way too;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That shock, that disbelief, that fear, that misery is promptly replaced by rage.
They both immediately lash out at whoever they believe caused that problem, or reminds them of it, despite BOTH knowing that they only have themselves to blame.
In Leo's case- He rushed in, but immediately goes after Casey (you can't convince me that if Donnie and Mikey weren't there that he wouldn't have hurt him in some way)
In Prime's case- He took them all as a joke/let his arrogance keep him from just defeating them (He toyed with them/mocked them/watched them fight the entire time instead of stepping in and taking it seriously)
They both freeze when things go wrong, and immediately switch to rage when it's been processed that they've failed/messed up.
Some more parallels, that I found interesting!!! ;)
1- Prime only locks away their powers after fighting Leo. He fought all of them at once, but only locked their powers away after fighting Leo specifically. He also seemed to be the only one he actively struggled with fighting
2- In discarded storyboards, Prime is missing a tentacle (it's definitely implied to be because of Leo) and future Leo is missing an arm
3- Both of them get the red glowy glow to their eyes;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know that's more stylistic, but I thought it was cool.
All in all, they both have a lot of similarities to each other. They share their worst traits, yet also share their best ones; strategy, being cunning, smart, speed, etc.
Some real good angst opportunity then, on either side, just with the simple;
I'm just like him.

007n7 Headcanons 2.0
This is strictly between himself and the killers. Mainly because I think he is the bridge between them. In a way.
(This is my opinion, if you don't agree- valid. lmao. What, did you think I was gonna say you were wrong?)
- - - -
Tumblr media
- - - -
Due to 007n7 being the unsaid pariah of the survivors, despite all of the colorful pasts- there is naturally a curiosity about him from all of the killers- save his own son.
C00lkidd is no aware of what he is doing to the survivors at first- but after being trapped in forsaken as a manifestation- he starts to become more aware. He has genuine disdain for the other survivors, but there is nothing but love for his dad.
1x1x1x1 is a being of hatred. So naturally there is a hatred for 007n7 despite it being nowhere near as large as the hatred it has for Shedletky.
Despite there being almost uncontrollable hatred, there is also a fascination with 007n7. Mainly concerning the bond that the former hacker and exploiter has with C00lkidd. One that is made of nothing but love despite such grim circumstances. The opposite of himself.
John Doe, despite being mostly unconscious of his actions seems to have a primal curiosity about 007n7. This is actually because of the code that had consumed John Doe and corrupted him- sensing the code of the C00lgui that 007n7 bears.
Jason also harbors interest in 007n7 for different reasons. These reasons specifically being his observations of the other survivors with 007n7.
007n7 is often on the outside of the group. It's easy to tell he's not welcomed. Even in this hellscape. Whilst some harbor less grudges than others- there is some sort of grudge of negative light about 007n7 no matter where the heads turn. Jason feels a kinship because of this, due to him having a past of bulling before his demise and rise as Jason.
1x1x1x1 feels confusing and unwanted envy toward C00lkidd and 007n7. This is due to his connections with Shedletsky, his own creator. -> A child, not even created by 007n7 got unconditional love no matter the circumstances. Or at least an admission of ownership. Even if the actions committed by the child were terrible. Shedletsky refuses to tell anyone that 1x1x1x1 is his creation and the fact that he was created by the other intentionally and the other won't own up to it enrages him more.
John Doe often hesitates to kill 007n7. It is unknown if it is because of the primal urge of apprehension. Or if it is the code within him, sensing a kinship with the C00lgui code.
In rounds with Jason, Jason is less brutal with 007n7 when it concerns killing him. Almost to the point where it may be considered a mercy killing.
Jason wants to protect 'his land' but at the same time- there is also a kinship with 007n7 in a way. -> This is because Jason Voorhees was obsessed with avenging his mothers death and he had clear love for his mother. His kinship is due to the connection 007n7 has with C00lkidd. Not only because of unconditional love, but 007n7 being a single parent. (Much like Jason's own mother was)
(With that being said, Jason has disdain concerning Shedletky for the same reason- as 1x1x1x1 is his creation and the other is nothing short of Disattached from 1x1x1x1. -> Jason also seems to show light kinship to Guest 1337 as Guest 1337 is also a parent. A good parent.)
C00lkidd will often boast about 007n7 to the other killers. Telling them 'How cool his Papa is' and 'He used to be a super cool hacker and stuff'
C00lkidd will deliberately make rounds with 007n7 last longer, and usually fails to kill 007n7, but if he does he almost always waits until the round is almost over so he can spend as much time with 007n7 as possible. Always targeting other survivors first.
All of the killers have outright taken interest to sit back and OBSERVE 007n7. (Save for doe, because bro's part animal /j, he just hangs around) This is to see what causes the tension between the survivors and 007n7.
1x1x1x1 finds it ironic how 007n7 is still considerably the biggest pariah of the survivors group. -> Two-Time who has a KNOWN past that's pretty bad is also disliked- but somehow still trusted more than 007n7 is.
All of the killers consider the potential of 007n7. Considering his past, and just what power he had in his hands- the killers can't help but wonder about 007n7 and the potential he could have on their side. (Especially if 007n7 got ahold of the full version of the C00lgui again, which 007n7 definitely CAN, but refuses to)
1x1x1x1 has tried to mess with 007n7's will before. Specifically in consideration of 007n7's ostracism. He thinks 007n7 is foolish, and hardheaded.

Hey again, gyns.
I saw a post about some black pill radfems saying that essentially "foids" who choose to be around men are completely to blame and should expect violence. That we shouldn't worry or have empathy for women who choose to be around men.
Let me just stop you there.
Let's not forget that the majority of the world does not have women's rights. That means the women who live there are completely under the thumb of their husbands and other men who own all the wealth and can legally abuse their wives or rape them. In some places, you can even kidnap yourself a wife.
Of course!
Of course, women have to become delusional.
They make excuses for men's awful behaviour. They blindly follow religion and believe there is something after death that's going to make this hell they face all better.
Of course, they repress their emotions and distract themselves into loops of childcare, only hanging out with other mothers who understand that sheer burden. They proceed to brush off as their "job" so they can feel less upset about it.
These women are DYING, rotting from the inside out from the sheer zoochosis of being a sentient intelligent animal forced into a life of dull monotonity and the hellscape that is the household.
All for being born female.
Literally and socially held at chains to their master-husbands who breathe down their necks at all times and never let them do anything without 20 different valid reasons.
Like security, these men hold their daughters, their sisters, their wives, and all the women in their lives are kept under strict watch and scolded like children for breaking social norms or doing anything deemed wrong.
You can be KILLED.
THINK about that ACTUALLY.
KILLED for having a boyfriend or not being a virgin in some muslim countries.
Honour killed, YOUR OWN FAMILY KILLS YOU FOR THE 'SHAME' OF NOT BEING 'PURE'!!
Imagine, the privilege of living in one of the few countries, of which there's only about 14 out of 195 countries. That means less than 1 percent of the world, 0.07% has full womens rights.
But how DARE you blame the women!
Yes, they don't want to change, but that's because they've seen time and time again what happens if you try to change.
How can conceptualise women's rights when you live in a place where women get ACID thrown in your face for divorce?
How can you want women's rights when you have NO CHOICE in marriage?
How can you understand women are people when you are raised on the so called fact that men are closer to God and more superior than you just for being born male?
You can't.
Blame the men who uphold these systems who abuse women and girls.
Who go unpunished, unbeaten, unconfronted.
Never blame the women, when they are coping in the best way they can.
Misogyny is holding women hostage.
Don't you understand that as a group, men fit the exact description of terrorists? They use intentional violence and fear to achieve political or ideological aims to keep women in their place to exploit us.
They bring nothing but danger and stress to most women globally and yet you blame the WOMEN for being sucessptable to brainwashing and having delusional coping methods to ignore the reality they are married and giving birth to future abusers?
We are human too, which means that of course of you raise a little girl telling her she is inferior to her male counterparts she will internalised that all her life.
Blame the men who perpetuate this cycle of female exploitation, not the women who did nothing wrong but be born female.
Don't loose your empathy for other women and girls, don't be like the men.
It's up to us to spread awareness, to help even if they don't want it right now. We have to be there when they need it, we have to have an option for them.
We can save the female class, but only if we never loose empathy and genuinely want the best for one another.
Some women are against us.
But if we win, we all win.
- Lani, your lady

Hermit-a-Day May, day 11: Cub + Corporate Memphis
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A digital drawing of Minecraft YouTuber Cubfan135 in the "Corporate Memphis" style. His head is incredibly small for his body, and his legs are incredibly large and long. His form is made up of oversimplified shapes and unrealistically smooth angles. The drawing is mostly lineless and the colors are flat and solid with no shading. Cub has one leg straight and one bent at the knee, as if he has been flying and is about to land. He has blue batlike wings that are flared out behind him, resembling a vex mob from Minecraft. In his left hand, he is holding a gold tier Hermit Permit from the Hermitcraft server (a scroll of paper with a red circular seal and a gold ribbon). His right hand is making a thumbs-up. His skin is also blue like a vex mob, and he is wearing long khaki pants with a black belt, a black shirt over a white collared undershirt, a red tie, a gold nametag, and black shoes. His hair is black and forms an exaggerated swoop on each side of his head; one of the swoops fully covers the left side of his face. His right eye is a simple black oval, and a slanted white half-circle represents his grin. Behind him is a teal circle slightly smaller than his body. The background of the image is pale teal. A signature runs down his leg, reading "a-suspicious-number-of-ducks." ./End ID]
Today's style/medium is Corporate Memphis, aka Alegria! If you think you're unfamiliar with this style, you're probably wrong--you've most likely seen it in advertisements, marketing, and even internal training materials for large companies (or small ones who want to seem trendy). You can just look it up and see what I mean, but in short, Corporate Memphis tends to be used for images, particularly depictions of people, that are meant to be quick and cheap to make and "universally appealing" to a customer base. That means that it's rare to see diverse body types or skin tones in this style--many examples even use bright, unrealistic candy colors for people's skin to avoid the "issue" of racial diversity entirely. That's part of why I made Cub blue for this piece (the other part is the vex lore, of course).
Bodies in Corporate Memphis are usually incredibly disproportionate, with tiny heads and massive, long legs. Angles are swoopy and smooth instead of sharp, limbs are noodle-y, colors are flat and lineless, and backgrounds are often abstract and geometric.
Now, there's been a lot of debate about this style. Many people think it's soulless, cheap, and sanitized. Others think it's a legitimate art movement and shouldn't be demonized. Personally, I'm on the soulless side--I don't hate the art style itself, conceptually, but I hate what it represents and how it's used. You're free to disagree with me, however!
As for why I chose this style for Cub, well. Can you get more "soulless corporation" than the Permit Office? (A bit more rambling under the cut!)
Making this piece was, like the Rainbow Fairy!Doc last year, an active struggle in making my art... not worse necessarily, but different. I say this not to brag, but I had to fix the proportions multiple times because I was making them too realistic. My shapes kept being too complex. It was honestly hard for me personally to make something that looked good while also making it something that followed the specific conventions of this style. It was a constant exercise in smoothing, simplifying, and removing all traces of uniqueness or texture (both metaphorical and literal).
Now, I'm sure there might be someone out there reading this who draws like this naturally and that's just their style. And that's so incredibly valid. I'm not trying to shame every artist who draws things that look like this--actually, I'm not trying to shame artists at all. It's more a matter of being frustrated with exploitative companies who only want to wring every drop of profit out of their clientele, without caring about the implications of what they're doing OR about the artists they're paying (probably not enough) to design these things. If you draw in a style that looks like this and you put your heart and soul into it, I couldn't be happier for and prouder of you. You're not the problem. To you, and everyone else who's read this far, thank you! And happy arting.

whatd you do when folks ask for...'absolution'? for lack of a better word? for eating meat? e.g one of my friends asked if i thought she was a bad person for eating animals on nye...think i said something vague like 'well i think itd be better if you didn't but idc' (lies, i care deeply). my mum does this aaall the time too, like she has chickens and keeps asking if i think it's ok to eat their eggs, or to ride her horses. idk how to explain that i will always think it's wrong to take something that's not ours...
I’ve experienced this many, many times, and it’s always a bit awkward. I think that validating their decision in any way is one of the worst things you can do to deter them from ever actually going vegan, but you also don’t want to turn them off by being combative. What I generally do is just very politely and matter-of-factly say something like:
“Obviously, I think that exploiting and killing animals unnecessarily is wrong, that’s why I’m vegan and I think that other people should try their best to avoid harming animals as much as they’re able to. I don’t think that eating meat or cheese makes you a bad person, but I do think that it’s an unethical thing to do.”
The tone is very important, I find. I explain this as if I’m just explaining something totally factual and unemotional, and usually I don’t get much pushback on that, if any. The usual response is for them to tell me why they’re not vegan, or tell me they eat veggie a couple of times a week - that sort of thing. But I’ll always be honest about how I feel about what they’re doing, because to do anything else would be letting down animals and our cause.
Occasionally you will still hit a nerve with someone who is naturally insecure or combative on this topic, but all you’re really doing is answering a question honestly, and there is nothing wrong with that. 98% of the population and millions of dollars in corporate advertising tells them its fine, they can survive one or two people offering a contrary opinion.

Some notes of mine on how the heroes of helluva boss contrast with the villains.
Let's start with my boy the helluva boss himself blitz and his ratshit father and stupid wannabe striker.
Blitz as it is well known is someone who was raised to belive that his self worth was not tied to what he believes it to he but how much he can offer to the otherside of the relationship and when the circus burned down as a result of his honest mistake he was convinced that showing any kind of emotional vulnerability would cause everyone he cared about to burst into flames. In short blitz is the type of guy who will give you all the love and affection in the world but the moment you try and love him back he panics, runs and tries to push you away because he thinks he's only worthy of giving and never receiving.
But despite him struggling he turned that self hatred into a mission to help people like him. Those who had cruel and exploitve fathers (moxxie), those who felt ignored and cast aside (millie) and especially those who were unfairly screwed over by the unfair world of hell (loona).
Now let's take a look at what cash and striker have done. Blitz created the one place where imps (and one hound) can work for themselves without being beholden to the rich and powerful. Meanwhile cash made his circus off the backs of rich costumers like paimon and exploiting those around him like fizz and barbie and blitz.
Where blitz did his best to help his fellow imps rise above their station striker turned to pettiness and spite. Turning his hatred outward rather than inwards onto the royals needing someone to blame of his misery other than himself. Setting out on a crusade for vengeance against a system that had wronged him but rather than do anything to help his fellow imps he instead became grew a massive ego and even adopted the same superiority complex that the nobles had and even began working with them! Betraying his own ideals and dogma just to get more power to compastate for how week he felt all those years ago. A house slave in revolutionary clothing.
Next up stolas and how he is a better person than paimon, Andy and stella put together.
Stolas was neglected and denied agency and love his entire life and despite what his antis might say he still did a far better job of parenting than paimon ever did. Remembering his daughter's name for one thing and fighting tooth and nail to protect her childhood from the sheriking harpy that made his life a both figurative and literal hell! His only real mistake as a parent is not realizing that the childhood he had fought so hard to protect was coming to an end.
Now let's talk about stella who instead of trying to make the best of an arranged marriage turned to spite and anger to validate herself and took enjoyment out of watching someone like herself held in position against their will suffer more than they already were! And then theirs andy who instead of recognizing the portentous charade that the goetia court life is for what it was like stolas did, embraced the greed and envy of the whole system and instead of trying to be content with what he had dedicated his life to further himself through any means nessacry. Not to mention the fact that seems to be scared of his own sexualtiy which say what you want about stolas he isn't trying to convince people he's straight by yelling about his siblings attractiveness.
Then there's moxxie. Too often dismissed as a coward and a kill joy he how proven himself to be a better person than crimson ever was by the mere fact that he is willing to actually do his own dirty work. I mean think about it when's the last time crimson fought his own battles? Answer. Not fucking once!!!
Think about it. Crimsons a mob boss and has never actually tried to take part in any battle personally unless he was certain he could win. In exes and ohs he couldn't even face his own son unless he was certain moxxie wasn't going to stand up to him. And both times he had others fight on his behalf and neither times it worked. You all saw how he was cowering when millie dealt with his goons! Moxxie may not be the toughest imp around but he never tried to force anyone to do anything that he wasn't willing to do himself!! Theirs also the theory that crimson Is in denial over his own sexualtiy which works so well to me because of how it fits in perfectly with his character!! Crimson is all about trying to be a tough guy while simultaneously not having the guts to do any of the work himself!! So him projecting his own insecurities onto his son and abusing him for it because he knows that moxxie is stronger than him in both mind and body fits him so well!!
Mille well her arc seems to be just beginning and only time will tell if she will have her own villain that embodies her feelings of being ignored and always second place as well as her need to help others while ignoring her own struggles.
Loona is a lot like her father though the key difference is that while blitz has had time to prefect his fake asshole act loonas tends to Crack a lot more easily as seen in queen bee and the two latest episodes. But she also seems to share some of stolas's issues as in due to being locked up and neglected her whole life she has no clue what a healthy relationship looks like or any kind of normal non volient social interaction looks like. She's in many ways both a foster Child and a shelter pet both of which tend to have poor to nonexistent social skills and if the situation is practically bad voilent attitudes. Loona exhibits a lot of these traits but while her willingness to be open with her father has certainly improved she still has a long ways to go with her social skills.
As @cute-little-fly pointed out. Loona is likely going to have to learn the same lesson the main character of means girls did. That trying to recreate social patterns, especially negative ones, is ultimately not going to work out in her favor. While we do see her with friends at the end of sinsmas she seemed to rely on dunking on Vicki as a means of connection and while Vicki definitely deserves it building a relationship on mutual hatred isn't exactly a strong foundation.
And speaking of Vicki i have already discussed why I believe that she would be the perfect candidate to serve as the striker to loonas blitz.
1. She seems to have some level of social sway and the social scene is far from loonas stronge suit as I said.
2. Loonas development hinges on her learning to be open with others and make friends and Vicki is in the perfect place to hinder that.
3. She has some knowledge of loonas past given how she had that photo of her and knew her old nickname "loonatic".
4. The thematic reasons of how Vicki could embody what would happen if loona never stopped trying to put others down in order to validate herself by being basically the hellhound verison of Regina geogre.
5. and finaly the simple fun of the goth wolf/husky vs the valley girl poodle.

All right, let’s talk about Feyre’s pregnancy reveal, Rhysand’s anger, and Cassian’s punishment. This is more of an angry rant, if it doesn’t make sense, you know why.
Before some weirdo comes for my throat for this, and though I’m not obligated to share anything about my life, I have two sisters. I’ve been both Feyre and Nesta. I know what it’s like to be poor, even if not to the extent of ‘I have to hunt to feed my family’ poor which is still a lot more than what SJM knows or understands.
The Archeron sisters have a less than cordial bond with each other, but it is a lot deeper than ‘she let me go hunting’ and ‘I failed her’. The adults responsible for them traumatised them, neglected them, used them as pawns, and exploited them. The three were forced to parent each other and care for their father. That’s a lot of trauma they have in common which leads to more in their individual lives, and an outsider can’t just have a peek and go ‘Oh, this is the one who suffered the most’. Comparing their trauma and picking a side is downplaying their experiences or insulting them as a character.
And it takes a lot to pit one of them against another with just a simple ‘she wronged you, so I’m going to punish her for you’ unless they hate each other and are already out for blood. Which is exactly what the IC do with the sisters—play with their emotions, manipulate them, and make a villain in each other’s story. It’s almost offensive to everyone with a sibling the way sisterhood is approached in this series by making Feyre compliant with Rhysand’s plans. I can’t even begin to tell you how much this narrative infuriates me that Feyre willingly allows Nesta’s imprisonment with a man who clearly is lusting after her.
The sisters haven’t healed from their shared trauma and the IC doesn’t want them to. The only chance they had to mend their relationship was when Feyre returned home after Tamlin sent her back. What we see in SF is a clear reversal of whatever bond they managed to salvage.
Feyre hasn’t forgiven Nesta and at this rate, she never will. She doesn’t care about her sisters but meddles with their lives because she’s still living by the promise she made to her mother. In her mind, she’s ‘taking care of her sisters’ even though she’s hurting them. Their dynamic shifts when she becomes a High Lady and her sisters end up at her mercy which is very similar to their times in poverty. Feyre provided for the family and she exerted control over them as a means to keep that promise which is what she’s repeating now. But that’s too much psychology for people who instantly go ‘but canonically!!’ So let’s move on.
Why does this matter to the pregnancy reveal? Oh, it does because Feyre allows everything in SF. Sure, she is manipulated but Rhysand and Cassian don’t have to put much effort into it. She always ‘sees’ their side and accepts it. (Or, SJM did so to justify the abuse.)
Nesta has every right to tell Feyre the truth about her child. She’s her sister, even if you don’t want to believe, she truly cares for her. Someone has to and no one close to Feyre is going to because Rhysand commands their silence. Her own healer doesn’t explain the dangers of childbirth to her. Nesta sucks at phrasing it well but her reasons are valid and clear. When Feyre asks her to calm down, she says something along the lines of ‘I can’t because they made a choice that directly concerns me, my magic which I’m terrified of. Would you calm down if they did the same to you? What if I tell you they already did? That they’re lying to you too about the child that’s potentially a death sentence? Can you be calm now?’ There’s anger here, sure, only because that’s the second time her sister betrayed her, the first being the imprisonment. She wasn’t waiting around coming up with a list to hurt Feyre and running to her the first chance she got (you know like specific someone does). Besides, she trusted Rhysand and Cassian to do right by Feyre, it’s why she kept their secret until then. But they proved her wrong and now what reason does she have to trust any of them? Even if it is an avenging of sorts, why wouldn’t she have the right to when it’s her and her sister’s life they are playing with?
Rhysand’s first instinct is to kill Nesta more than be concerned for his mate. He was not angry because Feyre was hurt or Nesta revealed the truth before he could. He was never going to tell Feyre himself, not until childbirth unless he ‘fixes’ it to play the hero again, or after if by some miracle they survived. He didn’t even tell his friends about the death bargain the two geniuses made either until the last minute and when he was cornered. That’s his pattern throughout the series.
Do you know what he might have done if it’d gone as far as the labour without Feyre knowing? ‘Let’s not put her in any more pain.’ And Feyre would have died never knowing all her friends were aware of her fate and they didn’t tell her.
He was angry because Nesta ruined his ploy. Would he have reacted differently had she declared it calmly over dinner? Let’s say Nesta wants to invite Feyre and wants to talk to her. She’s in HoW and she has to ask Cassian who will, let’s face it, inform Rhysand first. And they can decide to keep them apart. How is it impossible to see the control these men have over the sisters? Even if it is a completely separate incident on a random boring Tuesday, Nesta will have still become the villain. Rhysand will have still threatened to kill her.
Cassian whisks Nesta off the streets when she’s very well convinced that she’s either going to die or be dumped on the moral lands. I mean, he doesn’t tell her where he’s taking her and all she sees is Azriel passing him a packed bag. She’s already accepted her fate. Feyre reaches out to Cassian and asks him to convey the message that she’s forgiven Nesta which he keeps to himself. She insists her sister is brought back home which he refutes right away. She expresses clearly she’s angry with IC than her sister, again Nesta never knows. And Cassian decides Nesta deserves to be punished.
Just so we’re clear. Feyre is not angry with Nesta. She’s not hurt by Nesta’s actions. She wants her sister back home. And CASSIAN DECIDES NESTA DESERVES TO BE PUNISHED. Not Feyre. Not Rhysand.
Why? Because she stepped out of line, she exposed his precious sugar daddy. Because Cassian failed Rhysand by not getting to Nesta first and he’s taking it out on her.
You can say all you want Feyre is on Nesta’s side here and she’s being manipulated. But, she forgives Rhysand and Cassian in less than a day after learning her baby and her mate, whom she loves so dearly, are going to die with her. She’s so past it already that she’s joking with Cassian that Rhysand will enjoy Nesta’s punishment. (‘She’s never gone on a hike a day in her life’ but she went through the woods freezing to look for little sister alone with a mercenary, and she climbed down 10 000 steps out of sheer will. Still why not just insult her anyway lol?)
Does she know how dangerous the trip is or does she just not care? And I don’t remember if she goes on to have sex, I only remember Rhysand boasting about make-up sex in a mental convo with Cassian, and if it’s at this point, then that’s even more disturbing.
Why doesn’t she reach out to Nesta herself? Even if Nesta refuses, she can always try again. The two are gone for almost a week and she never wishes to check with her sister who ran off afraid for her life and guilt-ridden? How many times will the two men decide what’s best for her? The imprisonment is Rhysand’s elaborate plan which was very handy and the hike is Cassian’s idea. And she goes along either time because she is helpless with her own sister?
Besides, why do the IC even interfere? Feyre and Nesta are mean to each other. They hate each other. They make up one day. They want to rip each other’s throats out the next. Nesta wants to be far from her sisters, fine. She wants to drink and fuck and drown in her pain, fine. Feyre and Elain want her to heal soon, fine. Feyre wants to give her money, she wants to cut her off, fine. But it’s between them!
Rhysand can hate Nesta all his life. But he has no right to dole out punishment or make her life miserable out of spite. He can’t be angry on behalf of Feyre. As far as Nesta/Elain are concerned, he is just a dude their sister is sleeping with. They don’t believe in the whole mate thing. And Cassian is just a random guy.
And people’s audacity to say Feyre respects Cassian’s choice because she’s being a good friend and he has the right to choose for himself..!
Cassian doesn’t go ‘Let me go on a hike until this blows over’. He doesn’t choose for himself. He chooses for a woman, who is clearly hurting and wanting to die, so that she learns her lesson of never, ever crossing the IC (read Rhysand). His choice is directly impacting someone who’s suicidal and whose family wants them back. He doesn’t have a right to punish Nesta. He has no business getting involved at all!
I mean, if a guy shows up at your house and decides to punish you for a fight you have with your sister, you’ll either murder and bury him together or call the cops, not fucking marry him. It doesn’t matter he’s best buddies with your sister’s lover. He’s a creep.
And they say, Nesta deserves it all because she failed Feyre at the cabin. Their parents failed them. Nesta was the nurturer of the family, Elain was the emotional support, and Feyre was the provider—who could have taken literally any other job and, she chose hunting, but what Nesta and Elain did was irreplaceable. So for fuck’s sake, cut them some slack.
How can anyone read the book and believe all this was for Nesta, that any of them care about her, or that Cassian loves her? People would rather live in denial than accept what’s truly happening.

Its so beautiful how much work you put in your writing with characters like jamil and kalim, i am excited to see what you come up with leona too
I was hoping you would write more about what you would change about their stories tbh, it looks like you really enjoy it and it makes me happy!
lolol sorry if this is weird, ignore it if u want to
my thoughts are gonna come out really jumbled since i've discussed this before on my old account. maybe one day i'll make a whole dedicated post about my issues with book four and the strengths of it as well. not to be shady, but i like it a lot more than i did book two, but they both suffer from similar issues in the writing. (ALSO SORRY IM GETTING TO THIS MANY MONTHS LATE). it has been a very hot minute since i've revisited book four, so correct me if i make any mistakes or mix things up!!
i also want to mention that a lot of my issues can be traced to the english translation which kind of butchers jamil's motivation. for example, when grim asks about jamil's reason for staying a servant, the eng server has jamil say something like "it's family tradition" versus the fan translations instead implying he says something like "a servant cannot raise a blade to his master." these are two very different motivations for not seeking freedom. the latter implies there are powers beyond his control, in my interpretation that is caste and lineage (which i really think is the case since jamil later says his family would suffer if he ever got his way). another translation issue comes when the eng server, instead of showcasing the brutality of the wealthy al-asim family by letting jamil verbalize that his family would be punished if he did something wrong, he instead says he would be "lectured" by his father. again, it really dumbs down jamil's motivation and the underlying immorality of kalim's family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the eng server sanitizes the story a lot, is what im trying to say. ultimately, a lot of the master/servant language gets completely deleted in the eng server which makes it more glaring how immoral kalim's position in society is. i love kalim as a character, especially as a foil to jamil, but i think sanitizing his image and his family image in the eng server has created a lot of jamil haters for no reason. sure, what jamil did was objectively wrong. he knew kalim trusted him and used that trust to betray him, but acting like he did not have valid motivations is completely insane. the mere act of freedom is enough to drag his family into poverty.
Tumblr media
again, i want to remind everyone jamil was born into this position. one of my greater issues with their story is that i feel like the class divide could have been explored more thoroughly, though i do feel like i would not care as much if i could read japanese and played on the japanese server.
why would they change that and make it seem like jamil was loyal to them? they make it seem like a choice when they don't use the proper language to signify how out of his control his position in society really is. he was born into servitude, he did not "choose" to be loyal. if you're born into poverty, you did not choose to be impoverished. if you're born into generational wealth, you did not choose to be wealthy. with the caste system, your role is chosen for you by your lineage and in this case, as jamil puts it, vipers are servants where asims are masters.
i think they could have explored this theme a lot more, especially regarding kalim. he's not an idiot, as we see with his ability to pick out poisonous plants and the tension between him and jamil in book five, so why did they make him seem so oblivious to jamil's disdain for him? if not noticing jamil hated him, he should have far sooner come to the realization that he and jamil were in an exploitative relationship, where jamil was being treated as expendable and where he was exalted by virtue of his last name.
also, this panel furthers my point that jamil is where he is because of caste.
Tumblr media
aside from the orientalism in the game regarding jamil and kalim, which i've come to realize is just something you have to deal with whenever it pertains to brown people in media, overall i think a major flaw with their story is kalim's apparent obliviousness. i know he was probably very sheltered due to how his life was at risk because of his wealth, but come on?? he can acknowledge that jamil tastes his food for poison, but cannot acknowledge that maybe jamil doesn't like him as a result???
jamil also isn't wrong for hating kalim. he's wrong for using kalim's trust against him, but he's not wrong for hating kalim and everything he stands for. kalim is the reason why jamil has to work so hard and still dumb himself down.
kalim is handed whatever he wants and jamil, from a young age, has to grapple with the fact that compared to kalim, his life is not sacred. caste and servitude is so dehumanizing. overall, they could have been less vague about it and the eng translation should not have handled everything with kid gloves, because it makes jamil seem unjustified. i try to rectify these issues in my fics and address them (lemme plug the scarabia masterlist lmao), but i don't think any amount of fics will fix the damage done to their characters, especially in the translation.

A Minecraft Movie Trailer Dive
Tumblr media
Alright!! I have a hard time talking about things in a more real? manner like this but I feel like it's important to be honest and share thoughts.
So the Minecraft movie trailer is a trailer that exists and it's incredibly upsetting to say the least. i had always had hopes of it being entirely animated and be a sort fo film version of Minecraft: Story Mode but it's clearly not that at all. It's a shame too, it's incredibly disappointing to know it's live action as I am a HUGE advocate for animated movies and blockbusters and such. I think Minecraft is a game that is so fantastical and developed and normalized within it's own plane of existence that trying to translate it as anything other than an animated movie fundamentally goes against what the game is supposed to be.
Minecraft is creativity incarnate. It is a canvas for you to do quite literally anything with. And i think turning it into a pathetic cash grab live action movie is about as hard away as you can get from it's core values. You lazily slap real people to into the game to mock and laugh at and disrupt the flow of it's own universe. Treating this game as if it is nothing but a child' plaything despite the fact that people of any age can play it and find joy and excitement. I think the jokes and the overall childish view of the game is disgusting I think it belittles it, I think Minecraft as a whole, encourages all ages and helps develop personal understanding of the world around us and our own ideals. Maybe we'd like to build a large house, go on, here are hundreds of blocks to choose from! Loads of colors, be free!!! Perhaps you'd like to calm down and play with friends or even challenge yourselves, go on with multiplayer! There's servers and achievements!!! There's plenty of things to do. And I think one of the most important things is that, none of this is wrong or weird. None of this is an incorrect way of playing, nothing you do is bad. This isn't supposed to be humbling this isn't supposed to be stressful or something to laugh at. Your desires and plans are valid.
Perhaps as an autistic individual myself, I find that so comforting. I understand it's just a movie, but it's a movie that fundamentally gets everything wrong about this lovely game. I don't understand how these trailers and jokes and plot points are treated as if it's okay to be bad if it's for children. It's saddening.
Either way, moving onto a different subject that I have much more knowledge about and care too much of, the Piglins.
This trailer shows off that Piglins are meant to be the main antagonists, as well as the The Seer having a role in the plot. I have many problems with this, and I will be discussing this through the lens of my own experiences, especially as it comes to my race. (I am latino for those who don't know)
First things first, no, the Piglins aren't evil by any means. I know a lot of media has a very black and white view of them but honestly, take a moment to think about this.
Piglins are minding their business, having fun, living their lives, when a bunch of explorers come barging into their home, exploiting them for their willingness to barter, stealing their valuables right from their houses, and on top of that, being killed and hurt because they dare fight back and attempt to protect one another.
To me, it's incredibly disheartening to see Piglins being portrayed as some kind of aggressors, savages and barbaric monsters all because they want to protect their way of life. I don't understand how emotionless people seem to act toward them. They aren't even physically accurate to the game models. They wear clothes, they use tools, they talk amongst themselves. It's very disgusting to see how this group that is CLEARLY INTELLIGENT BTW (they make music, tools, clothes, armor, buildings, homes and have a complex social system) being drawn and shown in less clothes, more violent tendencies, a more destroyed home and life, even showing violence among themselves to portray them as anything other than the interesting and complex species they are.
I'm just tired of the racist undertones that most Piglin plots seem to have. I find it insulting to them, i find it concerning regarding the language used. 'barbaric' 'crude' 'savage'
Just makes me angry.
