Wes ruins everything
Wes had finally done it, he had finally realized why nobody ever belived him about Fenton and Phantom! It made so much sense now, he had been looking for an answer for years, thinking he was going crazy because everybody refused to see the Obvious!
He was Cursed!
He literally had an Ancestoral Curse on his Bloodline that made it so that all those born with the gift of Prophecy would be ignored! A Gift of Prophecy that he apparently had.
It was Cassandra's Curse, the one from Greek Myths. Apparently she was his Great×1000 Grandmother and passed down the Gift (and Curse) of Prophecy to him. And he knew how to break it!
All he needed to do was gather the right resources, chant the correct incantations, make sure not to accidentally summon a Demon in the process, and he could just foist the Curse onto some other poor schmuck. Sure it would suck for them, and he would loose his Gift of Prophecy, but Wes had been ignored for Years at this point, he needed validation!
So he did the Ritual, and he didn't mess it up, and he managed to get rid of the Curse.
Now all he had to do was convince everybody that he was right for the first time in his life! This was going to be great!
...
Cass didn't know what was going on.
A while ago, she had started getting these...gut feelings that she couldn't explain.
She would look over the details of a Case her Family was working on, and see a patern that the others were seemingly ignoring. Like when she realized that The Penguin was about to raid the Docks on the East Side, but the others were convinced it was going to be on the West.
But when she had tried to tell them, they had brushed her off. "We've already concluded that he will begin the Raid on the West side, no need to go to the East."
She had gone anyways, and low and behold she had been right. But nobody even acknowledged that she had been right at all, they had just wondered how they had missed the signs, not even questioning how she had known.
It wasn't limited to Cases either. Even small things, like telling her brother's where the TV remote was were brushed off, and hours later they would still be looking, never even having checked where she told them.
It seemed that no matter what, nobody cared about her point of view anymore. They kept brushing her off, telling her she was wrong, actively ignoring her ideas.
And it was getting worse. They were starting to ignore her more and more, forgetting she was in the room, not calling her down for Dinner, even forgetting to check in on her during Patrol.
She knew that there must be something going on, Magical or otherwise, but when she tried bringing it up with her Dad or JLD, they would also Brush her off.
Her Family was forgetting her. And they didn't even realize it.
...
Danny was not okay at the moment.
When he had gone to school a few weeks ago and noticed everybody staring at him, he didn't give it much thought. Maybe Dash or Paulina had spread another Rumor about him again, not too out of the ordinary.
When his name had been called over the Intercom, he hadn't thought much of that either. His grades were falling even more than usual, so he assumed his Guidance Counselor wanted to have another talk with him.
When he walked into the Principals Office to see both of his Parents and some GIW Agents, that's when he realized something big must have happened.
He didn't have much of a chance to react when the Shields went up, but he did react when the first Ecto-Blast scorched the wall behind him. His Parents began to scream at him as they fired their Blasters, something about replacing somebody? He didn't know, he was pretty preoccupied at the moment.
It took more effort than he cared to admit to escape the Room, but a stray shot to the hidden Shield Projector under the Principals Desk proved to be his saving grace. Unfortunately the moment he escaped the Office, he was met with a veritable Army of GIW Agents, all armed to the Teeth with Weapons he had never even seen before.
He managed to get away for a moment, hiding in the Bathroom as the Agents chasing him passed it by. That's when he met Wes.
He obviously hadn't been expecting him, but the moment he saw him Wes put on a smug look. "Oh hi Fenton, trying to get away from the other students?"
Danny had replied with confusion, "What the hell are you talking about?!"
"I finally managed to convince everybody about you, now everyone knows that you're Phantom! I'll bet you're hiding from all of the other Students hounding you for questions right?"
"...it was you?"
"Yeah, so? I finally get to be right!"
"...You absolute MORON-"
That was the last Danny got to say to Wes before an Ecto-Blast launched him through a Wall, seeing his face morph into a look of Shock just before the dust cloud covered it up.
Since that day, Danny had been on the Run. Nowhere was safe anymore now that the GIW knew both his Human and Ghost's faces, but he had to keep running. He crossed state Lines already, and was on his way to the next Ecto-Rich City he could sense, somewhere in New Jersey.
He cursed his Fenton Luck every day. Why had everybody believed Wes this time?! Nobody had ever belived him before, nobody even seemed to acknowledge his existence after a while! What had changed?
Danny just wanted to rest already.
...
Cass had taken to Patrolling alone recently. She had taken to doing a lot of things alone, actually.
After the first month, it seemed that nobody could remember that she was in the room with them, even if she was within their eyeline, she just faded into the background. By the 2 Month Mark they had stopped talking to her entirely, although occasionally she would get a Text or two from her dad. By the 3 month Mark she was completely invisible, and By the 5th she had been forced to get used to it.
She didn't know what was going on, was it a Meta Ability? Magic? Alien Tech? She had no idea.
She had begun to cook for herself after the first time Alfred forgot to set her Plate at the Table. The same with Washing her own Clothes, Cleaning her Room, and Paying her Phone Bills. At the very least the Automated Allowance Payments to her Account had kept up, or she wouldn't have been able to go to her favorite Cafe anymore.
It was bittersweet for her. She used to go to that Cafe every week with Alfred, but he didn't even come on his own anymore. Had he only come for her? Did she really mean that much to them? It hurt, she finally had a family that cared for her and suddenly she didn't exist to them.
She sat alone at a Table, ignored by everyone in the Cafe as usual, when a new face walked in. He looked about her age, a little roughed up, walking with a sort of cautious gaint, as if he was scared of something. His Body Language seemed to agree with her assessment, as his body practically screamed "Worry" in its movements.
Cass stopped watching at that point. Just another Gotham Teen, probably worried over something like getting not having enough money or getting mugged on the way home. It was a Common sight in Gotham.
She attention was pricked again for a moment when she heard a voice speak up. "Uh, can I sit here?"
She ignored it, he wasn't talking to her.
"Um, excuse me? Miss? Could I sit here?" He repeated.
She ignored him again, he wasn't talking to her. Nobody talked to her.
"Hello? Do you have Earbuds in?" He said, and he waved his hand in front of her face.
Her face. He waved his hand. In front of Her Face.
He was talking to her.
She looked up at him sharply, seeming to startle him for a moment before he asked, "So, is that a no?"
"You can see me?" She asked.
He looked a bit bewildered, but replied "Uh, yeah? Why would I not? Are you...a Ghost?". That last part sounded a bit suspicious.
"No. Not a Ghost. But nobody sees me. Ever. Nobody remembers me." She replied. She had never spoken this much to anybody outside of her Family, but in the past few weeks she had been starved for interaction.
He seemed slightly interested, and sat down at her table. He looked her in the eyes, and said "Do you...talk about it?"
She smiled. He could see her.

hope you feel better soon!
I am riddled with ailments, but I stay silly!
#ask#non mdzs#My health journey has been: Hernia -> acid reflux -> Vocal pain due to aforementioned reflux -> chest infection.#I'm terrified to know what's about to hit me next. Please let it be something kind. PLEASE.#The consequence of living with linguists is that you'll wake up with a wacked up voice -#suddenly you're sitting you down in front of a program called something like Praat having your shimmer and jitter levels calibrated.#They gave me a GRBAS of 33012. I have a fun thing called a pitch break where a whole octave just does not exist.#My vocal pain was bad enough I ended up seeing a speech pathologist and that whole experience was super neat!#I learnt a lot about voice - to be honest I might make a little comic on it after some more research. Fascinating stuff.#For example; your mental perception of our voice modulates the muscles of the vocal folds and larynx.#meaning that when you do have changes (inflammation = more mass = lower frequency)#your brain automatically attempts to correct it to what it 'should sound like'. Leading to a lot more vocal strain and damage!#And it gets really interesting for trans voice care as well - because the mental perception of one's voice isn't based on an existing sampl#So a good chunk of trans voice training is also done with the idea of finding one's voice and retraining the brain to accept it. Neat!#Parkinsonial Voice also has this perception to musculature link! The perception is that they are talking at a loud/normal volume#but the actual voice is quite breathy and weak. So vocal training works on practicing putting more effort into the voice#and retraining the brain to accept the 'loud' voice as 'normal'.#Isn't the human body fascinating?#Anyhow; Now I have vocal exercises and strategies to reduce strain and promote healing.#Which is a lot better than my previous strategy of yelling AAAH in my car until my 'voice smoothed out'.#You can imagine the horror on the speech path's face. I am an informed creature now.#I'm my own little lab rat now. I love learning and researching. Welcome to my tag lab. Class is dismissed.#I'll be back later with a few more answered asks </3 despite everything I'm still going to work and I need the extra sleep.#Thank you for the well wishes! And if you read all of that info dump; thank you for that as well!

Like if you have a problem with the concept of deportation as a whole or a problem with the fact that you don't usually need a jury to agree to a conviction to be deported (just a judge.) And that's really the only issue here. Wouldn't it make more sense to champion one of the like million and a half 5 year olds arrested at school forced to go to deportation hearings without their parents? Who are then deported after having no idea what just happened? Rather than a leader of an organization who's stated goal is the "total eradication of Western Civilization" through violence and that organized a day of mourning for Sinwar?? Perhaps??
Or maybe this is all happening for the reasons that gentiles repeatedly scream in our faces, which is that they just don't think murdering Jewish civilians should be considered terrorism? And maybe we have to look honestly at our instinct as Jews to defend this behavior as soon as there are consequences for it, like maybe we still think that if we let antisemites harrass us enough, they will stop short of killing us?
#swinging a bat at a hornet's nest but im so angry#you guys are completely throwing the jews who live here under the bus#maybe i don't want to keep having to live in an area wallpapered with HAMAS IS COMING and red triangles??#maybe the jews at Columbia dont want to go to school with yet another guy who regularly organizes#protests in favor of murdering them?#maybe i dont want my old jewish dad to keep getting harassed by these so called protesters screaming we are hamas at him????#maybe just maybe some of you are doing a bit of a jvp jew thing?? where you think denouncing consequences#for terrorist supporters you don't have to deal with will protect you from further antisemitic backlash??#spoiler alert it wont and even if it did you should not be throwing other jews under the bus in pursuit of that!!#gingerswagfreckles#antisemitism#leftist antisemitism#jumblr

One of the best examples of Piltover’s lack of genuine self-reflection is when Jayce decided to make hextech weapons for Caitlyn. I understand that he may have been rattled by Renni's attack during the memorial, but the only reason Renni even had the place stormed was because Jayce killed her son... with a hextech weapon! Renni literally told Jayce to his face this isn't some random act of violence, this is about revenge for her child that he shot and left to die on a cold factory floor.
And instead of internalizing the series of events that caused this specific situation, which was an act of retaliation against Jayce's own aggression. Instead he just made more weapons for Caitlyn and her team, as if that wasn't the reason things escalated in the first place. Jayce may have been remorseful for killing that kid, but any feelings he had about it were largely irrelevant to how it informed his actions later on.
#arcane#arcane ramble#jayce talis#piltover#chembaron renni#the death of Renni's son is incredibly irrelevant to Piltover's cast#jayce may have felt bad about it but he never actually changed bcuz of it#he didn't actually leave the council#he never apologized to anyone over it like renni the kid's mom#i don't even think he admitted what he did to anyone#mel seems to have known what happened but she confronts her mom over it instead of jayce#in the end there's no real institutional or personal accountability and it makes the foundations of ep 7 all the dumber#the lives of zaun and it's chikdren don't matter to piltover even when the consequences come to gut an enforcer#with a chainsaw in front of you#you'd think it was intentional but apparently not#jayce is an adult man how does he keep making the same mistakes within a window of a month??????

listen. there are a number of aspects in which c3 and divergence are not comparable and fundamentally work differently (namely the difference in construction between a long-form campaign and 4-part mini-series), but thematically? not only are they comparable, they are designed to be. divergence is being aired directly after the conclusion of c3 in order to further explore concepts introduced in its conclusion. a world with less connection to the gods, the effect of that on the faithful, how the average exandrian approaches the concept of faith in general (in multiple aspects), the connection between the divine and their mortal children, burgeoning hope from post-war darkness, etc. these are concepts we're being asked to compare with the finale of c3. so if someone says that divergence's handling of faith and exploration of the gods blows c3's out of the water, that's valid. if we were meant to be avoiding comparisons, a) they wouldn't have aired this immediately after c3, b) there wouldn't be so many overlapping concepts, and c) they wouldn't be holding off on having the wrap-up until divergence is over. divergence is in conversation with c3, actively and intentionally, and it puts a stark contrast on how poorly faith was handled in c3, but also things like. understanding character motivation. which yes, is going to shine more strongly in short-form content because you have to get the information out quickly, but is a valid thing to discuss if you genuinely feel you understand a short-form campaign character's goals better than you do a character you spent 4 years watching. it's the difference between a woman who has never been shown to seriously engage with the gods at all stating "i don't know if i want to save gods that don't love me" and the moonweaver saying "if the love is true, it will pass through the barrier" and us knowing that divine magic will continue to be granted to mortals, by the sheer love the primes hold for their children, complex as that love might be. and, fundamentally, divergence is an exploration of consequences. the consequences of the calamity on mortals and the gods and the earth itself, decimated as it is. so when people compare it to c3, when a major complaint of the campaign was lack of follow-through and exploration of consequences, divergence shines for being about exactly what a lot of people felt c3 was missing.
#there's something to be said about divergence being used as a method to explore c3's consequences outside the context of c3#and like. not positively. because it betrays bh's ignorance of history and lack of curiosity in actually exploring either the gods'#or the common people's opinions. the moonweaver declares that the divine gate will protect exandria from any god touching it#ever again#and bh made it so that they ALL would touch exandria again. divergence shows how mortaldom could be a major boon for the gods#but also betrays how dangerous it inevitably will be for common mortals to live in a world with direct divine intervention again#by drawing comparisons it kind of feels like c3 has undone the protections put in place here. hence casting them in a negative light#and sure turning the gods mortal is the best solution that bh had at the time sure. but it is UNFORGETTABLE#that there was a way to outright kill predathos that was never so much as alluded to in the text of the campaign#unforgettable. jesus.#cr spoilers#also imo if you're like 'you can have an opinion just don't state it like a fact' you are stupid and have never read an opinion before ig#stated like a fact. well it is in fact my opinion so i'm going to state it like a fact. because it is to me#anyway#cr tag

You can love Snape, but as a fan, I think it't undeniable that he had mouldy underwear and was so neglected that he likely overlooked many hygienic habits in childhood and adolescence, maybe even later on. You lot treat the fact that he was extremely poor and suffered the consequences as something that could never possibly have happened to the precious one lol
I have a whole ass meta on why him being unhygienic is not just "deniable", but highly unlikely and inconsistent with how he is portrayed. you are welcome.
also, the idea that all people who grew up in significant poverty are automatically unhygienic as adults is ridiculous and disgusting. saying this as a person whose mom grew up in Snape-like conditions.
#also just so you know white clothes gets grey (or greying as teen snape's underwear is called) when its old and it was washed too many times#an insight to you from a person who couldn't afford a lof of new clothes in childhood#“mouldy” lmao how fucking stupid is that yes Harry surely would just ignore the fact it was mouldy🥰#also the post obviously talked about adult Snape? like yeah he was dirty. as a 9 yo kid#you people piss me off with assuming that greasy hair is automatically unhygienic so fucking much😃#severus snape#pro severus snape#pro snape#severus snape meta#people who treat it like adult Snape having hygiene problems is “undeniably” canon shall learn reading comprehension#thank you for allowing me to love Snape tho how would i live without your permission baby🥺#Snape suffered the consequences of being extremely poor for sure. and he dealt with them. stop taking it from him. respect his damn effort

Ahaha!!! Here it's!! My fucked up guy!! Project 09 officially has a physical form :]

My weirdo fucking guy, anyway I randomly got possessed yesterday and drew this whole thing after months of agonizing over not knowing where to even start. Of course disclaimer I know nothing abt character design or robots, I just, put things my brain said good👍together and hope for the best
Closeups to the other thanglets and some lore under the cut
His twin Tails being the literal bane of his existance, for his whole short life, so of course at first he considered ridding off them completely, until an idea struck. What better than to turn them into deadly twin weapons he can decide just how painfull they should be at any given moment. Very much inspired by the Murder Drones nano tails things.
Now of course 09 is not big on combat and preffers just the rewards after the affair, but he's not an idiot to go without a weapon or two if he really has to throw a punch. Claws are pretty obvious, and than I rembered Sevika and her cool robot arm with a fucking sword in it, so I gave 09 a knife.
On his left hand I was considering an arm cannon but, I say 09 would appreciate two functional hands to tinker with.
Hes ambidextrous, but still prefers his right hand to do most things as his left was left, mostly, organic. Which he has complicated feelings about
The shut down mode has been first conceived in this post, but hey isn't it fucked up, the realization that most of your body doesn't belong to you at the end of the day? That someone else can decide to shut off or puppeteer it around whenever and however they please? That the only thing you can trully control is your right ear, left shoulder, and increasing need to breathe faster? All it takes is one fuck up and any autonomy is gone.
And you cant even cry about it least your only open airway gets stuffed
Ah, Sonic, of course. When the spirit of the wind and chaos himself meets the face of his little bro who is now and insufferable pattern obsessed control freak. Surely this will go well for the both of them :]
#sonic prime#project 09#im so normal im so normal#i shouldve been working on my school asigment instead but alas#consequences of procrastination and staying up late for fhe wrong thing are a future me's problem#for now I shall live the joy of showing you my favorite touy :]#Rusty will come to existance in approximately i have no fucking clue#miles nine prower#nine the fox#P09#me does arts#actually finished doodl#littol doodl

i love it when people get mad at sophie for burning down the storehouse. i also support sophie burning down the storehouse. these two things can coexist
#i have talked about this before . . . but i think it’s super realistic that people were mad at sophie#i liked that. first of all sophie was NOT perfect she DID burn the archetype. i was also not personally a fan of the moonlark symbol thing#but even about the stuff that was entirely justified. when you take a stand people will drag you down. it’s realistic. especially for elves#i don’t agree with them (especially stina . . . ) but that doesn’t mean it isn’t accurate to how something like that would be received#PEOPLE DOGPILING ON SOPHIE FOR THE FIRE WAS REALISTIC!!!! i like that sophie was grilled about it over and over. even if it was annoying#it’s all about the CONSEQUENCE. something big like that will always and SHOULD always have CONSEQUENCE#anyway having said all that live laugh love light (up that storehouse) sophie . . . i support this. leave the haters in the dirt#sophie foster#kotlc sophie#kotlc

Okay but I loved the final set up for the denouement of the Blue Castle and the way that the almost-getting-hit-by-a-train incident sets so much in motion, emotionally speaking, for both Valancy and Barney? And of course they misunderstand each other, Valancy especially misunderstanding him. She reads his actions in one way—he’s horrified at being stuck in a situation which has suddenly become long-term—and it makes SENSE for her to read it that way (more or less lol) but you as a reader know that that isn’t what he’s emotionally feeling, that instead he’s realizing he DOESN’t want her to die but (thinks that) she’s going to die anyway so it’s hitting him with newly-created grief! But she can’t see that and so her despair feels real, not just feigned, and that’s so good and so fun as the set-up for a romcom ending.
#the blue castle#lucy maud montgomery#like. it’s a very obvious thing to say. but I love when the Nadir of a romcom has a truthful moment where they feel they can’t be together#not just a shallow misunderstanding or missed phone call or note or whatever#and misunderstandings are often a part of that (was speaking on that with reference to David Copperfield the other day)#but in the best stories they’re connected to characters’ previous actions in a genuine way#they flow from their whole story!#Valancy chose to ask him to marry her only because she thought she had no time left. that’s#the catalyst for the new life they have. obviously.#and of course in a happy story that death-diagnosis is going to be reversed#but to have it be reversed where she has to feel the DOWNSIDES of that. I love it. and for Barney too!!!!#he had to have that moment of realizing that his actions have consequences too#that marrying someone out of pity/because she asked/because she will die soon/because why not has consequences too#and I don’t mean judging him morally like ‘that was a bad thing to do’ I just mean.#of course it will AFFECT HIS LIFE.#of course he will come to LOVE THIS PERSON.#of course the thought of her dying is not one that can be taken nonchalantly#even though it was baked into the deal at the beginning. not just baked in. the reason for it!#like. it has to be FELT. it has to be DEALT WITH#and for both him and Valancy it can’t just be ‘omg yay you’re going to live and we’re actually both happy about it’#‘cause we fell in love’ though of course the story is going there and always was going there#but just that moment of facing real loss that makes you face the real love. and for Valancy too the lie she told herself#about it not mattering if he loved her back. it always mattered!!!!! her dying wouldn’t make it not matter#and of course on some level he kind of DID already love her#(it’s a bit of William marrying Marianne in green dolphin street)#yes yes the act of compassion being the motivator but is that not love?? in its essence. in its CORE#IT IS!! but anyway yeah. to get back to my point. both characters had to feel that it was serious. that it had become serious AND#that it always was. that they had been changed by it. that they were unfit for life after it if life just meant going back to normal#there is no going back to normal. this is what I love about the arranged marriage trope#all that work and living that goes in before there is a (certain) kind of emotional force to it. and then the emotional force just EXPLODES

One thing that was a miss with me in-game but it's especially tiring to see in the fandom discussion surrounding the two endings of Expedition 33 is how heavily it focuses on Verso and Maellicia, their histories, their wishes etc.
Don't get me wrong, as main characters, it's natural they would have more relevance. However, any discussion surrounding this last choice centers on them and only them - at times, they might consider the Dessandre family into the equation, but that's it.
If you agree with the narrative that the Canvas world is fake, basically worthless, something that can be erased on a whim, that's the right approach. But why would you?
To begin with, if you think the Canvas world and its people's lives aren't worth anything, the game falls a bit flat. For most of it, we are fighting the Paintress to stop the Gommage, and then Renoir to restore the world. That's the important stake we are fighting for!
But more than that, if the only people worth mentioning are the ones from outside the Canvas, the choice isn't a true choice at all. In that light, Alicia is truly just holing herself up in a "Minecraft world" and needs to be dragged out by force if necessary. If Lumiere is fake and her true life is outside, the whole tension of the last confrontation falls apart. It's like trying to get your gamer family member to go out and socialize because they are becoming a shut-in.
But if Lumiere isn't fake. If the world is worth protecting, if the people inside are "real" and their relationships (even with Alicia) are real, then just handwaving the ending as "Alicia needs to move on", "Verso deserves agency" etc falls flat to me. There's a whole ass world they are fighting to protect/erase and those countless lives aren't even worth taking into account?
Just to be clear, if you are doing a study of Verso, or Maelle, or their relationship, then by all means, it makes sense to focus on them. But most discourse surrounding this game basically reduces the Canvas as fiction and not worth consideration compared to a single life of someone from the outside, and it's frustrating to see.

TW: TRAUMA CONSEQUENCES
I'm just SURE that Sam, Dean Castiel and Crowley activate each other's triggers, like
Imagine they all together in the bunker trying to find out something about a case that they will solve together, and an unconscious Crowley makes a little comment about "puritanism" and how Cas is no longer "pure" even though he is an angel
Cas purity complex trigger activates and just starts freaking out and Sam immediately goes to help him, but then Desn starts yelling and making loud noises berating Crowley for "breaking Cas", so now SAM is also freaking out because this activated his loud noises trigger
And then Crowley starts defending himself against Dean's comments and Dean says something about how they should have abandoned Crowley when they had the chance and this triggers Crowley's abandonment trigger, and Crowley, to defend himself, starts saying that if Dean or any of them tries to abandon him, he will drag them all to hell with him, what activates Dean's hell torture trauma trigger
And then they all start crying, Crowley throws Dean against the table choking him while Dean takes a demon knife and puts it near Crowley's neck and they both start screaming more and more while trying to contain their tears
While Cas is still freaking out repeating things like "I am impure" or "I don't deserve to be an angel" and Sam is trying to help him but the screams and loud noise are making him cover his ears tightly while they tear up too
In the end Sam just screams "PLEASE JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP" and everyone freezes realizing what they are doing and trembles a little before stopping crying and slowly moving
Crowley lets go of Dean's neck, Dean takes the knife out of Crowley's neck and sits at the table in thought
Sam stands up breathing heavily and gives Cas his hand to get up too
Everyone agrees to continue this tomorrow and Sam and Cas go watch netflix in Sam's room while Crowley and Desn stay in the living room reading magazines without looking directly at each other
#team self-willed#traumas have consequences#like triggers and weird actions so I think this is pretty accurate#they are all so fucked up#but they really enjoy each other's company and have honestly become codependent#so it's not like they can get out of it#They are not good for each other but no one lives only around those who are good to you#am i right?#supernatural#spn#sam winchester#dean winchester#castiel#crowley#crowley spn#castiel spn

sorry, I've not been following long so I'm a bit lost
Is it the bull fight that Faiza and Janeys are looking forward to, or is Ibrija taking part in another (potentially) lethal ritual?
The bullfight he was in happened a decade prior to Present Day and is unrelated to the main story, it's just what got Ibrija into the public eye within his province.
There's one state-officiated human sacrifice per year (not counting the bullfight which Can be a human sacrifice, or ritualized executions that would be Lumped In with sacrifices from an outsider lens), which is performed at the end of a pilgrimage to the site of creation. Unlike the bullfight this is just a direct sacrificial killing of a human, with the same methods used on sacred animals. Ibrija is the intended offering this year.
This is the single most important sacrificial act within this religious sphere because it's the completion of the cycle of the year, this death is a reenactment of creation and allows the world At Large to be reborn (most sacrificial killings (aside from the one that keeps the sun from dying) are Much smaller in their intended scale and are offerings to like, individual rivers or specific crops or etc). This hasn't been working so well lately because it's six years into the most acute drought in recorded history and it feels like the world is literally dying. Droughts aren't uncommon but they usually pass more quickly, or the conditions are less severe, and the typical ritual responses to drought conditions have all failed.
Ibrija is intended to be the 'standard procedure we do this every year' human offering, while the titular white calf is the 'these are not standard circumstances, the pathways of God's living spirit have been sundered from the earth, this calf was given as an answer to our prayers and we've been tasked with its nurturing and sacred slaying' offering.
The main reason Ibrija hasn't come up as much is he dies prematurely about midway through the story lol.
#There's technically 3 sacrifices that happen for the religious angle of fixing the drought but the third is just because the procedure to#create a new Odomache has been tacked on to this otherwise unrelated rite. You have to kill a lion for that one.#The religious logic is 'the previous Odomache was killed and defiled and denied proper funerary rites' -> 'the same year the winter#rainy season failed and then continued failing for 6 years' -> 'this death severed the connection of God's living spirit to the earth and#the drought is the consequence' -> 'that's why the usual procedures aren't working' -> 'the calf has been given to grant us#the ability to fix this' -> 'this rite will allow the world to be reborn and we can successfully make a new Odomache afterwords'#-> 'all severed pathways will thus be restored and the world will be renewed in whole and the drought will end. hopefully.'#This is just the religious angle though there's a lot of political machinations involved in this + this is in tandem with more directly#practical attempts at famine relief. Also there's a lot of internal arguing among the priesthoods as to whether or not this change in#procedures is the correct path to take on both pragmatic and spiritual levels. Like whether the signs have been read properly#and whether this is much more intensive version of the usual pilgrimage is a massive waste of state resources and etc#Really bad headache rn sorry if any of this is worded confusingly

for pez dispenser debris, has the third sports festival not happened yet or did it happen and it just wasn’t as cool as the second one
Ehhh, this one is kind of a loose thread I’ve been leaving open to do something with if I come up with something cool, but in my mind I’ve sort been playing with the idea that Class 3-A didn’t compete their third year.
The rest of the year didn’t want to compete with them for reasons of personal safety (they were all completely insane and known biters) and the school didn’t want to let them compete for reasons of legal liability. Literally every single year they had competed, these kids had tried to kill each other on live tv. Izuku and Todoroki had tried to murder specifically each other twice. Uraraka put Bakugou in a medically induced coma after their second match. Every single year they cut it closer to a fatal injury, and considering the year before involved a medically induced coma, they thought their luck might just run out the third time around.
There were also safety concerns about just how much information they were letting out about these kid’s Quirks. Before, it wasn’t as much of an issue? The UA sports festival was big, don’t get me wrong, but it usually resulted in the high performers getting recognized by a few more dedicated heroics fans for a few days after the event. Other heroics students looked at them so they could kick their ass in exams, but villains weren’t exactly bothered enough by heroic students to actually study them up in advance of their debut. But for Class 3-A? Villains were watching them.
And the Sports Festival just didn’t do for them what they needed it to anymore. It was meant to be an advertisement of their ability. A way to say “hey, look out for me,” and get agencies, the press, and the public primed for their careers. Class 3-A doesn’t need help with any of that. They are already too famous. But Class 3-B and the rest of their year? They could use a time to shine.
Class 3-A sort of sucks the fucking air out of the fucking room, honestly. Especially for Class B. Like. They are part of the most famous generation of heroes to come out of UA. And they are the less impressive, mostly unknown class. The rest of the school sort of has mixed feelings about Class 3-A. They’re proud of them, but it sucks being their classmates.
There’s nothing to be done about it. Class 3-A has just taken way too big a position in the public eye. The school could put the entire year on with them as usual and give them no special treatment, and the news would still only give a shit about what 3-A did. They’re actively detracting from their classmate’s abilities to get noticed, because everyone’s too busy fawning over one class out of eight.
The teachers also had to have a serious conversation about how including Class 3-A legitimately introduced concerns of societal destabilization. Aizawa had to take some deep breaths to will his way through that conversation.
Again, after their second year, the public started considering Class 3-A a source of new hope—with Izuku at the forefront as the next symbol of peace. A huge amount of that and to do with the miracle they pulled off handling the Tartarus Prison Break. But specifically Izuku came out of the entire mess with a lot of global hope riding on his shoulders.
He was the new unbeatable hero. The world had lost the guy who could be counted on to win any fight when All Might retired. But there was Izuku, shiny and bouncy and fresh to fight, whose Quirk was everything All Might’s was and more. And he had won fights that during Yokohama that no one thought he would win.
Taking down the Fatal Five was a big part of it. I have all this lore built up in my mind around them, these fanfictions villains who only exist in my head and are only based off canon in the loosest sense. It’s so dramatic in my head. There’s espionage. There’s betrayal. There’s gay love. I can’t get into that it’s too far afield. But when they were active, people were legitimately afraid of going outside. They were the only villains that All Might noticeably relied on help to defeat, because Sir Nighteye was so fundamental to their final capture.
Defeating them without All Might seemed more likely than defeating All for One and the League, but not by much. It was expected to take months, if not years, to recapture them again. These were villains who were credited with hundreds of fatalities—and the confirmed injuries clocked at over a thousand. They were city destroyers during their first run. People were absolutely fucking terrified of them doing it all a second time.
Izuku and Mirio pulled off an absolute Hail Mary play with their takedown. No one thought they would win, including them. They couldn’t let these guys go without a fight, but they also thought that they probably weren’t making it out the other side of this match. They weren’t aiming to die, but that just made this a kamikaze where they hoped to survive the plane crash. They went into this fight expecting to both die.
They understood that they lost this match up 99 times out of 100. But they told themselves that they just needed to find the one time they won and make it tonight. And just barely, through a lot of luck, they managed it. People lost their minds when news broke that the Fatal Five had been defeated by two teenagers.
And as stated in a different post, Izuku gets primary credit for taking down all of them because most of the fight happened where no one could see it and people love to discredit Mirio’s abilities. Not everyone thought that way, but the ones that did? They thought it was a sign Izuku would be better than All Might. Izuku did it without help. Even though, objectively, this was very much a two man job.
It was enough to make the world start hoping that Izuku was their new unbeatable hero. He had already won fights that should be unwinnable. So if he could beat the Fatal Five, then maybe he can beat every other opponent he faces. Maybe he can replace All Might.
What happens if that kid fucking loses a low stakes sparring match?
As it stood, Izuku, Todoroki, and Bakugou were considered the most likely to win the third year’s festival. But the other kids were fantastic, and they had a shot still even if it wasn’t as good. So how does the world react if some random fucking kid in class b manages an underwhelming victory after Izuku fumbles it?
Izuku’s existence in pez is basically that wad of napkins you wedge under the short leg of a wobbly table to try and make it stay level but like. For global social stability. Class 3-A rolling up to Yokohama and throwing hands with a bunch of adult murderers and somehow fucking winning is the reason why this Japan isn’t at the Refugees In UA And Chaos In The Streets portion of canon. They were so sparkly and inspiring and heroic that the entire country unified around loving and believing in them and shit stabilized. And everyone stopped freaking out about what they were going to do without All might because the next one was already in the pipe.
So what the fuck do you do if your new unbeatable mega celebrity hero fucking eats it at his friendly school sparring match and proves to everyone that he is, in fact, fallible on live TV? What if the entire class has an off day and does poorly, thereby undermining the current reason the world has for hope?
You’ve got a class that’s so unprecedentedly important that the school has to field phone calls from world leaders feeling out what the situation is with the ol’ sports festival. The fuck do you do about it?
It became almost unfair to the other students to make them fight against Class A, which is what Present Mic said and immediately got both Aizawa and Vlad King violently mad at him.
Aizawa, because he has started to profoundly resent the implication that his kids somehow need to atone to the rest of the school. Admittedly they’re all completely insane and do bite but that’s unrelated to why the rest of the school resents him so it’s a nonissue. Fuck everyone, it’s not their fault that adults have tried to kill them since like their fourth day of school, and UA has never handed out participation medals. If they wash out against his kids it’s because they just weren’t as good.
Vlad, meanwhile, was angry at the implication that his kids weren’t as good as Class A and needed to have them taken out of the running entirely to even stand a shot. Fuck you.
There was a lot of yelling.
But Mic just meant that it was unfair to pit them against Class A in the eyes of the public. Like, hey kids, let’s have a good ol’ fashioned competition for fun, do your best, but just as a reminder that if Midoriya from class a doesn’t win then it may legitimately destabilize the nation. Yeah the ministry of finance called he’s worried about the economic ramifications. But don’t worry, because no one really thinks you’ll beat him anyway. Now let’s all get out there and have fun.
It just felt like it set everyone up to fail while giving villains more footage to find potential weaknesses with. The school decided to just cut them from the competition, which Aizawa shouted at a lot of people about, even though he wanted them cut when the conversation started. He wanted the world to have less of them to chew at, and then he got mad at the implication that his kids somehow would be a problem if they got to participate in a school wide event. He talked himself all the way around to the other side out of spite.
They told Class A that they had lost privileges to the sports festival because they had repeatedly tried to murder each other and also everyone else on live TV, which was fair, really. The school didn’t trust them to not almost kill each other again, which was a concern Class A understood and agreed with, because they were totally going to do that. Plus Ultra, Sensei.
I think they let the kids do like an escape room or something just so they wouldn’t be totally left out, which they ended up televising to quell some of the backlash after they announced Class 3-A would not be participating in that year’s sports festival. It didn’t endear them to the rest of their classmates, because Class 3A Tries To Leave A Room In Groups of Five With Only Marginal Success turned out to be more popular than the sports festival. It bred some resentment amongst the other students, because to them, it seemingly confirmed that the faculty thought of them as lesser than class 3-a.
In the school’s defense, they did have concerns about someone actually murdering the other on live tv and having to deal with the liability. Through sheer luck of the fucking draw, Izuku and Bakugou had never had to do a one on one match with each other for two years running. They couldn’t possibly be that lucky a third time, and someone would die, and the stadium would probably be destroyed in the process, and bystanders would die, and what would they say in the lawsuit? Oh, we didn’t know they’d do that? They try to do that every time. They thought that doing a nice escape room involving no physical contact whatsoever would prevent injuries.
There were still injuries.
#pez dispenser debris#Aizawa’s taking sabbatical if this class doesn’t kill him#he’s already told Nedzu#if society is still standing he and Eri are going on vacation somewhere out of this nightmare country#no one criticizes his insane little shits except him#in my mind Aizawa carries an absolutely fucking enormous amount of guilt over how their tenure went#people have already started calling this class the greatest class of heroes UA has ever produced#there’s some kind of magic about them#they’re a lightning strike#he’s never had a class of kids who loved each other so fiercely and recklessly#they’re a miracle in a bottle and Aizawa’s fucking terrified because the rest of the world has caught onto that#thank god his kids are like feral and asocial raccoons raised in isolation who have never talked to a fucking person in their lives because#otherwise they would have caught on by now#he counted on their crippling codependency aversion to talking to people not in their class and deeply oblivious natures to carry him#through. and by god miracles do happen. or maybe they’re just that stupid. Aizawa’s doing his best.#he’s fucking stressed tho#in pez Izuku has in fact confirmed he’s as unstable as a dying star and like. of course it’s the fucking kid whose existence affects the#value of the fucking yen.#like do yall ever think about the economic implications of all mights retirement#japans already a hot tourist locale and while all might was active it was the safest country in the world#now the worlds most dangerous man is on the loose and every other week the heroes fail to contain a new disaster because they haven’t done#their jobs in like 30ish years and didn’t expect to have to start now#like real talk there’s an entire discussion about how some of the most damaging ramifications of terrorist attacks are the economic#consequences. people get afraid to go outside stop going to stores and work and the economy suffers. bush straight up asked Americans to#keep shopping after 9/11. it’s a whole thing. bnha japans economy is fucking wrecked let me tell you. like they went from the most stable#country on the planet to foreign nations issuing travel advisories about them in record time. Izuku represents a return to stability in a#country absolutely desperate for it. if he shows cracks then the world gets afraid and the consequences are vast and unpredictable#which like. how the fuck do you put that on a kid. how do you tell him he’s got his finger in a dam and the entire worlds on the other side
