Tumblr media
In another universe, Ace is a member of the Marines and you are his colleague from the same division.
In this universe, specifically, Portgas D. Ace, the son of the wanted Gol D. Roger in another timeline, is an exceptional Marine with a driving passion for his work and a renowned hatred for the pirates that conquer the seas. In this universe, you are Portgas D. Ace's secondhand, who later become a Commander under Captain Ace's leadership.
The admirable grit of your duo is one thing that the Marine upholds. Ordinary soldiers look up to you, while Admirals respect the dedication that you two put in maintaining the Marine code of conduct. There is no one else like your pair.
Lately, however, a few oddities have caught your attention.
Tumblr media
"Hey. Take this to Garp's quarters."
You spin on your heel as you feel a leather bag poke your ribcage. Standing beside you is your black-haired freckled partner, whose Marine uniform is yet again unruly and not a bit presentable for the title he holds and the respect he receives. Grabbing the bag from his hold, you point at a mysterious stain on his uniform.
"What's that?" you question.
Ace follows the direction of your eyes, landing on the collar of his inner dress shirt. "Uh, this? Dunno. Got it somewhere from a battle, I guess."
You roll your eyes.
"Sure. Just another one of the dark stains that you get from a battle without the sight of blood," you deadpan. Ace's lips morph into a sheepish smile. "I know what that is, idiot."
"He-he, just checking. I thought you wouldn't notice," comes his excuse.
"Everyone notices the scent of grilled meat on you, Ace. A food stain is no different." You shake your head. "Anyway, I'll catch you later. Garp's office, you say?"
"Yeah. He should be there."
After saluting to your Captain, you march to Vice Admiral Garp's office that is located in the far west wing of the base. On your way to his office, you encounter an unpleasant sight between a horde of your men and the Vice Admiral himself.
In the far end of the hallway come the marching crowd toward the where you just came from. The Vice Admiral, with his giant and brawny build, pokes out from the crowd as he walks side-by-side of what seems to be a lanky man in his 40s, his hands restrained by a pair of handcuffs made of Seastone.
As they approach, you ask one of your men in the frontlines.
"What's the meaning of this?"
The man salutes.
"Commander. We are taking the possessor of the Memo Memo no Mi to Impel Down. We must sail this evening under Admiral Fujitora's orders."
You look past the soldier to inspect the man in question. Vice Admiral Garp washes him out by a ton with their height difference, as well as the muscular composition of their bodies. His hair is matted and unkempt, and his clothes are ragged and baggy. He has his head down as he saunters with the group, like he's afraid of being seen in this feeble state.
As he comes close, however, he raises his head, then looks at you.
"You have an interesting life," he says. Vice Admiral Garp and the Marines who hear this look at him, surprised that he has spoken since his arrival this morning.
"Me?" you ask in disbelief.
The man grins odiously.
"You're the great first mate of the Spade Pirates." Stopping in his tracks, he chuckles. The Marine behind him barks an order to continue walking. Your vision darkens. "You're— you were a great pirate."
Your men look at you, some in horror and some in anticipation of your response to the strange statements. You grit your teeth.
"What the hell are you talking about?" you growl. "I was never a pirate."
He laughs.
"Of course not, but in your first life, you were."
Your look hardens into a glare. Garp yawns, and with a forceful push of the man's shoulder, he orders him back to walking forward.
"Stop yapping, get moving! I'm going to miss my nap time," he yells. The Marines follow suit. He then notices the bag in your hand. "Good timing, Commander (Y/N). Just in time for my departure. I'll see you in a few days."
The Vice Admiral claims his luggage.
"You're going, too, Vice Admiral?"
"The jerks up there said I must," he says.
You nod. "I see."
You go back to your post as you part ways with the pack. They transport the handcuffed man to the coastal area of the base, where a heavily guarded Marine ship is docked and a Seastone cell awaits the Devil Fruit user in its lower deck.
On their way to the coast, Ace runs into Garp, his grandfather, and decides to tag along to oversee the progress of the mission. Before the shaggy man is taken away into the ship, he speaks to Ace in a wary tone.
"Be careful with the power you hold, Fire Fist," he tells the Captain, leaving the young man disturbed as the ship prepares to sail away.
Tumblr media
Deep in the night a couple of hours later, you reunite with Ace in the mess hall for dinner. As usual, he comes back to your table with three plates loaded with different dishes, not accounting for the seconds that he will be taking later.
With some of your men gone for the recent mission, you and Ace sit alone together at a table.
"Did you know that they were on that mission?" you ask him.
Ace chomps on a rack of ribs, the barbecue sauce staining the corners of his mouth. "What mission?"
"The one with the weird guy," you say. "Uh, I'm assuming you saw him. Old guy, messy hair, looks like he hasn't taken a bath in a month?"
"Oh." He swallows. "I saw him. He was weird. I'm glad I didn't have to deal with that."
"Weird, huh? Did you talk to him?"
"He told me something about fire and a fist." The Captain laughs. "It sounds ridiculous. No wonder why he's going to Impel Down. Something must be wrong in here."
He taps the side of his head with a finger. You snort.
"He spoke to me as well," you admit. Ace looks at you through his peripheral vision as he picks up a bowl of mashed potatoes. It's heated and well-cooked, just the way he loves them. "He told me I was a pirate in my first life. Can you believe that?"
"I do," your partner chirps.
You glare at him.
"Not the time for jokes, Ace. He said that I was the first mate of the Spade Pirates, or whatever that crew is." You look down at your food, feeling the heat waves hit your face. "Is there even such a thing as the Spade Pirates?"
"We can figure that out now that Garp is gone," suggests Ace. You look unamused. "Just kidding, he-he."
After dinner, you retreat to the barracks. You change into a set of pajamas and slip under the covers of your bed. As soon as your eyelids close, you drift off to a deep sleep.
Tumblr media
"Come with me," he tells you, flashing a smile that you have never seen before: lips tight, eyes soft. Strands of his wavy black hair blow on his face as the sea breeze comes and goes, covering his freckles and his smile of sincerity.
"I can't leave Dadan alone." You tell him. He frowns. "I'm sorry."
"She'll be safe with Luffy. Now, come on!"
He tugs your arm toward the shore, where a small boat floats on the water with a thin sail and a couple bags of food that pool around the mast. He hops in the boat. He wears his trademark hat on his head, an orange cowboy hat with a rim of red beads and two smileys in front.
"There's room for one more person and some luggage!"
"I'd rather not, Ace," you say firmly.
Ace purses his lips together. "Are you scared?"
"Uh, no? I told you, I just can't leave this place."
He rests one foot on the edge of the boat. Leaning toward you, he says, "Come with me, please. We'll travel the Grand Line together, and in a few years, maybe we can recruit Luffy into our—"
"Your pirate crew," you finish. "I-I get it, but I can't. I'm not fit for that kind of life."
"You'll be my first mate."
You sigh.
"And what will your pirate crew be named as, Captain Ace?"
He laughs heartily, his bright white teeth showing as his eyes form into crescents.
"The Spade Pirates."

Are you currently learning from anyone how to play any instruments? Nope. I’ve never been musically-inclined and it’s always been impossible for me to pick up skills in any instrument, even if we had music classes in my old school from first grade all the way up to senior year.
Are you one of those people who always tend to think critically in issues? Yes. Sometimes my emotions would want to take over, but at the end I always prefer to be skeptical, ask a lot of questions, and see all sides in an issue. I feel like critical thinking is such a big part of the degree I took up anyway, especially with all the hullabaloo about fake news and which news sources to trust, so...
Do you know anyone who is overly flirty with people? Girl or a boy? I can remember a few girls from my high school but they could have changed within the last four years. I remember several girls and boys from college, too.
When was the last time you had any kind of pork? What kind was it? Last night. Pork belly.
Are you someone who normally eats a full breakfast every single morning? No, not normally. If I wake up feeling a little better than usual I’ll go downstairs and get some bread and eggs, but most of the time I skip all meals except dinner.
Do you believe vampires are real? No.
Are you someone who has to hide the things you like around friends? Sometimes, just because I genuinely want to keep some things that I enjoy to myself. I also have some interests that are a little uncommon and simply won’t make for a productive or fun conversation, like wrestling, so I don’t raise topics like those around my friends. ‘Hide’ is a little harsh, though...my friends certainly don’t make me feel like I have to hide my true self. At the end of the day I just like keeping quiet about my interests and letting others have the spotlight.
Have you ever been to a porn website? Were you addicted to it afterwards? Yeah since middle school lol. I still remember how big of a sin it had felt when I typed in a URL for the very first time. Anyway, I wouldn’t say I was ever a porn addict but I did have phases where I’d watch nearly everyday, and then stop for months, and then repeat the habit again.
What is the most disgusting thing you think the opposite sex can do? Cat-calling is one of them < Jesus, I remember how catcalling was such a pre-Covid norm...one of the very few reasons why I’m glad to be staying at home.
Would you rather be able to teleport or freeze time? Which one seems best? Teleport. I don’t think freezing time will help me especially if it’s to be stuck in a happier moment; I’ll have to unfreeze in the end anyway, and it’s just a sucky truth that I have no control over. I feel that teleporting has a lot more uses, like skipping traffic lol.
Have you seen the movie Twister? Did the tornadoes look real to you? I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of it. The only Twister that comes to mind is the party game.
Have you actually been through a devastating natural disaster before? We always get devastating hurricanes a few times a year but my family and our home has always been on the fortunate side since my parents made sure we relocated somewhere that wasn’t prone to floods. The old house we used to live in, though, is super vulnerable to typhoons and it has definitely flooded all the way up to the ceiling there before. It’s a big reason why we moved.
Did your mom ever fix your eggs and bacon into a smiley face as a kid? I wasn’t fed bacon as a kid, so I guess not.
What fast food place, in your opinion, has the best french fries? Jollibee, and this is a hill I would happily die on.
Do you believe one day aliens might take over the planet Earth? No. I like to hold out belief for aliens, but I wouldn’t want to immediately assume that they would be the colonizer type.
Are you someone who always looks for sales when you go shopping somewhere? I don’t actively seek them out, but if I spot an item I like that’s on sale then I’m more likely to buy them and just consider it my lucky day, heh.
Are you constantly re-arranging your bedroom? Or do you not like change? I only do once every few years. The last time I did was a couple of weeks ago; the last time before that was 4-5 years ago.
Who would you consider the best teen actor or actress out there now? The only one I could think of is Jacob Tremblay, but I’ve only ever seen him in Room and that movie’s five years old now. Oh but Iain Armitage is amazing too.
When did you last cuddle up next to someone and watch a movie? Start of the year would be my best guess.
Where would people most likely find you out on the weekends? Just home, unless my family or friends made plans to go out. For the most part though, I like catching up on rest after a week of school/work.
Do you like the school you attend or is it just pretty bland to you? I loved my university. The atmosphere there felt extremely freeing and nobody gave a shit about what anyone wore, what pronouns people prefer for themselves, etc. It was such a beautiful place to explore and figure myself out in the last four years.
Do you remember when they used to actually throw candy out at parades? I don’t think I’ve been to a parade.
What is your favorite childhood memory? Who did you share this with? Playing outside nearly every afternoon, then going home for dinner and alternating between Nickelodeon, Disney, and Cartoon Network because our favorite programs were all over those three channels. I shared these with my neighbors (for playing outside), and then with my siblings and cousins (for watching TV).
Are there any windows open in your house right now? Which ones, if so? A couple of my windows are open to let some of the cold air in.
Is it currently your favorite season? If not what is your favorite? Yes, I love the rainy season. I haven’t had to worry about sweating these days which makes life a lot less annoying.
Do you like soda pop? If so, which is your favorite and least favorite? Don’t those two words refer to the same thing? Lol but I don’t drink soda. I’ve tried so many times to get into it but it’s always felt like putting my tongue and throat on fire.
Does it bother you when people burp around you or do you do it too? I do it around family and close friends. They can burp around me too. Personally, I only find burping gross if it’s strangers that I catch doing it.
Do you have any siblings you’re embarrassed of being related to? A little bit but it’s whatever.
Which noises do you currently hear right now? Can you control those? There’s a Good Mythical Morning video from my phone, the fan whirring behind me, and a dog barking somewhere outside. The only noise I can’t control is the dog, because they aren’t mine and I don’t know which house they’re from.
What is one thing you’ve never understood throughout your life? Catcalling. Like, why?
When you see an old person do you think ‘sweet’ or ‘creepy?’ For the most part, neither. I’ve thought ‘sweet’ or ‘creepy’ about old people in the past, but they have to be doing something to cause me to feel that way.
What is it that makes old women want so many cats in their life? Company, I’m guessing. But I don’t think it’s fair to generalize old women lol.
How many times a day do you wash your face? Do you wash it really good? Once, when I take my daily shower. I’ve always had clear skin so I don’t like washing it too hard, or too much, or using products on my face. Just a few splashes of water have worked fine for my face in the last 22 years.
Would you consider yourself to have a boring life or a really exciting one? I’d say it’s generally exciting right now because a lot of changes are happening and I’m finally out of school and pursuing real jobs and everything, but Covid has definitely given it a boring turn.
Do you ever talk to people you met online through webcam? Or is that weird? I’ve only done so with Carley. It’s not weird if you’re already close.
Who was the last person you kissed and why did you kiss this person? Gab. She was leaving.
How many fish have you owned in your lifetime, so far? Did they all die? We were allowed to own a lot of goldfish when we were kids but yeah, they’re all dead now.
If you were to get drunk right now, how would you most likely act? Cry, drunk text the wrong person, try to take the rest of this survey drunk.
How many people have you kissed in your lifetime so far? Who were they? One.
Are you going to post this on a social networking site after you take it? Yeah, that has always been the point of this Tumblr.
Is there something people in general do that bothers you a lot? This only applies to Christians, but being jerks and going back to their old ways immediately after attending church. I have never understood that, and never will. Like, why even attend???? What is your point of being there??
Has anything supernatural ever happened to you? What were these events? Nothing like seeing ghosts or whatever but I’ve had some odd premonitions before, especially on the day my grandfather died.
How many concerts have you seen so far in life? Were they good ones? I’ve gone to a lot of local gigs that feature popular local acts; the best ones I saw were Ysanygo, The Ransom Collective, and BP Valenzuela (who I’ve seen thrice, aaaahhhh). Foreign acts I’ve watched are Coldplay, One Direction (kind of twice, but it’s a long story), and Paramore (twice). I don’t remember disliking a singer or band that I’ve seen perform.
Do you like doing anything your friends wouldn’t expect you to do? Doing surveys is probs on top of that list, ha.
Can you sing very well or are you considerably tone deaf? I’m not tone-deaf, but I don’t have a talent in singing.
Do you ever look back on the past years and wish you could go back? Yes.
When will the next time be you’ll talk to the cousin you’re closest to? I have no clue. Christmas is my best guess.
Are you really into vintage things? Have you ever been into that stuff? Not so much, but investing on a turntable is consistently on my mind as I’ve always had a dream of collecting vinyl records.
When was the last time you bought new sheets for your bed? It’s been a while. Can’t remember.

Exploring the Alternate Universe with Ygo Ferraz of Ysanygo
Tumblr media
Ygo’s one of the coolest kids I know in the music scene. He started out making his own stuff at a really young age. He along with his sister Ysa has been making really good music for the last 2 years. Let’s know more about the duo, and the gear Ygo uses onstage.
How did you start making music and playing the guitar?
I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old. I learned classical guitar first, but I'd play electric from time to time. I started making the music last 2016. I began producing with GarageBand on an iPad 2.
Tumblr media
How did Ysanygo start out?
Ysanygo started out back in 2017 when Ysa joined a songwriting competition at her school. She had lyrics and a melody, but no musical accompaniment. I happened to have an electronic track which I produced a few months before the competition. We decided to use it for her song.
Sadly, we didn't win the competition. A few days later, we thought about posting the song on major music streaming platforms just for fun. Everything else followed after we uploaded it, and we decided to take this musical endeavor seriously!
“Always play with emotion. It really changes the way you sound! It gives your riffs more life and feelings. As you play, it's like you're telling a story.”
Who are your main influences? And how did they inspire you to play better?
I listen to Phony Ppl, Tom Misch, Daniel Caesar, Mura Masa, and Passion Pit, to name a few. Their chord choices and guitar riffs heavily inspire the way I produce music. I always look for that "oomph" in music that makes your face melt.

Tell us more about your music.
Ysanygo is a duo composed of my sister and I. We don't really restrict our music to one genre, which is why we call ourselves a "no-genre" duo. Last March, we released our latest single entitled "Even in an Alternate Universe", which you can find on Spotify, Apple Music, and other music streaming platforms! We post our schedule every month on our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
Tell us about your guitars. Which is your favorite one and why?
My first ever guitar is a Suzuki classical guitar which was a Christmas gift from my parents. I probably learned almost everything with that guitar. I still use it till now, when I want to compose a song.
Tumblr media
My second guitar is Steven Harris Les Paul. It was a birthday gift from my parents! I had it since I was in sixth grade. I used it for a while at gigs.
My third guitar is a Manuel Rodriguez Caballero II classical guitar. I use it for guitar class and recitals.
Tumblr media
My fourth guitar is a Squier (Standard) Telecaster. I still don't know the specific model, though. At the moment, this is my primary guitar for shows.

Let’s take a look at your pedalboard and other gear. What effects do you use live?
I use a Digitech RP55 Multi-FX pedal and a Line 6 Relay G30 wireless system. I use reverb, chorus, wah, and dirt (overdrive) for live performances. I also use a laptop with an Akai MPKMini Mk II (running on ), an iPad, a Focusrite Scarlett, and a mixer aside from the guitar gear I have. What amps do you use at home and live?
I use this really old Greg Bennett practice amp at home. I like using Twin Reverb amps for live performances.
What are you listening to right now?
You may be surprised! I'm listening to a lot of K-pop and K-R&B right now. There's something about their music that I really vibe with. Their songs are composed and produced really well since Korean artists really value musicality. I enjoy listening to artists such as Zion. T, Twice, and DEAN, to name a few.
Tumblr media
Photo by: Miguel Herce What advice can you give to your fellow guitar players and musicians who want to play like you do?
Always play with emotion. It really changes the way you sound! It gives your riffs more life and feelings. As you play, it's like you're telling a story.

All About the Letter Y
Animals I Like: Yaks. Foods I Like: Yakitori, yema. I Know Someone Who’s (jobs): Yoga instructor. I Wouldn’t Mind Visiting: Yokohama. Sometimes I Feel: ...like yawning. Cheated it a bit, heh. Music I Listen To: Ysanygo! Saw them live once and they were so good, but I can’t listen to their music as much as I would like to because Gab and I had one of our worst fights in the middle of their set, sigh. I always associate them with that night now, and it’s not a pretty memory to relive. Oh well, still love them. Also, listened to Youth of Today in high school. Movies I’ve Seen: Your Name, The Yellow Handkerchief. Names I Like: Yohan, Yvette.
And now, onto the random questions! 1. Do you have a yard? Is it a big yard or a small yard? I suppose we have a backyard, but we’ve never called it that. The size is just right. It’s big enough for my dad to play basketball and have lots of space to move and run around, and for the dogs to run around in as well.  2. Is yellow your favorite color? It used to be one of my least favorite colors back when it used to be associated with brightness or being happy. But now that mustard yellow’s becoming sort of a trend in clothes, I’m starting to like yellow a little bit as long as it’s muted. 3. Do you say “yes” more often than you say “no”? Yeah. I’m a people pleaser. It almost physically hurts me to have to turn people down, and this is what I was talking about when it comes to Gab having to scold me all the time for being overly generous lol. 4. Who are you? 24601? 5. Have you ever yanked your own tooth out? No, that makes me wince. When I was a kid I just waited for a loose tooth to be accidentally hit whenever I chewed. 6. Do you eat egg yolks? That’s the best part of the egg, man. The runnier, the better. 7. What’s your favorite flavor yogurt? I hate yogurt. Had my mom buy me a cup at age 5 because it looked delicious on the ads, but I found it very sour from the first bite. It was such a disconnect from how I expected it to taste like that I haven’t had a scoop of yogurt ever since. 8. How often do you use YOLO? Probably a couple dozen times when I was 13-14. It became viral so quick and got old even more quickly. 9. Have you ever done yoga before? No. 10. Have you ever created a project out of yarn? In grade school art class we most likely did. They always made us bring random stuff we can create artworks with, like crushed leaves, magazine clippings, fuzzy wire, etc. 11. Are you any good with a yo-yo? I used to be able to do the walk the dog trick, but that’s it. We always had fake yo-yos so they were never any good to practice on. 12. Have you ever been on a yacht before? If my memory serves me right, no. 13. Do you yell often? No. I hate when people raise their voice, so I don’t do that a lot myself. 14. When someone else yawns, is it contagious? It sure is. This question alone was. 15. When puppies yip, does it break your heart? When Cooper was a new arrival at home it did kinda break my heart for a bit. I’ve never had a puppy before so I just thought whining always meant that they needed immediate, urgent attention. Now that I know that minding them every time will just make them learn to keep whining for every little inconvenience, I’ve been better at ignoring him. 16, Do you like yams? I like some purple yam (ube)-flavored stuff, but that’s it. 17. How’s your year been so far? A lot of it’s been wasted, but that’s no surprise anymore.  18. Do you know someone who just can’t stop yapping? My mom can get very talkative and can also complain too much. 19. Do you like the character Yoshi? Is he one of your favorites from video games? I like his ~legacy~ but I never pick him as a character when I play Mario games. 20. Do you consider yourself to be young or old? Young. I’ve barely scratched the surface.
