I redesign the fenghuangs because their canon versions never convinced me 🤔 So here they are!
I've tried to resemble their designs with birds, according to the fenghuang race. Also, I have the headcanon that they are actually bald and they use wigs to cover their heads. I have a loooot of ideas about that especific thing, so I hope to have time to develop that in the future

[Hanfu · 漢服]Chinese Western Han (202 BC–9 AD) Traditional Clothing Hanfu Photoshoot
She is the emperor's sister, She is also the emperor's aunt.

【About Princess Guantao Liu Piao/馆陶公主刘嫖】 Princess Guantao, Liu Piao (born before 188 BCE—died before 116 BCE), was the daughter of Emperor Wen of Han and Empress Dou, and the sister of Emperor Jing of Han. She was granted the title of Princess Guantao, but after marrying Chen Mu of Tangyi(堂邑)Marquis, she was also known as Princess Tangyi. As the aunt of Emperor Wu of Han, she was honored with the title of Dowager Dou(窦太主). Her daughter, Chen, became the first empress of Emperor Wu of Han.
Liu Piao's birth year is unknown, but her younger brother, Emperor Jing of Han (Liu Qi/刘启), was born in 188 BCE. At that time, their father, Emperor Wen of Han (Liu Heng/刘恒), was only fifteen years old and still a vassal king of han dynasty, so Liu Piao's birth year is unlikely to be later than 188 BCE. In September 180 BCE, Liu Heng was ushered to Chang'an and ascended the throne as Emperor Wen. A few months later, Liu Qi was made Crown Prince, Empress Dou was made appointed, and Liu Piao was given the title of Princess Guantao. During this period, Liu Piao married Chen Mu, Marquis of Tangyi, and they had at least two sons and one daughter. Chen Mu became the third-generation Marquis of Tangyi in the third year of Emperor Wen’s reign (177 BCE), but the exact date of Liu Piao's marriage to him is no longer verifiable.
During the Reign of Emperor Jing of Han(Princess's brother) Peirod
In 157 BCE, after Emperor Jing of Han ascended the throne, Princess Guantao Liu Piao continued to frequently visit the palace. With the favor of Dowager Dou and the indulgence of Emperor Jing, she became a significant figure in the Han court. During this time, her son Chen Jiao was granted the title of Marquis of Longlü because of his mother's status.
Liu Piao was adept at political maneuvering and used her daughter, Chen Shi(陈氏), as a political pawn. Initially, she intended to marry Chen Shi to Crown Prince Liu Rong(刘荣), the son of Lady Li(Concubine). However, due to her frequent introduce of beautiful women to Emperor Jing, which caused deep conflict with Lady Li, this proposal was firmly rejected by her. Enraged, Liu Piao later sought a marriage alliance with Consort Wang, who agreed to the match. Through the combined efforts of Liu Piao and Consort Wang, Crown Prince Liu Rong was deposed and made the King of Linjiang in the seventh year of the Yuan era (150 BCE), and two years later, he was forced to death, with Lady Li also dying from grief.
Soon after, Consort Wang was made Empress, and her son, Liu Che(刘彻), was established as Crown Prince and married Chen Shi(陈氏).
During the Reign of Emperor Wu of Han(汉武帝)
In 141 BCE, after Emperor Wu of Han (Liu Che/刘彻) ascended the throne, Chen Shi was made Empress(陈氏). As the granddaughter of Dowager Dou and the daughter of Princess Guantao Liu Piao, who had contributed to the appointment of Liu Che as Crown Prince, Chen Shi enjoyed significant favor. At this time, Princess Guantao Liu Piao had been elevated by the emperor and was honored with the title Dowager Dou(窦太主).
Later, Emperor Wu favored Wei Zifu(卫子夫), a singer from the residence of his sister, Princess Pingyang(平阳公主). This situation made Empress Chen extremely jealous, especially since she was childless and unable to conceive despite seeking medical help. Meanwhile, Wei Zifu(卫子夫) became pregnant. As a result, Empress Chen resorted to witchcraft, but Emperor Wu discovered her actions, leading to her deposition in the fifth year of the Yuan Guang era (130 BCE).
By 129 BCE, after the death of Dowager Dou Liu Piao's husband, Chen Mu, she was a woman in her sixty year old, living as a widow. At this time, she became infatuated with a handsome young man named Dong Yan(董偃). Dong Yan(董偃)'s mother had been a pearl seller, and from the age of thirteen, he had frequently visited the home of Dowager Dou Liu Piao. Known for his good looks, Dong Yan was summoned by Dowager Dou Liu Piao, who took him into her household, where he was educated and trained in various skills. At eighteen, Dong Yan served as Dowager Dou's attendant and also acted as her inner chamber servant. His gentle and kind nature, combined with their illicit relationship, led many to address him as “Lord Dong/董君.”
Later, Anling Yuan Shu(安陵爰叔) advised Dong Yan to suggest to Dowager Dou that she offer the Changmen Garden as a separate palace to Emperor Wu. Emperor Wu was pleased with this gesture and renamed the garden “Changmen Palace.” Dowager Dou, delighted with this outcome, rewarded Yuan Shu generously.
Subsequently, Anling Yuan Shu suggested that Dong Yan propose to Dowager Dou that she be ill and unable to see Emperor Wu. When Emperor Wu visited to inquire about her health, Dowager Dou expressed a desire to host him. After Dowager Dou recovered, Emperor Wu was invited to a banquet. During the event, Dowager Dou removed her jewelry, knelt to apologize to Emperor Wu, and then had Dong Yan do the same. Throughout the banquet, Dowager Dou and Dong Yan showed great respect and hospitality to Emperor Wu, who was very pleased. As a result, Dong Yan became highly favored and frequently participated in palace activities.
Han dynasty scholar-official DongFang Shuo(東方朔) was quite critical of Dong Yan, disapproving of his affair with the princess, which he felt undermined moral standards and distracted the ruler from his duties. Emperor Wu gradually distanced himself from Dong Yan, who fell out of favor and died in his thirties. After losing Dong Yan, Princess Guantao Liu Piao lived for several more years before her death. Her final wish was not to be buried with her husband, Chen Mu, but rather to be interred with her lover, Dong Yan, in Balin. This request is considered the beginning of more extravagant practices among princesses and noblewomen.
In the first year of the Yuanding era (116 BCE), her two sons, Chen Xu, Marquis of Tangyi, and Chen Jiao, Marquis of Longlü, committed suicide during their mother's mourning period due to their involvement in illicit affairs(with woman)and disputes over inheritance. The title of Marquis of Tangyi was abolished. A few years later, her daughter, the deposed Empress Chen Shi, also passed away.
In Chinese history, princesses were often unfortunate victims of political marriages and diplomatic alliances. However, there are also many fortunate examples, such as Princess Guantao. Unlike many others confined by the conservative constraints of a feudal empire, she lived a life of personal freedom and pursued her desires, breaking free from traditional limitations.

Hello please I love your blog. Please can you recommend me to shows that feel period especially when it come to women. I mean period wife like the prisoner of beauty. I know you love war but please something more domestic
Thank you!!!
I will not be recommending war-centric dramas (or politics-centric, like The Advisors Alliance or Qin Dynasty) but those usually have more period appropriate depictions of women because they are not the focus/target audience; a lot of female centric dramas are targeted to a female audience and, understandably, a lot of it does not want to watch period appropriate behavior but women in battle, women triumphing and girlbossing, proclaiming feminism and monogamy. Don't get me wrong, I am team feminism and monogamy and female triumphs in RL, but it usually is out of place in a period narrative or, if it's not, looks quite different than the modern counterparts.
OK, harem dramas are your best bet, it's hard to be too modern in a harem: The Empress of China, the Story of Yanxi Palace, Zhen Huan, Legend of Ruyi, Empresses in the Palace (if you want an older drama) all center on the harem - the women in them can be terrifying and smart (Empress of China follows Wu Zetian, for example) but by definition of the genre, they do not have modern attitudes. I am not the world's biggest fan of this genre as I find it too depressing for my tastes but even I adored Yanxi, the one genuinely imo happy ending drama of them all in this list.
The Story of Minglan is both my favorite cdrama ever, and has a period appropriate heroine at the center - Minglan is smart and wants a good marriage, but she thinks of it in period appropriate terms: she wants respect and domestic power, not love (though she gets it all), and never contemplates running away and joining the army or being the sole wife (though she ends up as one) etc.
The Sword and the Brocade - it can get a little ahistorical in terms of FL thinking a divorce would be easier than it actually would be, but it's mostly really good in the arranged marriage to love set up, where it's a story of two awkward kind strangers and how they navigate marriage, including his harem or restriction on women's activities (she opens a sewing workshop for refugee women and even then almost creates a scandal!)
If you want old and don't mind early Republican era, Four Women Conflict. Also Nothing Gold Can Stay, where it's about a merchant woman but feels period appropriate (instead of too many dramas where the woman is doing so well just because hot men help her as she proclaims her independence.)
I am not the world's biggest fan of A Dream of Splendor, and it does sanitize brothel workers (no way no how would the heroine be a virgin) but a lot of the attitudes about class and marriage (or lack of marriage) are on point.
Under the Moonlight - in the running for my fave cdrama this year, this is a lowkey mystery/slice of life and FL is a former courtesan (who escaped and was freed before she was sold to her first client) and its look at women in general is very realistic (but also men, and class divisions, and superstition etc.)
The Virtuous Queen of Han - a sort of AU of Wei Zifu's life, this is half romance half harem drama, and I found it quite period appropriate. In general, older dramas are better for this, imo.
ETA: Riverside Code at Qingming Festival - it centers around a middle class middle aged couple being drawn into murder and conspiracy, and it is genuinely a lovely look at a part of society dramas usually leave alone; the wife's portrayal is great.
I am sure there is more, and I am gonna throw this open, but that's all that came to the top of my head atm.

Games paper wedding dress embody
The terror of Chinese style

Ghost marriage:The core of Chinese terror
Ghost marriage, as a peculiar form of marriage in Chinese folk culture, is an important source of inspiration for the story background of the game "Paper Wedding Dress". It originated in the Yin and Shang Dynasties, developed through the Wei, Jin, South-North Dynasties, flourished in the Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties, continued to progress in the Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing Dynasties, and still secretly prevails in some areas today. Ghost marriage, also known as ghost wedding, Yin marriage, fatal pairing in the underworld, etc., can be divided into two kinds of ghost marriage:between the dead and between the living and the dead. The game plot is mainly the second form.
Q: How to make a Chinese terror puzzle game based on Ghost marriage? Production Team A: We look in folk customs to polish detail and explain traditional culture with plot puzzles.
Folk custom and traditional culture in the games
When it comes to ghost marriage, paper zha and wedding dress are inevitable.
According to the usages, paper zha can be divided into at least three types:sacrificial funeral one, decorative appreciation one and entertainment one. Most of the paper zha appearing in the game is the first one, which is also known as funeral paper zha. This kind of paper zha are mostly paper people, paper horses, houses and modern paper cars, paper electrical appliances and so on.These paper zha not only show the mourning for the deceased, but also symbolize the "illusory things" and "inhuman things" in the game, so that players can constantly feel the blurred boundary between life and death in the process of solving the puzzle.

The design of the wedding dress in The game absorbed the advantages of modern Chinese Hanfu , the version of both the relaxed and comfortable Xiuhe clothing, but also the three-dimensional slim Longfeng coat. According to the personality of different characters, the decoration and accessories of the wedding dress also have their own characteristics, showing a gorgeous and valuable background color or a gentle and beautiful spot color. The wedding dress combines the traditional aesthetics with the gloomy atmosphere, highlighting the unique visual tension of the Chinese terror.

Of course, in addition to the two main elements, the games also intersperse many other excellent traditional Chinese culture and folk culture related content in the scene layout and puzzle solving process...

The surnames of many of the game's main characters, CP, correspond to well-known lovers in folk literature:
The heroine and heroine in the first film, Ning Zifu Nie Moqi, correspond to Ning Caichen and Nie Xiaoqian in the eighth section of Volume 3 of strange Tales from a Chinese studio;
Liang Shaoping Zhu Xiaohong, the protagonist of the second and fifth parts, corresponds to Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai.
Shen Moqing and Wang Jiao Tong in the third part correspond to Shen Chun and Wang Jiaoniang in the novel Tale of Jiao Hong written by Song Yuan in the Yuan Dynasty.
Zhang Chenrui and Cui Wanying in the fourth part correspond to Zhang Junrui and Cui Yingying in Wang Shifu's drama Romance of the Western Chamber in the Yuan Dynasty;
And Liu Fengze Du Yan in the seventh part corresponds to Liu Mengmei and Du Liniang in Tang Xianzu's play The Peony Pavilion in the Ming Dynasty.
For example, in "Paper Marriage Clothes 7 Not betray", Du says that she appears in the form of soul, which is a reference to Du Liniang's story--that her soul leaves her body. Du Liniang awakens in the spring of colorful flowers and seeks for the perfection of life, while Du says that she wants to sacrifice Liu Fengze to make up for her destination as the golden boy and the jade girl, which is a continuation of the Peony Pavilion, but the view of love runs counter to it. Perhaps there is a hidden mystery in its name, "Yanta(Talking her)" is actually "acting her", playing Du Shiniang's joys and sorrows, singing "Peony Pavilion" into "Du Shiniang's angry treasure Chest".

Paper wedding Dress 7 May the name have a different meaning?
I just have a sudden feel."Yanta,Yanta", does not mean Du Liniang but refer to another Du Shi niang. "Yanta" also refers to "acting her", but what she acts is Du Shiniang rather than Du Liniang. From "Peony Pavilion" to "Warning Bell Words", it is really fantastic!
There is "Fengze", which shares similar sound with "crazy" in Chinese characters !!!
They are really attentive to make games! (I may be over-interpreting this, but I do have such a meaning in my heart.) Just one word to describe my feeling, excellent!

A piece of "Peony Pavilion" is explained as "Du Shiniang becomes angry and Sinks All the Treasures"
Liu Fengze and Du Yanta, a golden boy with a jade girl. His Last name is Liu and first name is Fengze, which echoes Liu Mengmei; Her surname is Du, corresponding to Niang, and she was Du Li Niang. But Liu is actually not Liu.His real first name is Li.Yan is actually not Yan because she changes the character.Because of a different word, Liu Mengmei is turned into Li Jia,and Du Liniang is changed into Du Shiniang. The "Peony Pavilion" was performed as "Du Shiniang becomes angry and Sinks All the Treasures" ah, what a fate of a good golden boy and jade girl".
The extreme danger and silence of the interweaving of red and white
The spirit endured, and the bond remained strong. The two brides in red and white wedding clothes appeared on the poster of Paper Bride 7. The elements of the wedding in red and funeral in white were entangled and intertwined, with a strange sense of beauty. Well-designed elements enhance the recognition of the game, but also promote it becoming widely known, drawing more players to explore the domain of Chinese horror.

Red usually symbolizes happiness and joy in public vision, but when our perspective turns to Chinese horror games, a large area of red often distorts its universal symbolism and strengthens the eerie atmosphere. In addition to symbolizing beauty, red also reflects the most basic human understanding and survival experience of the world, because it comes from blood and fire. Human beings gained strength with the help of fire, continuing the hope of life under cruel living conditions. They cooked food, drove away the cold, sacrificed with blood, and concluded covenants. Red prolonged life in the way of destruction, but it is also easy to attract attention and alert people. When the red wedding dress appears in the gloomy and scary scene, the bright color forms a sharp contrast with the silent background, impacting the player's senses, as if heralding the coming danger or disaster. This atmosphere of anxiety and fear, noticing that a crisis is coming, not only enhances the tension of the game, but also magnifies the player's perception of the atmosphere of terror.

Apart from the eerie red tones, the game is also filled with an uncanny white. In Western culture, white is used to symbolize purity and holiness, while in traditional Chinese culture, if the red wedding dress symbolizes the beginning of marriage, then white, which often appears in funeral ceremonies, symbolizes the end of life. The white lanterns and pale paper people in Paper Bride are quiet and silent, suppressing the breath of "life", closely related to death and funeral, creating an empty and mysterious atmosphere and increasing the sense of suspense of the game. White can also contrast with common dark tones in horror games, which can not only enhance the visual effect of the game, but also better highlight the elements of terror. The interweaving of red and white and the encounter of weddings and funerals help the game put aside the common symbolic meaning of color, allowing players to break away from the cognition gained in reality and immerse themselves in the weird game world.

The mysterious eastern rune leads to the unknown key
Chinese horror games are always inseparable from the elements of Chinese traditional culture. The rune codes in Paper Bride, known as "ghostwrite", are actually some ancient characters or religious symbols. This font, Yunzhuan, was originally a Taoist character, referring to the smoke wrapped around incense burning, or a cloud shaped like the seal character. If players are willing to decipher, they can also connect the password into a correct sentence, such as the Yunzhuan password of the dressing box in the god's sedan chair in the game, which means something in rotation. Combined with ancient Chinese mythology and philosophy, as well as the game setting point of view, it may imply the law and order in the game world. Runes, as symbols that are difficult to interpret in the game, often represent unknown forces, suggesting potential challenges while stimulating players' desire to explore. Such mysterious forces can be positive or negative, symbolize "protection" or play the role of a "curse". The energy carried by the runes themselves and their shape and arrangement have cast an atmosphere of mystery over them. Coupled with the unknown spell effect set by the game background, players can feel more oppression and fear.

Cultural symbols always serve for the atmosphere and plot narration of the game. Like the empty temple pagoda, the village with smoke and ghost fire, and the squeaking wooden doors, these common elements not only symbolize decay and silence, but also build an audio-visual language environment full of terror. They can not only enhance the players' sense of tension and insecurity, but also serve as a carrier to promote the development of the plot. Through the interpretation of these cultural symbols, players can deeply understand the storyline of the game while enjoying the playability of the game. They can also feel the charm of Chinese horror more deeply.

The paper wedding dress series of games, with the theme of ghost marriage, takes players on a thrilling and suspenseful Chinese horror adventure. In the next episode, we will delve deeper into the unique aspects of Chinese horror to present you with a more comprehensive and in-depth Chinese horror world, giving you a different horror experience. See you in the next episode!

Additional Information:
In the second chapter, the correct answer of the cloud seal password of the dresser box in the palanquin is that from right to left to read the meaning of "six respect five elements rotation", friends who are interested in it can also go to know this "scribble" ! (actually it is the cloud seal)

Inspired by my recent conversation with @dangermousie about the 3 MLs in Lost You Forever (now that I've started watching). But in general, the idea of the "I can fix you" trope and the "murderous ML soft for one FL" trope.
Disclaimer: this is just what works for me, personally. Everyone has different tastes, and I place no moralities on what people chose to consume or read as media. Like I doubt every fan of the horror genre wants to be chased by an axe murderer.
Anyways, those who follow me knows that I love a devoted ML, and somehow that tends to overlap with watching dramas with plots that can be construed as "I can fix him." But thinking about the plots that worked for me and didn't work for me -- the "i can fix him" plots really have to have a corollary "murderous ML soft for one FL." If the FL is doing the "fixing," then the ML really needs to be wiling to give all it up for the FL.
(classic: in singing all along, Guangwu emperor going "i don't need my empire, I just need Ying Lihua." Although ironically signing all along has a pretty balanced OTP dynamic overall.)
In contrast -- I've been recently rewatching the virtuous queen of Han -- and frankly it's not a bad watch and they have sanitized Han Wudi A LOT and created some AU ending that somehow passed censorship. But what never got be rabid about the OTP was that at no point do you ever feel that the ML (which tbf, is Han Wudi) is willing to give up his empire for Wei Zifu. Is that historically accurate? maybe. Does it scratch the itch in my id? absolutely not.
Also, there has been dramas that really flipped the script that are tragic -- goodbye my princess and the King's woman are 2 on the top of my head. Those were interesting because you do get the sense that maybe ultimately, the MLs were willing to give it all for the FL, but the realization came way too late.
(also, sorry to any anon who asks me drama suggestions with equally devoted OTPs. My suggestions are few and far in between because it's not just where my tastes lie.)

I have a couple more drawing ideas to make for eldarya before being done with it.
I have to say, eldarya has always been a strong pillar where I've built my universe and it helped me develop a lot of my characters, especially their looks. The customization brought life to some of my dearest OCs. I also loved the characters, the funny moments, and even the moments of romance that TO gave us. I will always remember the 3 main boys being happy and fighting together, laughing together and consoling each other. I will also remember Leiftan for being this mysterious character who has a dark side and this became my type recently. Let's not forget the insufferable Miiko who had her good moments but I just love to hate her. Others like Kero, Alajea, Ykhar, and Karenn were pretty great written characters and I'm sometimes upset none of them were LIs. Honorable mentions for Karuto and Feng Zifu for being unintentionally my favorite couple.
For me and everyone, this all went down with the fire incident where it seemed that they started caring less about it in a lot of aspects. It's like they felt the game was doomed but they still had to continue with it.
But nevertheless, the thing that I love the most is the community, or what remained of it. Sometimes I would see posts and feel inspired to make new things about eldarya.
I didn't expect the game to end with a happy ending but I guess is better than anything I could've thought. Mine was just another pointless sacrifice and some fast-forward to people remembering this moment.

Love and Memory
Written by Zifu Zhao
This is a series of stories inspired by the prompt Free Stuff. The themes of the three stories include two magical realism fiction and one contemporary fiction; these stories are not a series of linked stories, but all of which focus on the themes of love, memory, and loss.
These stories reflect three common relationships in our world. The protagonists of these stories, Emma, Charlie, and Ashley, respectively elaborate on the emotions between humans and pets, the affection between people and their family members, and the love between people and their partners.
(All blog profile picture are generated by the AI: Midjourny)
Story 1: Free Magic Potion
On her way home, Emma noticed a billboard -- "Free Magic Potion – Meet the One You Long to See." The location was precise—right in the forest's center, beneath the Tree of Life, at a small general store.

Emma thought of Max, her childhood dog, and loyal companion. In her memory, Max always wagged his tail, affectionately rubbed against her knee, and smiled at her. She missed him so much. Emma turned and headed toward the forest. The woods were eerily quiet, every rustle of leaves amplified in the stillness. Fear crept in, and she almost turned back. Then, she saw it: the Tree of Life. Its roots sprawled across the ground like veins, and its golden leaves shimmered faintly. Beneath it stood the store, glowing with warm yellow light like an entrance to another world. Emma opened the door. Inside, the store was filled with peculiar items. A black cat sits on the counter, its eyes gleaming in the candlelight. It picked up a small bottle with its mouth and placed it in front of Emma.

"Does it really work?" she whispered. "If you believe," the sound of the cat scared Emma. She drank the potion nervously. Moments later, the Tree of Life began to shimmer outside. A shadow moved through its glow, transforming into the form of Max. His tail wagged, and he stared warmly at Emma. "Max?" Her voice quivered. He stepped forward, his fur gleaming faintly. Emma knelt, hugging him tightly; the world around her seems falling away. But as she pulled back, his form flickered like a dying candle.

The cat's cold voice broke the silence, "The departed cannot stay. Treasure this moment—it won't last." Emma's tears fell as she watched Max fade. The cat continued, "There is another way. Sacrifice your memories, and Max can stay—but neither of you will remember each other." Emma froze. "Forget everything? All we shared?" "That's the cost." The cat replied. Max sat quietly, his gaze with understanding. He leaned down to nuzzle her hand, but his tail stopped swagging. Emma realized that Max would no longer become the friend she cherished without their shared memories. "Without our memories, none of this would mean anything," she said softly. "Even if Max stayed, we'd be strangers. I can't force him to stay at that cost." The cat nodded slowly. "Love is not possession; it is remembrance." As Max's form dissolved into golden light, Emma reached out, gently stroking his head one last time. "I'll never forget you," she cried. The Tree of Life dimmed, and Emma left the store. In the wind, she thought she heard a bark from Max. She smiled through her tears and knew Max would always live on in her heart.
Story 2: Free stall
Lately, a strange rumor had been spreading around town. On the west side, a mysterious woman had set up a stall, selling some odd items for free. Charlie had heard it as well. Who could resist something free? He decided to check it out. He made his way alone to the west side, and sure enough, he found a bizarre stall. The stall owner is an old woman, she looked-- unusual.
(Image credit to Generative AI tool: Midjourney. The Prompt: An old woman sits behind a bizarre stall. Her long beard hung down to her breast, and she wore a patchwork coat. The odd items on the bizarre stall: some old game cartridges, a half-empty bottle of wine, a jar of mismatched buttons and so on. The sky is dark. Pixar art style.)
Why does a woman have such a long beard? Her long beard hung down to her breast, and she wore a special patchwork coat. Charlie approached cautiously, glancing at the odd items on the counter: some old game cartridges, a half-empty bottle of wine, a jar of mismatched buttons, and many strange stuff. “Looking for something?” she asked in a deep, raspy voice. Charlie hesitated. “Just curious.” “Take whatever calls to you,” she smiled, revealing impossibly white teeth. “No need to pay.” He bent down, eyeing the objects, and noticed a worn notebook hidden beneath the game cartridges. He picked it up. Its leather cover was cracked, and the pages were yellowed with age, covered in messy handwriting. “That one,” the woman said, narrowing her eyes. “It’s special.” “Why?” Charlie asked doubtfully. “It reads minds,” she answered with a hint of mystery. Charlie nervously took the notebook and hurried away, her laughter echoing behind him. That night, Charlie opened the notebook, expecting there to be some empty pages for writing a diary—but to his shock, suddenly, the words on the pages began to rearrange themselves into clear sentences: “Do you remember that fire?”
(Image credit to Generative AI tool: Midjourney. The Prompt: A beautiful small western-style house with a red roof. The perspective is from the outside, and the whole house is completely on fire. The sky is black. Pixar art style.)
His heart stopped. He remembered all too well—the night a fire destroyed his childhood home, taking everything, taking away the person who loved him the most in the world--his father. Another line appeared: “He always loved you.” Charlie’s hands shaking. How did the notebook know? Turning the page, he found a photo of him as a child, holding a game controller, sitting next to his dad. His eyes welled up.
(Image credit to Generative AI tool: Midjourney. The Prompt: A notebook with a slightly worn-out leather cover and yellowed inner pages. There is a photo inside, showing a little boy leaning against his father, playing games with a controller in his hand, and his father smiling at the little boy. At the bottom of this photo, there is a sentence that reads "Find her". Pixar art style.)
A new line appeared: “Find her.” The next morning, Charlie returned to the west side. The free stall was gone, but the mysterious woman sat cross-legged nearby, holding a nearly empty bottle of wine. “You knew him,” Charlie said, his voice trembling. “Why help me?” “I’m not helping you,” she said softly. “I’m helping him—your father. The sudden fire took everything away, and he didn't even have a chance to leave you a last word.” Charlie stood in stunned silence; he couldn't control himself and kept crying. The woman's voice firm yet compassionate. “He never stopped loving you. Just let go of the pain, and carry his love with you in the future. That's all what he wants me to tell you.” after she said, she disappeared into the mist. Charlie stared down at the notebook, feeling the weight of his father’s love. He opened it one last time. The final page read: “Some things can never burn away. like love.” Charlie smiled with tears for the first time in years after that fire, finally ready to move forward.
Story 3: Free Gift
Today, Ashley tidied up her room as usual and swept the floor. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Ashley opened the door, but there was no one outside. She lowered her head and found a box placed on the floor.
(Image credit to Generative AI tool: Midjourney. The Prompt: There is a yellow carpet on the wooden floor. There is a pink box on this carpet. The box is delicately tied with a golden ribbon bow. There is a note next to the box that reads: Free Gift for The Sweetest Woman in The Town. Pixar art style.)
"Free Gift for The Sweetest Woman in The Town," Ashley read the note next to the box; she looked very puzzled. She doubted whether she had been teased by the neighbor who liked to flirt with her. She didn't like that man, so she felt a bit embarrassed. This free box exuded a fragrance - a mixture of aged paper and rose scents. Luckily, it's not annoying, but Ashley's favorite style, so Ashley finally brought it into the house. Ashley opened it very carefully; afraid it might be some malicious prank. Inside, she found an old Polaroid camera, a photograph, and a single dried rose pressed on a letter.

(Image credit to Generative AI tool: Midjourney. The Prompt: Inside the pink box, there is an old Polaroid camera, a photo, and a single dried rose pressed on a letter. The photo‘s content is a snapshot of a spot by the river. In the photo's corner, a clock tower stood frozen at 6:00 p.m. Pixar art style.)
The photo took her breath away. It was a snapshot of her favorite spot by the river—a place she hadn't visited in many years. In the photo's center, a clock tower stood frozen at 6:00 p.m., the same time she'd often sat there with Daniel, her ex-boyfriend. Her face was full of surprise as she read the letter. "Ashley, I have tried to let go of the past, but I can never forget you. Some moments are meant to be relieved. Some, rewritten. The camera holds our sweet moments still. But only you can decide if they are worth keeping. Meet me where it all began. 6:00p.m. —D." Could D be Daniel? She hadn't spoken to him in years, hadn't dared to. Their love had been like wildfire—intense, beautiful, and all-consuming, leaving nothing but ashes when it burned out. But here it was again, a familiar voice from the past, asking for her to recall the beautiful memories of the past. The dried flower slipped from the box into her lap. A rose--it was Ashley's favorite flower. She recalled the scene where Daniel once gave her a big bouquet of roses and couldn't stop the small smile that crept across her lips.
(Image credit to Generative AI tool: Midjourney. The Prompt: The sky was almost evening in color. By the river, under a clock tower (set at 6pm), a gentleman wearing a woolen coat and a red scarf gave a beautiful bouquet of red roses to a lady wearing a pink dress. Blurred background, Pixar art style.)
That evening, Ashley stood at the riverbank as the clock struck 6:00p.m. She held a Polaroid camera in one hand and dried roses in the other. The air is filled with the scent of summer and the faint murmur of flowing water. Not far away, a gentleman in a suit and leather shoes stood under the clock tower. He looked different - older, softer somehow, -- but his eyes held the same warmth she remembered. "I didn't know if you'd come," Ashley said hesitantly. Daniel reached into his pocket and took out a rose. "I think you might like a fresh one this time." She couldn't help but laugh, a sound that felt like the first drop of rain after a drought. "You always did know how to make me happy." They sat by the river, chatting until the sky darkened and the stars twinkled vividly. Ashley took a photo of this moment, and Polaroid's click not only captured a photo but also a feeling - a feeling of a second chance, a love that was repaired like the fragile petals of a dried rose in the free box.
