why would someone think in-system relationships cant replace outer ones... unless they believed that in-system relationships are inherently lesser than "real" out-system relationships 🤔 it just sounds like pluralphobia /nay
eh, i don't know why someone would think that. it doesn't seem like a common opinion amongst plurals, thankfully. (or at least it's not an opinion that's discussed on a wider scale.)
all i could speculate is that maybe they think that it'll be too isolating or not fulfilling enough for someone to replace outer relationships with inner ones. maybe they even have the idea that inner relationships are unhealthy.
...all of which are relative to the system and its individual members. simply, just because one finds that something isn't for them, doesn't mean that something isn't for everyone else.
or, perhaps:
the belief that inner relationships can't replace outer ones can possibly be chalked up to pluralphobia, as you'd said. but i feel like it may be a bit more complicated than that? i just don't have a lot to go off on since this particular aspect of having in-sys relationships isn't really talked about that much.

I can't sleep so now you get to suffer with me by reading my sleepy 3am superbat ramblings. Aka some fluff with no plot, some plot with no plot, and identity being a blurry concept. No proofreading cause it's sounds 3 40am when I'm posting this lol
~♡~
Superman brought Bruce closer. It was a testament to their bond, the trust built between them, that the man didn't fight against it in the slightest. The instinctual tenseness in the Bat's shoulders faded quickly.
Clark's hand on his hip, his breath on his neck, Clark's lips inhumanly soft as they breezed against Bruce's neck. How they thought they could ever remain just friends was beyond the world's greatest detective.
"Kal" he wasn't Brucie, he wasn't Batman. He got to just be Bruce now.
"Yeah B?" He wasn't Clark or Superman either, Bruce supposed. Kal spoke to him in the way that was soft like Clark, like rolling fields of corn or whatever they grew in Kansas. Kal spoke to him in a way that was self assured like Superman, like he knew you were listening when you tried to pretend you weren't.
"Let's go home." It had been a long mission. And the soft romantic shower under the warm water was nice, but lying in bed, knowing Dick was safe, Alfred was safe, Kal was safe. That's what he craved. And Bruce always got what he wanted. Fucking rich kids, right?
"Yeah" his smile was soft and strong and alien, but it was Kal. He'd lower his guard for a very short list of people, but he knew that Kal would be there to catch the ball if he dropped it.
-
Clark Kent was not a bumbling idiot. He put alot work into being one, the untied shoe (just the left one, cause he favored his right), the crumpled suits (Ma would kill him if she saw the state of his work attire), the glasses that sat just off kilter no matter how much he straightened them (that one wasn't on purpose, it was a manufacturer error but it helped). But he was not bumbling idiot.
But, having fake being one (and being an investigative journalist), he could spot fake pretty well. Some were more obvious. Others not so much.
Bruce Wayne had been driving him crazy since he interviewed him on Cat's behalf about an art program he funded last month. Anywhere he looked he saw, Bruce Wayne locks himself in a bathroom AGAIN, Bruce Wayne burns water, Bruce Wayne is so stupid he might win the next Darwin Award. There was so much evidence towards it, obvious bold evidence, it was either fake or Bruce Wayne needed medical help. Locking himself in a bathroom, 3 times? The man has a child!
So Clark had been debating it in his mind. He seemed normal enough in the interview that maybe it was just standard tabloid hyperbolization. So he decided to ask the one person he trusts most- in general and about Gotham- their opinion.
"So what so you think about Bruce Wayne?" He tries to bring it up causally to Batman.
"Not much. Why." Blunt and to the point, what else could be expected of his partner?
"Oh you know, just curious. I read some interesting things in the Daily Planet is all."
"Hn." Batman was not biting his bullshit.
"Doesn't he just seem kinda weird to you though? I mean he runs a company, he has a kid, and yet everything i read says he's the biggest himbo on earth. Strange, isn't it?"
"I've met him. He has his moments, the papers exaggerate." Batman replied calmly.
"Huh" Well if B, who would probably kill Clark in a heartbeat if it was too save a child, wasn't worried about the competence of Gotham's most eligible father/billionaire... it was probably fine, right? "Ok, yeah, that makes sense."
It wouldn't stop Clark from still thinking about the man for weeks, like he was a pleasant looking plague on his thoughts. There was something familiar in his act that Clark just couldn't shake.
Batman made note to reevaluate his public character before his next interview with the planet. Clark Kent was discerning, but Lois Lane would cut into your soul.

hi! i love your work! i live for your forget me not stuff. i was wondering if you could write relationship hcs for diggers? if it's not too much trouble.
Tumblr media
;R1999 DIGGERS - Relationship Headcanons
Tumblr media
Compilation of headcanons about Diggers in a romantic relationship.
Tumblr media
cracks knuckles. I'm a bit rusty so bear with me while I get the braincell juice going. as a disclaimer, we dont have the transcript of his anecdote and 1.1 was sooo long ago so my memory is blurry and I'm mostly going by his info as a playable character
Tumblr media
Whereas some characters may struggle exploring their identity, let alone deviate from a conventional and traditional relationship, Diggers is absolutely not one of them.
Because of the countercultures he's related to and his overall character, he strikes me as the type of person who has a close relationship with the concept of love--in all of its forms, regardless of any labels. His artistic eye allows him to find beauty anywhere he looks, no matter how hidden it may be, and thus has an easier time bonding with people even if those interactions may be one-sided. With his open mind, I think he would also have a lot of experience with relationships and dating overall, contrary to popular belief; polycules, unlabeled relationships, open relationships, QPRs, you name it.
If his enthusiasm when advocating for a better world that focuses on the arts and connecting with each other is anything to go by, then one can also expect Diggers to give his all when it comes to much more personal matters, such as his potential partners. I wouldn't say he's actively looking for a relationship, more so that these just tend to naturally happen and he simply goes with the flow.
Of course, there's another layer of Diggers that is often overlooked in favour of his role as comedic relief within 1.1 Theft of the Rimet Cup--he is very insistent and enthusiastic with his beliefs of utopia, but he isn't oblivious to reality by any means. When inspecting his character, it becomes clear that this passion is an active choice he makes despite the futility of his actions, or rather, the lack of support his ideas receive and the lack of impact he makes on the world. I feel like this perseverance works as a double-edged sword, being a strength of his as well as a weakness.
On one hand, Diggers would be a great partner who gives his all and beyond to make things work, able to adapt to those around him and notice the little details. On the other hand this can result in him becoming blindsided, stubbornly delusional in his pursuit of a happy ending for everyone. It's certainly a tricky balance, a quirk that certainly doesn't appeal to everyone.
On the subject of Diggers and long-time committment.
As stated before, it's easy for Diggers to be attracted to the beauty within people around him. This, along with his open mind, experience and his passion as an artist might lead people to think he's the type to rush head first into a relationship, and dream about staying with his partner forever, but I like to think it's just the opposite!
With how much thought he gives to community and connection, Diggers understands that love takes time and active effort, a solid foundation with mutual understanding from all parties involved. He's always down to meet new people and see what happens, and even has a romantic streak--meet cutes, soulmates, the idea of fate bringing people together, or even defying fate itself to be together, you name it--but he never expects nor demands a relationship, let alone one that should last forever.
Part of me likes to attribute this to Diggers being so used to losing, the subtle sense of loneliness that seems to follow him as a character who can never earn the spotlight, let alone be remembered. So when he does get noticed, when he does find someone who is willing to commit to a relationship with him, or who brings out the best in him, he's aware of the efforts, the risks and the fact that things are meant to change; he'd rather let go, ending things amicably and part ways than hinder his or his partner's growth.
I feel it works for his character, to have this oddly mature and solid grasp on life and its twists, especially when it comes to people. He's definitely someone who priotizes the journey rather the destination!
If you want to fly, then go and fly! Who is he to keep you trapped in the same spot? Who says you two can't meet again in the future and pick up the relationship where you left it off?
This isn't to say that he can go through a break-up unscathed; Diggers will cry, either on the spot or in the privacy of his van, he's so full of emotion it's impossible for him to not whimper. It's always a memorable sight whenever Diggers starts crying and wailing while encouraging you to live your life and thanking you for the good memories.
On the subject of Diggers and how he acts in a relationship.
I feel like not a lot would change, since his relationships are born from friendship and honest commitment--he's already close friends with whoever he's dating!
Things that come to mind are perhaps the fact that Diggers trusts you wholeheartedly, and thus you're privy to all of his stunts and plans to vandalize the town as a way to protest and spread his message of utopia. You're his partner in crime, literally, the one he seeks out to make sure his plans are sound and doable. And he might whine and pout and argue his case whenever you point out how ridiculous his ideas might be, but most of the time, he listens to your advice. Most of the time. Diggers is still reckless daredevil, but you can bet that you will be the first person he goes to should he get injured or caught.
You will also hear a lot of his more melacholic and contemplative thoughts; it's no secret that Diggers feels very strongly about peace and the consequences of war, thinking about the philosophy of a simpler life and what not. But at times, the world does get to him, and he'd enjoy hearing your thoughts on the matter, regardless of your stance and own opinions, as a way to ground himself.
If you opt to comfort him, then get ready for his more clingy and needy side. This is when he will show absolutely ZERO shame, asking you to hold him for hours on end while he cries or complains about the state of the world and how unappreciated he feels.
I like to think that this doesn't happen on reverse, though; Diggers is proactive when it comes to the affairs of others, especially those he cares about, so he might come across as insensitive or a bit dense when you go to him for comfort and his first instinct is to take you outside to revolutionize the world and find solutions to whatever is bothering you.
But it's as easy as being clear and vocal about what you want! Just like him!
If it's difficult for you, he would encourage you to write instead, or find any other way to communicate your thoughts, no matter what they are. I feel like Diggers is the type of boyfriend who can never make his partner feel unseen or unheard, it might be overwhelming at times with his impulsiveness (especially if the Muse calls for it), but he definitely doesn't want you to end up like him, struggling for attention.
Round of cute things I can't fit in a cohesive bullet point.
Speaking of arts and the muses, you will inevitably end up becoming the subject of his many, many works of art. And you will get an endless stream of sculptures, paintings, poems and other gifts in whatever art medium from him. And you better smile and nod, because the second Diggers notices the slightest bit of hesitation, he will assume he's fucked up somewhere along the way and he needs to create something bigger and better, something more meaningful for you.
Considering how spontaneous Diggers is, I think he would be the type to take you on a roadtrip unprompted, just you and him against the world to sightsee and free yourselves from the big city. Be warned: a lot of things WILL go wrong.
Oh, he would love to have you play with his hair and teach you how to braid flowers into it, he thinks it's super relaxing and will mope around if it gets ruined by the wind or the rain. You can probably tell Diggers is around just by the flower petals he keeps shedding around the house.
His favorite thing to do on a date is to lay by the grass on a summer day and look at the clouds together, simple and easy. Hell, even if it rains, he will insist that you to soak together for a while and enjoy a little splash--Diggers will get sick, and he will be insufferable when he does, but if he got you to laugh and forget about the horrors of capitalism for a moment, then it was worth it.
I really love the headcanon that Diggers has a very low pain tolerance threshold, so getting his current tattoos were a huge pain and he won't get any others, not even something meaningful related to you. BUT! He can have something better, he can have you doodle on his arm with a marker or a pen--that way it's much more intimate, because it's a direct gift from you that can always change. It brightens his day whenever he catches a glimpse of these doodles, even if all you do is write silly things for him.

i'll start talking about my art ehe
Unfortunately I cannot remember much of my thought process while drawing this and past me did not leave any notes whatsoever. For drawings like this, I tend to draw not with clear thoughts but with vague feelings.
I drew it with a bittersweet feeling in mind and I wanted to invoke both a feeling of familiarity and unfamiliarity. I had in mind the image of seeing a loved one at the beach, greeting you. But there is something blocking his face, maybe he is a stranger, his identity is not sure.
I liked the concept of two feelings put together, so in addition to that I added a concept of calm and unease. The sky is clear, the moon is shining, it makes me think of good weather. But the waves are tall, maybe there is a storm somewhere, a disturbance.
I did not specify whether it was Mikoto or John, but I definitely had both in mind. This was drawn after the t2 report with the news of Mikoto "losing something precious". So the idea of John disappearing to somewhere as Mikoto watches him with conflicting feeling was there.
But I also had the thought of Mikoto leaving his life behind (the shore) to the uncertain ocean, "lost" somewhere out there only being guided by himself (the moon and stars were meant to represent 09, so their light beaming down is guidance). Mikoto might not be "Mikoto" anymore as he was known, there's grief over that. But it feels so liberating to finally have his life on his own hands. Maybe he's just looking back just to say one final goodbye to us.
The title "Far shore" was very much inspired by the concept of "other shore" in Buddhism
Tumblr media
Thank you so much nichirenlibrary. Why was that the title? I don't remember.
Also I did not meant to render Mikoto this clean and crisp, he was supposed to be more messier and blurry.
Tumblr media
But I got too caught up on rendering it...Restraint is another skill I should learn ;_;

So, i have been thinking about this idea that @schnuffel-danny came up with a while ago about Vlad that when he happens to go through a ¨PTSD moment¨ he regresses to his old ghost form from around the time that he first transformed into a ghost after the ghost portal accident.
This is inspired by that concept and some from the phic ¨Shattered Identity¨, that what if when Vlad reverses to this old form he also ¨forgets¨ a good chunk of memories from the last 20+ years? In result when Vlad is in this form acts like he would before he went full villain and he doesn't remember things like meeting Danny nor Danielle.
So while he is in this form...let's call it ¨Hollow¨, for the sake of it, Vlad is angsty and full of anxiety but he is rather chill too. He is nice to Danny and Danielle because he feels lonely and he enjoys their company. He acts like an older brother to them since he believes that he is 20 years old and so. The relationship he has with them as ¨Hollow¨ is different from the one he has when he is as ¨Plasmius¨.
Vlad is also able to remember some of the stuff that happens when he goes back to being Plasmius. These memories are more often than not rather blurry and fuzzy though.

What is “normal”?
As a alterhuman in an active community, talking about the various ways identity works in interesting ways, seeing the world in so many layers, having such a understanding that realities are vast and there’s always more than meets the eye. That’s my normal.
Me with my friends, many alterhuman themselves, and simultaneously queer or neurodivergent. That’s normal to me.
I see mysticism, spirituality, these abstract concept as real and true. That’s my norm even amongst the non-alterhuman part of my relation.
It make things blurry. What is not considered alterhuman then? This is my norm. What is this the orthohuman of this earth, this society’s norm?
Past lives aren’t a alterhuman concept, yet it’s not the average thing this world’s society all talks about. I'd seen it once where some alterhuman folks talks as if it's a alterhuman concept, or originate from within the community. I know there are other concept that got mistaken as of or from within alterhuman community.
How changed are our world view. What is "normal"?
Tumblr media
In a more literal sense, let's talk about theme. In story theme where human were changed into another species, often consider monstrous (hmm, intriguing, didn't I talk about that word couple days ago?), they call it a curse, and want to go back as soon as possible. For those of us who identify as nonhuman? That's considered a blessing. Often, we went "but why wouldn't you want that?"
I had just finished Ready Player One today, and there's one scene where they talk about how it is not real, not the real name, not the real self. I told my partner, I said it's interesting, because in my perspective, and I believe in other alterhuman's, we'd be our real selves, with our real names. I think now, that in a case of a sandbox be whatever you want, do whatever you do, create whatever world you can think of sort of virtual reality, we'd be enjoying our hearthomes, visiting our canonmates, chatting with our systemmate face to face, and just, be ourselves freely.
The online, virtual world gets a little blurry for us, I think. Because we are our best, or our truest, or our freest selves when amongst others who also share this experience of alterhumanity.
Tumblr media
On a teensy bit more personal stuff that sort of spawned the first half of this.
When I was looking up lore about Aurelion Sol for last day's writing, I saw that he has the title, The Star Forger. It's got that similar vibe to my own self-given title, The Dream Weaver, and I like that. So it got me thinking, "how can I mesh them together, now that both is true?"
I tried looking up synonymous words and common shared concept that combine or contains elements of both. Forger and weaver are both creator, which is easy enough. There is also crafter, but I'm not usually that sort of artist. Between dream and star, there's wonder, mystery, imagination. Ethereal is a dear word to me as a dream dragon that is like a spiritual creature. Astral got too much going on within the alterhuman community already. Same with celestial. They are all good words that I shall set aside to ponder about. But a word that's really resonate with me, as a artist, as a alterhuman with various identitype that has symbolism and general ties to concept related to this, and finally, as the common theme between dream and star--aspiration.
It works for me as the Bond Thread Weaver too.
The Aspiration Creator?
Or, go back to my "root" and identity
Artist of Aspiration
Aspiration Artist
Would I call them archetrope? Or just replacing Bond Thread Weaver?
Or, tying back to the beginning of today's writing, does it have to be alterhuman at all?

Distinct parts vs non-distinct parts
I wanted to go over having non distinct parts (a key feature of OSDD-1a) vs having differentiated/distinct parts (key feature of DID and OSDD-1b). The line between these terms is blurry and will even vary by clinician, but I hope this breaks down the concepts to some extent.
If anyone has their own experiences with non-distinct parts vs more well formed ones feel free to share as well!
Distinct parts:
This is probably what you think of when you here the term "alter." These are parts who do not identify as any other part. They may identify with the body or as a collective identity, but have an autonomous sense of self and perception of events. They may or may not share similarities between them. Some fragments may also fall under this definition.
Ex: Alter A and Alter B are distinct parts. Whatever actions Alter A does, Alter B did not feel like they personally did. They may have different or similar interests of beliefs
Non-distinct parts:.
These are parts that all identify under the same identity. They will share most of their traits with each other (ex - all identify with same name, appearance, etc) though there might be some differences (one might be older or wear their hair differently). They may even share conflicting beliefs. Ultimately though, two non-distinct parts will share an identity/be the "same person."
Ex: Alter A and Alter B are non-distinct parts. Whatever actions Alter A does, Alter B may feel a sense of ownership over. It may be described like a "possession" in the sense of not being able to recognize themselves of having personally done it while not being able to attribute it directly to "someone else." Even if there's a distinction between which part did what, there's not really a full separate identity to separate them under.
Depending on the parts and dissociation level the sense of action autonomy can range from fully present but with emotional disconnect to two parts feeling like the other part's actions where their own.
While this is a key feature in defining OSDD-1a systems, systems of any type may have non-distinct parts
Where do you draw the line?
Again, there is no set metric. I've seen some people use the BASK model (behavior, affect, sensory, knowledge) as a guide, but it can equally come down to for lack of better term your sense of self. In the same way someone with a CDD may be able to distinguish a part who is definitely not them, a similar gut feeling may be present for parts are definitely some level of separate, but still 'feel' like the same person. It's not very exact, which may not be the most helpful, but I personally wouldn't worry too much on whether or not you're giving a part the right label, as long as you're not forcing it onto them

you say that you switched to more private means of organizing info instead of a wiki, and feel free to ignore this ask or not answer if you would rather not give details as i am asking about something private, but if you want to share some details about how you organize information about your system i would like to know but i would also totally understand if you didn't want to share certain things, i'm just saying that i'm curious but i also don't want to intrude so it's really up to you
Our system documentation is honestly a mess at this point. Used to be more organized, now it isn't. But we use a combination of PluralKit, a private Discord server, Notion, Obsidian, and Lighthouse
A private Discord server has our commonplace book, notes to other fronters, information about our headspace, information about system history, and notes about headmates. We've had it for years so there's a wealth of information in there. It acts as a spot for us to talk to other fronters or alters too when speaking inside our head isn't working, and helps us remember stuff like appointments and birthdays
Our PluralKit profiles, at least in my system (we're a polyplex), have some basic information and are public. Name, group, role, some identity labels, a sample of typing. They're designed to be quick things we can use to ground ourselves when we come into front and need a refresher on what we're like, pull us out of blurriness
My system doesn't use Notion as much anymore, but one of our sidesystems does. In both cases, we've got spreadsheets of member names, and each name takes you to a page with a template, which is similar to the PK profiles but more in-depth. Also includes stuff like personal history, personality, relationships with other members, why someone split, etc.
Obsidian's pretty much the same as Notion but without the template. Meant to just be whatever comes to mind, let the individual member write what they want. We don't use it as much as we mean to
And Lighthouse we mostly use for individual journals. Some of us put passwords on our journals (which are stored in KeepPassXC, and it's an honour system to not look at other member's passwords because we can't really prevent it 100%), some don't. It's also got basic information for getting unblurry. Has more stuff like fronting indicators and front triggers
Overall it's kind of a fucking mess hahaha. We're really behind on sysdoc and I think we've mostly accepted that at this point. We'd really love to really create cohesive documentation on our polyplex but we have too many projects that we're already behind on so it doesn't really happen. At this point, it's mostly a matter of uh, if you front, then write down stuff about you that you think is important. Sometimes non-fronters will request fronters to write down info on them, sometimes fronters will reach out to non-fronters asking about info to get it written down
You know the concept of a worldbuilding bible? We'd love to have something like that for our system, or an ethnography of places in our system. Big projects, though, so they'll just stay dreams

a long, confusing, existential introduction
i have noticed there's a proportion of us humans who seem to have a tendency to look for the essence of things
an obsession, some would say
(some would be right)
minimalism, others will state
(other will be wrong)
(there's nothing small about this search)
i am a number of this proportion, you see
everything i do, i try to undress it to the bones
find the skeleton
trace the carcass
what's the closest i can get to one truth before it burns my skin alive?
that's where i like it
that's where i live
a nomad in the borderland of skulls
there's some holy serenity in being able to go the distance
that distance
i went that distance yesterday
i have trouble putting into words what i do
and what i do is who i am
Tumblr media
so i spend an unhealthy (what is healthy anyways?) amount of time in this so-called minimalist search for the most precise arrangement of letters to make other people understand what my ego claims as hers
i am a writer
that is without a doubt
the first thing i have ever been
the last thing i will ever be
let's set aside the clearness and focus on the blurry lines
i am a singer
(i make songs)
am i a singer?
i am a cinematographer
(i am an audiovisual communication graduate)
am i a cinematographer?
do i deserve to claim myself as part of these guilds, these collectives, these ideas, these concepts, these communities, these archetypes, these
words
do i deserve to be called by any of these perfect words?
when you are called by your name
even if you know you are not your name
(you are not some letters nor their sound
you are flesh and blood and bones and maybe, if we are all lucky, a soul
however
when this name is called upon)
you answer
as if you were synonyms
as if meaning and symbol became lost within each other until becoming one and the same
Tumblr media
so when someone says
"writer"
and i turn my head
when i jump at the sound
when my brain has already done the job — and i cannot escape my fate — the fate my brain has woven for myself — when someone calls for a writer and i raise my hand
do meaning and symbol get mixed up just the same?
this is where it got heavy for me
do i deserve to claim the same name as every single person who came before me, and whom i admire, and whom i respect, and whom i couldn't dare to offend (them nor the rest of the world) by suggesting we may belong to a somewhat similar category?
but then again
names
words
why should anyone be worthy of a title? surnames are given. they come to us by birth. like it or not, they're part of our identity — they give information on who we are — be it by acceptance or denial — be it by proximity or self-made walls — opposite or mirror — we don't need to deserve our surnames. they are us and we are them.
am i a singer?
yes
am i a cinematographer?
yes
i first was a songwriter — a writer of songs. then i discovered i could sing them. badly. but they were sung. less badly. and they kept on being sung. less less badly. and then i discovered i could put my own music into them. i once met kim yerim on the streets of madrid. i handed her a piece of paper with the lyrics of my song written on them. and she spoke these words: "so you are a producer? you are a composer?". and it was a conversation, and she was looking at me in the eyes, and so i answered. i said: "yes". and it was as simple as that. because it is true. i produce songs. i compose songs.
i am a producer.
sunghyuk said i already am a producer.
and it is as simple as that.
so i write songs. and i sing them. and i produce them. and that's all too long to fit a social media bio, isn't it?
so what am i?
a music maker
i am a music maker
i first was a scriptwriter — a writer of scripts. then i discovered writing scripts was too boring for me. there is only so much you can control about a story with a script. movies have so much more to them. movies move. so i started editing videos. turns out i have an eye for that. rhythm. that's all it is, really. i have an inner metronome. i can sense patterns. i can repeat them. i am a little clock pedaling backwards and onwards and to whichever direction has the beat that pulses the brightest. but you can't edit a blank screen — you need images. and there is only so much you can control about a story when images aren't yours. so i got myself a camera. a little green sony point and shoot, y2k excellency, all digital grain and untreated saturation and pixelated zoom. then another camera. a little red sony handycam that, as i write this, is on the cabinet under the tv of this apartment in the middle of another continent that i moved to three months ago
(i got this camera when i was 14)
(i think it might be my favorite camera)
then another one
then another one
then you know how it goes
i became a videographer
but these cameras could take pictures too, right?
pictures are so beautiful
i became a photographer
this kind of motion got be so obsessed i could not picture myself doing anything in this life that didn't rely on its cadence
so i got into college and i majored in film
(it's not film)
(you can't major in film in spain)
(not in university)
(so i got into audiovisual communication)
(you can major in audiovisual communication in spain)
(in university)
(i specialized in film)
(i wrote a film script as my final degree thesis)
(i ended up working as a scriptwriter)
(i am, as of today, a scripwriter)
(i miss my red sony handicam)
(i miss the colors)
i miss the motion
i direct my own music videos
i keep a record of my own life
i can't escape live photographs nor still movement
there's so many information in there
how can you shorten that up for a social media bio?
a filmmaker?
but does that sum up everything?
i don't think so
so what am i?
an image maker
i am an image maker
let's get back to words
because i am a writer
that's the only one i savor between my teeth
every letter is mine to say, mine to keep, mine to pray, mine for me
a writer
but what does a writer do?
letters are the smallest piece of a writer's craft
but we are not letter makers
same happens with words
we work with them
we don't create them
(not all the time)
(not as a summary of our duty and routine)
(words are not the word)
it's sentences
i guess that's it
that's just how minimalist it can get
so what am i?
a sentence maker
i am a sentence maker
i am a music, image and sentence maker
but what is music?
what are images?
what are sentences?
art
i am an artist
yes,
but
but
(always a but)
aren't they all languages?
i am a translator
aren't they all symbols?
i am a speaker of metaphors
aren't they all unexplainable ?
i am a magician
aren't they all but a beautiful attempt to capture, to portray, to preserve, to understand, to celebrate, to blame, to share
life
itself?
i am a life curator
(it's funny
i have a song about this
i scrambled some of its lyrics around
i love clues and riddles and the silly breadcrumbs some humans leave for others to find in hopes of making their everyday a little more adventurous
i hope someone someday finds this funny
i hope someone someday
thinks of this
as an adventure)
this is me
sélpide
life curator, writer and magician
welcome to the museum
i hope you find yourself inside here

Mickey Mouse Family Crisis... and I need help.
Mickey mouse, golden child to Disney and recognizable character to most know and love. and when I was still in junior high or high school, I have become eggier to learn more about this character, who he is aside from being just a recognizable mascot to a major company.
and as if recent, I have revisited the Family tree to challenge myself in drawing all the members in the family (Minnie's family included.). though as I revisited, I realized that both trees are just as uncertain to some members present within the tree, even if they had sources from other Media and comic books regarding the family member's role. though, with different writers from different years, it resulted in chaotic, inconstant visual of the concept. I don't blame the people that made the tree's, nor do I blame the people hired to make/made stories for Disney revolving their beloved mouse. but I do feel that Disney has the opportunity to round out Mickie's lore and character more like they did for Donald duck.
so... I need help identifying some of the characters that appear in the trees.
to make this simpler and easy to follow, I'll start with the one I relied on the most: Adrien Miqueu's Family tree.
Tumblr media
I was able to do research and find out most of the characters listed on the tree. however, some lack pictures, proving their existence isn't just a fan addition. and the ones that have a name and picture are too obscured to be found in a simple name search, to insure they're actually part of the family and not some random addition because they have the last name "Mouse".
characters in specific:
Tumblr media
Irma Mouse(aunt to Minnie): I tried looking up on her name alone but received noting in searches. and I have used multiple other sources, such as Disney Wiki, Mickey's Wiki(his relatives), Family Mouse Category Wiki, Àrbol Genealogico De Mickey Mouse part 1 and part 2 (which was mostly referencing the other tree below) and TV Topes: Mickey Mouse's Family. none never mentioning Irma in the slightest. makes me wonder where he got this character in specific. and the possibility of her being an Only mentioned is highly possible, I just need confirmation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The same situation falls on Ben(uncle to Minnie) and Annie Mouse(Aunt to Mickey). any confirmation on the character's existence is immensely appreciated.
Tumblr media
is Mikiki Mouse actually a character? can't help but think that he's Mickey in his classic steamboat willie attire....
Tumblr media
alleged great uncle and aunt to Mickey, these two catch my interest the most when it came to their identity. so, as like all the other members, I tried to google their names. nothing. that's okay, I have the other sources I used for cross referencing. still nothing.....
the reason to clarify whether or not they are actually part of the mouse family wasn't my full intention but as to see whether or not Captain O'Mouse was a separate character and not Kid Mouse with a different appearance. or that O'Mouse and Lily is Mickey and Minnie telling a story, like they did for Mickagnan.
once again, I'll be immensely grateful if any of the characters in this family tree is identified.
As we go on to the next family tree, I would have to inform that the image from google itself is incredibly blurry.
Credit goes to Gilles R. Maurice.
Tumblr media
thankfully, I've managed to find the website he posted the family tree and screenshotted for a better read on their names!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
characters aside for a moment, its fascinating to see members missing or added based on the information both the creators had at the time. this one in particular obtaining the most obscured characters XD. both actually forgot two other nieces of Minnie's entirely, Lily and Tiny (granted they haven't been published in the US comics yet...) but I digress.
Characters in specific:
Tumblr media
Angus is an interesting case because he appears in both trees stated to be an Uncle to Minnie. however I'm not sure if he's married or born (adopted?) into the Family. this one doesn't necessarily need confirmation if it can't be provided but it would help figure out his position in the Family.
Tumblr media
Topaze Mouse is considered an uncle(aunt?) to Minnie. again, I looked everywhere for his identity but nothing.
Tumblr media
Manfred and Unnamed child are alleged nephew and niece, both characters being siblings. I need help knowing whether or not they are actual characters and not added members because they have the last name "Mouse" or look like one. there is a chance that the child is Melody, granted that that twin niece has a history of being singled out by Millie into a single child. being renamed Molly or added in a trio named Molly, Polly and Dolly. R.I.P Millie.
Tumblr media
she's my favorite mystery "ancestor". the great-great aunt to Minnie. I worry that perhaps her character is similar to Mickagnan, and this is just Minnie in a different identity to tell a story. I can't recall if I found this character at some point in the past, if I'm just confusing it for a different member or if my brain came up with the wish of her being a lost relative to Minnie. Based on her looks alone, she kinda reminds me of Amy Johnson.....
and last but not least,
Tumblr media
this mystery child.....
um... who is this? it's described in the tree that she is lover to Morty mouse, Mickey's Nephew, so I don't think she's necessarily a mouse... but my sister has pointed out she looks more like a dog. she lacks a name so a simple name search couldn't be executed for her case, but I don't know much of the comics either to really try and find a similar style.. and it looks quite old too. and i have to be sure this is actually a legit relationship and not shipping.
any who... these are the characters that made me walk in circles for minutes on end finding no results of any kind, not so much as a smidge of hint or mention. if anyone has any idea of the characters, you are free to do a reblog to confirm their relation to the mouse family, add any potential missing members or additional facts about them if you wish. and again, I'm aware that because an image isn't provided, doesn't mean they aren't mentioned... and randomly added hopefully...
I wish you all a pleasant day, night, week and year, and thank you!
before you leave.... wanna see something crazy?
Tumblr media

Information for @cravingtakoyaki for the last scene of The First of The Thirteen, regarding the cameo.
Extra Information:
The Prophesier is a mysterious figure who emerges in the final moments of the series, donning the black robes and blank mask of the Cultus Cranni. This character becomes crucial in extending the legacy of the Skull Sorcerers and continuing the cycle of darkness that Hazza D’ur set in motion. They are not all too present in the series because of the timeframe, but this can be considered a sequel. Here is a detailed character concept for this enigmatic figure:
Character Profile: The Prophesier
Real Name: Unknown (deliberately shrouded in mystery to add to their ominous presence)
- Title: The Prophesier
- Affiliation: Cultus Cranni (both the reformed version of Hazza D’ur’s original cult, and possibly the first version)
- Age: Appears to be in their late 20s to early 30s, though their true age is unknown due to the possible use of dark magic
- Gender: Ambiguous (often referred to as "they" to maintain the air of mystery — not known if it’s necessarily for terms of gender identity)
- Appearance:
- Robes: Wears the traditional black robes of the Cultus Cranni, but with an added layer of intricate symbols stitched in dark green thread, representing runes of ancient magic.
- Mask: The mask is a stark, blank face with no features, only two dark slits for eyes that seem to glow faintly in certain light, giving the impression of ever-watching eyes.
- Hands: Often wrapped in tattered cloth bandages, revealing hints of necrotic energy seeping from their skin, implying they have already begun dabbling in forbidden magic.
- Eyes: Though mostly concealed, their eyes, when glimpsed, appear almost hollow—deep-set with a subtle glow.
Personality Traits
- Visionary: The Prophesier is obsessed with the concept of prophecy and fate. They believe that everything is predestined, and they interpret the fall of previous Skull Sorcerers as a necessary step toward an ultimate destiny.
- Calculated and Patient: Unlike the power-hungry nature of Hazza D’ur or the desperation of King Vangelis (who lives his life much later) The Prophesier is methodical, always thinking several steps ahead. They are willing to wait centuries if necessary for their plans to unfold.
- Charismatic: They possess a quiet yet persuasive charisma that draws people in, making them believe in their vision. Their calm, almost hypnotic voice has a way of turning doubts into certainty.
Motivations
- Rebirth of Hazza D’ur: They are devoted to the idea that Hazza D’ur's spirit has not been truly destroyed but merely dormant. The Prophesier seeks to gather enough dark magic and sacrifice to bring him back, as well as digging up his body, believing Hazza D’ur's return will herald a new era of power. The Prophesier fails in resurrecting his entire body, but manages to bring back his spirit in his skull. He had nearly done that himself, so the workload was much easier for them. This happens over the course of 4 years, as The Prophesier travels across the lands, learning more about the art of necromancy to revive his spirit.
- The Fall of The Thirteen: The Prophesier believes that the line of the Skull Sorcerers was meant to end with the thirteenth. Their ultimate goal is to prolong the cycle and ensure that the number thirteen reaches its final, most powerful manifestation before the Skull Sorcerers rise no more. It’s a final act to create a legendary legacy.
- Master of Fate: They know everything in blurry details. They know they cannot stop what will happen, but they want to make it as legendary as possible. They take on a pupil ten years after Hazza D’ur begins to teach them his magic. They pass on information to their pupil; everything they know. Hazza D’ur favors the pupil over The Prophesier.
Background
The true origins of The Prophesier are unknown. Legends suggest they were most likely a former member of Cultus Cranni. Some say they were drawn to Hazza D’ur's teachings after having a vision that revealed the hidden truths of life, death, and fate.
Abilities and Skills
- Dark Magic Manipulation: The Prophesier has a deep understanding of necromancy and ancient dark spells. They can manipulate the life force of lesser beings and temporarily bind spirits to objects.
- Prophetic Insight: They have visions that sometimes offer glimpses of possible futures. While these visions are not always clear or linear, they use them to guide their actions and foresee potential threats.
- Mind Control and Influence: The Prophesier has developed techniques to bend the will of others, influencing their thoughts and actions subtly, making others believe they are acting on their own will. They did not use mind control on their pupil, as the pupil was an orphan and they had taken her when she was about 5 years old. The Prophesier is a parental-like figure and mentor.
Relationships
- Hazza D’ur: They view Hazza D’ur not as a mere predecessor but almost as a divine figure whose legacy they are destined to fulfill. The Prophesier believes they are the one who will make the legacy great. Hazza D’ur is irked that the Prophesier does not seek immortality, but is impressed by their determination to make his line interesting and fulfilling, so he helps them and teaches them his magic.
- Vangelis: The Prophesier has mixed feelings toward Vangelis. They see him as a necessary, albeit flawed, link in the chain of Skull Sorcerers. They do not know the extent of his accomplishments, as it is all foggy to them in terms of their prophecy, but he seems to be more desperate than ambitious. This makes the Prophesier more motivated to make the legacies great before Vangelis’s emergence in time.
- Cultus Cranni Followers: The Prophesier begins to rebuild the Cultus Cranni, gathering new followers with promises of dark power and eternal knowledge. They choose members with great care, seeking only those who are willing to sacrifice everything for the cause.
- The Pupil: The pupil goes by the name of Thelia. The Prophesier found her as a child and is a parental figure and mentor.
Final Words
The last time anyone sees The Prophesier, it’s as they lay silently, bedridden from sickness, watching their pupil train with the help of Hazza D’ur outside the window of their home. The Prophesier, although strong, is weakening, and knows that their pupil will be even greater. Without saying a word, they stand up with difficulty and turn to leave, and the wind carries a whisper that only they can hear.
"And so it begins again..."
This ending foreshadows The Prophesier’s rise and fall as the new wielder of Hazza D’ur’s legacy and sets the stage for the future battles that await Ninjago against this new embodiment of the Skull Sorcerer’s will.
Random facts about The Prophesier
The Prophesier loves ginger beer and cold evenings! They often lay outside with their pupil on blankets and cushions during evenings, looking at the stars.

Hi, it's me: https://www.tumblr.com/aphrodieties/770880309786017792/tw-mental-health-issues-mentions-of-abuse?source=share
Can I be your 🪵 anon?
So, I'm sort of having conflict right now. I know exactly what I want, and I can imagine the concept of it pretty well. I'm trying to do sats, but there's SO MANY DETAILS. It's really hard to visualize. And I kinda believe that in order to manifest something, let's say my dream house, I need to visualize it and be in it. So I'm trying really hard to visualize, feel with my senses, be in it in 1st person, etc., but it's really hard. I feel like I need to micromanage the details and personally create every aspect of my dream life.
But I'm starting to think that it's better to give up on visualization and sats, because my imagination is so damn blurry, it's feels like I'm forcing fulfillment, and fulfilling my desires is supposed to be practically effortlessly, because I'm just being happy in imagination and then having trust and faith.
I can imagine the concept of my desires pretty well, I mean these desires came from me, I know what I want and how I want it. And I kinda feel good when I'm imagining with no plan or methods. I just imagine myself giving a house tour, talking to an audience about how good and relaxing my life is, writing a success story and explaining how much my life has changed how I live my day to day life, like going shopping, doing my hair, taking a walk in the beach, eating ice cream, etc. I just imagine it, no visualization, sats, affirmations or anything else. It's like child like imagination, I don't even think about manifestation or the law of assumption.
But imaginatinon with no intention, basically daydreaming, doesn't manifest my desires, maybe because there's no faith, trust, and actual acceptance?
Basically, what I'm asking is: is it okay to completely drop methods, and my daydreaming and just completely trust that if I can conceptualize it, accept, and have faith is enough. Like you said, focus on the fact that it is real, not feeling it real.
It's so simple that almost feels wrong. I have my desires, and that's it? No fulfilling, no methods, no plan, no routine, no forcing knowing or feelings, basically not trying to manifest because creation is finished, it is real. I only need to base my identity and state in imagination, have fun, and don't let the 3d tell me who I am?
It seems so easy and effortless, I don't even fully trust it. I mean, that's it, nothing more? But I'm willing to do it this way, because if other people succeeded just deciding, with a simple intention, and accepting their desires, why can't it? I mean, everything is possible. Maybe I should just yield to imagination.
Ahhhh my first emoji anon! I’m so excited. Welcome to the realm of beauty and abundance, 🪵 anon. It’s completely okay to drop methods if they aren’t working for you. You don’t need to force visualization, SATS, or any specific technique if it feels like it’s creating resistance. The core of Neville Goddard’s teachings is that creation is finished and that what you desire already exists in consciousness. What matters most is that you accept your desires as already done, trust in them, and shift into the state of having them. You can absolutely manifest by just conceptualizing your desires and then embodying the feeling of living that life—without the need for micromanaging details or creating every aspect through visualization. Your daydreaming and imagining yourself enjoying the life you want can be just as valid as anything else. Simply view it as a reflection of you entering the state of your desire, and that’s what creates the shift in consciousness. You don’t need to “try” to manifest, because, as you said, creation is finished. It’s about realizing that the life you desire is already yours, and living from that knowing. Trust that what you want is already true in your 4D, and just keep returning to the feeling of living in the end. It might feel too simple because we’ve been conditioned to believe that manifesting requires effort, but trust that simplicity is where the power lies. If you’ve conceptualized your desires and accepted them, you don’t need to try to force or push any specific method. Just focus on the fact that it’s real and let it unfold. You’ve got this, and yes, everything is possible.

NEW OC!! WOOO!!
it probably doesn't make much sense for me to make new ocs anymore since.. uh. i don't really want to write anything for them rn and i just see this blog as a place to store my twst oc art in, but hey! here, have new sillies that will appear in my art from now on.
this little guy is based on.. well, the painted roses from alice in wonderland! yes, this is the third rose boy of mine. yes. what do you want from me, it's hard to come up with unique disney counterparts and i also thought that this concept is really cool.
anyway, you can read his profile under the cut!
name: darren redleaf (ダレン ・レッドリーフ)
age: 18 y/o
gender: male
species: human
birth date: september 29
zodiac sign: libra
height: 176 cm
hair color: white with light coral highlights
eye color: tea green
homeland: queendom of roses
family: father and mother
school: night raven college
dorm: heartslabyul
school year: third
occupation: student
club: science club
best subject: art
dominant hand: left
favorite food: strawberry tarts, because riddle likes them
least favorite food: candied violets, because trey likes them
hobbies: gardening, painting
talent: knowing all the latest trends
unique magic: "red rose or white rose?" darren's unique magic controls two more darrens: one of them has red hair and the other one has white hair and both of them are called "red rose" and "white rose" respectively. "red rose" is mean, loud, doesn't care about the feelings of others and is a huge troublemaker. "white rose" is a gentle, soft and caring person, who is very polite and puts others' feelings and needs before his own. he's very obedient and never questions other people's actions and orders. darren can turn into one of them, using his unique magic, and other people won't be able to recognize that it's actually darren and will believe that it's a completely different person. but if somebody knows about darren's unique magic, his magic won't work on them and they'll still be able to see his "real" self. darren's transformation depends on what he has learned about the "preferences" of a specific person and if he thinks they prefer someone more gentle, he'll turn into white rose and if he thinks they prefer someone more mean, he'll pick red rose. if darren keeps using his unique magic for too long, his memories will start to become blurry and he can start questioning his identity, not being sure if he's darren, red rose or white rose right now.
dislikes: people who are way too close with riddle, most heartslabyul students
personality: darren has a very good reputation among heartslabyul students. he's kind, he's polite, he makes sure everyone is doing okay and he also knows all 810 rules of this dorm, so he's able to stop someone from accidentally (or not really) breaking them. he's often teased for being a nerd though because of him being lowkey obsessed with those rules and a lot of students find it shocking that he actually does follow all of them. he has a soft, almost honey-like voice and his aura is able to calm almost anyone down. he also somehow knows everything about everyone's likes and dislikes, to the point that it's.. kinda concerning, since he can guess some people's type or crush and he won't need merrill's unique magic for that. but sometimes you can see darren just sitting and staring into nothingness and not making any sounds, some people are not even sure if he's breathing when that happens. if you try to make him pay attention to you when he's doing that, he will act a bit strange and will ask what's going on. sometimes he can literally just start listing some heartslabyul's rules before he's finally able to remember where he is right now and who he's talking to. but overall, he never causes any trouble. he always knows what everyone wants from him and he gives it to them. you don't have to worry about him. he won't break any rules. he is very, very obedient.
notable relationships:
so, why is darren so obsessed with heartslabyul's rules? well.. the reason is simple. he actually was friends with riddle, trey and chenya back when they were younger. he was the third friend that riddle made. he was the quiet friend. he was the friend that often couldn't be there to play with them simply because he had no energy for that, even though he really wanted to see them. and.. he eventually became the friend that nobody remembered. when he started attending nrc, trey needed some time before he remembered who darren was. but in the end, trey was able to remember who darren was. riddle wasn't. in fact, darren didn't even know most things that trey and chenya knew about riddle. for example, he didn't know anything about his relationship with his mother. so when riddle stopped hanging out with trey and chenya, darren finally was able to start spending more time with them, but he didn't know the reason why riddle was no longer there. and trey and chenya thought that he already knew. so naturally, darren started to think that it was his fault and that riddle is avoiding him. but it's okay! it's okay, they're together again now. it's okay, darren will memorize all the rules just to impress riddle. it's okay, darren will tell him which students broke the rules this time to make riddle praise him. it's okay, darren will figure out which rose riddle prefers and if it's truly the red one. it's okay. it's okay, darren won't mess up this time. he will fix their relationship. everything will be fine. they'll be friends again.
no, darren does not like trey, even though they really were friends and he did like him when they were kids. but now darren thinks that him and riddle are a little bit too close. can't trey just leave riddle alone at least for a second and let darren become closer with him? what, is he in love with him or something? oh, okay, sorry, sorry, he just got a little.. annoyed, haha. also, he feels like trey is hiding something from him. he knows so much about riddle and darren knows so little. but it's okay, darren knows that he's the best friend riddle could ever wish for. and he won't let trey steal that title from him.
hm? what does he think about chenya?.. he's fine. mostly. he goes to a different school anyway, so he doesn't appear that often and that means he's not as close with riddle as darren, so he doesn't have to think about him as a rival. honestly, if darren had to choose, he'd rather become closer with chenya rather than trey. he feels like he doesn't have to pretend like he's somebody else around him and he doesn't have to "change its color" for him.
yes, he doesn't like seth. just who does he think he is? riddle would never like a guy like him, right? seth is so arrogant, so annoying, so noisy, he breaks as many rules as he can, he can quit literally anything at any moment just because he finds it boring and his style is so.. again, riddle would never like someone like him, right? and if he does.. w-well, m-maybe darren will have to turn into a red rose for him.
fun facts:
he actually kinda admires hayden and he can see right through his lies, but they rarely interact exactly because hayden knows that darren understands him too well. and also because hayden knows that the best way to manipulate him would be just.. turning into an exact copy of riddle. and he doesn't want to do that.
it's hard to say if what he feels for riddle is romantic or platonic. darren thinks that his feelings are platonic, but some students feel like that's not the case and it's definitely something stronger. i see his feelings as just pure obsession and an extremely strong desire to serve him and be by his side. nothing more, nothing less. it doesn't mean that darren would be against going on a date with him or being kissed by him though.
darren gets a little too excited when he sees riddle punishing the rulebreakers, to the point that he can just start laughing and/or blushing. the thought of riddle punishing darren himself both terrifies him and excites him just as much and he even screamed like a fangirl when he imagined it once.
he wears a necklace that's supposed to resemble thorns and it really is very sharp and even when he's still wearing it, when you look closely, you can see the red marks that it leaves on his skin. he doesn't even notice them though and finds it comfortable.
him and allen are definitely very similar (their names even sound almost the same in japanese sjdksldl), but still, when it comes to love and other feelings, they're very different. again, what darren feels for riddle is mostly just obsession and not romantic love, meanwhile allen cares A LOT about romance and it's his life's main purpose. also, darren doesn't really have any close friends even though his reputation is so good, meanwhile allen is hated and/or feared by almost everyone, but he still does have some friends (like jay). and darren is okay with throwing his entire personality away (has he ever had "his own" personality?..) for someone he likes, meanwhile allen would rather force his crush to accept him no matter what kind of person he is.
darren joined the science club to keep an eye on trey.
his hobbies are a reference to the roses being painted: it makes sense for him to like things like gardening and painting, though i don't think he's that passionate about them. i think it's just something he does to appear "normal".
azul is trying to become closer with him because of how smart darren is and even kinda wants him to transfer to octavinelle, because someone like him could be very useful, but darren just ignores him every time.
the reason why his talent is "knowing all the latest trends" is simple: he has to know what kind of people and what kind of things other people like so that it's easier for him to use his unique magic on them.

Anyway as I was saying yesterday before this got kind of derailed a bit, I think I am trying to make it clear in my story, Moriarty is asexual but not in a 'split attraction' way. Yes he's aromantic and is just as aromantic as any other aromantic person and he will use that word sometimes but he's overall an asexual who cannot and does not split his attraction up like that because we do exist, and anyway really no other sexual orientation is split up like this as the default or the norm and the 'SAM' is actually a comparatively recent thing which people have sort of tried to foist on all asexuals whether we actually like it or not but it just does not fit some of us. And I don't think it fits Moriarty anyway. But also...
I don't know why there seems to be this creeping shift towards making Moriarty very young in adaptations/non-canonical texts now (but not showing him and Moran as both young together, which would probably be far more interesting to see) but he's not that young in my story and as such I think it's even less likely he'd be using something like the SAM as the norm, because this concept just didn't really exist when he would have first understood he was asexual.(Plus also he's not really the type of person who'd be going to LGBT+ gatherings or be out there waving flags in the Pride parades or anything like that, which makes it even less likely he'd be using the most modern terms for himself.)
I mean he does also see himself as gay too. In fact in some situations that's going to be something he prioritises over his asexuality, especially because a lot of people are probably just not going to get how he can be multiple seemingly contradictory things and he doesn't care enough about most people to try to explain it. (I think he is more open about everything with Moran even when they hardly know each other though because Moran does seem like someone who just gets that things can be blurry sometimes, and also at least initially Moran's really far more interested in consent than figuring out the nuances of someone's identity.)

I'm eternally mad that I will never have the competence to make a video game, because I have a great concept for a survival horror game. It's all first person, your character rolls up to the spooky place where bad shit is going down, immediately gets trapped there... y'know, the standard fare.
Then as soon as the intro bit is over, your character takes a nasty (scripted) fall. A pair of glasses fall off your face and break as soon as they hit the ground.
Your character has severe myopia, and now no longer has any vision aids to fix it. Everything that isn't basically in arms reach is now a blurry mess. Want to see something without getting in its personal space? You can still see your phone screen, so the camera works like makeshift glasses, but having your phone on gives off some light that draws more attention to you, not to mention it totally occupies one hand. And probably doesn't work while running.
You get to have some guns in this game, but most only work with two hands to hold them. For added 'fuck you', there's definitely one type of enemy that is very hostile, very good at spotting you if you approach, and is best picked off quickly from a long distance. Another type of monster is actually peaceful and wont attack... but if you take even one potshot at it, you're dead, it'll tear you apart without even trying. These two monsters look differently in detail, but are functionally identical as blurs. Just to stop anyone from getting too comfortable with sniping blurry masses from a distance.
Indie horror games are either like "You're on a submarine because you were sent to explore a mysterious pit in the ocean floor and you slowly realize you weren't meant to resurface" or "Mr. Scrubkus is gonna get you!!!!! Don't let him get you!!!!" And Mr. Scrubkus is the one everyone talks about

Is Your Phone Tapped? What to Know About Police Surveillance in Queensland
Tumblr media
Phone tapping sounds like something out of a spy movie. Secret recordings. Bugs in lamps. Agents in vans. But here in Queensland, the reality is a little less Hollywood—and a lot more real than most people think.
Police actually have the legal power to tap phones. And not just for suspected criminals in some massive crime ring. Everyday people can get caught up in it too—especially if they’re connected to someone under investigation.
So, what can police actually do? How far can their reach go? And how do you even know if you're being watched?
Let’s unpack it in plain English.
Can Police Tap Your Phone in Queensland?
Yes, they can. But there’s a process.
Police can’t just decide to listen in for fun. They need what’s called a telecommunications interception warrant. This type of warrant comes from a judge or other authorised figure and is governed by national legislation—the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979.
Once they’ve got that green light, they’re allowed to tap your phone calls, read your texts, and sometimes even track messages from encrypted apps. But this sort of thing is supposed to be reserved for the big stuff. Think:
Large-scale drug operations
Terror-related activities
Serious organised crime
Child abuse investigations
Fraud that involves big money
It’s not something they use lightly. At least, that’s how the law is supposed to work.
What Qualifies as a "Serious Offence"?
This is where things get blurry.
The law defines a serious offence as something that carries seven years or more in prison. Sounds like it’s limited to the worst crimes, right? Not exactly. That kind of sentence can apply to:
Drug supply (not just manufacturing)
Some property crimes
Cyber fraud
Identity theft
Certain assaults
So it’s not always gang lords or international hackers. Regular people can fall under suspicion too.
Say someone you know is being watched. Maybe you’ve sent a few texts back and forth. If the police think your chats could help their case, they might include your number in their warrant. You wouldn’t even know.
Can They Listen In Without a Warrant?
Not usually—but there are exceptions.
In most criminal investigations, a warrant is required. That said, if it’s something like national security, intelligence agencies like ASIO have broader powers and can sometimes bypass the usual checks.
There’s also the concept of emergency interception. Let’s say police believe something dangerous is about to happen—right now. They might tap communications first and get official approval after the fact. It’s not supposed to be routine, but it does happen.
And while Queensland Police follow stricter rules, certain forms of digital surveillance—like collecting metadata—might not need a full warrant.
What Else Can Police Monitor?
Phone taps are just one piece of the puzzle. Police can also go after:
Stored messages (like old texts or emails)
App data, if they can access your phone
Metadata—who you called, when, how long
GPS data and movement patterns
Online activity, sometimes even from social media accounts
If they get a surveillance device warrant, they can use listening devices, hidden cameras, and GPS trackers in your home or car. That kind of surveillance falls under different laws—like the Surveillance Devices Act 2004 and Queensland’s Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000.
And here’s the kicker: for certain types of metadata, they might not even need court permission.
Could Your Phone Be Tapped Right Now?
Probably not. But it’s possible.
Most people will never be on the receiving end of phone surveillance. But if you’re tied in any way to someone under investigation, you could end up on the radar.
Here’s a rough scenario. Say your roommate is involved in something dodgy, and police are monitoring their calls. You’ve sent them messages, or your voice is picked up in the background. Suddenly, you’re part of the digital footprint.
You haven’t done anything wrong, but that doesn’t necessarily protect your privacy.
Some signs people think might indicate a phone tap include:
Calls cutting out strangely
Weird background noise
Messages arriving late
Battery draining faster than usual
But honestly, most modern surveillance tech is invisible. If your phone’s being monitored with a legal warrant, there’s no obvious trace.
What Are Your Rights?
If you think your privacy’s been invaded, you do have options.
While you might not be able to stop surveillance that’s already legally authorised, you can:
Get legal advice (don’t wait until it’s too late)
Stay off the phone for sensitive topics
Avoid sending messages that could be taken the wrong way
Keep your device secure—use strong passwords and don’t share them
It’s uncomfortable, but even innocent conversations can raise red flags when taken out of context. That’s why being cautious matters, especially if you're close to someone facing legal trouble.
How Surveillance Powers Are Expanding
Australia has been steadily increasing the legal powers given to police and intelligence agencies. Some of the new laws include:
The Identify and Disrupt Act 2021, which lets authorities take over accounts or alter data
The Assistance and Access Act, which forces companies to help break into encrypted devices or platforms
More flexible rules for metadata access and data sharing
While these laws are aimed at big-time crime, critics argue they can sweep up innocent people along the way. That’s a hard thing to face, especially when the line between “target” and “bystander” isn’t always clear.
Real-World Example to Think About
Picture this: someone’s under investigation for running an online scam. You’ve spoken to them a few times about totally unrelated stuff—maybe buying something or catching up for coffee.
Police dig through their messages and see your name pop up. If they believe those messages might hold clues, they could apply to monitor you too.
That doesn’t mean you’ve broken any law. But you’re still now part of the circle they’re watching.
It’s a stressful spot to be in, especially if you had no clue what was going on behind the scenes.
What Can You Do?
Most people won’t end up under this kind of surveillance. But staying smart is never a bad idea. A few simple tips:
Keep your phone secure
Use encrypted apps when chatting
Don’t let others use your accounts or devices
Be cautious with sensitive conversations—phone or text isn’t always private
If police approach you—get advice before saying anything
And if you’re caught up in a criminal investigation—or just unsure where you stand—getting advice from an experienced criminal defence professional can make a big difference. You can search for Brisbane criminal lawyers or contact a local legal service to better understand your rights and next steps.
FAQs
Can police tap your phone without telling you? Yes. If they have a warrant, there’s no requirement to inform you. You’ll often only find out if it becomes part of evidence in a case.
Do encrypted apps protect your messages? They help, but if police access your unlocked phone, they can still read those messages. Encryption protects in transit, not necessarily on your device.
Can police access deleted messages? Sometimes, yes. Deleted data isn’t always gone for good—especially if backups exist.
Is it illegal to suspect you're being tapped? Not at all. But making accusations without evidence can backfire. Get legal help if you’re genuinely concerned.
Final Thoughts
In an age where almost everything is digital, it’s easy to forget how much of our life lives inside our phones. Messages. Photos. Calls. Locations. All of it can be tracked—sometimes legally, sometimes quietly.
Police do need legal permission to tap phones, but the rules have shifted over time. It’s easier now than ever before for authorities to gain access to someone’s private life, especially if that person is loosely connected to a criminal investigation.
If something doesn’t feel right, or if you’re caught up in something you don’t fully understand, don’t guess. Stay informed. Ask questions. Get help. Because when it comes to your rights and your privacy, what you don’t know really can hurt you.
