and i want it to be them bothering Will, only a little bit. nothing crazy just a couple rude comments.

but then i want it to look like it's building up to something worse.

Like you can tell it's going to escalate because one day we see the group of bullies after dark, sneaking into the school with cans of spray paint. they laugh maliciously as they paint something like "fag" or "queer" on his locker, and I want the audience to think "oh no, poor Will :("

The next day the party walks into the school hallway to see a bunch of people gathered around--

I don't know if Pokémon cards existed back then, but if they did they'd be huge fans

When they cuddle in bed Mike desperately wants to be the small spoon but cannot do it easily because he's the taller one

They're both the kind of person that has a tumblr blog and only post things related to fandoms (kinda like us) and they are mini-celebrities on Tumblr due to their content. Mike writes fanfiction and Will makes fanart, sometimes from those fanfictions.

Both sleep in late, but Mike sleeps in even more than Will does. Will at least tries to wake up at a reasonable time

They obviously publish a comic book together

Mike is clingy and loves PDA, Will not so much, but he gives in most of the time

This scene is so funny because I always imagine they'll be like this as adults. Like imagine when they're in college and they have to live in a pretty shit apartment and there's constantly spiders everywhere and every day Will just casually goes up to Mike and is like "hey there's a spider in the shower so I'm not using it until it's gone" and Mike having to go kill it 😭

It's an unspoken rule in the party that Mike has to be right next to Will. When they're all walking, or standing, or having a sleepover with sleeping bags, or posing for photos - Mike and Will must be shoulder to shoulder.

One time Lucas took a photo with him in the middle and Mike whined about for months. Dustin once took the last open seat next to Will during lunch and Mike stared at him creepily until Dustin got the message and traded seats.

Even the Wheelers know that when Karen lets the boys come eat dinner with them, that Mike and Will are to sit together at the table cuz the last time she tried to switch things up and try something new, Mike lectured to her how "no one else passes the salad bowl or bread rolls as perfectly to Will like he does blah blah blah"

Jancy will make way for Byler in Season 5

Hear me out. In Season 1, after Jonathan and Nancy discover the Upside Down and nearly get attacked by a Demogorgon, he stays over in her room. This is when Nancy says:

And that leads to:

We're already about 90% sure that the Byers will be staying at the Wheeler house at least in the beginning of the season, because they've got nowhere else to stay in Hawkins.

Karen knows by now that Jancy is a thing, so there is no way she's letting them share a room. The compromise? She's gonna ask Mike to move in with Nancy for while and give up his room for the Byers brothers to share.

And then.... inevitably... as we have already seen happen earlier in Murray's house.... Jonathan will sneak into Nancy's room or vice versa. They'll tell Mike he has to swap and sleep with Will instead.

And this will make way for the best Jancy/Byler parallel EVER.

Since this is Mike's room, I think there will be a role reversal here and Will will be the one sleeping on the floor. That's when Mike will say to him:

Can you just come up here?

I definitely think Mike will be the one to say this, because Will has accepted in his mind that the two of them will never work out. This will also be a great way to signal to the audience that Byler is NOT one-sided.

Now, of course, I'm not actually expecting anything physical to happen between them. But there will definitely be some pillow talk that blurs the lines between platonic and romantic.

Mike: Please promise me that you'll fight. I can't lose you again.

Will: Don't worry. You'll have Eleven, right?

*Mike's face looks troubled and conflicted*

Mike: ...It's...different.

Will: What do you mean?

and then... BOOM. They're interrupted by something and the storyline picks up in Volume 2. This is my headcanon, and I will DIE ON THIS HILL.

I also wouldn't be opposed to another Byler hand-hold during this scene (so that it's made abundantly clear to the GA that this is happening and this is real).

byler kiss where the kiss is so quick, it's got someone's eyes widening and their breath hitching and the other pulls away muttering a string of apologies because shit, they read it all wrong— until the first drags them down for the most passionate and hungry and yearning kiss in the universe because they've both been pining for so long. and now?

now, they're both getting something they thought they could never have.
