This summer all of our Bible study groups will combine for one big group. I am excited to be leading this group and look forward to meeting many of you that I have not had the pleasure of getting to know yet. I hope you will join me as we study the Beatitudes. It will be super casual - come when you can and bring your middle and high school age kids (boys and girls) along too.

The beatitudes, statements of characteristics and blessing, are part of the Sermon on the Mount that Jesus spoke and is recorded in Matthew. Through these 8 beatitudes, Jesus teaches of virtues and values in life that will result in blessings and rewards.

As a follow up to our Spring Serve campaign for young moms we are excited to be the first group to host an Embrace Grace class in the central Ohio area! Embrace Grace is a national program that’s designed for groups like ours to lead young moms through their pregnancy and first few years. 

Having an unplanned pregnancy or being a young, single mom can be a time of mixed and bittersweet emotions but the one thing you need to know is that you are not alone. Embrace Grace was designed to help and encourage young single women that are experiencing an unintended pregnancy. This group exists to provide spiritual and emotional support for you.

We need women to sponsor girls going through the class. SPONSOR A GIRL HERE.

We also need volunteers to help watch children or help with the young moms. VOLUNTEER HERE.

THANK YOU for your generous support during our Spring Serve for young moms! You sponsored over 100 young moms to attend our dinner gathering. You donated “The Jesus Storybook Bible” to each of our young moms at the gathering (an amazing tool for the young moms and their children to continue to hear the gospel story after our campaign is over). You donated truck loads of baby gear to over 100 young moms - and they were so, so grateful! Over 80 of you volunteered at The Great Giveaway and The Table Gathering. And you donated diapers and wipes to help offset the ongoing cost of these young moms basic baby care needs. Do you know a pregnant teen or a young women who just had a baby? Invite them to attend our Embrace Grace class.

Having an unplanned pregnancy or being a young, single mom can be a time of mixed and bittersweet emotions but the one thing you need to know is that you are not alone. Embrace Grace was designed to help and encourage young single women that are experiencing an unintended pregnancy. This group exists to provide spiritual and emotional support for you.

Often part of the struggle is trying to find people that can relate to your situation and understand all of the highs and lows of emotions that you are experiencing. By joining our Embrace Grace group, you will have the opportunity to meet other moms who may be in a similar life season.

We are here for you and want you to know that there is hope!  This isn't the end of your life . . .it's just the beginning. Being a single young mom is not your identity or label, it's a season you're in. We can help you embrace and find joy in your season!

Embrace Grace was created to help encourage, educate and empower young, single moms just like you, and to speak into your life to make sure that you know that your dreams are not over. God still has an amazing destiny and purpose created just for you, all you have to do is grab a hold of it and believe. He wants to be in relationship with you because He put gifts and talents inside of you that only YOU have. By joining an Embrace Grace group you will learn how to dream big while also receiving help with the practical and spiritual aspects of life. There is a place for you!

This past weekend we filled a gym with baby clothes, blankets, strollers, cribs, gear, and toys. Over 100 moms were assisted by personal shoppers who helped them find the items they needed while over 175 kids were entertained by our young volunteers! It was a great day! We are so thankful for the Friday volunteers who schlepped countless boxes and bags up a flight of stairs and then sorted and organized it all. We are also thankful for the energetic volunteers who kept their enthusiasm going all day long on Saturday! It took an amazing team to make this happen! THANK YOU ALL! Last, but certainly not least, we are grateful for the hundreds of donuts that were donated by Buckeye Donuts for us to enjoy!!! 

It’s not to late to be a part of our Spring Serve for Young Moms. We need about 30 more women to purchase tickets for The Gathering on April 24th. Please consider supporting this event for young moms. We have over 100 young moms RSVP’d for the gathering already. Even if you can’t come consider purchasing a ticket and donating your seat to a young mom.

This is Holy Week. It started with Jesus entering Jerusalem with a crowd of people signing praises and taking the shirts off their backs for him. It ended with him giving his life not only for the people who celebrated him but for those who persecuted and killed him too. That is the essence of the loving God we serve. Take time this week to consider the magnitude of the gift he gave to you on Easter and what your response is to that gift.

Happy New Year! It’s time for a fresh start. One of my new year’s resolutions is to live more simply: to keep what’s important at the top of the list and clear out the clutter in my schedule and my home.

More specifically I want to create space in my schedule to hear God. It’s hard to hear Him in a world that inundates us with information that produces fear instead of joy - a world where the amount of “things” we have brings anxiety instead of peace, a world that provides more distractions from Him than opportunities to draw near to Him. But I know that when I do listen, He has a lot to say. And what He says makes me feel alive and free in a way I have never felt before. 

If you feel like this is your story too, you aren’t alone. Join one of our Bible studies this year - it will be the most rewarding thing you do!

NEW: WINTER BIBLE STUDY Starting January 2018 Join us for an honest conversation around the table on Biblical hospitality. It is about more than sharing a meal or inviting friends over. It is the work of making room in our lives for others. True hospitality is a posture of charity toward the poor, of welcome toward the displaced, and of humility and gentleness toward the hurting.

In this study, we will see what Scripture has to say about making room for others—our neighbors, the poor, our betrayers, strangers, widows, orphans, children, and more. As we do, we will find ourselves reflected among them. For  while we were still sinners, Christ made room for us.

“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” - Romans 15:7

We have big plans this spring! As our spring outreach we have decided to love on girls in our community who have, or are, experiencing teen pregnancy. There are several ways for you to be involved. We invite you to join us for a meeting Monday, January 8th to hear about ways to volunteer or be involved as we love these girls through their stories.

We will be dividing into the following teams for the 2018 spring season to love the crisis pregnancy community from those who have experienced a crisis pregnancy to those who work with these girls everyday bringing hope and love to their situations: BABY BASICS Donation Drive (This team will coordinate a donation drive for diapers, bottles and wipes to help stock the shelves of local crisis pregnancy centers. This will take place over a few weeks time.) SHARE THE LOVE Baby Bananza - Baby Essentials Giveaway (This team will coordinate and run a baby essentials give away for girls experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Maternity clothes, baby clothes, blankets, linens, toys, bouncy seats, cribs etc. will be donated and set up in a sale type fashion only everything will be free. This will be a one-weekend event.) THE TABLE GATHERING - LOVED The Table’s outreach dinner to girls who have or are experiencing a crisis pregnancy. (This team will plan and execute a Table gathering for teens who are or have experienced pregnancy. Dinner, give aways and goodie bags plus a speaker to share their story of how God brought them through a similar time. This is a one-night event.) I hope you will consider serving on one of these teams to help us pull off a spring where we bless this community from top to bottom. Meeting their physical, emotional and spiritual needs as well encouraging the ones who work with them day in and day out. One of my favorite things we started this past year was our Bible studies. I had no idea these would be such a blessing to me. It has been a privilege to do life together with other women who desire to know Jesus more deeply and wrestle with how to give that gift to our children and quiet our lives enough to actually hear Him. If you have a heart for displaced youth, this is an organization that is organizing the Church to step in before they enter the foster system. Fall is finally here! Bask in the cooler temperatures this week.  Feast your eyes on the brilliant colors of the trees and the leaves in your yard.  How beautiful it is! 

I challenge you this week to take a break from your normal busyness, invite the family to join you for s’mores around the fire pit, or ask a few close friends over for coffee. Just sit together, phones off, and be honest with each other about how you are doing. You go first - share something you are struggling with or something that has been heavy on your mind. Then ask each other how you can help one another. 

Now is a great time to stop and breathe before the crazy holiday season hits you. If you need a space to reprioritize, reconnect or re-set yourself, our friend, Melissa, over at Create Space has planned a half-day retreat close to home where you can do just that.

Join me for an afternoon as we unwind, connect with our bodies, and listen for what God might be speaking to each of us. We will weave together contemplative prayer, journaling, creativity, and yoga for a truly beautiful, holistic prayer experience.

Together, we will: enjoy a centering prayer tea meditation, creatively listen to God’s word and practice ways to engage with Him through journaling, create beautiful prayer cards to be used in our own prayer lives and/or as intentions for our yoga practices, and practice a restorative yoga session, learning a sequence to take home and use in our own practices.

This week we have some local opportunities to share with you. 

Are you in need of a deep breath, a break from the crazy fall pace, a time to reconnect with yourself and reprioritize? Our friend, Melissa, over at Create Space has planned a half-day retreat close to home where you can rest and reconnect. 

We also have some informational/training opportunities in areas of great need: suburban poverty, human trafficking and the drug epidemic. We have some awesome organizations in Columbus doing amazing work. If you are looking for a place to love on the hurting in our city there are three opportunities coming up to help you determine if one of those areas is a fit for you. Take a look!

FAMILY ESL PROGRAM Helping families step out of poverty through education Runs October-April on Tuesday and Thursday evenings

SON Ministries is looking for volunteers to help support their ESL Program, a full family educational program where each family member is taking steps out of poverty through education. There are many ways to volunteer from academic support for children, watching young children while their parents attend classes, assist ESL classrooms as an aid, hospitality and so much more.

In this study, we will walk through key passages in the Book of John that show us Jesus is enough. Realize we don’t have to prove anything because Jesus has proven everything. Discover how our hungry hearts and thirsty souls can only be filled by the One who says, “If anyone is thirsty he should come to me and drink! The one who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.”

We chose this study because it has Biblical truth and practical ideas on how to LIVE LOVED everyday. Please join us as we gather as women to love and encourage each other through the study of God’s Word.

Join us this week as we continue to lift up our friends in Texas who are suffering great loss in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. As the news begins to switch to current stories, thousands of people’s lives are still in turmoil suffering complete loss of their homes and belongings. While we move on, they will be working to get their lives back to normal for months to come. Today has been designated a Day of Giving in Columbus for the people suffering in the Gulf Coast region. You can donate online or drop off items at NBC4 Studios on 3165 Olentangy River Road between 6 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. today where they will have trucks ready to take your donations down to the Houston area. We are beyond excited to announce that The Table is launching “Settings”, a home and event styling business. We have been hosting beautiful dinners for local women over the past few years and many of you have said we should sell what we do. Well, we are taking you up on that suggestion! You can now bring the look of The Table to your home or gathering! We offer styling services as well as rental of our centerpieces and decor. And when you buy from us, you are helping us sustain The Table’s ministry to love and support the women in our city. When you rent from us you are also helping us bring light to the darkness, healing to the broken and hope to the hopeless in Columbus. Thank you for supporting us and our city in this way! OUR STORY

We are a group of women who love beautiful, timeless style for our homes and gatherings. We also have a heart for the broken and hurting in our community. We put those passions together and began hosting beautiful and inspiring dinner gatherings for women to bridge the gap between the hopeless and hopeful. Our hearts and efforts were all-in bringing beauty, light, dignity and hope to the hurting, trafficked, orphaned, addicted and homeless. Then one day we realized while our hearts were full, our wallets were not and we needed a way to sustain our mission. So we decided to do what we do for profit in order to sustain and grow our non-profit work. 

That’s when Settings was born. 

When you rent our beautiful wooden cake stands or slated flower boxes for your event you are helping bring hope and light to the darkest areas of Columbus. When you ask us to style your wedding to look like your too-cute-for-words pinterest board you are helping provide a beautiful experience and good food for some women who are physically and spiritually broken right here in your city. When you invite us into your home to help you create a warm and inviting environment for your family and neighbors you are helping us heal the brokenhearted and lost throughout our city.
