While im a bit busy heres a doodle of one of my ocs Arlene! I usually post this stuff on my insta but ive taken a until August 22nd break from all other social media and i wont be posting there.
Lore if u find it interesting...
Funny enough shes actually the odd one out from my other ocs. Theres nothing really special about her. She doesnt have like natural powers just a pen from her grandma that can write things into existence. Essentially shes a human with a cool ass pen. Thats what sets her apart from her friend group but they love her anyways! Despite being totally human shes still welcome around magical (stranger camps as theyre called by humans) institutes because "That pen of hers is strange". While Arlene's pen lovingly named Plumita by Erlan can most literally write ANYTHING she can describe into existance Arlene is an absolutely atrocious writer with an insane lack of creativity and can really only get it to make a completely plain vanilla cupcake which mind you tastes horrendous. She once let Erin give it a whirl and as Erin does he managed to create a weapon of mass destruction. Even though the situation was well terrifying it showcased the actual power of the pen; the pen that Arlene's elderly grandma had been keeping in her purse.
Arlene's bday is Jan 4th 2003 (capricorn)
Plumita is believed to be about 4,000 years old.
Arlene has no middle name and her full name is Arlene Omar.
Arlene is actually mixed but she never really elaborates claiming it's not necessary. (Shes french and iraqi)

Always talkin abt the firefly and how its "going extinct" YOU ARE UNDER SPELLS PEOPLE!!! They are labeled least concerned and theres other 2,000 species. They just dont live in the city. I see at least 2,000 a night in the country. Instead talk to me abt the Vaquita a critically endangered porpoise that only lives in california. Theres only abt 10 left of them. AND THEY ARE ADORABLE!!!

Coronal Loops on the Sun Image Credit & Copyright: Andrea Vanoni
Explanation: Our Sun frequently erupts in loops. Hot solar plasma jumps off the Sun’s surface into prominences, with the most common type of prominence being a simple loop. The loop shape originates from the Sun’s magnetic field, which is traced by spiraling electrons and protons. Many loops into the Sun’s lower corona are large enough to envelop the Earth and are stable enough to last days. They commonly occur near active regions that also include dark sunspots. The featured panel shows four loops, each of which was captured near the Sun’s edge during 2024 and 2025. The images were taken by a personal telescope in Mantova, Italy and in a very specific color of light emitted primarily by hydrogen. Some solar prominences suddenly break open and eject particles into the Solar System, setting up a space weather sequence that can affect the skies and wires of Earth.

Welcome back to the Plant Rant
★《2》★
How y'all doin today? Good? GREAT! Today we're starting on my list of "fave plants".

Oooh fancy transition thingy!
┈﹒✮ ⊰ ‧ ☾ intro ☽ ‧ ⊱ ✮﹒┈
I'm no writer so bear with me here. I started this blog so comment sections and family would no longer be burdened by my ceaseless yapping about hyperfixations and special interests. So, now the people who will actually care to hear/read my nonsensical yapping and endless streams of (mostly) useless information will now be able to enjoy it.
Aight so why am I talking about hydrangeas and what's this "list of fave plants"? Well to put it simply they have a special place in my heart, and the list is just plants I care about for some reason. I used to have a pet lizard a green anole that I took in and started to care for. He was severely injured and I nursed him back to health. When I released him he stuck around and stayed in my hydrangea bush. Every few days i'd go out and water them and there he'd be taking in the sun and enjoying the water hose. When he died I buried him in his favorite hydrangea. Those hydrangeas still stand outside my house. So I reasonably love hydrangeas quite a lot. I also rather enjoy THE SCIENCE OF THEIR COLOR! (hahaha got you with the transition didn't I?)

-----------ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ--------------
Info‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.
This is my favorite part. You got my cute little heartfelt spiel now you get FACTS.
★There's over 70 species of hydrangea. (Hydrangeceae=family name)
★The most common hydrangeas are mophead hydrangea/ bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) and panicle hydrangeas (Hydrangea paniculata) these are the ones renowned for their vibrant colors.
★ Hydrangeas come in a range of colors red, pink, purple, blue, green, and white being their usual colors. Popular species of hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) change color to the pH (potential of hydrogen) of their soil. 0 is the most acidic on the pH scale and 14 is the most alkaline with 7 being the most neutral. White hydrangeas are usually neutral and do not usually change their color. I'm sure you want to know the secret to messing with their color so of course I'll tell you! The pinkest flowers are the highest on scale usually a 7 on the pH scale they have little aluminum ions and adding garden lime (dolomite limestone) can help to achieve this color. I mentioned aluminum ions so you science nerds may be on to this already but hydrangeas become bluer the more aluminum ions they have. So to have your hydrangeas bluer (usually around 4.5 on the pH scale) they need more aluminum ions you can add sulfur, gypsum, and aluminum sulfate to their soil. I recommend aluminum sulfate mostly because it smells less like literal hell. Now, the ideal range for nutrients in hydrangeas is a pH of 5.5-6.5 if your hydrangeas are kinda purpley or a light pink congrats they're healthy and happy. (Oml that was too much)
★Hydrangea roots THE ROOTS PEOPLE were used to treat bladder infections, kidney stones and well... enlarged prostates. Don't come for me i'm just quoting the article. (I dont reccomend attempting to use this hydrangeas are indeed poisonous)
★And of course mal's favorite fact THE LEAVES ARE FUCKING POISONOUS! The flowers and leaves are high in cyanogenic glycosides which is exactly what it sounds like. These are found in things like almonds and some fruit pits. While all parts of the plant are poisonous little me can confirm it's not highly toxic to humans. However, if your gato or perro (cat or dog) ate a piece of a hydrangea please take them to the vet and explain the situation they can be toxic to pets. This is why I don't actually reccomend trying to become an herbalist and using hydrangeas as medicine I gurantee you have no clue what you're doing so unless you are actively attempting murder put it down.
♥︎Depending on the culture hydrangeas represent different things. In Japan they may represent apologies or sincere emotions while in England they may represent arrogance. The color of the hydrangea also comes into play here.
》i am getting fucking tired holy shit this is taking years to write
★Hydrangeas are extra little turds that need perfect everything. I have no clue how my grandma and I kept those suckers alive but according to the great google
"Hydrangeas generally prefer morning sun and afternoon shade, especially in hotter climates. Avoid prolonged exposure to intense afternoon sun, as it can scorch their leaves and flowers.
Well-drained soil is crucial.
Allow ample space for growth and air circulation between plants.
Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first two years.
Dig a hole twice as wide and just as deep as the root ball. Gently loosen the roots before placing the plant in the hole and backfilling with soil.
Plant hydrangeas in the spring after the last frost or in the fall."
Or idk fucking propogate it and see what happens. The most random things just kinda survive here so I really have no clue how I managed to grow these.
♥︎If you are a libra congrats you are associated with a hydrangea following the appreciation of balance, harmony and beauty.

Before I flippin' pass away from how long this took (About two hours of straight typing and that's not including a ton of research as well as how long it takes to type big science words with dyslexia) here's an end note. I don't know if I really have anything deep to say but if you give me a sec I can be possesed by my nigerian ancestors and I can say something all deep and wisdomy.

Hydrangeas are versatile as well as particular. In a way it's similar to a human. We adapt and change to fit our enviroment and in some cases our changes are obvious and can even make us more beautiful. Hydrangeas change based on the pH of their soil. Humans also change based on how they are raised. Choose the right soil. (Dont thank me thank the ancestors idek how i do this)

Lily of the valley⊹₊。ꕤ˚₊⊹
Yes 100% this is going to have a rant.
I find it slightly annoying that everytime a pinterest girlie posts abt loving lily of the valley it's ALWAYS the ai generated images of them. The glassy colorful looking lily of the valley not the real ones. Real lily of the valley are just as beautiful if not more. They have delicate small white flowers that look like they were designed for the coquette aesthetic. And moreover they're very interesting and have captivated humans for centuries.
So here's the info.☘︎ ́˖⊹₊。ꕤ˚₊⊹
☆Lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis) is a member of the asparagus family! Yes you read that right.
☆They are the birth flower of may and symbolize motherhood, purity and humilty.
☆ They are indeed poisonous containing cardiac glycosides. While those have been used in medicine they can be dangerous. Lily of the valley can cause skin iritation when handled and anything from vomiting and seizures to death when ingested. And every part of the plant is toxic.
☆Despite being so dangerous they've quite obviously been intriguing to humans for like forever. They tend to be picky and grow in some of the most beautiful places.
☆They're native to eurasia.
☆They grow in two colors white and light pink!
~~Argue with the wall but I think they're gorgeous and interesting. A plant that is so beautiful and delicate but so dangerous. It's like it's own little metaphor maybe a symbol. Be like lily of the valley! Beautiful but fuckin lethal! METAL! ~~

Lily of the valley are gorgeous little guys that deserve way better than ai slop. Don't tell me they aren't "cute and coquette" when they so totally are! It'd be nice to know more people who love the actual plant and not the ai generated nonsense (ppl that arent my grandma luv u grams but u have an obssesion with these). It makes me geniunely sad to hear that people didn't know they aren't these glassy ai flowers, and it makes me even sadder to know that there's actually people out there who don't think they exist outside of ai! I literally saw them being called the "Ai flower" when they're sooo much more than that. Ai is a problem in so many ways not only is it bad for the enviroment but people are so used to being tricked by it they no longer know what to believe. If you're looking for a cool glassy flower the skeleton flower is out there and it's so cool in its own way! I may make a post about them eventually. Just remind me haha! Anywaaaayyysss..

Theseeee are so much prettier than the ai nonsense

While i can admit the ai stuff is def aesthetic the real thing is just somehow more beautiful like a breath of fresh air.

Beneath Jupiter Image Credit & Copyright: NASA, Juno, SwRI, MSSS; Processing & License: Gerald Eichstädt & Seán Doran
Explanation: Jupiter is stranger than we knew. NASA’s Juno spacecraft has now completed over 70 swoops past Jupiter as it moves around its highly elliptical orbit. Pictured from 2017, Jupiter is seen from below where, surprisingly, the horizontal bands that cover most of the planet disappear into swirls and complex patterns. A line of white oval clouds is visible nearer to the equator. Impressive results from Juno show that Jupiter’s weather phenomena can extend deep below its cloud tops, that Jupiter’s center has a core that is unexpectedly large and soft, and that Jupiter’s magnetic field varies greatly with location. Although Juno is scheduled to keep orbiting Jupiter further into 2025, at some time the robotic spacecraft will be maneuvered to plunge into the giant planet.

International Space Station Crosses the Sun Image Credit & Copyright: Pau Montplet Sanz
Explanation: Typically, the International Space Station is visible only at night. Slowly drifting across the night sky as it orbits the Earth, the International Space Station (ISS) can be seen as a bright spot about once a month from many locations. The ISS is then visible only just after sunset or just before sunrise because it shines by reflected sunlight – once the ISS enters the Earth’s shadow, it will drop out of sight. The only occasion when the ISS is visible during the day is when it passes right in front of the Sun. Then, it passes so quickly that only cameras taking short exposures can visually freeze the ISS’s silhouette onto the background Sun. The featured picture did exactly that – it is actually a series of images taken a month ago from Sant Feliu de Buixalleu, Spain with perfect timing. This image series was later combined with a separate image highlighting the texture of the active Sun which included several Sun’s prominences around the edge.

The south is fun. The weather is bipolar as shit but it never is ugly. There's always something pretty or interesting to it. Of course the chaos and unpredictability of the weather can be mildly infuriating. Once you get used to it ruining your afternoon plans you can learn to look at the beauty of it. The sun is sweltering but it gives a reason to make lemonade and go to the pool. The rain is horrible but it grows the wild flowers and bluebonnets that everyone loves so much. You live here long enough you gain some sort of love hate relationship to the land. I at some point learned to take pictures of it and I guess actually appreciate the nonsense that is my states constant unpredictable weather.
I like writing about the pictures I take.
