hi i'm sorry but your post about being the racist in your own life made me question something: are you not supposed to call a headscarf a hijab? are there other terms that would actually be correct but have been trampled over by white western people?

there are multiple uhh different kinds of headscarves and modesty coverings. usually people refer to all the kinds as “hijab” kinda like a catchall, but that’s incorrect.

here’s some images. it’s just tiring to see them all called hijabs. one of them is a hijab.

goy = person who is not jewish (ex “i am a goy”)

goyim = people (plural) who are not jewish. “im” is a plural suffix in hebrew, like “s” or “es” in english. (ex “we are goyim”)

goyische / goyishe = adjective meaning not jewish (ex “i am goyische”)

goys = not a word. goyim is a word

gentile = the english word for goy. person who is not jewish. as an english word, the plural is gentiles. (ex “i am a gentile”). goyim tend to use the english word more than the hebrew version, while jews like myself tend to use the hebrew word. if you have trouble with hebrew conjugation, just stick to using gentile/gentiles, bc it’s easier for ppl unfamiliar w hebrew and means the same thing!

goy is not a slur, and this claim doesn’t even make sense, bc “people who are not jewish” is not an oppressed group. saying goy is a slur is like saying gringo is a slur.

hope this leads to less people saying stuff like “i’m goyim”

Hey guys, I realised that no one is talking about Rina Sawayama not being allowed to participate in The Mercury and Brits Awards. Both of these award shows require artists to have a british citzenship to be eligible for nominations. However, many artists like Rina Sawayama were not born into countries that allow dual citizenships. If she applies for a British citizenship, she must give up her Japanese citizenship. This is something that American and European immigrants will never have to suffer from. This rule restricts immigrants from participating in these award shows. So many of us are asking these awards shows to remove their citizenship requirement and/or give Rina Sawayama a pass on this requirement (she has lived in england for over 25 years).
