Mason’s finally caught wind that Madison has finally settled down in the city. She could be frustrating as Hell, but spending four years in a truck and through over half of the country with Madison turned out to be a pretty good way to spend the time. There were endless stories that came out of her and Jake listened to all of them. He liked them. He liked her. He had never spent that much time with a girl before and…well. He was actually pretty sure that he felt something for his road-trip companion. Maybe that was why he kept turning away from their destination of Lima, Ohio. Maybe he didn’t want the trip to end. But the fact was that it had to sometime and even if he wanted to he couldn’t tell her what he was feeling. It might ruin the best friendship that he ever had. And it’s not even like she would notice if he stared at her with lover-boy eyes, anyway, since he spent a lot of his trip flirting with girls that he met along the way. She never seemed to mind and was actually kind of a great wing-woman and that just proved that that’s all that she saw them as – friends. It was when she told him about a crush that she had on this girl that they met at the Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum that he knew he had to figure out the next part of his life. He couldn’t get comfortable with life on the road with Madison McCarthy.

Eventually the two of them made it to Lima and tracked down from rumors that his brother was working at the Piggly Wiggly. Thanks to their time on the road, Jake knew just how to fake it so that he could fix up his identity a little bit. All of his credit and resources were real, but the last name had to go. He and Madison were signed on to work by the assistant manager, Kurt Hummel, and he was sent to figure out the fuel station while Madison had to wait. She busied herself with figuring out an apartment situation while he started on figuring out whether or not their journey was worth it with this Noah Puckerman guy. But every time he looked at Madison he knew that…maybe it would be worth it no matter what.

Ever since she started working at the Piggly Wiggly things just seem a little brighter. She knows that she’s working from borrowed time and that it won’t make her happy forever, but she loves her co-workers and Finn stops by for coffee sometimes or a donut and Noah Puckerman, the supermarket bad boy and resident check-out bagger…well he stops by, too. And sure, maybe he takes the cake (literally and figuratively) in taking advantage of Rachel’s employee discount, but that’s okay. Maybe it’s just because of the confidence that Rachel wish she could still find in herself that draws her to the man who seems to be without a plan, but maybe that’s something good after all. Maybe just maybe it’s something new.

Unfortunately, the bright future was a little dull by the fact that Sebastian hadn’t planned on the working part of all of it. Being up for the 9-5 was a drag and the fact of the matter was that he wasn’t even sure what kind of lawyer he wanted to be. Eventually he ended up joining a company that traveled around the country to do a case-by-case project. It was basically Doctors Without Borders, but better looking and less smelly. Somehow their first case was working with the IRS to focus on tax evasion culprits. Sebastian kind of liked it. He got to embarrass people for being idiots and got paid pretty well for it himself. Lima, Ohio was his fifth city in the Midwest that he was assigned to – more specifically, the Piggly Wiggly. He was told to be there by the end of October. The sooner he gets there and destroys a stupid pig store in a stupid pig town, the better. If only he didn’t have to…talk to them.

And that’s when it happened. It was one of those moments where a lightbulb should have been right about her head – BING! – and then it was clear. It was when she was at the salon having her annual red, white, and blue pedicure to prepare for the holiday that was in two weeks when she saw the commercial on TV. She had seen so many things and been so many places and it was time that she gave back, and what other place would be best for that than a sad grocery store that had just recently faced some sort of tragedy? Better yet – the man who had accosted them wore a MASK. He was without a face! Just like the Piggly Wiggly. She was more attractive than all of them, and that only meant one thing! She would become the new face of the Piggly Wiggly! She would be the one who could do all of their publicity and everyone would want to shop there more to see people like her. By the time they were disappointed by the people actually there they would already be knee deep in sales. It was perfect!

A week later it had been settled. Al Motta put down a hefty donation to whatever improvements that could be made to the store after the incident, double what the initial request had been from Santana Lopez’s team of accountants to ensure that his daughter would get the start treatment from the employees, and then he was off. Sugar ispositivethat she is just what the Piggly Wiggly needs to get itself up and running, judging by that commercial, and she has no problem with making her voice heard among everyone else – even the owner. Everyone loves investors, and everyone loves a Sugar Motta.

Things are easier now that his little baby girl is almost six years old. She’s starting school, though, and that means that he has to start thinking about a real job. Maybe that’s what made him ask to be moved from the meat department of the Piggly Wiggly. Maybe if he can get a cashier job and actually show that weird initiative thing that people are always talking about then maybe he can even break it to manager. Usually he’d scoff at the hard work, but it’s a lot easier to do when it’s a real family depending on him, even if that means sucking up to boss man, Finn Hudson, who seems like too nice of a guy. Besides, now he has the help from a beautiful little girl who has his eyes and sometimes even gets free treats from the super hot Berry Crocker (Rachel Berry) at the bakery. But if there’s one thing that Puck knows, especially with his goals, it’s to stay away from the girls at work. …Hopefully.

Somehow she found herself crossing over to Ohio and landing in the town of Lima and right into the waiting arms of the Piggly Wiggly…kind of. It was actually similar to the story that she met a few employees while she was apartment hunting and they mentioned that there were open positions.

It was dull, that was for sure. The only bright spot had been when she began a sordid love affair with the man who chopped meat for a living, Robert. Everyone else liked to call him Deli Bob. He wasn’t anything like her first love (or second, or that matter), but he showered her with attention whenever she made a drop off in his area and that was enough for her. It was some sort of whirlwind romance until Finn Hudson had to come in and ruin it all. She was tired of people ripping away her happiness for their own gain – first Ivy League, then a pre-husband, and now Finn Hudson deciding to finally be a manager who cared? Who the Hell did he think he was? For weeks she plotted some sort of revenge, starting with the way that she knew he looked at Kitty Wilde (that homewrecking tart), but then he quit before she could do anything. What the Hell? And now they’re getting a new manager? Without asking her to do it? What was this place coming to?!

So, Ryder cut his hair and shaved his face. He quit smoking (a bad social habit that wasn’t even a habit at all) and only drank on occasion. He tore up his lease and sent that money where it belonged in the first place – back to school. Then he was set to return the following Spring semester. He took a year off, but it was a year that he needed. He needed to remind himself of the silver lining – of what could be made out of a crappy situation. Of what he, himself, could be made into. In the end he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Communications. He specialized in personnel relations, and was determined to make sure that he could brighten up lives, just like his mom. The summer after his graduation he was pretty sure that he would have to look around for a little while before a job would pop up, but then he saw the news about the first Midwest Piggly Wiggly and an incident from September 3rd. Maybe just maybe he had a shot there? They definitely sounded like they could use the help. How lucky for him that as soon as he arrived on the scene was when Santana Lopez was on the search for a new location Manager. It just seemed like too much fate for even him to handle. Maybe there was a silver lining after all?

Then she and Jake were off. For four years they went state to state, picking out different places to stay and getting short leases on crappy apartments. She was the brains and he was the protector. He knew the streets, even if he had never been there before, and she knew just what they had to do to find the means to survive with the little bit they they made on the way. Jake had become her best friend over the years – even closer than Mason had been. She told him about how she almost dated the captain of the football team before Mason talked her out of it, but also had a crush on a girl over choir camp one time. About how she wanted an audience to see her. About that night that she had destroyed her past life – all of it over four years. Every time they got closer to Ohio she would wait for Jake’s cue on if he was ready, but each time he would turn down a different highway. One day they were coming North from Tennessee after seeing a Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum when he kept on going instead of heading East to Maine like they had planned. They were going to Ohio. They were doing it.

And that’s how the two of them found themselves in Lima, Ohio – signing up to work at the Piggly Wiggly. She knew that Jake was signing up with a fake name, but they had perfected that art long ago. Everything else was real, but she knew that he wanted to meet his brother and sister on his own terms. Her first day is coming up, though, and Jake is already set up at the fuel station. All she can hope is that maybe through their journey for him she could find her destination, too. Maybe.

So somehow Sam went from being a moving truck driver to being a worker for the Piggly Wiggly supermarket, courtesy of Assistant Manager Kurt Hummel. His job? Box boy. Yeah…that’s where he ended up. But that’s okay, because it gave him some downtime to look for other things and to work on this idea that he has for a comic book. It’s not really something he shares with people, but Marley always told him that he had a gift with ink and – oh! Marley. I forgot to mention the part where out of nowhere Marley was there! Sam was positive that she was a mirage when she walked through the doors on his first day, especially when she didn’t even look like she was shopping, but a quick conversation with Kurt had told him that she had been working there since she graduated from university with a degree in biochemical science. She was working with medicine. Not in the way she wanted, but she was making her dream come true.

So yeah, maybe working there had that benefit, too. Even if she hadn’t spoken to him still. …Yep.

What Blaine wasn’t expecting was for it to go on for a few years, enough to where he had moved on from the waiting job he had to applying at the Piggly Wiggly. What Blaine also wasn’t expecting was to be interviewed by none other than Kurt Hummel when he applied for the position of a people greeter, but sure enough that’s just how fate seemed to work out. He was able to take off the bookmark in favor of sending just a friend request (despite the fact that his first impression of his new Assistant Manager wasn’t a very good one), but he knows it’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out in one way or another and Blaine isn’t too sure how he wants the chips to fall.

So Finn left the tire shop and applied with Rachel to the Piggly Wiggly. Turns out Finn Hudson was pretty good at the whole supermarket chain store thing and seven years later he was made into the Manager. Who would have thought? He had a plan. He was going to manage the Piggly Wiggly. Quinn was actually pretty supportive, even though her own career didn’t seem to be taking off the way she wanted it to. Sometimes they fought about things and sometimes he slept on the couch of the house that her parents had bought them, but they were going to make it. Finn was positive about that. So positive about it that he proposed to her a year before and she had said yes. No date was set, or anything, but…they were getting there.

The thing about Finn Hudson was that now he had a plan. He was friends with all of his employees and his fiancee was slowly making her dreams come true. His own boss liked to give him a hard time every now and then, but Santana wasn’t so bad. Everything was going great…until Kitty Wilde was hired. Until he caught himself staring at the new cashier a little too much every now and then. Until Quinn started to notice that Finn was taking different shifts. Until he kissed Kitty Wilde at the Piggly Wiggly Christmas party and the two haven’t talked about it since. Okay…so maybe he doesn’t have a plan after all.
