The Watching Flesh is a creature i made that exists in a world that is an alternate reality to ours (so same Earth, contentents, etc. just changes I made for the Watching Flesh). It is a Monster that is spread through infection. It is a semiconscious black substance, that's a mixture between a web-like substance and oobleck. The substance is only permanently vulnerable to extreme heat.

STEPS: There are roughly 5 steps for a person infected to becoming one of The Watching Flesh.

The Watching Flesh is spread through direct contect with the substance. This can be through brushing it on a wall or on the ground or by being touched by one of The Watching Flesh. The infection is absorbed by the infected's body and gradually spreads across the infecteds internal organ system until the inside of the body is fully coated with the infection.

As the infection is spreads, the infected's body will try and fight it and kill it. This causes the victim to get very sick. Symptoms of this include:

severe vomiting of large quantities of blood

uncontrollable shaking

night terrors

severe full body pain

weakened muscles

clammy skin

severe itching/victim is scratching at the skin aggressively

disorientation

The Infected, depending on what era they live in will be taken in by doctors or by a special cult devoted to The Watching Flesh (that's not something that i'm going to expand on because it hasn't been fully figured out and it isn't improtant for the purpose of this). Occasionally victims will be left alone but that's rare and you don't need to worry about that yet.

The Infection eventually kills the victim. Depending on where they were taken when they got sick their body will be handled differently. Burial directly in the ground makes the process go faster. **Cremation is the only thing that will completely stop this process and destroy the substance that has fully infected the victim at this point. If there is any remainders of the infection it will infect another person.** The victim will experience Death as an inbetween world but the infection still tethers the victim to the living world. The victim will then return from the dead after a varied period of tim depending on how the body is dealt with. After revival the no-longer considered human victim experiences amnesia from being infected up until their reawakening. Eventually this amnesia will clear up.

The victim, now being held alive only by the infection, will begin to hunger for human flesh and blood. They can choose to give into the hunger or resist it. Eventually, whether willingly or through force of the infection or something else, they will consume it.

After feeding on human flesh the victim will begin to painfully change physically into one of The Watching Flesh.

PHYSICAL TRAITS:

These are all of the changes most of The Watch Flesh will experience and some other traits.

The most prominent trait are the eyes. The irises of the watching flesh are white with red sclera. First, the victim's main eyes will be replaced by the originals rotting out of their skull and new ones growing in their place shortly after. They will also experience extra eyes grow under their skin, until the skin tears around it forming a socket in the muscle. If the eyes are removed the socket will close and scar over, but new ones will continue to grow.

Extra limbs will grow on the monster's body as the infection sees fit (if it provides help for hunting). The new limb grows: Bone --> muscle + tendons--> infection substance in place of skin.

The jaw becomes unattached from the rest of the skull, held together by strings of the infection. All of the monster's original teeth fall out and are replaced with sharper ones.

The hands of the watching flesh are thin fingered with skin stretched out over bones. The nails will sharpen into claws,

If a limb of any kind is amputated then it will regrow similar to how extra limbs grow. This applies to any limb. The infection usually has some idea of how its host's body works but sometimes multiple jointed limbs will occur.

There are two more points that are: The Watching Flesh can and does infect other animals (mostly mammals) and an extra form for the monsters. Neither is currently important to the purpouses of this post (Artfight). All of this information and more will be reposted once the whole lore for this world is complete. Or it will be shared in the form of a story i'm working on whichever i decide :) All art done by me :) enjoy this for the next three weeks before i delete it :3 DONT STEAL MY ART!!!! OR ELSE!!!

Story time!

I recklessly made a playlist with every Greek Mythology musical i was aware of (Epic, Hadestown, Ulysses Dies at Dawn, The Lightning Thief, and Aristos) in it (my first mistake). And then i put it on shuffle (my second mistake).

This resulted in, at around 11 pm (my third mistake) a few nights ago, legitimately sobbing over an Aristos song (Farewell) and then experiencing the worst emotional whiplash two minute later when a song from the Lightning Thief Musical (In The Same Boat) came on.

This happened another time the same night (with a slightly less sad Aristos song) while i was drawing the above “doodle” for shits and giggles

I am Moth! Here is where you will (hopefully) find various stories and art about two of my characters, Francis and Atlas, who are a queer couple deeply in love. There will be various short stories about them in a many AUs as i can achieve and the occasional cute fact about them.

The majority of the stories and art on here is going to be romantic fluff with possibly the occasional angst.

A warning: eventually, there will be one final incredibly tragic horror story about them, that’s connected to one of my other works in progress’s.

It wont not necessary to read it at all, so feel free to skip it :]
