Agreed; though, personally, I’d settle for “if people with breasts need bras, then people with penises need to tuck,” especially because people who have both are already expected to do both.
do actors get boners while making sex scenes this is one of the things i’ve wondered my whole life

Keep in mind that, as sessile (non-moving) organisms with body parts both above and below ground, plants develop tissue with a system based tremendously on external environmental factors. Every cell of a plant (like any other organism) has the DNA, and thus the genes, to develop into any needed part of a plant. Which genes get transcribed (and thus, what kind of job every cell has) is determined in a very large way by what kind of environmental stimuli are present. There is a huge difference between the chemical information available to a cell underground (dirt, no light, minerals, water, bacteria) and a cell at the end of a branch (not supporting weight, air, light, less water), and those differences impact what kind of proteins the cell makes, which impacts the job it will do. Animals tend to hyperspecialize their cells in accordance with an /internal/ environment, which allows them to maintain structural and functional integrity while being motile (moving) and having their entire body be in the same environment at once. Evolution has also demonstrated that for animals, there is an ideal size range, which means our growth and development of new cells eventually slows down significantly. Plants which can survive the winter (especially trees) either don’t exactly have that limitation - they just keep growing all the time - or it takes them so much longer to reach the ideal size range that anything a human does to them is likely still during the growth and development period. Trees are awesome.

Circus Tree: Six individual sycamore trees were shaped, bent, and braided to form this.

My thoughts exactly, tbh. I was thrilled at the lineup, at least from an aesthetics standpoint (though seconded that the cut-a-bitch realness seems over stereotyped)
I haven’t had much to say about the Ghostbusters reboot other than I love the costuming and I’m going to see it twice.
I have to say what’s in my black fat girl feelings right now.
I’m a little surprised that throughout all the discussions about the reboot and the sexism that no-one has spotlighted how the entertainment industry’s beauty standards and the male gaze plays into the Ghostbusters reboot mess?
They’re not only mad because it’s women. They’re mad about not being able to jerk it to The New Ghostbusters lineup. They’re mad because their expectations of getting at least one hypersexualized, female protagonist wasn’t met– not even one sexy secretary. That’s rough, buddy.
Let’s be oh so real here: if it were Megan Fox, Zooey Deschanel, Cameron Diaz, and Jennifer Lawrence in the Ghostbusters reboot, we wouldn’t be having as much of a problem. McCarthy, Wiig, Jones and McKinnon in this movie are not funny-hot, like Cameron Diaz dorky dancing in a pair of underoos in Charlie’s Angels. They’re just funny and serving you soft-butch, wild-butch, nerd-chic and (albeit a little too stereotypical) cut-a-bitch realness and it’s a problem for these assholes.
This Ghostbusters reaction falls into the same category as men who treat women poorly simply because they don’t find them attractive/fuckable/worth their time.

Trans guy needs a couch in Long Island
#NeedACouch in Suffolk County, Long Island. Seeker is 20, trans guy, has a cat, and smokes. Needs a place to stay for a few months, probably; is about to be evicted from foster parent home, and foster parents have given up on their responsibilities to him. Needs time to find a roommate and a studio apartment as well as to get more hours secured at work. Is responsible, has a job, almost has his HS diploma (will in 2 weeks or so). Any leads, please hit me up. If you have a couch somewhere else in Long Island (preferably a little cheaper), please hit me up anyway; he might be able to relocate depending on the flexibility of his job. Original poster is TransitionMadness. I don’t regularly check my tumblr so if you have a lead, please just email me at [email protected]. Thanks!

Assigned Male
Assigned male is a wonderful comic written by Sophie Labelle, about a young trans girl named Stefie who is dealing with being all of those things. Stefie is delightfully precocious and combats the ignorance around her with sarcasm and high level discourse. She is also currently dating a cis boy who is Trying Very Hard. Here’s the tumblr: http://assignedmale.tumblr.com/ Now, here’s the important part: Artists need to be paid for their art or they can’t keep making it! Sophie has a goal of getting $1700/month from her patreon, and still has a good way to go. You can help by donating as little as $1/month and spreading the word either way! Here’s the patreon:
https://www.patreon.com/sophielabelle?ty=c
Please consider clicking the link and donating a bit of love! Of course, check out the comic first if you haven’t already, and feel free to share this whether you can donate or not. I’ve met Sophie in person and she is a real delight. Let’s help her reach her goals! :D

MAJOR tw - r*pe, abuse, gaslighting, dissociation, etc. etc. _ - - -
My mom died recently, as I've mentioned here, and I wanted to clarify some details about what has had me so upset and dysfunctional lately as a result.
I'm still working on recovering most of the details, but it's becoming more and more obvious with time that I (or members of my multiple system, i.e. "alters" [plz don't use that word though]) were raped - a LOT - as kids.
Like...there are so many kids in my system who only have one clear memory, and it's of realizing that our parents sold us into the hands of a maniac who was going to hurt us, terribly, profoundly, sexually, and otherwise. Almost every time they peeled off someone new from the main "stem" of our life, someone who had never even considered our parents might be dangerous before, to relive the fresh hell of that utter betrayal once more.
And all of their pain is echoing inside of us. And I am so, so, incredibly unbelievably sorry to all of my little ones....and for myself, as this happened to me in ways as well. And I am also furious at my parents for lying so efficiently, so profoundly - for being no better than the sociopaths they so regularly decried. For doing this all in the first place, yes, but then for having the gall to act like everything was normal and that there was no real excuse for our imminent distress and despair.
I'm overwhelmed and distraught and not really looking for advice, just....my gods. Have you ever hated someone so much you feel like it is going to shatter your very soul, but at the same time just been so incredibly brokenhearted at having to lose them?
PS if you could send some love for my little kids - like Jackie and Elie and probably Lorelei (though she is older) and Alex (they are definitely older but started off much younger) as well, that would be much appreciated.
This hurts so fucking much sometimes I don't know how I'll ever stand it. And then I cry and cry when I connect with it and feel a tiny bit better, but mostly I just get tired of crying.

Conversation
Me: Ice Bear is most likely autistic
WBB Fandom: man.... why does ice bear act the way he does???
Me: It's because he's probably autistic.
WBB Fandom: and as a child he never says anything!!! why??
Me: He was likely nonverbal as a kid because he has autism.
WBB Fandom: there has to be SOME reason he is so attached to the cold!
Me: Ice Bear may have sensory issues relating to his environment and the way it feels to him, because he's autistic.
WBB Fandom: why do you think he cooks and cleans so often?? :0
Me: Well, autistic people often take comfort in repetitive motion and routin-
WBB Fandom: i hope the writers solve this mystery soon.....
Me: ............
WBB Fandom: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

PREACH
People with good parents get so offended when abused children speak negatively of their parents. Like…REALLY offended lol.
They say things like “Your mom would do anything for you” and “Your parents sacrificed a lot for you!” and “I don’t respect anyone who talks down on their parents.”
But just because YOUR parents would do anything for you and sacrificed a lot for you doesn’t mean it applies to all parents. We don’t have the same experience boo. You can’t tell me shit about what my mama would do for me. All moms and dads are not created equal.

Interesting stuff.
Her Story is a new media series that looks inside the dating lives of trans & queer women as they navigate the intersections of desire & identity. The plot centers around two trans women in Los Angeles who have given up on love, when suddenly chance encounters give them hope. Violet is drawn to Allie, a reporter who approaches her for an interview, while career-driven Paige meets James, the first man she’s considered opening up to in years.
