Men and boys have been taught for so long that they are the highest form of being that they’ve become stagnate — so many are incompetent to the point where they cannot take care of themselves, so they enter into legal contracts (marriage) and sow their seeds with people they don’t even have a real connection with just to have another person feed them and clean up after them. Men will allow themselves to be denigrated and debased as long as they can maintain the status quo (being called stupid compared to women and yet they’ll agree just so they don’t have to do anything).

Men cannot form true relationships with so many, be they friends because vulnerability among men and boys is not allowed — parents, because father-son relationships often skew toward power struggles and narcissism bc men believe their sons are extensions of themselves, and mother-son relationships either have too much detachment bc of the emphasis on how different the sexes should be or have too much enmeshment bc women can see their sons as malleable substitutes for the love from a man that they’re socially groomed to covet — or among romantic partners because if we’re talking hetero relationships, men are meant to believe women aren’t their equal and therefore there’s a disconnect there bc humans don’t typically form sincere attachments with what they consider inferior to them.

It’s disturbing when you realize how much harm the patriarchy For Men By Men has caused them so much misery and left them unable to feel the full breadth of the human experience.

It’s so weird to build up a belief of what kind of fanfics you’ll probably find for a character, especially if it’s character x reader, and then when you actually look you find very little to nothing for what you thought was a given.
