I want more female characters who are just so bad at comforting others. Not for lack of trying or caring, they just get so so awkward when someone's upset, and they try to repeat things they've heard even if it doesn't necessarily apply to the situation, or they accidentally say the wrong thing and make it worse. If someone cries they panic and throw every single comfort technique down at once and it only helps because it's such bizarre behaviour

yeah, this is my pet knight, she's a rescue. i gave her a brief act of mercy and she followed me home and sat outside my door to guard me from intruders. she swore her undying allegiance to me in exchange for a gift of grace and now she sleeps at the foot of my bed and weeps when im late coming home. and yeah, she only eats wet food because she's a snob, also.

Idk if I can ask about the characters or if you've already established this info but I figured it's worth a try

If pomegranate is a vampire do they go by the classic old vampire rules/weakness (repulsed by garlic, can't touch sunlight, weak to silver, etc) or is that kind of thing different for them if anything?

it's not weird !! :] I do have this established but only in my head so I should probably write it down somewhere LOL

I didn't feel like writing a lot of the common tropes cause they're a bit inconvenient to me lol so pomegranate doesn't have most of those drawbacks however they have severe iron deficiency which essentially makes them anemic so they're sensitive to the cold but also to sun, but the garlic thing and being weak to silver is something that they consider a stereotype lol

In my specific OC non wandersong related setting where I took the same characters, "vampires" is a name for people from a region who live in high up caves where turning into a bat or other flying creature is beneficial, and they also lack a lot of the same absorption rates for iron so they all need to eat a lot of meat or drink blood in order to have the necessary amount of iron to function well.

Most of the meat pom and other vampires eat (in the oc and wandersong au versions) is actually bugs, lots and lotsa bugs!!!! that's why it's best to turn into a bat, like theoretically the vampires could use magic to turn into something else that could eat a lot of bugs (like an anteater) but most vampires just teach their young to turn into bats anyway so it's just what's easiest for them
