The End of Watashiwagorillaztrash

Hi, it’s been a while.

I’ve attempted to make several comebacks to this account, and I’ve received no shortage of love and support from the followers of this account and the general Gorillaz fandom. Even in my absence, my ask box has seen plenty of activity, with people who enjoy my writing and want to see more, and I cannot thank you all enough for the utter outpouring of love I’ve gotten over the years that this account has been active.

The Gorillaz fandom was the first place that I experienced anything like this - it was my first fandom home, where I was lucky enough to get positive interactions and even was granted with the ability to positively impact people’s lives. It’s an incredible thing, really.  Even in my long hiatuses, the love and passion from my followers here persisted.

With all of that being said, I unfortunately have to admit that, though I’ve tried time and time again to bring back my dedication to this account and give you all what you’ve been requesting, there’s a fact that I can’t dance around anymore.

I’m not a part of the Gorillaz fandom anymore.

Yes, this fandom has done a lot for me, and I’m more appreciative than my words can get across, but I’ve completely lost my interest and passion for these characters that I once had. When I come onto this account, rather than getting the feeling that I’m doing something impactful or good, it feels as though I’m looking at a list of chores I have to do. I hate that I feel this way about something that I once loved so deeply, and I’ve been trying to fight these feelings for more than two years now, but it’s all the more painful for me and the fans of this blog when I prolong its death. When I insist that some day, some how, I’ll be back and writing content for this blog like I did in 2019, I set myself up for failure and I set you all up for disappointment. 

So, with a heavy heart, I have to say that this blog will be inactive as of August 2nd, 2022. I’m terribly sorry for anyone who has sent requests in the past few months that will go unanswered, or for anyone holding onto the hope that I would return to write more frequently on this blog.

I don’t mean to self promote, but if you genuinely enjoyed my writing on this blog and would like to see more from me, feel free to check out my new imagines/headcanons/fandom blog at @tales-from-the-markcu, though it is centered around the Markiplier Cinematic Universe (lol) for anyone who might be squicked out by that. Thank you all for everything. To everyone who showed me love and support as I first joined the fandom and began the process of finding my footing as a writer, you all mean so much to me. If I could go back in time to tell the version of myself when I created this blog how far that I’ve gotten and how much I’ve grown, with much of that growth due to the lot of you, I’m certain that it would absolutely blow his mind.

Russel and s/o just being lovey dovey and mushy and kissy and cuddly and just give all the fluff please I beg

When you woke up, you were startled to see that the clock said noon. Normally, you were an early riser, but somehow you’d managed to sleep half the day away. Beside you, Russel sat awake, playing some game on his laptop.

Yawning, you nudged him lightly. “Hey.” “Hey,” Russel replied, a smile spreading on his face. “Good morning.” “It’s noon,” you mumbled, pouting. “Why didn’t you wake me up?”

Russel let out a huff of breath through his nose. He exited out of the game he was playing and closed his laptop, turning to stare at you.

“You work too damn hard,” Russel commented. “You know that?” Your brows furrowed. “How do you mean?” “I mean, you work your ass off. You came home yesterday night so tired you barely had your eyes open. Had to carry you to bed myself,” Russel explained. “You deserve the rest, baby.”

Cheeks blushing pink, you sat up and rested your head on his shoulder. Russel gave you a light kiss to the top of your head and hummed a soft little tune.

“Maybe I can stay in bed a little longer,” you mused, “if you’d like that.” “Of course I’d like that,” Russel snorted, leaning his head down to plant kisses across your face. You giggled, the slight stubble on Russel’s face tickling your skin.

That extra rest was definitely worth it - especially since it gave you a good excuse to spend some more time with your boyfriend. How could you say no to that?

If members of the band were to use a pick up line (first time meeting s/o) on their s/o, What pick up line would that be? Pick up lines can be cheesy, dirty,etc.

Murdoc:

Murdoc is no stranger to shitty pick-up lines

He’d probably hit you with something stupid like, “Well, I’m here. What are your other two wishes?”

Or something really dirty but honestly I don’t want to subject any of you to that

Noodle:

Noodle, surprisingly, isn’t much of a pick-up artist

Her lines are very simple and to the point

Like, “Hey, I think you’re cute. Want to get a drink?”

2D:

The master of cheesy/stupid pick-up lines

“Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only 10 I see” type of stuff

He even uses stupid lines when you’re already dating! He just finds them fun

Russel: 

Goes with what I’d like to call the Big Poppa Method

What is the Big Poppa method? Well, he doesn’t bother with things like asking your sign or using some cheesy line like 2D

He instead asks you what you’re interested in, if you’re at the club with anyone, things like that

What’s up!! There was a request you did awhile back of Murdoc having a kid and meeting her. I was wondering if I could ask a part 2. It’s been about 3 months of connecting with him and he wonders in to her playing her own bass pretty well and humming. He’s impressed and they just spend the day playing together and he gives her pointers. Please and thank you so much! Sorry it’s so long

Though you had only met your father, Murdoc Niccals, recently, it felt like he’d been in your life the whole time. He was always calling to check up on you when you weren’t around to visit, fussing over you when you mentioned having a partner, or trying to impress you with whatever random project he was getting into that day.

It was truly a very nice thing, having him around, and you knew he felt the same way about you. Once, even, one of his bandmates, Noodle, thanked you for entering his life. According to her, he was finally starting to better himself, and you were the catalyst.

One day, you happened to be visiting the band’s home, and you wandered into Murdoc’s room. Noticing his bass, the beautiful Flying V that Satan himself had gifted Murdoc, you couldn’t help but be drawn to it. You stepped forward and carefully lifted the bass off of the stand, carefully playing a little tune on it.Murdoc didn’t know it yet, but his legacy had inspired you to pick up bass - and you were pretty good already. Not nearly as good as someone who’d been playing as long as he had, but quite well for a beginner.

You tried to remember what you’d practiced most recently, and, with deep focus, you played the bassline for Feel Good Inc. Even before you’d met Murdoc, Feel Good Inc was a song you had enjoyed. Now it had special meaning.

“You can play?”

The words broke your focus, and your gaze shot up to your father, standing in the doorway.

“Yeah,” you said sheepishly. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to touch your bass.”“He draws people in,” Murdoc said dismissively, waving his hand. “Your posture’s all wrong, though. Here, lemme show you how it’s done.”

You smiled lightly, allowing him to take the bass from your hands and position you properly.Nobody better to get pointers from than the best, right?

Uhhh... Russel headcannons?? Either general or him in a relationship headcannons. Cause like, he needs more appreciation

(I fuckin Love writing about my boy Russel, so consider this a spiritual successor to the original Russ headcanon post (which you can find here). Hope you enjoy, cheers!)

For Russel in general, • Russel really enjoys rainy weather • He’ll make himself a coffee, tea, or cocoa and settle in for the day with a nice book • He also really loves cats! He spoils both of Noodle’s cats more than she could ever hope to • He had a cat growing up, I feel like • Russel gets nervous in cars because of his trauma As for Russel in a relationship, • He’s big on cuddles. That’s his love language. • And he’s incredibly warm, so that makes his cuddles a ton better • Also, if you have/want a kid, he’s totally down. Russel is incredible with kids and would love to have that level of a relationship with you • Not the biggest on PDA, but he’ll do small stuff like hold your hand while you’re walking somewhere or put his arm around you when you sit down at a restaurant. Stuff like that • Kisses you to steal some of your chapstick whenever you put any on

Hello out there!

Very sorry for the slow output on imagines and headcanons, my inbox is getting a little backed up, but I should be getting content out soon! I have a character who is on the spectrum and he does not like the Tranz video and was angry after the band did not perform for 2 years. Could you please help me create a Gorillaz headcanon for him? As part of the headcanon, they needed to witness him crying in the dressing room and try to comfort him. In addition, my OC is the musical guest on both shows, and Noodle's husband.

Can I get Headcanons of the members dating an animal lover? Like everything from dogs and cats to lizards and snakes to even sharks and hippos

2D:

When 2D heard ‘animal lover’, he kind of expected it to just be limited to dogs and cats

Not that he minds your interests, of course! It was just a bit… more than he initially thought it would be

Sometimes he’ll bother you to give him facts about the animals you like best. He’s really cute about it, though, so you kind of have to tell him a thing or two

He has slight experience with some exotic animals, considering the fact that he used to share a house with a polar bear, crocodile, and a Murdoc, so exotic pets don’t freak him out too much

Russel:

Russel isn’t the most well versed in living animals. He’s better with making animals into taxidermy or, in some occasions, snacks

He did have a pig in the past, though, if that counts. And he loves cats!

With your love, and most likely your knowledge, of animals, you could probably help him get a good emotional support animal (for when you’re not around to support him, of course)

If you have any exotic pets, they’re fine by him… as long as they don’t touch his drums

Noodle:

Noodle has a pretty wide range of animals that she enjoys. Cats, dogs, monkeys, and more all have her interest

In fact, when she heard you were an animal lover, she quickly went off on a tangent about past pets of hers

The two of you have looked into getting a monkey, since she really missed her pet, Mike

Noodle’s a pretty supportive girlfriend in general, though, so she’s pretty hype about any interests or ideas you have

Murdoc:

Murdoc is, by all standards, a bird guy. He doesn’t get along with animals, necessarily, but he absolutely loves birds

Pretty much any sort of corvidae have his heart, but he likes ravens the best. He’s had many forms of Cortez throughout his life

You could probably broaden his horizons a bit! He’s pretty adventurous, especially with a little pushing and prodding

Hellooooo? Is anyone there?

That title might be a bit cheesy, but I felt like it was suitable.

So, basically, a friend allowed me to infodump about Gorillaz to them recently, and I’m (kinda?) integrating myself back into the fandom. And that includes back into the Gorillaz writing community, because, in all honesty, I really miss this place. I know my schedule, or lack thereof, is completely horrendous, but writing about the band is fun! 

I’ve left and returned about a million times, and I can’t really count on myself to remember to check on this place, but keep an eye out for some posts from this blog. Sorry for my many absences - my interests are wild and sometimes I have no time or will to write at all.

Essentially, I used to have a system in which people could send in brief descriptions of themselves and I would say which member of Gorillaz I would ship them with. I won’t be doing that anymore. All of the rules for headcanons and imagines remain the same, though.

Also, I apologise if this is disappointing, but any former ship requests will be deleted, as I learned I don’t enjoy writing them, and x reader ships will not be offered from this blog again. I prefer to write things for this blog that can apply to multiple people, no matter how niche, and x reader ships do not fit that theme. Thank you for your understanding.

You all have probably been wondering where in the hell I’ve been. (If you haven’t, that’s completely fair. I forget about this place sometimes too)

There’s a pretty simple answer to this, actually: I haven’t been all that into Gorillaz lately. Mixing that with writer’s block and executive dysfunction doesn’t make for many updates, and this blog ended up slipping my mind after my last post.

So what happens now, you might be asking? Well, the answer to that is, hopefully, I’ll be able to get back into the swing of things. Even though I’m not super big into Gorillaz, I’ve received feedback from people saying that my blog, and my work overall, makes them happy, and that’s one of my main goals with anything that I do. When I’m making people happy with the things that I do, that makes me happy, and I want to keep on doing that. I hope that I’ll be welcomed back into the writing side of this fandom despite my absence.

Thank you all for your patience, and an extra special thank you to all of the people who stuck with this blog despite my radio silence. I’ll hopefully be back to writing for you all very soon!
