As an older sibling, the concept of siblings having to save each other in my favorite media hits me in the gut somtimes.
Dipper sacrificed a lot for Mabel and when Bill mockingly asks her "who would give up something just for their dumb sibling" she immediately jumps into saving-her-brother-mode. Dipper literally fights his way through Armageddon (but weird) to save his sister.
Sans drives Papyrus crazy, but the moment you kill his brother he makes it his entire goal to make your life more difficult over and over again. He's seen his brother die in a million different timelines, but he refuses to let Papyrus worry.
Sidon adored his sister Mipha, and still looks up to her one hundred years after her passing. He wasn't old enough to have the chance to save her.
Greg looks up to Wirt and Wirt pretends to not care, but he does. Greg just wants to make Wirt happy, which ends up hurting him. Finally Wirt learns how to be brave to save his brother because he would do anything to save him.

buford from phineas and ferb would probably be really open to exploring his sexuality and identity but in ways that only makes sense to him and confuse the hell out of everybody else

You're so correct, I should do that
Drawing toxic yaoi and watching the Muppets has got to be the best summer activity. Screw beach trips, let me draw men kissing all bloody and having rainbow connection play in background

Somehow every time I thought this post couldn't get more insane, it did. Also, doesn't Perry canonically have bowling nights with Heinz and Monogram??
the dynamic between heinz doofenschmirtz and perry the platypus would probably come off as v romantic and gay if they were two people in a similar age range rather than a dude and a platypus. no i dont ship them but think about it. villainous monologues are already a very romantic and gay thing in itself (don’t question me on this you know im right). listening to somebody ramble excitedly about something they’re proud of is even more romantic and cute af. also doofensmirtz is already gay anyway. the only thing preventing this from becoming Peak Gay is the fact that perry is strictly professional and also a platypus. thanks for coming to my ted talk

The real reason why Perry wasn’t chipped
Veterinarian: “Oh, I almost forgot, it's free chipping today. Would you like to have him chipped?”
Phineas: “Nah, he's a platypus. They don't do much.”
My gut reaction when I watched “A Chip to the Vet” was that this was a lame excuse because Phineas and Ferb know that Perry disappears every day! But of course an excuse had to be made since O.W.C.A. can’t have Perry tracked by the vet because O.W.C.A. are already tracking him
Anyways, I realized it’s not what Phineas says but what he means! Phineas SAYS Perry doesn’t need to be chipped because he doesn’t do much but what he actually MEANS is that he and Ferb trust Perry to the point they don’t need to get him chipped
They know that Perry will always reappear when he disappears! “Hey, where’s Perry?” isn’t said with panic and “Oh, there you are Perry!” is said casually, which is part of their daily routine
Tumblr media
On some occasions, they wish he would’ve stayed to have fun with them but ultimately they have complete trust in Perry to come home (he’s like an outdoor cat)
Also the boys never think that Perry is “mindless” because even in pet mode Perry’s not just pretending to be their family pet (Rewatch AT2D if you don’t believe thissss)
Tumblr media
At the end of the “Backyard Aquarium” episode the boys briefly talk about setting something free if you love it🥺
Ferb: “Well, you know what they say. If you love something, set it free.”
Phineas: “Yeah, we do it every day with Perry!”
The full saying is “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it’s yours. If it doesn’t, it never was.”
Tumblr media
And in “No More Bunny Business” Phineas and Ferb aren’t concerned to see their pet platypus suddenly appear on the chimney and trust him to get himself down
Bit off topic but why did Linda leave her sons at the vet without her? She didn’t even offer a reason as to where she went (we all know the real reason was that so she wouldn’t see the pet wash)

Note
"gravity falls is canon in pnf" as like they share the same universe or that the show gravity falls exists within the universe of pnf

Candace is genuinely one of my favorite teenage girl characters of all time.
In general, seeing a teenage girl in media that isn't immediately ripped to shreds by either the media they're in, or the fanbase around it is incredibly rare. I love that she can be a weird and awkward and neurotic teenager!! She feels relatable and funny without falling into the horrific secondhand embarrassment trap that is so uncomfortably common for teenage characters. And her friendship with Stacy brings me so so much joy because they're literally just best friends with no weird rivalries or conditions that plague the way people write relationships between teenage girls.
She's allowed to like shopping, she's allowed to be boy crazy, and she can also occasionally be feral. She's constantly on the phone with her best friend gossiping, and she believes that a mysterious force steals away her brothers' inventions, but she's also a one-woman army when it comes to busting her brothers.
Speaking of her brothers!! She wants to bust them but she obviously loves them more than anything. The audience is never made to feel like she hates her brothers, that's not the point. That's not what it's about. She just has to bust them. It's literally just what you do as a sibling. It's like a force of nature.
TL;DR- Phineas and Ferb remembers what it's like to have a ton of free time in the summer while constantly around your siblings and Candace is an icon.

Yes, 100%!! Their arcs aren't super in your face; you have to pay attention to catch them, which is part of what makes them so rewarding.
Even looking at the character differences between the two movies there's a subtle shift. All the kids are still very much them, but they've matured a little bit. They've seen more and experienced more. And their growth isn't segmented or linear, making it feel so much more organic.
I'm sure this has been said a million times before, but one of the most brilliant things about Phineas and Ferb is its subversion of tropes, specifically around antagonistic characters.
My favorite example is Buford. He's supposed to be your Biff of the group. He's a bully, he's rude, he can be obstinate at the best of times. But what he lacks in conventional social grace and stereotypical intelligence, he makes up for in philosophy knowledge?? And just general out-of-pocket wisdom. Which makes him such an interesting and compelling character! You (the viewer) are also never made to feel like he doesn't belong in the group. He doesn't feel out of place, he belongs with his friends, and they all clearly value him and care about him.
Candace is also a great example. She's a melodramatic teenage girl constantly being unintentionally gaslit by the narrative, but she's never made out to be a villain. We're encouraged to root for her as much as we root for her brothers. She's antagonistic, absolutely, but if you're an older sibling then there's a solid chance you understand where she's coming from. Also, for almost every one of her faults or mistakes, she almost always makes up for it.
I could actually go on forever about my love of Doofenshmirtz. He's been through horrible things, but all he wants to do is take over the tri-state area. And it's not even his main priority. He isn't above kidnapping Major Monogram, but he'll return shopping carts because he isn't a monster. He doesn't understand his daughter, but he'd do anything for her. He still has beef with his childhood bully, but he has an amicable relationship with his ex-wife. Doofenshmirtz could've been made out to be a run-of-the-mill moronic and cruel villain, but he isn't. He's multifaceted, and, once again, you want to root for him despite his antagonism.
