I feel like if Hanahaki disease was real in the House MD universe there’d be a whole episode about them treating a patient with it and they like lie or some shit about not telling so and so about their love or like the person they love is dead or something and so they try to cure them another way and the whole time House is like being a dick as always and making fun of them for it and like haha you won’t tell them you love them loser and then at the end of the episode the person the patient loves comes in at the last minute when the patient is on the brink of death and they confess and so the patient lives and gets a happy ending but then Wilson talks to House and says something like “the lengths people would go to to avoid rejection” and House would respond like “yeah these idiots would risk their lives just to not get their stupid feelings hurt” and then Wilson leaves and literally right after he’s gone House coughs up a few petals and barely reacts and just throws them into the trash or a fireplace or something and walks out into the hallway and the episode ends and it’s literally never brought up again

I've made a post about all my favorite ship tropes, and they're all well and good, but you wanna know my favorite trope of all?

Characters who are soulmates in every sense of the term.

They're the two closest characters in their media. They know each other better than they know themselves. Their chemistry with each other is unmatched to any other character.

It doesn't matter what their relationship is. Romantic partners, siblings, parent and child, and hell, even owner and pet.

Their relationship status doesn't really matter. What matters is their dynamic. What matters is who they are to each other and how they act with this character compared to others.

It especially works if they canonically have a long history prior to the main story. This can be anything. Like I said, relationship doesn't matter.

They don't have to be soulmates because they're romantic partners. People forget that. The very core of soulmates is to have another half. Someone who completes you, romantically or platonically.

The very core of their relationship is love. Any kind of love. Even if they're rivals, and the "love" is just love for the rivalry. A relationship that goes beyond bounds.

If they are romantic, then I especially love it if they're not explicitly romantic together. Homoerotic, in a sense. They have moments of intimacy and vulnerability that could only be described as romance, and yet not quite there, either. They can cuddle, kiss, or even fuck, but it still wouldn't quite be romance. Desire, maybe, but not true romance.

Even if they have romantic partners, they'll be each other true other half. Yin and yang, night and day, life and death, you name it.

And they can lose anyone in the world but that one person. Because at least if they lose anybody else, they have that one person by their side. But if they lose that one person, then they don't have anyone. They don't have anyone who could truly understand them the way that person used to. They lose a lot of sense of identity because who are they without their other half?

I'm going through my tumblr again and yeah the song Dial Tone really does remind me of a complicated relationship I have a friend but really my biggest form of this is reading.

There's so many books and fanfictions i want to read, but due to my constant need for stimulation i just can't bring myself to sit down and read.

It was also used as a punishment for me as a kid, and it doesn't help that I don't really feel anything when I'm reading. I just can't visualize it in my head. It makes it hard for me to actually connect with the characters and their stories

"i'm not triggered or upset by or even ideologically opposed to it, i just associate it with something so bad that i can't enjoy it anymore" is such a frustrating relationship to have with a piece of media
