Living in Stages
The consciousness of different lives,
          fills the voids of time.
Each of us, living in moments of similar taste.
Celebrating achievements, crying for our troubles,
We float through the stages of life,
Eventually ending at the final door.
I am positioned at this stage of life, of youth and raw love.
I am reminded that the older couple across from me was once at this stage.
They have lived out the future that I may have myself.
The arguments, the children raised, the parties…
And now their life is winding to a close.
Is it scary to think about the mortality of life?
         The fragility of our being?
Or are we most scared about how we are going to live?
These stages of life stretch far beyond only our species,
A baby bird of the Spring’s nest will grow up all too similar.
It’s possible that they share the same fears about living.
Will I make it? Am I making this finite life count?
Do I have enough to show for the years already past?
Will it hurt to become old? Will I fall apart? Will my mind fall apart?
Maybe the most important question is:
    Who will I be then?

Some of our followers have expressed an interest in us posting more about Philosophy.
We appreciate the interest, and invite everyone to participate in this discussion. Whether you agree with us or disagree with us, feel free to comment or re-blog with your thoughts, to continue the forum, and we may all reach the truth eventually.
Today’s philosphical topic is on Transcendance, and Free Will.
Many of us spend much of our time in the past, rather than the future.
With thoughts arising such as.. Why did I do that? Why do things like that always happen to me?
But if the universe were re-wound, and we were all composed of the exact same atoms, born into the exact same nature, and nurtured in the exact same way, we would have done the exact same thing.
Who are we to question a boundless universe?
But question we must. For many answers exist.
Though with that in mind, we must understand- concepts such as Shame and Pride are futile.
Many CEO’s of large company’s make between 80 times what their employees make up to 260 times what their employees make.
What kind of ego is easily able to justify that the work they complete in one (usually shorter than their workers) day is worth equally as much as 80-260 of their employees?
It’s simple! They often got the privledge of being born into a very wealthy family to begin with, so resources were always common and with that enlists a set of nurture factors. They likely went to a high-tuition university and nurture factors enlisted there. They likely make the major decisions of the company, and are under the illusion that nobody could make these decisions nearly as well as they could. There could even be a couple codes in the genome that evoke a nature factor.
Let’s not lose focus here. We know that not all wealthy CEO’s had it easy, and there are exceptions. But people like this exist in every kind of job, and it is a very common case we see in our society.
Regardless, factors line up. Especially considering many of the fortune 500 CEO’s at the moment didn’t even start their own business, they inherited the business.
The life of a startup CEO is often much more challenging, and requires much more understanding and dedication. But that is a topic for another day.
Think about it all objectively: why wouldn’t an individual born into that family, nurtured their entire life for that purpose, who inherited the business from their family, be able to run that business?
These types of people often walk around with massive amounts of Pride, but are they truly that special? Couldn’t almost anyone born into that much opportunity do the job?
All conscious animals have a degree of free will; a degree of control over reality and events in existence. But our control, our range on this axis of life, is much more limited than we may imagine.
Let’s explore.. Shame for example.
Many people suffer from severe depression or PTSD. Many were born into broken families, born into war-torn countries, were emotionally or physically abused, or had no direction in their life of which to go other than advertisements.
These are types of people that also exist everywhere, it is getting more and more common.
They often feel shame for actions that they perform, wishing they could have done it better, often times angry at themselves for not doing better.
But they have basically no opportunity. All of that opportunity has been taken from them, and given to someone else.
This is the reality they were born into, and many other types of people born into that very same reality, would suffer from the very same conditions, and would perform the very same actions through time.
As we Transcend, we realize through logic, objectively; Neither Pride nor Shame are within reason.
There is barely even a self to be prideful of, motions of which world were much set in place.
There is barely even a self to be shameful of, of which blame can be traced back infinitely for generations without justice ever being achieved.
There really is no “I”, there is no “you”, there is no “they”, and there is no “them.” There are only forms and compositions of consciousness around us.
We have 300 Billion Neurons- if you remove X group you get a corresponding X(a) disease; if you remove Y group you get a corresponding Y(b) disease.
Which one of the groups of neurons is you? How many have to be removed before you are no longer you? and from which specific groups?
It may be no coincidence that in this Universe, you often have to sacrifice something to attain something great.
Feel free to discuss your thoughts :)

Hello all, there has been a lot going on the past few months. So much so, that the very thing that connects me to tumblr was not up and running. I am looking forward to a time in which I can be as active as I once was. I really loved finding artists on deiviantart to share with you all and I miss typing up philosophy.
My life has changed in many directions, I feel slightly more focused as I come into this new chapter. I am collecting more experiences to write poetry from, of which I wish to share.
Thank you for being patient, it should be rewarded in good time.

Why be afraid to die if we are never promised life to begin with.
We are given life, and we must decide what to do with it.
More time has passed in the universe without us in it, so why?
Why are we afraid to die, when we don’t even know what’s on the other side.
Our cells aggravated in this spot, bringing us to life.
So is death simply the dissolution of such cells?
The severing of our metaphysical energy from being tied to the physical realm,
Through the constraints of a mortal body.
Why are we afraid to die, when our life is only but a blink of the eye.
If we fear such things, maybe it is from our wasted lives.
Adorned with the regrets of all the things we wanted, but could not reach.
Longing for all the things we passed by when the opportunity appeared.
If we fear our death, when didn’t we cherish our life?

Psychiatric and Illicit Drugs
I put myself through therapy, and part of that therapy included using controlled doses of illicit drugs such as LSD, Mushrooms, Ketamine, DMT, MDMA, and 4-ACO-DMT.
But I find that sometimes when I try to discuss my therapy to others, I can sometimes be quickly condemned. I never followed the “typical” route for mental illness. I never went to a therapist, I didn’t get prescribed anti-depressants or anti-psychotics. Instead, I identified my own problems and came up with my own solutions. I did my own research, and it particularly through my research that I decided I would be better off staying away from psychiatric drugs. I don’t personally like the idea of a drug I take every day just to “be okay”. To me, that sounded like it was just going to mask the problem, to put a band-aid over the symptoms. Not to mention some of them are down-right mind-numbing.
Many people say that schizophrenics should never take LSD. For me..LSD corrects my brain. Would I stupidly blast my brain with 1mg of LSD(~10-12 doses)? No, I’m going to take a dose appropriate for my size and my experience and what I want to accomplish.
Why did I choose psychedelics? Well, like I said, I did a lot of research. About schizophrenia and the biological mechanisms of psychedelics. There is a theory for schizophrenia, particularly late-adolescence schizophrenia, that the brain goes through an excess of synaptic pruning. Meaning it cuts more brain connections (including potentially important ones) then it needed to. Another aspect of schizophrenia is trauma and dealing with past trauma.
It’s hard to find research on psychedelics, even though they were being researched a lot in the past (once they were made illegal, research was made impossible by regulations). What research I did find was that there is a good chance that many of these psychedelics can increase neurogenesis and neural connections.
Would I ever say that it was the drugs that healed me? No. It was not. I healed myself, I educated myself and used drugs as a tool for my own personal therapy.
...And I am not telling anyone what they should with their own life, that’s up to them. This is what I did.

Complacency
Becoming complacent in the face of problems might throw a stick into the human ego or human superiority. Some might find it easy to become complacent, especially when the problem doesn’t directly affect the individual either in place or in time era.
However one of the more defining traits of humans is their contemplation of the future/long-term future planning and subsequently acting on that foresight. Other traits like creativity, tool-use, and communication/language aren’t completely unique to humans even if we may be advanced in these areas. This is why being complacent doesn’t fit well with the human superiority ideology. Since if one is complacent with the world today, then the future planning and foresight isn’t necessary. They will just be the people wondering how it got to that point once it is bad enough to directly effect them. In this way, complacency could be described as humans giving up on being human.  Possibly, a contributing factor is that the discussion of “what makes us human?” is not generally prevalent in society today.

Civilization
Is it a benefit? Negativity? Maybe it is both.. Civilization (it terms of cities, states, countries), has done many things for our population. However underlying problems that get ignored, over time, grow into compounded issues once the civilization progresses. I wonder where the end point of civilization is?

The College Degree is A Lie
Land of the lies, home of the slaves?
I was part of a generation that was fed my whole life about the necessity of college. Do you realize how easy it is to get the youth to believe wholeheartedly about something?  They don’t have years of experience and decision-making to influence them, they go by what many adults or peers tell them. They rely on the information to help guide them through the world and...it’s damn near an entire lie.
I was always told that college would make me successful. So...I’ve graduated with a BS in a STEM field, aaand I’m almost homeless. I want to say that I’m an anomaly, but it seems like there are tons of degree holders out there that are also struggling, or they had to settle for jobs that may not even require a degree. (They may have even had to leave out the fact they are degree-holders in order to get a job).
It doesn’t help that college is so expensive and yet it’s drilled into our brains that we need to go to college to get anywhere in life. Yet in the end there is not a big enough job market to employ the college graduates.
Well.. that sounds like god-damn money-making scheme. I don’t get mad very often, but this is one thing that pisses me off to no end. Here is an entire system built to churn out memorization slaves for the workforce that doesn’t have openings. But... I don’t know what is sicker, is it that fact that many colleges just take your money and tell you to fuck off? Or is it the companies that complain how underprepared american graduates are (and how much more they would have to pay them), which points to college as not even preparing them for the workforce. What really outlines this difference is when you compare the STEM program here to similar programs from different countries. I have seen other countries include a shit ton more of practical experience and specialized bachelor’s programs. Here? You get thrown into a program that “kinda-sorta” works for what you are trying to go for and you may only be required to take 3 lab classes (it could be the only 3 lab classes the school even offers). You know how you get practical experience? Internships, which may or may not be paid. But with the way American college is, it’s really hard to be a full-time student, have a full-time job, and then also throw an internship in there (if they even exist). and so, we end up with a lot of college graduates that don’t have enough practical experience to even get “entry” level jobs, we have many companies that are too lazy to train, and too few internships to begin with. This is only the tip of the education situation in America. And I’m sick of it.

The Irony of the Human Ego
The human ego, a sore spot on the beauty that humanity could have. Looking at the entire population of humans, they way that they act collectively shows how full of themselves they are. We classify ourselves as the top animal on this planet, before we have studied other animals extensively. We take this planet as though it was given to us exclusively, destroying it for our own benefit (or slow destruction).
And yet, we ridicule our own. Touting about how humanity is the highest of apes, how great civilization and society and tool use has made us. At the very same time though, we damn our youth to idiocy, believing they could never understand what an adult understands. Maybe I see this most, being a young STEM major, too often my theories are deemed unworthy by the system, since I have yet to live my accomplishments. But does inexperience truly mean stupidity? I believe the youth could all be geniuses, but that they are simply convinced that they are stupid or that their natural curiosity is squandered. During development (which can be all the way to age 25, when the brain officially slows growth), the brain is literally set up to absorb information about the world. The natural curiosity and inexperience of a child allows them to think far more outside of the box and yet these strengths are heavily overlooked.
This is the irony of the human species. An inflated ego yet so much time is simply spent hindering the growth of fellow species members. All in all, instead of being the best species, humanity acts more like a failed species that will eventually become its own demolition.
