do you have any ideas for the food culture of each group? something like the BB au or something idk im just spitballing
like, are the kin able to get salt reliably? do they eat fresh roadkill? do they cook at all???? because cooking is super cool and important
sorry im just really excited and i have food on the brain lol
Thank you so much for the question and sorry for such a late reply!
The diets of each group have definitely been expanded in this AU as well!
Off the top of my head Shadowmire eat certain bugs (mostly seen as a small snack or an addition to a larger meal) and are also the Kin that introduced methods to naturally preserve prey and herbs. However, the Riverwhims are more popularly known for it as they adopted the methods from the Shadowmires during a notably harsh winter famine.
The Riverwhims consider duck and goose a delicacy, and the Heathermoors have a similar attitude toward grouse. They will occasionally take geese and chickens from the nearby farms as well, especially in the original territories.
The Stormgrove delicacy is hedgehog, and pre-exile the Boulderhearts would do an annual hunt for pine marten. In the loch territories, their claim to fame in the food world becomes “snack packs” and things like soups and teas, directly inspired by the kittypets in their population.
Also pre-exile, the Boulderhearts learned to cultivate their own gardens and crops, something that the Stormgroves were quick to claim as their own when the fifth Kin left the territories. It is something all the Kins do now to some degree.
Since the blacksmiths exist in Stormgrove and Kin cats can individually learn how to tame fire, cooked food is also an option, but raw is a lot more common. Herbs and spices can be used for flavor.

Some other general stuff:
ThunderClan —> The Stormgrove Kin aka “The Stormgroves”
WindClan —> The Heathermoor Kin aka “The Heathermoors”
ShadowKin —> The Shadowmire Kin aka “The Shadowmires”
RiverKin —> The Riverwhim Kin aka “The Riverwhims”
SkyKin —> The Boulderheart Kin aka “The Boulderhearts” (name subject to change?)
BloodClan —> The Blood Guild
StarClan —> The Star Kin aka “The Stars”
The Dark Forest —> The Starless Kin aka “The Starless”
- leaders get a title instead of a change in suffix; “Star” (akin to @/cryptidclaw’s rewrite)
- kits start with single word names but they too get a title as an apprentice; “Paw”
- suffixes are given based on traits, be it literal or symbolic
- each kin has its own structure and governing system
- The Stars and The Starless do not have as much power as they do in canon
- kittypets and strays have their own culture(s) separate from the kins (akin to @/blimbo-buddy’s rewrite)
- there are some wild animals that *can* communicate with the cats— there are plans to cover the complications that come with that throughout the story
- leaders getting nine lives is much more symbolic than it is in canon
- DOTC — OOTS are the only arcs that have semi-secure plans; there are things beyond that making the cut, but as of right now a good chunk of it isnt
- the Tribe does not exist and has been replaced with something else entirely
- a lot of character names have been changed
- new ranks + specialty ranks for each kin

Greetings! My name is Autumn (they/them). You may recognize me from @hickorytwist or @taxiedermist, or even the WCRP Ever Rain. I am an artist and writer who has been into Warriors for a very long time. Here is where you will find my passion project, a rewrite of the series known as “Where The Wild Cats Roam”!
The whole thing is still very much a work in progress, and I’m not sure if it will ever be “finished”, but here’s some things to expect:
- new lore, clan cultures, legends, religions, etc.
- overhauled characters and arcs, including some that are brand new
- main themes: community, culture, challenging status quo in an unjust society, and breaking the cycle— of abuse, bigotry, war, etc.
- a story that takes place entirely in the UK— from England to Wales to Scotland
- some fantasy elements inspired by Celtic mythos
- slightly more advanced cat society with interactions from other species
- influence from other Rewrite projects (that will be credited where possible!)
- potential written prose and reimagined character designs
The ask box is always open unless stated otherwise. Questions are highly encouraged! <3

🍂- Feeling the urge to infodump so I'm gonna talk about some changes made, specifically regarding what we're doing with the ancients and the tribe
The ancients are still up in the air (Fallen Leaves and Rock still exist at the loch) but the tribe has been replaced with cats in an old village in the Scottish highlands. They don't really have a name other than "the village cats" and they're made up of both wild cats and kittypets. They don't have a naming system, no rules, just living together and helping each other where they can.
Half Moon is still there and she looks like this:
[ ID: A picture of a longhaired cat that is mostly pure black, except for half of their face, which is white with grey markings. End ID ]
She's respected by the village cats for having divine knowledge, she's a little mysterious about it. Think Oracle of Delphi. Cats come to her for pretty much everything, giving her a piece of prey as payment. When Nimbus (Grey Wing) visits her over concerns about a plague spreading through the village, Half Moon reveals a recent omen. Nimbus helps her interpret it, and they come to the conclusion that cats are destined to find a new home. Nimbus doesn't really want to go but he feels he has to.
The cats go on the journey, settle in the new territories. The kins are formed, etc etc, and we don't hear of the village until TNP. The prophecy cats reach the village (Purdy leads them there) and meet Amalthea, a direct descendant of Half Moon. Her practices have been passed down through her kin, although a little skewed.
The village has been dealing with a problem. A wild boar has been chasing and harassing cats in the village. It's more of a prominent annoyance than an actual threat, and the village is training cats to go after the boar and chase it away once and for all. However, the kins still have an inflated concept of self-importance in this, and take it on themselves without the village knowing. Feathertail still dies. Maybe Amalthea predicts her stopping the boar, but its more of a misinterpreted warning.
Anyway, the village cats are not happy. They made it clear they could handle it themselves, and still, the kin cats stepped in to save the day. No one was supposed to die. They weren't the heroes they thought they would be. They are told to leave the village and return to the kins.
I'm unsure how prevalent the village cats will be after that.
