Things Tumblr Has Taught Me

- White people have never experience any form of oppression. Ever.

- Men are the most privileged group in society, and any evidence to the contrary is sexist.

- It’s ok to hate white people/men based on statistics, but don’t you dare base your racism/sexism on statistics!

- It’s ok to assault someone if they disagree with you.

- Cultural appropriation is a completely serious issue unless it’s appropriating a white culture.

- Telling people to take responsibility for their own safety is victim blaming.

- White people have no culture, despite the majority of the western world being white.

- Capitalism is a completely evil system, and that all the historical accounts of other economic practices (particularly Communism/Marxism) is just a coincidence.

- Feelings outweigh fact.

- It’s ok to insult someone if they annoy you.

- Feminism is good, unless a white woman is partaking in it.

- Immigration won’t have any negative effects on our economy at all and we should have complete and utter sympathy for these people, despite having many, many issues that we should really be fixing first.

- If you have any right wing political beliefs at all, fuck you.

- I should listen to black celebrities who have more wealth than everyone in my family combined about oppression.

- I need to educate myself.

- People who speak in Ebonics and other such vernaculars are oppressed as their accents and speech patterns aren’t considered ‘proper English’, but white accents and speech patterns that aren’t considered ‘proper English’ totally don’t exist.

- All white people and men are privileged, and class and economic situation has nothing to do with anything.

- Diversity is more important than quality.

- I need to believe all this information blindly, and any disagreement is considered ‘bigoted’.
