Shin: Just like their namesake, idols are idealized beings. Beautiful beings that have been created in the most ideal form so that it’s impossible not to be loved by everyone. And since it’s hard to achieve that kind of existence, once you do get created in such a way, it’s only natural to be afraid to shed the skin of an idol. Of course you’d want to settle with what you’ve got. So the more Jonghyun reveals of himself, and the more he reveals his desire to go out and meet the rest of the world, it could actually make the people around him more anxious.

Kim: To be honest, it’s madness (to try to reveal my true self).

Shin: So why (are you doing it)?

Kim: The reason I had no choice but to do it was because I had (emotional) scars. I’m not just talking about the scars that have been inflicted on me as an entertainer. I’m talking about scars I’ve received as I’ve lived my life. The scars I collect as I continue to live my life. In the words I often use — growing pains. You know how people get stretch marks when they suddenly have a growth spurt? I have stretch marks on my waist, too. When I was young, I once wondered why it was that people had to grow. It was because I didn’t like seeing these stretch marks on myself. ‘If only I could have just stayed the same as I was when I was little, I wouldn’t have gotten these unsightly stretch marks. I wouldn’t have had to go through these growing pains. Why is it that we’re forced to grow?’

Jung: You were already a philosopher at that age.

Kim: Ever since I was young, like a dreamer I would imagine things that made absolutely no sense. I found myself engrossed in philosophical questions that had no answer. I think the reason people continue growing even in the midst of pain and suffering is simply to survive. In order to survive, we inflict wounds on ourselves and persevere through the pain. I, too, got scars from trying to grow and I felt a need to bare those scars.

I know it's some shawols too but I can't anymore with the exaggerated anime villain conduct of tm solo stans...like I saw a couple plotting to "analyze" the dynamic between taemin and onew during upcoming group promo and find "proof" that they hate each other like girl what the absolute fuck. I don't mind solo stans if they're just chilling and being a fan of someone but what is this forced imaginary beef between members. I also think it's insane how tm akgaes act like taemin is overlooked and mistreated by everyone on the planet when hes easily the most popular member of his group and one of the most popular and recognizable idols ever like can we just be honest here for 2 seconds tf are they even talking about it's so bizarre

And idk if this is like rude or whatever but you can tell that many of these toxic solo stans are 1) very young 2) have only been familiar with taemin for 1 or 2 years and 3) have migrated from other 4th and 5th gen fandoms that all treat drama like their daily entertainment and force drama all the time for no reason and even to some extent sustain themselves on drama. So I guess they came and are replicating that behavior here

i swear this is gen how some of them think, if any of the members genuinely disliked each other besides petty beef on occasion shinee would NOT have been around this long. i'm not going to deep analysis their friendship but it's very obvious that shinee love each other and that they're family

about taemin being mistreated - definitely happens (this is sm we're talking about, nobody is safe) but not to the extent that tmates believe so. i swear all of them are onew antis too - they tried to pin everything on onew because of taemin being unable to attend smtown.

i have my own thoughts on ceo jang - i think that while he's done a good job with managing onew's solo activities he doesn't understand how his actions have consequences since he's a public figure now. however, onew and ceo jang are two different people. you can't blame onew for something that ceo jang did (unless onew is directly involved ofc). i think that it's okay to criticize ceo jang for his lack of professionalism online but taemin solo stans take that to 100 and drag other people into the situation.

honestly the majority of taemin solo stans i've seen are fairly average age in relation to shawols (mid 20's with a decent portion also in their late teens), but i can absolutely tell that they are relatively new to kpop fandom. i also feel like the majority of twitter shawols are in that same category too. most of the older shawols are too done with fandom beef to care lol
