On today's agenda I have small clip from a slight Xie lian and Feng xin swap where Feng xin is the one to catch honger. Nothing much changes Hua Cheng still tries to make sure Xie lian is alright because that's Feng xins most cared for person there!

The crowd is roaring.

Xie Lian has finally made his appearance on stage, Feng Xin is sure Mu Qing will give him an earful later about the lateness but it's rather easy to distract his attention.

Xie lian is moving on the stage, the gold gleaming under the sun. Silk robes flowing as he dances around the other sword in hand, even inch like the divine hero he's meant to be.

The people of xianle only seem to get louder at his appearance, laughter even bubbling to warm the air.

But for once Feng Xin's gaze doesn't linger in his prince, technically supposed to be on break as he scans the crowd. Break isn't close to the word; it 's more like he's patrolling, scanning and always alert. That's just how he is protector first, admire second.

He takes a spare glance towards the stage and sees it.

A tiny boy, maybe 5, Feng Xin can't be sure. Perched over a railing way too high for his small frame. His hair is uncombed, and his face is smudged like it's been kicked into the dirt. But his eyes, they shine with a kinda desperate wonder. Staring at the prince like he's the brightest star in the sky.

Feng Xin can't say he'd fully disagree with the look in the kids' eyes. He doesn't focus on it for long though.

The kid shifts, and Feng Xin turns to face him fully.

His foot slips.

And he's falling.

Feng xin body moved before his mind catches up. Lunching forwards and over the railing slightly. He barely registers the sharp intake of breath of the few that turned their attention away from the performance. His hand shooting out just in time, catching the child by his collar. Like holding a dog by the scruff of his neck.

Slowly letting out his breath as too small hands latch onto his wrist. Leaning over the railing he catches a pausing look from his prince. He gently shakes his head to continue as he pulls the child back up over the railing.

The boy gasped, shaking slightly as Feng Xin set him down trying to let go of the collar. But the child kept a grip on his wrists. Feng xin kneels down beside him, trying to steady him.

“Woah woah, hey. Careful are you trying to cause a heart attack.”

Not for the first time Feng Xin wishes he was better with kids as the boy blinks up at him. He doesn't try removing his hand despite the lack of softness in his voice.

Feng xin can't help but notice the cut on his cheek or chapped lips. Perhaps his more.. aggressive personality wasn't the best match.

“....Wanted to see better….” The boy manages to whisper out.

Feng Xin lets out a sigh at that, taking a glance towards the stage. The crowds gone back to the entertainment and the prince manages to keep their attention.

Before turning back to the kid and lifting his other hand.

“Yeah well, you can't see anything if you crack your skull open.”

The kid definitely flinched when he placed his hand on his head. Feng Xin can't claim to be smart as he ruffles the kids' hair and stands up.

Ignoring how the kid looked at him in wonder.

I think Binghe deserves to be sick. Like, I get that his constitution and his blood mites or wtv make it see he could chase away any sickness before it got too bad, but I think he deserves to be ill as an adult and be cared for by his husband.

Like, imagine SQQ wakes up and does not immediately smell breakfast cooking or hear LBH shuffling around the bamboo house, and jerks up calling for Binghe just to hear him groan beside him.

Binghe is burning up with a fever, but still tries to get up to make breakfast, but SQQ pushes him back into bed and tells him hes too sick abd to rest.

Binghe is immediately in tears because he HAS to be useful to Shizun. He can't just lay in bed all day. But SQQ calls him a silly boy and presses a kiss to his temple before getting out of bed and making them breakfast. He's not in the kitchen for 5 minutes before he hears crashing in the bedroom, just to run and find LBH has collapsed through the paper doors.

SQQ sighs and helps him back into bed. LBH is delirious from fever and just keeps sobbing that he's abandoned his Shizun, and wrecked their house and that hes USELESS until SQQ gently raps him on the head with his fan which quickly silences him.

SQQ gets LBH changed out of his sweat drenched clothes and wipes him down, all while reminding him that LBH does not exist simply to wait on his Shizun. And SQQ is happy to have a chance to return all the love and care that LBH has always shown him.

And then they smell something burning.

SQQ rushes to the kitchen to try to save their congee. It's overcooked and started to separate, somehow both thick and watery at the same time. But they laugh together and eat, and LBH welcomes rest curled up by his beloved husband's side.
