propaganda i am not falling for:
always moving on. some goodbyes need to rot a little. some griefs need to be held in the mouth like a stone.
beauty defined by algorithms. beauty exists in crow feet and smile lines
pretending to be chill. i’m not chill. i care deeply and inconveniently. i read into things. i write poems about eye contact
beige apartments with no soul. give me bookshelves and incense and loud art
sneaky links and unclear intentions. i want devotion. and also clarity
treating books as decor. read them. dog-ear them. argue with them in the margins

Urgent care is a very funny name for it because they do not treat you with any urgency nor do they care

🤗 i dont like this emoji. this is not a hug to me. this is someone doing condescending jazz hands in my general direction when i am in need of affection. not comforting.
🫂 i love this emoji. this is a hug. we are hugging and its nice. and as a special bonus they appear to be my old friends from the msn messenger logo? very comforting.

ilove when someone posts about an issue that's supposedly plaguing society and it's painfully obvious that said issue is not a thing that matters if youre not on tiktok

What bothers me the most in the stupid separatism discussion are those who think separatism leads to some sort of deprivation. What sort of patriarchal biases do you have to buy in order believe that a life with no men is lacking something? All the positions men are banished from, apart from heterosexual partnership which isn’t a requirement for a fulfilling life, can be filled by women. Have faith in us. You can say separatism isn’t for you but don’t speak of it as if the end goal is abstaining from something. It’s a life full of women, not a life that remains half-empty once you’ve removed the men.

Anyone should be able to get bottom surgery for any reason, and it should be free.
Cis guy wants a vaginoplasty but nothing else, and still identifies as a cis guy? ABSOLUTELY.
Cis girl wants phalloplasty? WITHOUT QUESTION.
People should be allowed to have whatever relationship with their bodies and identities makes sense for them.
(this post MUST be reblogged by EVERYONE)

you used to be able to play games on cartoonnetwork.com . . . now every company's website wants to give you spyware and spread corporate propaganda but I REMEMBER when you could play a BEN 10 adventure game in-browser without so much as giving away your e-mail. people's heads should be on pikes for this

idk if I ever posted about this before but almost every woman in my family above the age of 30 has has some kind of cosmetic procedure in the form of injectables done. My mom had been getting botox for decades now I guess and she did experimental fillers that migrated and dropped in her face. My own sister who is less than 2 years older than me had botox in her forehead before she was even 30. The faces of the two women closest to me. You have to understand how disorientating it is to see their faces modified, to have to confront that unfamiliarity every time I look at them. My sister's botox was horrifying to me. Her face changed in a way that truly unsettled me. The way it moved, the way it didn't move was uncanny. Luckily its effects eventually waned in severity but until it did, I grieved my sister's face. I couldn't help but feel full of rage that beauty culture stole my sister face.
That is what they are doing. They are stealing your face. Your identity. Your humanity. Don't let them. Anyone could get work done, the only barrier being affordability. But I have come to the understanding that anything that can be bought is cheap.
True wealth; the wholeness of the uncorrupted and fortified self, your health, comfort- is priceless, beyond monetary value because it's immaterial; It quite literally cannot be bought because those things cannot be outsourced. Sure they can be supported by resources, but if a foundation is not there then it is a void that cannot be filled or substituted. See musk being a cringe loser. With a botched penice.
kind of a stupid example but my mother shows a picture of my natural hair to every colourist she has ever worked with and they can never get it just "right". I actually used to dye and bleach my hair for years. Every pastel colour. But I decided to stop, grow it out. Maturity for me was realizing that the hair colour that suited me best was my natural colour because it was mine and could not be bought. My mom is still dying her greys every 3-4 weeks. Her mother did not stop dying her hair until she was on deaths door.
At some point we need to bring this conversation into the public discourse: are the perceived benefits worth the long term risks to my health, the cost, the time and maintenance, the disconnect it creates from my sense of self and the world around me? Is anything worth that? And we need to collectively reckon with the resounding "no" that comes thereafter.

if you ever need a good cry just read up on st thecla, who was sentenced to die by beasts for defending herself from a rapist, and how in the amphitheater the most fierce of all of the creatures, a she-lion, fell at her feet and groomed her, and then protected her from all the other animals, culminating in a confrontation with a he-lion, where the exhausted, wounded lioness kills him but dies in the process, and how witnessing this fueled the women of the city to rise in protection of thecla when they realize the lioness can no longer protect her
like the detail that its a lioness who comes to thecla’s defense is really highlighted in the text and the detail that she dies protecting the girl from a male lion is also highlighted and thats so significant considering the fact that thecla is to be killed because she fought off a powerful man from raping her, and that paul basically abandons her (TWICE), but then its the women of the city who protect her chastity, who take her hands while she is lead to the amphitheater, who step up and call out the atrocity of the sentencing and denounce the governor and support thecla in a voice so loud that “the whole city seemed to be shaken”, and drug the next round of beasts to sleep, like.
a girl ripping the crown from the head of her rapist, surrogate momma lion’s tearing rabid bears to pieces, women shaking cities to the ground with their voices its a good saint story

Mr. Bennet: Sure, I haven't taken care of my daughters' financial security, but have I at least taken care of their education? No. But have I taken care of their emotional needs? Also no. But have I been a good protector and supervisor? I'm afraid not. However, have I been a good example for my children of being a kind and respectful spouse, parent, and all around human being? No again. But through it all, have I nailed being funny? Yes. And isn't that the most important role of a father after all?
