renoir's arms and hands being marred by second degree burns because he was the one who pulled verso's body out of the fire after alicia was saved. renoir being the one who cradled his grown son like the small boy he once was, having to watch those last flickers of light fade away from his eyes. renoir quietly sitting at alicia's bedside every night as she recovered from her own terrible injuries. renoir trying to lead clea away from her war path that was liable to get her killed, too. renoir trying not to let aline fall through the cracks of her torment and grief. renoir being spread too thin after verso's death and not having time to mourn the loss of his son. renoir loathing himself for not being there when both alicia and verso needed him the most. renoir being unable to ruminate on the agony verso was in before he died without his hands starting to shake and a sickness weighing heavy in his gut. renoir wishing nothing more than to had been the one buried in the ground instead of his boy.
