Why I like Manta so much

1.The reason I love this character so much isn’t jsut because of his deisgn which does help but the main reason why I love him so much is bc of his writing and story.First of all,Manta is established as a mean bully and a jerk in the first eps we see him in as he is often bullying others,however,despite that he still has one person he keeps close,which is Shino,his teammate and most probably only friend since who would wanna be friends with such a jerk,right?Here comes the catch,in the episode titles “The Polaris predicament” we get introduced to a shorescrubber from Polaris,Pavel,who we also find out was Manta’s superior at the Polaris academy,and that Manta was his lackey.Due to his interactions with Manta we can see that he wasn’t such a nice guy to him,in fact,he was a bully who constantly bullied Manta.We can even see in the same ep how Manga,who is usually stubborn and mean to everyone,going as far as to call Wyatt “bro” in an ep,and even disrespect him(most probably knowing Manta),BUT when Pavel is being mean to Manta,he doesn’t talk back,he just accepts it.That’s the first time we see more of Manta rather than him being just a mean bully to everyone.Knowing that he’s a victim of bullying,we can fairly say that the constant bullying he got from pavel didn’t do well to him,in fact,it made him become a bully himself.Despite that,he’s still not as mean to Shino as he is to everyone else,which,I could go on another rant just about them but I won’t do it(yet).We know that Shino also went to the academy,and that he also knows pavel,due to pavel asking him to be HIS mechanic and engineer(basically telling Shino to leave Manta,which tbh,kind of manipulating)We see Shino being hesitant to talk to pavel,which tells us despite most probably not enduring the same amount of bullying Manta got from Pavel,he still fears Pavel a little,saying yes,but being hesitant to do so.When Manta comes back,Pavel straight up tells Manta that he should pack his things bc he’s sending him back to Polaris,and he also says this exact thing “won’t you congratulate Shino?” Before he turns Shino’s chair so he could face Manta,we notice the way Shino looks down with full on fucking guilt on his face bc obv he didn’t wanna abandon Manta,but,he didn’t really have a choice.In the next scenes,we get to notice how Corto,tries to help Manta get rid of pavel(send him back to Polaris so Manta could keep being the pilot for the cold kings)however Manta tells Corto that he can’t “disobey academy rules”,we also see that in a scene where Corto asks Shino why didn’t anyone stop pavel from bullying Manta,Shino tells her that “everyone obeys the trainer,no mater how hard it is” Which…..EXCUSE ME???EVERYONE OBEYS THE TRAINER NO MATTER HIW HARD IT IS???SHINO JUST BASICALLY FUCKING TOLD US RHE ACADEMY IS FUCKING ABUSIVE

Anyway,we learn from the Polaris predicament ep that Manta’s bullying is all a TRAUMA RESPONSE SINCE HE WAS BULLIED(constantly may I add).All Manta knows is that since no one stopped Pavel,why would anyone stop him from being a bully?His mentality is fucked up bc of the trauma pavel gave him,he doesn’t know any better,he’s 15,he needs an adult to teach him what’s right and wrong,not to mention that Wyatt and Neptune,the only adults on the island do literally nothing to help Manta become a better person,all they do is criticize him,LIKE BRO IF U SEE THE GUY HAS ISSUES TRY AND HELP HIM OR SMT IDK DONT JUST CRITICIZE HIM ALL DAY TRY AND EXPLAIN TO HIM TRY AND TEACH HIM TRY AND MAKE HIM REALIZE HIS MISTAKES!!!
