So, just a quick question. In Marble Hornets, Jay was in a hotel in Tuscaloosa, right? (In-canon hotel, not the Ramada.)

In canon, we actually don’t really have any idea where anything is. No locations are ever stated in the series; the closest we get is “the town near Rosswood Park”. Most people just kind of headcanon everything as taking place in Alabama anyway, since it’s more convenient (and you know, weather and stuff), but really, it could be pretty much anywhere in the US. Especially since “Rosswood Town” and “College Town” (where they all lived in 2006) apparently seem to be several days of driving apart, if Jay’s statements in 52 and 69 are anything to go by. 

I guess if you want to get really technical, you could possibly call “Rosswood Town” Northport, since in 82, you can see a bit of an old sign in the shack that says “Northport” on it and appears to have a phone number with an Alabama area code: 

And Northport is basically Tuscaloosa (I guess it’s like a suburb; it’s like Bossier City is to Shreveport, or Fort Worth is to Dallas, etc., it’s the city that’s across the river).

So I mean, obviously the guys didn’t put that sign there and it was just kinda there, so it’s probably not really intended to be canon, but if you wanted to stretch a bit, you could say that yes, Rosswood Town is Northport/Tuscaloosa, and therefore, the hotel Jay woke up in was in Tuscaloosa. That’d probably mean that “College Town” would have to be somewhere in a completely different state, since it’s apparently pretty far away, but yeah.
