( @eternablade )
He’s got presents for the team (scale-balm for Charizard and a new brush for
Cleo, to name a few). He also has more sweet treats from their mum, as if Leon’s
fridge wasn’t likely still chock-full of leftovers from the family party. All of that
graciously set down so he can proceed.
“Birthday punches! HUP! HUP!!!”
Every year it’s been an effort, considering his brother’s a big bloke. But hey, he’s
fifteen now, he’s getting there. This year is an ordeal of Hop grinning and snickering
ashe bats at Leon with his fists, more-so trying valiantly to knock him over with the
roughhousing onslaught than anything else.
“Hey, you’re old. Here, open it.”
A present pressed into Leon’s hands. It’s a nicely framed arrangement of sketch
cards done by Hop, colored in with watercolors. The cards are of each member
of his beloved pokemon roster.
Then in a spot below that, there’s a drawing of Hop, Leon and their family.
“Happy birthday, Lee.”
Also there’s a birthday card. It is absolutely an old encouragement card featuring
Leon and Charizard on the cover. There are googly eyes. It looks like this.
Hop is very proud.

I need to take a step back
I need to learn to let go of the past
But at the moment I can’t
'Cause my mind is running way too fast

Brain: we can name him Leon.
Me: hell.

WHICH IMAGINARY ILLNESS DO YOU HAVE —— ?
WANDERER’S ACHE
You need to leave, you can't stay. You've forgotten how to do it - how to set your roots, how to unpack the moving boxes. Staying too long isn't an option, the steady thrum of mixed curiosity and dread always propelling you forward. You've burnt all your bridges, leaving a trail of shattered connections every time you leave. But still you can't stay, can't even sit still. You tire of life as it happens, wishing you could quit your job and just become something else - anything at all. You've forgotten how to make a place into a home, feeling content only in novelty, at home only on the road.
