Each year I purchase several bundles of trees from the big New York State nursery up in Saratoga Springs. If your going to leave something for your family it's best to get started now. There is no one coming to help you, you have to get up and do it yourself.
These are Douglas Fir or Norway Spruce depending on the photo they 8ngo in at 1' high when their dormant and in 10-15 years really start to look like something to be proud of

ironwork

Working on a very special iron door. 100 years can be rough on something made of iron. The bottom is a boxed rail that is completely rotted out. I'll fabricate a new one and get it back together. #ironwork #oldhouse #restoration

Don't overthink it

When I head out into the world each day I'm almost always faced with a multitude of choices, decisions or dilemmas . However you may want to look at it. How you play it is obviously up to you. And while I live in my head and play and replay the days events over and over, and play and replay my plan for tomorrow I'm constantly reminded of the fact that the world is turning while I'm working on your home or apartment.
People are living and dieing, getting married and divorced, going through all the excitement and hardships that live has to offer all the while I'm sitting in there fireplace with my legs sticking out into the room
This is a photo of the back of the "Central Box and Paper Co " in McGraw, NY . I had to demolish the building to the left. And the bridge from the managers house where working people would clock in for almost 100years. The entire complex needs alot of work and my goal is just not to let the place get to the point of no return.

This is a small wood frame addition to a large Dutch stone house. The roof had leaked for years ant the top plate had some rotten in it.
I decided to splice in and laminate the repair, take your time
Here you can see the Lazer line at the top of our new beam

Had a really nice day at the "John J House" in Rye, NY. Most older homeowners will not be as financed as a local historic association, however barring an emergency the key is to stay calm and focus on what you can do . Guard against getting overwhelmed

I'm 65 in November. I've had the opportunity to help take care of some very special homes. If you truly had a love affair with your home, then you need someone like me. It would be silly to suggest that you need me, but you really need someone "like" me. My wife says that we are a soft target, our heart is on our sleeve .

It's been a long time since I did this. I think that I had to grow a bit in order to decide what exactly am I going to write about. What am I going to say, what do I have to offer. And I think I've settled on trying to give some guidance to people that own an older home, May not be well financed But want and need to make some repairs(changes) while keeping as much of the historical fabric in tact.
