I think Irving is my favourite character in severance like I love the idea of someone who is academically minded but, devoid of anything else intellectually stimulating, he becomes fascinated with the history of lumin and all the handbooks and everything. He doesn’t come off as a “religious” fanatic, he comes off as didactic, as wanting to teach his colleagues about the history of the world. And this is very obviously horrifying to watch, this person who expresses his desire to engage with art and culture by memorising corporate behavioural handbooks, but there is something beautiful about these characters who are searching so desperately for meaning that they will go to any lengths to interact with the world with wonder

when i was a kid, i thought shonen heroes kind of overdid the “friendship is important” thing, but now that i’ve grown up i find myself tearing up and my heart grows three sizes sometimes when my friends call me by pet names or just do the smallest stuff for me like printing things and like… I’m sorry I doubted you naruto you were right all along my friends ARE my heart

adulthood is carefully writing a two paragraph email that could actually just be reduced completely to “hey, what the fuck”

Interesting trivia: The third opening of Kimagure Orange Road shocked many animation otaku at the time of its release. In addition to being one long continuous take, it features several rotating shots, something very difficult and time-consuming to render via hand-drawn animation. This level of effort was unheard of for a weekly television series in 1988, and even today, it’s considered one of the more technically laborious anime openings ever made.

Wow. JVN spoke his truth about being abused by an older boy at his church, filling his emotional void with junk food and then drugs (meth and coke) and sex, selling his body to make money cuz he was too embarrassed to ask his mom for help, flunking out of college, relapsing after rehab twice, and finding out at 25 that he was HIV positive. His journey’s been harrowing and yet he seems like such a radiant and positive person. He’s even braver than any of us realized.
