Superpowers AU

I have a half-cooked superpowers au idea (X-men inspired), where all pilots in the 100th have some kind of metal or flying related superpower, the Air Force specifically selected them based on that. The Germans have their own similar unit.

But Gale has a second power, which he has been keeping a secret because of how his father raised him: telepathy. Gale’s father used to force him to help him cheat when he gambled, and it led to Gale overhearing some traumatizing thoughts and to complicated feelings about his own powers.

When the boys get to the stalag, they all receive a wristband or something that blocks the common powers the Germans are aware of, but it doesn’t work on Gale’s telepathy. He can still listen to everyone's thoughts, including John’s loud thoughts of relief, pain, grief and love.

Eventually, Gale will have to reveal his superpower to John, but I'm not sure yet in what context.
