Kashmir Files The Reality which we Ignored A movie set in the time of 1990 , based on incidents which took place in real life , directed by Vivek Agnihotri with Anupam Kher, Amaan Iqbal, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar in the lead roles. It depicts the reality of lives of Kashmiri Pandits around the time of 1990s which most of the Indian population is unaware of. The movie follows Krishna Pandit(Darshan Kumar) who is essentially presentation of the Indian population who is in search of truth but is easy to manipulate. This movie shows two times parallel to each other in which one is focused on the journey of Krishna Pandit from getting brainwashed into believing Kashmiri Pandits fled by their own choice to finding about the real truth how Kashmiri Pandits were terrorized, forced to change their religion or getting killed which left them no choice except for fleeing from Kashmir and have not been able to return to their homes even to this day or if they can return there is nothing for them there to return for. They were driven out from their homeland forever. The other which shows Krishna pandit’s father Pushkar Nath Pandir(Anupam Kher) and Kashmiri Hindus in general being terrorized , killed or forced to change their religion. Terrorists acting as if they were freedom fighters for Kashmir with the goal of merging Kasmir into pakistan. They tormented the Kashmiri Hindus both physically and mentally going as far as telling a mother to eat rice soaked with her own son’s blood is one of the many extreme ways they used to torture people. Kashmiri Hindus were killed in masses , with no action being taken against the people who did it. No one to fight for them or even listen properly to their problems.
